Sharpie Dispenser Two things.
1. Fanfiction Contest - Who can write the best fanfiction about the same subject?
2. MORE ADVERTS - Go out and tell people about the guild! Better yet, tell people about Doctor Who! No one wants to join a guild when they know nothing about the subject. That's like me joining an Inuyasha guild! *pokes* I'd have no fun because I know nothing of the subject. Whats stopping you from doing those things yourself?? ninja

Well, I suppose it would help make us stand out. After all, how many other guilds can glow or levitate?

I don't think many of the other guilds do anymore.... not after the "incident" (she said knowing full well it was a lie)

Smigg-the-Miserable Freaj But you know, it would be cool to get to know guild members better, because... well everyone's scattered around, England, Australia, America, Scotland... etc... so really outside posting in the guild you can't really talk and stuff. Maybe we could have a PM list or something, or email or ... I dunno, something where you whack your username or email down if you have the time and want to get to know people and such. I know someone had a thread asking for AIM somethings but ... seriously I don't have one or even know what it is confused Hmm, interesting idea. I suppose we could set up some kind of periodical newsletter or something for people to let others know what they've been up to or something like that. Well, for those who want the details of their private lives known anyway. You could also use it for updating people about new Doctor Who news they might have missed and stuff like that. Hell, if we wanted then we could go really crazy and do a podcast. Hang about a minute, I'm just going to shift this across to the ideas thread. And lo, it has been shifted.

There... all moved... Hairy Priest Those are some interesting suggestions... though some might take a bit more effort to implement (aside from making a PM/email/AIM list, which could easily be done by making a thread for it). Roobarb's been thinking we should have a mod discussion to see if there's any stuff we could do to improve the guild. Should we? Ceribri Yeah, I think that's a good idea of Roobarb's. 3nodding Apart from enlarging DT's nose... -_- Eirwyn You could make a (free) website or web page to supplement the guild--dress it up the way you can't the guild, post games & stuff on it, etc.
Geocities would be a good one. The drag & drop pagebuilder is pretty easy to get along with. That's what I built my own site on. Even better would be building it offline & loading it up with FTP but hardly any free web services have that. Fortunecity does but they have screamingly huge top-page banner ads. And I wouldn't use the new Google pages--they are very limited & stinky so far. I'm trying it & the only good thing about it is all the games & stuff you can put on your pages. The templates they have are awful.

Check this out. It's a game with daleks and stuff. (double click a dalek to blow it up, it blows up all the daleks of the same type that connect with it. Can't blow up daleks that don't connect with another dalek) (NOTE: Limited time only, using someone else's laptop in someone else's house with someone else's connection) (ALSO: Icons by someone else, code by Apple)

Ye-es... nice game. I take it that's a show of hosting stuff online?
Anyway I really like the idea of having a spin-off website for the Guild, only I am a bit wary cos I don't want to end up with one person looking after it all by themselves (especially if that person is me) and I've had that happen several times before. It ends in the website dying a miserable death.
Trouble is if we all run the thing then we need to find a place where we can all log in and change stuff. The only solution I can think of straight off would be if we made a community on LiveJournal, though that's more blog-like than website-like. It might be the sort of thing we're after though. What does everyone think?

seffy_chan Do all 4 of you PROMISE to post in it???? Cross your heart and hope to die?? Yeah, although it's quickly going to degrade into Roobarb's description.

I like the idea, as long as it doesn't turn into a smaller version of the Guild...

Roobarb Ye-es... nice game. I take it that's a show of hosting stuff online? Yeah. When I get back I'll mess around with SQL and phpBB and all that. Although a LiveJournal community might be OK for discussing news, I suppose.
