"Think I should try and get it over with before I have a toddler to keep track off? Decorating's not exactly my thing, and as much as my mom would love decorating my apartment for me, I don't think she'd be willing to drive out here to do it," he laughed, pouring himself another cup nearly as soon as the waitress wandered by and set it down. He'd go to the hardware store tommorow then, and find some kind of fitting paint. And then he'd have to look for furniture, and maybe art. All that garbage that really didn't interest him much.

"I'd definitely suggest doing it before you have a toddler with you," she nodded vigorously before pouring her own cup. "Well, since your mom sounds like such an experienced designer, I'm sure your apartment will turn out great."
She wondered if maybe she should do something more with her own flat. It might be a fun project, and a nice way to pass the time. She could learn how to sew and make drapes for the windows, or bring in some plants from the garden. She couldn't do any major overhauling, just simple cost-efficient stuff.
"If you need help with the execution of the plans, I'm willing to help," she offered. She figured his mom would probably take care of all the design work, so maybe she could help with manual labor. Plus, after you've painted an entire apartment the next one should go much quicker.

"That'd be great. I'd probably get distracted and start playing games with half the wall painted. I might not tell my mom till I have some ideas of my own. She tends to... Take over, any project she gets involved with," he admitted, "Last time I painted my room at home she decided to throw out all of my ideas and do the whole thing in beiges. Kind of bland, way too elegant for my tastes, but she seemed to like it." He had wanted it blue and white, nice normal calm colors, but no. Maybe he'd do the living room in those colors, just to get on her nerves.

"What, like throwing paint around?" she laughed, thinking about possible paint wars. But oh, the poor carpet! She guessed she'd have to make sure they layed out tarps across the floor beforehand.
"Oh I know all about mothers taking over projects," she paused to take a long sip of coffee. "When I was in middle school sometimes my mom wouldn't let me do my own projects because 'I didn't do them right.' Made for easy A's, but it pissed me off to no end."
Except for the science projects. She was very glad her mother took care of her posterboards for those everytime. Unfortunately she hadn't been so lucky in high school when mom decided to back off.

"Huh?" The frat boy seemed a bit confused, "Well, I actually meant video games, but come to think of it, that'd be fun. The spots would be cool for a kid's room too. I might do that for her room, the soul I mean, once she's a toddler." There he went assuming again. "But I think for the living room I'll just use normal painting. Maybe sponge painting. I don't know, anyone around here that might now a good designer I'm not related to?" He questioned, not really all that confident in any of his ideas turning up the way he wanted them to.

Seeing his confused expression, she felt slightly embarrassed for assuming the wrong thing. At least it had turned into a semi-usable idea.
"Sponge painting usually looks nice, though I've seen it used more in bathrooms and smaller areas than living rooms," the only reason she knew any of this stuff was from her fantasy of one day owning a dream home, which had led to reading a lot of home and garden magazines. She may not know completely what she was talking about, but she had a general idea.
"I don't know any designers, but I know that another guardian--Marc--looked as if he had his entire place redone. It looks like the interior of a mansion in there. Maybe you could ask him who he used."

"Oh? I got a few notes from him, Haki's father? I'll have to ask him sometime then," he said purposefully, "I don't think I want the apartment to be that cushy, but not quite as drab as it is now. A nice in between, you know? The only furniture I really have is... Well, what was in the apartment. Aside from a microwave and a mini fridge, I didn't really have much decoration for my room at the frat house. I had a desk, but I left it behind, too big for my car." A nonbiased designer would be nice, especially if they were willing to do the shopping for him. Labor he could handle, hours and hours in a store with a bunch of chattering salespeople, he couldn't.

"I'm right there with you on furniture," she chuckled. "The furniture that was already in the apartment was an upgrade compared to what little I had."
The mention of the desk being too large reminded her of moving in the apartment at the complex.
"Moving large furniture is a pain. Imagine having to carry all your existing furniture up four flights of stairs without an elevator," she smirked. "I basically dismantled all I had to just get it up there. My couch was in ten different pieces by the time I was through with it."

He nodded, "Don't need to tell me twice, I've been hauling boxes up to the fifth floor for most of the day. I think it was best that I didn't end up bringing anything really heavy with me. Aside from the fridge that is. But even that wasn't that heavy, or big." It was true, none of the things he had brought were particularly bulky, it was just that there had been so much little stuff for him to drag up the stairs. "I might get some temporary furniture, you know. Like a toddler bed. Probably not a crib, but something with a pen like that, removable, for safety." And peace.

"Okay you win with five flights of stairs."
She took the last sip of coffee in her mug. "I got Gavin a small bed, though sometimes I wonder if a pen might not be a bad idea."
It certainly would make life easier. Although, he would probably just find a way to climb out, or worse...figure out how to use his wings. She stared at her empty cup, which meant that dessert was probably over.

Though he was enjoying himself, the caffiene was starting to make him jittery. Another pot was probably pushing it anyway. One of them would probably go into cardiac arrest. Around that time, the waitress came back carrying his card and a reciept for him to sign. He scribbled his signature quickly before handing it back to her, then tucked the card away in his wallet. "Well, we should probably head back, if we get any more coffee we'll both be up till dawn. I'll give you my number when we get back." Realizing that sounded a bit odd, he added, "Just so you can call me if you need a drone to haul something heavy up those stairs for you, or watch Gavin for a little while. I could probably use the practice."

The caffeine was starting to take effect on her as well. Luckily years of use kept her from spazzing too much. She slightly regretted that their meeting was basically over. This was the first person at the compound that she really got to know. Well, the first person to ever get to know this much about on the first meeting.
"I'll definitely take you up on that offer," she smiled, getting up from her seat. Her legs were cramped from sitting for so long. "I'll give you my number too."

Getting up, Stephan grinned, "I'll look forward to something to do then. Even if it involves the totally new universe of toddler." Heading toward the door, he pulled out his keys, thinking for a moment. "Hey Remi, think you remember enough to drive back? I could if you don't want to, just thought it would be fun." Alright, so maybe it wasn't like, theme park level fun, but it was something if you hadn't done it in a while. And he'd have to do something with this car once he'd finished restoring his next one. It'd need some repairs first, but leaving it with its keys for whoever needed it seemed like an alright idea.

She paused for a moment to consider the possibility of driving back. The way was fairly straightforward, and Stephan could help make sure she didn't get too off track. It was just that she hadn't driven since she graduated.
"I think I remember enough," she smiled with a look of one gathering confidence. "I haven't driven in a year, so my skills are a bit rusty. I'll definitely try."
It was just like remembering how to ride a bike, right?

"Anything's worth a try," he agreed, tossing the keys her way, "And... That came out completely wrong." Well, some things were worth a try, other things were just weird. But that had another, much more personal, reason. "Just try not to drive us off a cliff." There weren't really any cliffs in the area, at least none that he had seen, so there wasn't much to be worried about.
