What I really hate about Resident Evil 4, what I think Capcom really messed up on, is that you can't turn off the music and keep the sound effects. Sure, it's possible to play the game with just music, but in RE4, you rely so much on sound effects that it would make is twice as difficult. I mean, when someone creeps up on you from behind, you know they're gonna hit you because you hear that maniacal laugh. But with no sound, you're SOL. In previous RE games, you turn the music off, put on something else you want and play, you still hear the sombies, hunters etc. creeping up on you off screen.

The only RE game I currently own is RE four. I just mute the tv or turn the volume all the way down. Then, I would just play something random, like Rob Zombie or something.

While I think that Metallica would be great mood music for killing zombies, or even the soundtrack of the Resident Evil movie, I'd rather leave the music in the game on. Muting it is a giant mistake, as unless you've played the game so many times you know where every enemy is, you need to hear where someone might be trying to sneak up on you. And the soundeffects add to the creepy atmosphere, and Resident Evil isn't Resident Evil without scaring you shitless with a sudden evil laugh from behind you.

I'm still a bit pissed that you can't turn off the Music while leaving sound effects in RE4. Seriously, I was not impressed with RE4's music... I got so much stuff that would sound better to it... But if I can the sound completely, then anytime some a*****e ganado is about to attack me from behind, I won't be able to hear that laughter they do... You really rely on sound effects in RE4. Bad move, Capcom... You allow separate controls for Music and SFX in REmake, RE0... But not RE4... What the hell gives?

Well when I plan on sitting with RE for a long time (usually more than an hour) I like to listen to my MP3 player. Mostly Metal and some Techno on there, so adrenaline music. The songs from RE are ok, but i have to be in the mood to hear it.

Eh, I listen to weird stuff when I play an RE game. Once I was playing the target game mini game in RE4 and I started up Numa Nua (Dragosta din tei) because It helps me thik better. Another time I played Surrender by cheap trick when I was fighting nemesis in the third one. I just sorta play what feel sgood for the moment.

I only listen to the in-game music and sound effects. If I listened to music while playing I wouldn't hear a nearby zombie/creature and then probably sustain massive damage, or be killed.

Oh, I listen to the song Reanimator when I play now, becaus eof the line 'Move your dead bones, bons, bones.' because it makes me think of all the dead things I'm fighting.

pr0n music. Sometimes just the noises rofl. It's kind of a funny thing because I made a stupid bet with a friend about how many people I can get to come, thinking that I'm watching porn. I counted thirty, while my friend did 40 <_< b*****d... Either way though, it's somehow funny to put on groaning and moaning sounds when a zombie is biting down on you, right at the same time someone comes in to see what you're watching and it's like 'wtf?'
But of course, other than that, I do listen to either the game's song - or nothing at all.

I really can't play Resident Evil while listening to something else. I like to hear ever creak, groan and other sound sof the enviroment of the game.
Last time I tried I ended up missing the tell tale crash of a door and ran right into the arms of Nemesis. He was probably happy and I had to start where I had last saved an hour before. sweatdrop

Yeah, but in RE4, you WANNA listen to something just so that you don't have to hear that annoying music.
