"Tree sounds good," Mayu replied, reaching over to dip her fingers in paint once more before starting to paint a trunk beside the heart-shaped flowers. It was a little off, considering the fact that she was using yellow paint instead of brown, but the child was pleased with her creation.
"Thank you!" Verde chimed, following after Yeine quickly. She stopped at the door, looking inside with an interested glance while quickly counting numbers on her fingers. How many kids were there in that class, anyway? It would be bad if they brought back too little uniforms or too many.

Ying didn't reply, instead working on the puffy, multicolored cloud she was trying to paint in next to her sun. But it was getting difficult to work; the paint on her hands was drying out, and every stroke left her with less to work with.
"About a dozen, I think," Yeine estimated. The class had been maybe thirty kids, including the four intruders. Of them, maybe half had the sense to take shelter under a table or in the closet. And a couple weren't all that dirty. "Somewhere between ten and fifteen, I think. How about we each grab seven?"

"We need more paint," Mayu spoke up quite suddenly, poking the small puddle of paint on the ground which had dried up quickly. She had been in the middle of adding leaves to her tree, but had to stop due to a shortage of paint on her hands. The thing looked quite horrible now, with a yellow trunk and a half-finished clump of red on the top.
"We should bring a few extra, just in case there were more than we thought," Verde mused, counting out a few uniforms and belts, then stacking them into a neat pile onto the floor so that she could carry them easier.

A few minutes ago, Ying would have screamed in horror at the thought of more paint. She would have said that she'd had more than enough paint to last her a lifetime. And she might have even run away. But looking at her unfinished mural critically, she nodded. "You're right. Where can we get some?"
"You're right," Yeine agreed, "but we don't want to take too many, or the teacher will get mad. He's got students too, and they probably need some." At the same time, they didn't want to return with too few. Frowning, Yeine bit her lip and looked around. They couldn't take too many, but they couldn't take too few either. How could they make it perfect?

"Don't know," Mayu replied, scratching the side of her cheek --- as she always did when she was faced with a difficult problem --- with a colorful finger. "The other girls' clothing are probably dried already, too."
Where could they get more paint? Unless someone had stashed away a paint bottle or two, they were out of luck.
"Let's each take two extra," Verde suggested, "then come back with extra uniforms if we have any left. It looks like he has enough uniforms to clothe two classes, anyway..."
She surveyed the closet once more, giving a shrug as she slung the belts over her shoulder. If only they had thought to count the amount of dirty people in the class before coming here!

"Probably the art room," Ying said, thinking aloud. "But I doubt the teacher's just gonna let us go back and raid the paint, not after what happened." Nor would the teacher be pleased that they were painting on the walls, but Ying didn't think about that. What had happened before had been chaos. This was tasteful decoration. There was a world of difference.
Nodding, Yeine picked up two extra. Then, when she felt Verde wasn't looking, she put one of them back. It was a minimal difference in terms of the overall number of uniforms, but she didn't want to make the teacher mad at them, and even a small gesture like that might be enough to make a difference.
Then, before her action was noticed, she grabbed a handful of multicolored belts and hurried out of the door. "We'd better not keep them waiting."

"Me neither," Mayu replied, frowing her brow in thought. "What if we go back to the art room without asking the teacher? We can sneak there and back pretty quickly, if we remember the way..."
Of course, they were probably in enough trouble already. But she couldn't just let her tree remain uncompleted!
Verde was slightly tottering, trying to see over the stack of uniforms as best as she could. She followed Yeine as quickly as she could without dropping the stack, which left her a few paces behind as she hurried out.

Pursing her lips, Ying considered the options. Asking the teacher was definitely out. There was no guarantee that they wouldn't get caught, and she didn't want to get into even more trouble. But leaving a masterpiece unfinished was also a crime. The question was, which crime was worse.
"Okay," she finally answered. "But we have to be sneaky."
"It should be quicker getting back!" Yeine called, pausing only briefly at the door of the classroom to bow to the teacher. Then she was off, nearly running down the hallway. It was easier, since they didn't have to stop and look in each room on the way.

"Let's go, then," Mayu whispered, standing up and looking about to make sure no one could see them. She snuck out of the locker room silently, stopping every once in a while to check that no one was following them.
"Now... do you remember the way we took to get here?" she asked, voice remaining in a whisper, as they exited the pool room and out into the hallway. She hadn't been paying attention much during the walk over, just following the rest of the crowd as they walked along.
"Thanks again," Verde nodded to the teacher, following after Yeine to the best of her ability. She wasn't too agile to begin with, and she quickly fell behind step once more due to the uniforms blocking her view. The Jumi tried to hurry up, but found it impossible to catch up with Yeine's running.
She gasped for breath at a corner, stopping to take a rest before continuing on. Her arms were getting tired under all of those uniforms and belts!

"Uh... not really." Ying shrugged helplessly, following Mayu in a crouch. "Yeinie usually keeps track of the directions and stuff." And even when Ying made a conscious attempt at keeping track of where she was, she had no real skill with it. In fact, when she tried, she usually got even more lost than when she just wandered aimlessly.
"Here." Backtracking a few steps, Yeine took a few uniforms off of Verde's stack and added them to her own. It was more cumbersome that way, but the Cathar was a bit more agile than her companion, and viewed the exercise as training. Perhaps one day, when she was a Jedi, she would have to do something similar. A Jedi had to be prepared for anything, and she would be too.

"That's a problem," Mayu replied, smacking her forehead --- but lightly! At least they could go back in if they wanted to, but that would have been a complete waste of their efforts to sneak outside in the first place. She looked around on the ground for any traces of paint, surely one of the kids must have dripped a trail for them to follow, seeing how drenched with color some of them were.
"Thank you," Verde replied, nodding as Yeine took some of the load off of her arms. She would have to repay the other girl somehow, later. With some of the weight gone, and a clear sight, the Jumi was able to catch up, lingering a few steps behind Yeine as she walked at her quick pace.

"We're almost there," Yeine called, as a sort of encouragement for both the Jumi and herself. And they were, too. The martial arts room hadn't been all that far from the changing rooms in the first place. Breaking into a run, she rounded the nearest corridor. "Almost there- Ying?"
Ying shrieked as she got a face full of clean uniforms. At least, they were clean before they hit the paint-streaked girl. "Yeinie! Oh good, you're here!" Unaware of the trouble she was in, she grabbed Yeine's wrist. "Can you show us where the art room is? We need more paint."

Verde was getting a bit tired out once more, slowing as Yeine had started to run. She turned the corner to see the crash, stopping to place her own stack of uniforms on the ground before walking over to help clean up the mess.
"We need to finish the picture we were drawing," Mayu added, wiggling her fingers to make sure that the paint did not make them stiff. "Will you help us?" she asked, giving a sheepish grin.

Oh right, she'd forgotten to explain! But Mayu was good and remembered, so between the two of them they'd have all the bases covered. Bouncing on her heels, Ying added, "That's right! And you know that you can't leave a picture unfinished!"
Yeine, surprised, looked from one paint-covered girl to the other. "Weren't you supposed to be cleaning up?" she asked softly. She loved Ying, really, but sometimes the girl made her so frustrated! "And... what were you drawing on, anyway?"

"The wall," Mayu replied to Yeine's second question, without giving her reply any thought. She gave a toothy grin, hoping that it would help convince the other girl to take them back to the mess of an art room. She was rather good at persuading people to do things --- when she knew the person well, at least. With Yeine, she had hardly a clue.
Verde folded the uniforms slowly, stacking them into a pile besides her. She clearly had no intention of joining the conversation, she would just go with the flow on whatever the older girls decided. It was easier this way, and she would have less blame placed on her when they were finally caught and punished.
