Actually, a lot of Jews are not against Germans at all. Gwrmany in fact, is very testy about the Holocaust. In fact a few years back, I seem to recall an incident where a Neo-Nazi teen from the US or a different country wrote an article against the Jews or about the Holocaust never existing. The teen was going to be tried in the teen's own country, except, Germany insisted rather harshly tghat they should try him. "The internet is international" Germany insisted. The government was extremely upset and repulsed by the article, so the eteen was tried in Germany and got a much worse sentence than he would have in the teen's home country.

my bf is so amazingly obvssesed with germans it isnt even funny. we wake up each morning to a german WWI march. but i know what you mean, h ave a firend who ahs a german shepard and some ppl wont even eat over there house on shabbos b/c of her...poor doggy

roothands One of my Jewish friends speaks fluent German... i'm taking german right now, o.0 yea.. i make sure i don't accidently say my germish slang i do in school like i say uber alot or i say one of my many favorite german words with my friends lol. like i randomly will say to like jeff or anna or biance that they are "du bist (something here)" or like i'll say "nein nein ich bin sehr intellagent." then i'll say something really smartass in english but sound german lol .. it's stupid yea but it's amusing if you are there rolleyes .. i guess it amuses me Alina Sedai but i know what you mean, h ave a firend who ahs a german shepard and some ppl wont even eat over there house on shabbos b/c of her...poor dogg aww ::gives the doggie some doggie cookies and gives him an uber big hug:"

A good deal of the German population during the Holocaust thought what was happening to the Jews was terrible. However, most did not speak out against the Nazi policies or take action because they were afraid of being attacked. I hate Nazis, but not Germans in general. Additionally, the Nazis are out of power in modern Germany, though they do still exist. By no means do I sympathize for the Nazis, but there is nothing wrong with not hating those who had nothing to do with the mass killings of Jews during the Holocaust. Hating the German people as a whole and their culture is going too far in my opinion. My mom drives a Volkswagon- what's wrong with that?

However, most did not speak out against the Nazi policies or take action because they were afraid of being attacked. I hate Nazis, but not Germans in general. Additionally, the Nazis are out of power in modern Germany, though they do still exist. By no means do I sympathize for the Nazis, but there is nothing wrong with not hating those who had nothing to do with the mass killings of Jews during the Holocaust. Like I said earlier in the thread, after watching the movie "the wave", I understood the Germans completely for "going with the flow" like they did. Not that I was okay, of course. There simply was too much for them to sacrifice. It was either join in or be trampled. Just like a wave. Hitler did pretty well in the beginning.

Krystalnacht would not have occured if the Nazis had not started the anti-semitic propaganda before then. The Nazis started something that the Germans followed in fear of being killed if they did not. Of course the Nazis were not the only ones who did anything; the civilians went with the flow, but they did not necessarily think what they were doing was right. They just wanted to stay alive and out of the concentration camps. Even Christians who did not obey Nazi orders, or who were suspected of helping Jews (whether they actually did or not) were punished. The Nazis used force and threats to manipulate many civilians into supporting them.

i dont hate germans. not all germans hate jews. So why hate them when you dont know the people there?

I hold the germans responsible for the holocaust. That does not mean that I blame them. There is a difference. I do not blame the germans any more than I blame any other nation in the world for what happened (apart from the jews of course xd ).

Dude, I can't say my ashkenazi side (mom's side) hates Germans but I do know that my mother and grandmother won't even step foot in their country sweatdrop
I actually want to go someday, maybe even to visit the area where my family lived. One of my best friends when I was little was actually a German girl, and as a whole they seem like very nice people -- at least these days.
It's funny, my mom's maiden name was translated into Hebrew, but in its original form it's the most German name ever: Freudenberg. rofl FTW?
