With probably the same amount of effort, Remi let him head out the door. Now that she was totally awake and even giddy from both last night and that morning, she rushed off to the bathroom to get ready. Shower, find something relatively nice-looking (though not dress clothes), and actually do her hair nice for once. It was taking her longer than she expected.

Gavin was ready before Remi was. When he exited his own room and found Stephan changed and waiting on the couch, he climbed up next to him. The toilet hero guy. Gavin still didn't know the guy's name, or if someone had mentioned it he wasn't listening.

"What's your name?" he asked with innocent wide, orange eyes.

Honestly, Stephan wasn't surprised that Gavin was ready before his mother, and when the boy hopped up next to him, he just smiled. But when he asked for his name, the frat boy seemed a bit embarassed. "Whoops, sorry little guy," score one for nervous stupidity. In his anxious rush last night, he'd forgotten that Gavin didn't know his name. "It's Stephan."

"Stef-an," Gavin tried to mimic the sound slowly, the way his mommy told him to when he heard a new word. "Stefan. Stephan!"

See? He could do it! Not nearly as fun as say, maybe 'Osha,' which just rolled off his tongue, but at least he could say the guy's name. Judging from how his mommy seemed to like him, Stephan might be around more often.

"Gavin are you rea--oh!" Remi came out of her bedroom finally. She was in her usual jeans with a teal V-neck that matched her eyes. Seeing Stephan there already surprised her, though it was a pleasant surprise. "Well there you two are."

She smiled sheepishly, "Hopefully you haven't been waiting too long on me."

Stephan got to his feet when she came out, tucking his hands in his pockets. His hair was still wet, and he'd had time to shave, so he looked a fair bit more put together than he normally did. He'd left the car running, to keep the air conditoner on and keep it from getting too hot, so he didn't hesitate in heading toward the door, "Not at all, but I left the car on, so we should probably head out." Looking back over his shoulder, he added, "You look nice."

"Thanks," Remi blushed with a smile. She liked the way his hair looked when it was wet. "You too."

Sweeping Gavin into her arms, she followed him out the door. So far this morning was going great. Forgetting the abnormal wake-up call, this had probably been the best morning she'd had in a long while. It was right up there with the morning she'd realized she'd actually passed her last semester of college. She just hoped the morning would continue that way.

When they reached the car, Remi had another dilemma to deal with. "Umm, should I just hold Gavin in my lap on the way there?"

Or maybe, by some stroke of luck, he'd already bought a car seat. She obviously wouldn't have one, as she didn't own a car.

Toddler seating, good thing he'd thought of that. "Well, I have a carseat, but it's kind of girly," he laughed, jogging toward the car so he could unlock it and show her what he meant. "I mean, I don't think Gavin will mind, but it's made for a girl," he explained, pointing out the pink and white Barbie theme. It wasn't a big problem, unless Gavin made it one, but it did add a bit of humor to the morning. After all, he'd been planning everything he got for a daughter, not really thinking about the fact that he'd be spending a lot of time with Gavin.

Gavin blinked at the carseat. It looked like the one in Ina's car but...more pink. He didn't have too big of a problem with pink, but he was curious as to what exactly Barbie was. It looked like a girl thing, so he'd have to ask Haki.

Remi held back a laugh when she imagined her orange son in a pink carseat. "Well Gavin, is that alright with you?"

He considered it for a moment. Carseat. Mommy's lap. The carseat had been restraining if he remembered correctly. He didn't like that.

"Sit in lap?" he pleaded, looking at both Remi and Stephan with the universal puppy-dog look. If it worked for Haki, surely it would work for him too.

At Gavin's reaction, Stephan couldn't help but crack up. Definately a boy. Of course, he didn't think about how the carseat would be uncomfortable for a child with wings, simply about the theme. "Guess he knows what he wants," he said, managing to stop laughing and catch his breath. Deciding to leave the debate to mother and son, he walked around the car and climbed into the driver's seat, instinctively turning on the radio to a fairly clean rock station.

Remi smiled both at her son and Stephan's laughing fit.

"Actually, he might be better off in the backseat with a seatbelt," she considered, her motherly instincts kicking in and remembering exactly why it was a bad idea to hold a toddler in the front seat. "The more I think about it, the more nervous I am about him not being strapped in. A seatbelt without a carseat'd be better than me just holding him."

For another time that morning Gavin cheered, throwing his arms up in the arm before throwing them around Remi's neck to keep his balance. He was going to be a big boy using the actual seatbelt! Opening the backseat opposite the Barbie carseat, she set Gavin in and buckled him up. It wasn't nearly as restraining as the carseat, and if he scooted close enough to the buckle it fit him right across the chest the way it was supposed to. He could deal with this kind of seatbelt.

"Alright," Remi said, slipping into the passenger's seat up front. "Shall we?"

"Yep." Making a mental note that backseat strapped in was best just incase he'd need to take Gavin somewhere in the future. Turning the radio down to a fairly low level, he shifted the car into gear and backed out, not paying much attention for traffic in the complex since everyone else seemed to be either home or already gone. When he turned out, there were a few cars on the road, enough that he had to wait before turning. "So Gavin, what do you like to do aside from playing with Hawk Man?" He asked, deciding some conversation would be better than silence.

Gavin paused to consider the question a bit. What did he like to do other than Hawk Man? He played with his legos. Attempted coloring books. But those wouldn't do as answers. Other than playing superhero, what was the most fun thing he liked doing...

"Play with Haki," he said finally. "And Osha. And Ina."

Friends. Friends were lots of fun. Maybe even more fun than playing Hawk Man. Plus, if a hero was going to be a hero he'd need someone to save.

"Social butterfly then huh?" He said, keeping his eyes on the road. In the short time since they'd been there, he'd sort of forgotten what the diner looked like, but he remembered there being a sign, so he wasn't worried. "Do you play any sports? Football, soccer, baseball?" Sports were good for a kid his age, girl or boy, taught good sportsmanship. That and it was something he could relate with him if he did. Play catch and all of that maybe?

"Sports?" Gavin blinked. What were these sports that he spoke of. He'd never heard of football, soccer, or baseball. He'd have to get Mommy to enlighten him on these things.

"Play catch with Hamit!" he offered, remembering throwing sticks for the puppy. "Throw sticks far and he brings them back."

"Hamlet's a puppy," Remi explained. "I think the man who lives below you owns him. Tristan."

She also remembered Gavin accidentally hitting poor Tristan with a stick. And when Tristan thought he'd made Gavin cry. Even after that he'd still been nice enough to offer them both ice cream. She'd have to make it up to him sometime.

"A puppy, that's got to be fun." Wait, someone had a dog in the building? So you could have pets? Interesting... "Pets are allowed in the building?" He asked, hoping to confirm it before he made any big plans. It was probably in those contracts he should have read. But oh well. If they could have pets, without any special negotiation or anything, then maybe he should get a dog himself.

"I guess so," Remi shrugged. "As far as I know, no one's made a big deal out of it."

At one time she'd considered getting a pet. Later she nixed the idea when Gavin proved to be more trouble than a household of pets. In truth, she eventually wanted a cat or a dog, but she'd wait until Gavin was a bit older to see if he could handle one.

"Are you thinking about getting a pet?" she asked, curious. Maybe if someone else got a pet, she wouldn't have to worry about taking care of an animal and Gavin.
