Argh! Avast! Arith's being capsized(sp?)*! pirate The much more nimble green scrambled on top of the larger brown as their tumble came to an end. She crawled up on his back and lay down, creating a dragon "dog pile". "I win!"
"Well, a dragon always knows." Andromeda added as they came up to the wide entrance of the Weyrling Barracks. The blonde rider noted the buckets of meeat set to the side and grabbed a pail, calling to Arith through the mental link bewteen the two. "Arith, beef!" "Coming 'Meda!" The green would scramble down from atop the brown and race him across the grass, a green streak against the yellow-brown grass.

'Come get it!' It was as if the little brown was being chased by the devil he ran so quickly. Darting away, or towards, through the grass quickly as the smell of food filled his nostrils.
"That was fast." Yamir's tone sounding suprised as the green barely made her way out of the grass before the brown came out his mouth open and ready to be fed some more. Yamir picked a few pieces out of the bucket he had grabbed and set them down in front of the little bugger. Simply and retardedly the dragon looked up at him wondering what to do with it, as he only knew the force feeding Yamir had done the day before. A curious eye looked down as he explained through his mental link. 'Put it in your mouth and eat it.'

Tradition be damned -we're the new queen riders. We make the rules. Though not normally egotistical, the thought of being the "puppet master" of the entire Weyr sounded appealing to the gold rider. Maybe, just maybe... Josie shook the thought away. There were other things to think about. We should meet with the other bronze riders. No doubt they're in a panic thanks to the death of the Weyrleader. It'd be interesting to see them react to us taking charge. Now how do we go about calling th- "Already have!" Caylith's bright voice popped through Josie's voice, the dragon's words carrying over to Evith. As if on cue, several bronze dragon popped out of bewteen overhead, circling lower as they picked places to land. The gold dragon gave something like a squawk and a squeak as the wind form their wing beats carried over, irritating her injured wing. The dragon's eyes closed tightly, and her rider's arm went over her eyes to block the wave of dust the dragons kicked up. ... That was fast. Shall we go meet our public, Ms...?
arrow BarracksThe young blonde smiled. "Terrance. I suppose we should introduce each other before we begin to take command." She laughed easily, but was surreptitiously looking at the bronzes out of the corner of her eye with awe and more than a little apprehension.
"I'm Evith," the gold dragon introduced herself regally, her voice ringing in Terrance and Caylith's minds. The queen butted her head into the back of Terrance's leg as she came up beside her human-- hard enough to jolt Terrance foward, but not enough to knock her over. Dropping her imperious tone from a moment before, she acted more like her age and told Terrance, "And I'm hungry." She looked up at the rider with a pleading expression that could be described, on Earth, as puppy dog eyes.
Terrance glanced at the cluster of bronzes waiting expectantly, then looked at Josie sheepishly. "I think Evith is going to have to eat before we meet with the bronzeride--"
"Nevermind!" Evith chimed. She had discovered the buckets of meat while Terrance had turned away and was gorging herself on the fresh meat. She finished quickly and looked up expectantly, tail flicking excitedly. Food was important, but she was very eager to meet the bronzes.
"Then I guess we shouldn't leave them waiting," Terrance told Josie, smiling ruefully. "But before we head over-- I'd like to know your name too. And your dragon?"

Aye, I suppose you have a right to. I'm Josie, and this is Caylith. Not much for remembering names, which is why I don't have a last one. The rider placed a hand on her hip, scratching the back of her head with the other. She too was eager to meet the bronze riders, but she also wanted to make an impression. If her and Terrance were supposed to be in charge of things, they should act it. Let 'em come to us. Show them that we intend to do things our way. Lots of traditions are being broken left and right here -two queens, no Weyrleader... who's to say there can't be two Weyrwomen? How could a foreigner know so much? With all the talking she was doing and how comfortable she felt around Terrance,an accent had crept into her voice. Not heavy, but there -the light trill and soft drawl commonly known as a "French" accent. Before she could say more, though, Josie was butted by a golden head, and Caylith nudged her head up under Josie's hand, begging to be scratched. "I'm itchy. Right... right... there! Ahhhhh..." If a dragon could melt, then Caylith was doing just that. Her tongue lolled out, and the newborn queen sat down on her hauches. Faceted eyes whirled a soft blue-green-purple, an array of colors that fluctuated like a living rainbow as Josie scratched the ridge of bone just over her eye. The rider laughed and glanced towards the bronze riders, who were dismounting from their partners and walking over. At the head of the group, a tall man with all the bearing of a cocky son-of-a-b***h (pardon my French) and a helmet under his arm looked from Caylith, to Evith, to Josie, and finally, to Terrance. He smirked and held up a hand to the rest of the group, who fell still as the taller rider stepped up to the girls to form a triangle.

Markhus was laying by the lake and he was watching as Serath flew in the air. Serath's sapphire scales glinted as the sun passed over them. Serath was flying in a complicated pattern that Markhus had sent into his mind through their bond. The dragon finished the flight pattern and Markhus sent a blast of water at Serath. Serath used the complicated flight pattern that Markhus had just taught him to dodge the aquatic attacks. "That was perfect." Markhus sent the dragon. Thank you, Master. The dragon sent back. Serath always responded to Markhus as 'Master'. Markhus never knew why but he allowed the dragon to do so.
Markhus squinted as Serath landed in front of him. Serath walked over to him and nudged him to his feet. "You ready to head to the kitchens, Serath?" Markhus asked as he stood up and mounted the dragon. Yes. The dragon sent into Markhus's mind. Markhus could tell that Serath was hungry because he was too. Serath and Markhus had been training most of the day. Markhus would send the flight patterns into Serath's head and then the dragon would perform them. Markhus would then manipulate the water from the lake and shoot them at Serath. Serath would dodge the attacks using the flight patterns that Markhus had taught him. They trained 5 days and then rested for 2 days. It was the same routine every week and Markhus preffered it that way.
"Let's go, Serath." Markhus said. The dragon opened his wings and leaped into the air. He flapped his wings and soared towards the kitchens. Markhus looked out over the landscape with his elven eyes. He had the increased eyesight and hearing of an elf but his ears weren't pointed and he wasn't as graceful as a full-blood elf.

Now, bronze rider Kandel had seen a lot in his time, but for the two queen riders who now stood before him, it was a first. Shaking off his awe at the sight of the two golden hides of the queens, he smirked, a cocky, "high-and-mighty" look that would have made his blood boil had it not been him performing it. Full of arrogance, the bronze rider bowed to the two, and the others behind him followed suite. "Lady riders, we are at your service. Do tell, which of you is senior?" He rose from his bow, confident that they had not yet decided upon this grave matter. It was Kandel's intention to gain the favor of the Weyrwoman, and teach her himself about workings in the Weyr. Thus putting himself in a seat of power, for the rider would be close to the queen, and his own bronze would be the first to know when she was close to mating. Serath landed outside the kitchens. Markhus went in and was suprised by the excited talking of the many people in the kitchen. Dragon riders of every age were talking about the Hatching. Many people got excited about the Hatchings but they never got this excited. Markhus hadn't attended the Hatching so he didn't know what everyone was so excited about. He knew that the queen of dragons had died and that everyone was hoping for another one to be born during this Hatching. Markhus grabbed one of the younger dragonrider and found out about all of the excitement. "What is going on?" Markhus asked the boy. "Two golden queen dragons hatched during the Hatching. This has never happened before and no one knows which one will be the senior Dragon Queen." The young boy said, excited. Markhus released him and he scurried off to talk with his friends.
Markhus closed his eyes and looked for Serath. The dragon was flying above the Feeding Grounds and was about to scoop down on a defenseless cow. Markhus smiled and opened his eyes again. He grabbed some food quickly before he was swamped by the excited weyrriders. He took his food and exited the kitchen again before he lost all train of thought. He walked to Barracks where he knew there would be even more commotion. He wanted to see the new blue dragons more than the new gold dragon queens. He entered the barracks and noticed the bronze dragonrider, Kandel, talking to the two new golden dragonriders. Markhus sighed irritably. The bronze dragonriders were always so ambitious. They all wanted their dragons to mate with the queen so they could have leadership powers. Markhus found it disgusting personally. He looked around for any new blue dragons.

((Pretty picture, Josie! 3nodding <3)) arrow Weyrling BarracksTerrance, who had laughed moments before at Caylith's silly antics, quickly fell silent at the approach of the bronzerider, struggling to force her face into a blank and impassive expression, hoping to appear mature, calm, and collected. She raised her chin defiantly, setting her jaw. Josie was right-- whoever said that there couldn't be a pair of Weyrwomen? Times have changed. There were two queens now, and a decision had to be made.
About to answer his question with a bold reply, she stopped as Evith quickly relayed the bronze dragon's cautioning message. "Careful, Terrance! He's going to test us." The dragon raised her head, flapping her wings fretfully.
Terrance closed her mouth and instead dipped her head in acknowledgement of the arrogant bronze rider, giving herself more time to think up an intelligent reply. "We are grateful for your offer of service," she told Kandek formally. The young dragonrider glanced sideways at Josie, hoping the other queen rider would approve of her response, for she had decided on a reply: an honest one. It would not do to make a decision on the spot. It would only cause more trouble than would admitting that they had not decided on who would be senior.
"We have not yet decided. Only understandable, really, since we have only just met," she told him, infusing her voice with undercurrents of haughty reproach almost undetectable... but not quite. "I am Terrance, and my gold is Evith."

Tom remained motionless, seated upon a polished marble stone. As he began finishing off the last few minutes of his meditation session. 'Thud!' revertebrated through the air. Tom kept his form still and motionless as he continued to concentrate on the task at hand. 'Thud!' the sound passed again this time closer. Tom's features tensed as he worked to control his instincts and to concentrate on whats at hand.
'Thud!' The loudest, and closest so far, as it seems to even shake the air around him. Tom opened up his conciousness trying to locate the source of this distraction with his mind in an attempt to stop it.
'Thud!' A Concusion cut through the air, Tom's eye shot open as his hand immeidatly flew to one of his Knives. A metallic sound filled the air as the blade was unsheathed. Tom remained there in a crouching in case of rogue Whers.
Tom along with the top half of the hill was casted in a shadow as Tom looked up, 'Peace Litte One...It is only I.." A deep voice rumbled through his head.
"Ah...Clothar...Did you have a successful hunt?" Tom said with a smile as he sat back down this time more casually instead of the meditation stance.
Clothar, landed gently for a dragon his size, beside Tom as he arched his neck and snorted sending a puff of flame shooting out of each his nostrils. "I Miss the days when hunting a Deer, was a challenge to me." Clothar replied to Tom through their mental link.
Tom gazed down the hill as he watched the water sparkle with Bronze from the reflection of Clothar's Scales more inpenetrable than the toughest of any steel armour. "Well, Take joy for we may have an upcoming assignment very soon. There has been rumours of band of rogue Dragonets, reported by a group of Dwarves."
Clothar made a loud rumbling voice, as Tom knew from his close bond with his companion that he was laughing. "What is so amusing?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
"Dwarves...Their as blind as a rat when it comes to sight for distance. I would not be surprised if they mistakened them for a Whers." Clothar said, his previous laughter died down to chuckles. He than began amusing himself by sending small fireballs the size of grapefruits towards the creek. Watching it steam as it made contact with the wet surface.

We recognize your initiative, bronze rider Kandel, but do remember that tradition requires you lend your services to us. On the other note... The smaller woman cocked her head as Caylith counseled her through their link. Josie's eyes became hazy until they broke off -a small, gentle smirk on her face that did not sit at all well on the gold rider's features. ... As you cannot officially prove which hatched first bewteen Caylith and Evith, then we are both Weyrwoman by default. The Weyrleader will be chosen by which ever rises to mate first, but if Terrance so chooses, we will be comrades-in-arms. Matching his tone, the normally child-like Frenchwoman could indeed sting. For added effect to what she'd said, Josie called Caylith over, and the infantile dragon nudged her rider out of the way and craned her nexk up, her head resting eye-to-eye with the bronze rider. Golden scales rustled against smooth stone floors, and the faceted eyes met with those of Kandel -whirling a soft yellow- green. Markhus smiled as he watched the two Weyrwomen handle themselves. Kandel wouldn't be able to fool these two women. Markhus walked out of the barracks and closed his eyes again. He searched for Serath and found that the dragon was flying behind him. Markhus turned around and Serath landed next to him. "Where do we go now, Serath?" Markhus asked the dragon as he mounted. I would like to return to the pastures if you don't mind, Master. Serath sent into Markhus's head. "That's fine with me. You can drop me near the outskirts of the pasture." Markhus replied. Serath jumped into the air gracefully and flew towards the pastures.
Markhus looked down on the people and dragons and remembered something. I already know about the two golden dragon queens. Serath sent before Markhus could even open his mouth. "It always amazes me how you know what I am about to say before I say anything." Markhus said, smirking. It's our bond. I'm suprised you haven't learned to do it, also. Serath replied. "You are only a year old and yet you are much closer to me than mastering your dragon skills." Markhus said. It's because dragons mature faster than humans do. It is good sometimes but it also means we age faster. Serath replied.
Markhus looked down and noticed that they were flying over the pastures. He noticed another blue dragon and figured it was Clorath. You're right. It's Clorath and Tom. Serath sent. "Thank you, Serath." Serath landed in the pastures and Markhus dismounted. He walked over to a tree stump and sat down looking out at the other dragons. Serath flew off and circled above the ground.

"Just don't get too cocky," Evith cautioned, her tone warning but also filled with amusment.
Terrance nodded slightly, acknowledging her dragon's counsel. Then she tossed her head and looked over at Josie. "I think that is a wise decision," she told the other rider gravely, nodding. "I am happy to share the honor of Weyrwoman, comrade." She looked over at Kandel again to guage his reaction.
Evith was laughing quietly over their mental link-- Terrance could hear her dragon's pleasant, low rumbly chuckle. "Oho, look at that face. He just hates being bossed around, especially by young women." The dragon followed Caylith's example and stretched her neck up, meeting Kandel eye-to-eye, increasing the intensity of the pressure exerted from their gazes. Bronze rider Kandel managed to keep his composure as both queens came to meet him eye-to-eye, though his face turned red under their gaze. Teeth clenched, he bowed to the queens, stepping back before rising. His amber eyes burned with a fiery hatred as he eyed the united Weyrwoman, but there was nothing he could do... for now. "Mi' ladies, if that is your decision, than I support you fully. I bid you goodbye now." Gesturing towards the other bronzes, he turned to leave. Some of the riders looked hesitantly from the new Weyrwoman to Kandel, but a good many joined him -final proof that this would not be the last confrontation. Of those riders remained, most of them were older -people who had been here long before Kandel, and supported the Weyr's traditional system regardless of who was running it. Even as Terrance and Josie would watch, several of them would be nodding to each other, ready to support the queen riders wholly.

The young gold dragon looked sidelong at Terrance. I can't help it... I just don't like him, she told her rider. Puts me on edge. His bronze is decent, though, she added as an afterthought.
Terrance laughed outloud, then quieted, knowing that no one else around her would realize what she was laughing at. Just don't get any ideas. Imagine, if you mated that bronze-- we'd be stuck with him. Evith grimaced at the thought, her disgust apparent through their mental link.
Terrance chuckled again, then turned to those the bronzes that were left, granting them a genuine smile. She dipped her head. "Bronze riders, what can we do for you?" she asked.
