Sumner nodded, but made a silent gulp at the term "hunting" and his king's smile. But if it was for a prince, he would do it, even if a hyena was an animal just like they were. "Yes, sir, hunt we will..."

Rounce hadn't waited for another invitation. Making sure Sky Dance was still well balanced on his back he charged westward, lean muscle ripple as he panted. He hadn't expected to do so much running today, he hadn't even bothered to train this morning!
His claws dug into the ground with each step for extra traction and he kept his eyes narrowed and focused forward. A prince would not fall into the jaws of a mangy mongrel such as a hyena.

Ballad turned and leapt into motion, strides fluid and graceful. In truth, he would not kill unless he had to. Would not wound the hyenas unless they would not be scared off. He loathed bloodshed, unlike his black son.
Kelakohr snuggled to his mother and nodded to Tala, watching his father move away with grace and anger in every step. He didn't know if he feared the hyenas or Aveshar more, but he certainly didn't envy the elders their hunt.
Ballad drew even with Rounce, able to keep up easily without SkyDance's added weight. He glanced at the young female and wondered if she was alright with accompanying them, and found himself wishing she and Tala had stayed at the Den... If Aveshar slunk back into the Den to hurt Sunisra.... Pawbeats filled the air like Angry Music, the Song was ready for a fight.

Rounce caught Ballad's glance, and his returning look was one of confidence. He would neverallow anyone to put Sky Dance in danger if he felt it was too much forher to take.
The pawbeats made the blood rush in his ears. All he heard was the whirlng of the wind and his mind screaming orders to him. He curved himself outward a bit. He would cut between the hyenas and the young prince. No need to startle the little thing by getting on his heels.

Ballad nodded, returning the smile. If Rounce felt he could protect SkyDance, then he could. Turning back to the grounds before him, Ballad felt his heart sink. He could see hyenas, the gaunt, spotted mongrels that prowled the plains. Anger rose in him. Aveshar was nowhere to be found. He opened his great jaws and roared, and smiled when they froze in shock. They weren't expecting the King to come and drive them from his lands... What a shame.

Rounce roared a blood curdleing battle-cry. His eyes turned cold, glaring at the mutts. oh how he wanted to get into thatfight.. but he was told to look for the prince, and would do as told.
He slowed his pace, lifting his head into the air and sniffing nearby plants. Aveshar had been this way, but he must have passed with speed for the scent was starting to stale. Rounce looked at the ground now. Foot-prints, a bit of fur, anything would send him on the right track.

Ballad roared in rage. He slowed and searched, hunting for the same clues. Pawprints, furr, bent blades of grass that would indicate the cub had slunk by. Only tracks made by hyenas... He turned his eyes on the nearest one and it gave a skittish laugh. He lunged toward it, smacking out with a broad forepaw. It landed with a solid smack and left a half ring of bloody holes, a mark from his claws. The battlescarred male yipped and shot off. "Do what you will Rounce...."

Sumner followed behind, roaring with them. True, the hyenas may deserve it, but to be beat upon by lions so much larger? He couldn't disobey his king though...
With another roar he lunged at a hyena who simply cackled at him and snarled in the mongrel's face. The smirk completely faded from it's face as it dug it's claws into Sumner's cheek. With a howl on anger the lion smacked the hyena aside with a dull snap of bone from the hyena's cheek. Where was the prince? He glanced to Rounce -that was his job in this hunt...

Rounce shook his head at Sumner. No sign of the prince. With his kings go ahead he let Sky Dance off near a tree so she could climb up it. "You try anything stupid and you'll be dealing with me..." He narrowed his eyes completely serious.
He then bolted off toward the thickest group of Hyenas. Rearing up, claws extended, he brought his whole weight down on two of them, crushing their shoulders. A deep scowl was on his face as he looked at the others. They were not concerned by the downfall of their brothers, and pushed on.

"I'm not the fighter here..." Sky Dance muttered in reply, quickly climbing up to a high branch, proffiting from her smaller size, where she could watch the field in its fullest. While the powerful males down below fought the flea bags, she scouted all around from above, trying to find the smallest inkling of a lion kit moving about. If he was still there...

"Did you see a kit." Ballad growled as he held down a young male and snarled in its face. The hyena cackled in fear and shook its head, fairly flying when he freed it with a snarl. It took off like a shot, tail tucked between his legs. Ballad snorted and shook his head, convinced the hyena had told the truth. They hadn't seen Aveshar. But then, where was he?

A solitary black figure melted away into the twilight, beyond his father's rule... Beyond his mother's protective gaze... Beyond his troubling sister and irritating brother... Away from the white kit he wanted to wound so badly... There would be other times... But he couldn't stand living in that pride any more... Temple's Decorations was not the place for a DarkFayth.. There was too much, good, in that land.. He shook his head and smiled wickedly. He was off to find a land that was more... More him... A land that resonated with the darkness in him... A land that would not tolerate his mother or lions of her kind... They did not belong near him... He wanted darkness and shadows and mist for company... "Good ridance." He murmured, and left his birth-home behind.
Whistle curled up in her den, wrapping her body protectively around her three remaining kits... Down to three... Like her last litter.... Two girls and a boy again... But she had another son this time! And he was out there... Out beyond their Den or their Pride Lands... Beyond her watchful eye... Even if Aveshar wasn't like his siblings... He was still her son... Even if he wasn't like his parents... He was still part of the family... "Why did you have to leave?" She wondered. "I loved you no matter what..."

Tala bounded from rock to rock, scanning the area for the prince. He wasn't going back to that den without somesort of information on the whereabouts of the prince. He paused on a rock, and stared out and around. Where could the prince have gone? It just didn't make any sence. He had senced the prince was different from the rest, but to run off at such a young age? That was crazy.

((Time skip to update the Pride... ^.^))
King Ballad paced the border of his lands, sighing to himself. It had been a week since his black son had dissappeared... Aveshar.. The shadow of the Pride, it was true, but still.. He was a prince... And one so young... Part of the family... Ballad's family... And he was gone... It hurt Ballad's heart to think he had one less son to love now... And even if Casalure had been staying closer to home to mend his father, it was only a partial healing. Only Aveshar could fix this, and stars knew he didn't want to. "I hope you are well, wherever you are, my son." Ballad sighed to the night sky, and turned back to his sleeping Pride.
Queen Whistle was curled around her cubs, eyes fixed on the cave mouth. Sleeping? No.. The Indigo Queen was resisting sleep, at least until her mate returned to her. With news of their son? Most likely not... But oh how she wished! He might have been a difficult child, but she loved him. He might have been a child of darkness, but he was still her's! "I wish you would have let me love you." She said softly, wrapping her tail more firmly around her remaining three cubs. "I so wanted to love you Aveshar..."
It wasn't so bad being at the Pride... Not really... Sure there were fewer new lions to meet, and less to explore, but Cas didn't mind.. He had his family to wartch over, and enough lands to go slinking through on a short walk... The only problem was his sisters, and keeping them in check. Songstress was missing... Rather, STILL missing... Casalure didn't know where she had gone off to, but he hoped she would return soon. It had been raining for most of the day, and only stopped now... Just after dusk.. To breath cool winds over the land. It was a lovely night.. A night he would have liked to wander in... But not while his sister was gone.. Someone had to be here to keep Dancer in place! Thinking of his sister, he glanced over at where she slept, and smiled.
PyreDancer slept heavily... She had been wandering until the thunderstorm kicked up, and then returned to the Den... Lately, helping her mother tend her siblings was her favorite thing to do, and secretly she found herself thinking about having her own family. Dreams spun around in her head, drawing a smile across her face.

Rounce padded into the den. It had gotten a bit too chilly outside for his liking. He hung near the entrance, just far enough inside to escape the cool breezes. When he spotted Casalure he smiled. He knew the prince liked to go on walks on nice evenings. He bowed his head respectully. "If you'd like to take a walk, Casalure, I'll keep an eye on your sister." Such a worried brother.. One Rounce would have liked to have known growing up.
