Alex almost frowned when he backed away, but what she had seen in his eyes had made her more sure of herself. She nodded at his words, chastising herself for her lack of focus. She walked the few steps over to him and stood right infront of him, gazing into his eyes again.
It takes a lot of practice to open up to people, too she said softly, looking away shortly afterwards.
Her next dragon was almost perfect. The tail was a bit out of proportion to the body, but she didn't care much at the moment. It was also a bit smaller than her previous dragon, but it didn't matter. All four feet stood evenly on the ground and it took off into the air with ease. Alex concentrated, heat starting to rise from her body.
The dragon was flying up and out, climbing through the air over the rising slopes. Twenty feet, and it was still strong. Thirty . . . forty . . . fifty . . . Alex fell from the effort and shook her head, trying to clear it of the light-headedness she suddly felt as the world started swimming before her eyes in dizziness.

Draco arched an eyebrow when she walked to stand in front of him, mentally fighting the emotions he was feeling. He managed to keep them away from his eyes this time, and to have almost an empty expression in them. He had opened his mouth to respond to her, but was caught speechless without even knowing why. He simply watched her in silence as she created her dragon, his mouth closing to smirk a little at the imperfections that he saw. That's right, Draco. Keep her far away. Don't let her get too close. That's the story of your life, isn't it? Focus on the imperfections instead of the beauty that stands right before you. He could've sworn that he was hearing the voice of Alma in his head.
He blinked for a moment at the thoughts he had just had, tilting his head a little to the left. What, had Alma somehow become his conscience? He was debating this in his mind when he caught a bit of movement through the corner of his eye and quickly looked in that direction. Without another thought, he was by Alex's side, a hand on her shoulder. "Are you alright, Alex?" he asked, furrowing his brow with concern. It took him a moment to realize what he had just done, and he quickly pulled his hand away from her and moved his face to appear impassive once more.

Alex looked up at him, seeing two Dracos instead of one. She shook her head and tried looking at him again; only one somewhat fuzzy Draco. She nodded slowly.
Yeah, I'll be fine she said, not ready to try and rise to her feet yet. Why did he have to keep confusing her? Men she thought to herself with a sigh as she looked about her for something to occupy her.
Harry had been unable to locate Bastien and was quite exhausted. He had asked around at the 'Dome and found that Alex was with Draco in the Nightshade fields. They were now right in front of him.
He wasn't quite sure how he felt. He had known that Alex had had feelings for Draco for some time now, and it hadn't bothered him. But . . . was Draco toying with her? He'd have to have a talk with him later . . . if he wasn't interested, he needed to tell her rather than keep her hopes up.
Harry had been watching for some time now and had seen her face as they interacted. She was going from delightedly happy to crestfallen back and forth so fast that it almost made Harry's head spin.
He had to admit though, her dragons were looking a lot better now. He couldn't help but smile and hope that Draco wouldn't hurt his sister or that, if he had to, he do it quickly before she had too much time to dwell on it. Wait . . . it had suddenly dawned on him. He could play this out really well.
Harry rose from where he had been crouching and walked quickly and purposefully towards the pair, a flaming dragon already in the air as to not startle the pair. Harry stopped by Alex, making sure she was okay, then turned to Draco, making sure to look like he was pissed.
Draco he said, his voice commanding, a word? He ignored Alex's broken pleas that it hadn't been Draco's idea and gestured some thirty or so feet away, where he and Draco could be out of earshot. He was going to have too much fun with this.

Draco nodded, about to reach for her hand to help her up when Harry suddenly appeared. He looked over his shoulder at the man before rising to his feet and brushing bits of dirt off of his robes. He looked rather...angry to say the least. Already, he could feel himself getting incredibly defensive.
"Of course, Harry." he simply said, his voice having just a hint of coldness. And what the heck did I do? he thought with a little bit of confusion. It then dawned on him what Harry could think that he was doing. He did a quick look from Alex to Harry before making his way off to the spot and waiting for Harry to begin to speak.

Harry stopped as soon as he was sure they would be out of earshot. He glanced back at Alex fondly and looked back to Draco, suddenly amicable.
Sorry, had to act upset for her sake he started, knowing that he probably wasn't making much sense to Draco. He cleared his throat and continued. I . . . don't mean to get into your business or anything but . . . Alex . . . has feelings for you he said, pausing to figure out how best to proceed. She's a rather sensitive gal, not too sure what she sees in you, but she must see something I don't. Well, nevertheless . . . all I really wanted to say is . . . if you don't return the feelings, could you let her know as soon as possible?? he said, pausing again, expecting Draco to be quite confused. He glanced back at Alex again before continuing.
I . . . was watching you guys for a while and . . . her heart has been jumping at practically everything you say or do and . . . I just don't want to see her hurt or . . . if you have to, just do it quickly he said. His tone was soft, but there was an underlying threat, soft but clear.

Draco furrowed his brow in absolute confusion. Alexandra actually had feelings for him? He figured that she was only flirting with him, like a few other females had. He had never dreamed that she actually could feel...more...for him. He looked away from Harry to stare off into the distance for a few seconds. Did he feel something for her? He felt a little bit, but had only cited that off as attraction. Was there something more? He searched, and searched, but saw that no, at this moment, there was nothing more than attraction and an interest to get to know her better.
But this new knowledge...this changed everything. Suddenly, he could see himself getting to know Alex on a more intimate relationship sort of level. One beyond friendship. He could see them holding hands as they walked, feel his hand running through her hair when they kissed...there was definitely something there that had the potential to pop up, and he knew it.
However, he also wasn't sure how to proceed further. He was afraid to hurt her, and that suddenly scared him. He had never been afraid of hurting someone before, albeit his sisters. No, he had always wanted to be the one to cause pain. And Alexandra deserved so much more than that.
He looked up at Harry finally, his brow still furrowed. "...I...don't know what I feel. She's beautiful, and smart, and kind, but...I just don't know."

Harry nodded. Well, at least he seemed to be being honest with him. Well as soon as you know . . . that's all I ask Harry said with a nod and walking off to leave them alone.
Alex had recovered enough to walk to where Draco was now standing alone and look up into his face.
Please don't tell me he yelled at you . . . what right does he have . . . the nerve . . . she said, fuming. She looked after Harry's retreating form and scowled. So what if he was trying to protect her? She could protect herself. And if he were to dare say that she couldn't be with Draco after Draco had allowed Harry to be with Adele why . . . why she'd kill him! Alex started to pace, rage taking over her.

Draco followed Harry with his eyes silently, listening to Alex speak but not exactly acknowleding her. When he finally did look down at her, he arched an eyebrow. He could feel his heart speeding quickly in his chest. His eyes traced her profile again, this time hesitating on her lips before continuing on. "He did nothing of the sort." he said softly, placing a hand on the girl's shoulder.
"Calm yourself." He leaned forward and, after hesitating again, planted a kiss on her cheek. He leaned back and watched her eyes, his own finally retaining a little bit of emotion. "Do you feel any better?"

She had ceased her muttering when he had placed his hand on her shoulder and her eyes went wide as he kissed her cheek. A tingle lingered there, and it was the most amazing feeling in the world. She was glad that Harry hadn't yelled at Draco, but what had he said? Did she feel any better? She nodded numbly, not sure what to say, but so happy at the moment that her eyes practically danced.

"Good." Almost as soon as he said that, he removed his hand from her shoulder, albeit slowly, and took a single step back to give her some breathing room. "Do you want to practice some more, or get back to the Auradome? We both have matches to rest up for, after all, and mine's tomorrow."
As he spoke, his mind was racing. She deserved better than him. MUCH better than him. But now that he had kissed her cheek, he felt like he couldn't go back. At the moment, he only wanted to be friends with her until he got to know her a little better...but had he just ruined that? It took him a moment to realize that his breathing had been rather shallow since he had kissed her, and he quickly made it go back to normal.

Alex paused thoughtfully, grateful for a topic change to break the awkwardness. Draco was so good at that . . .
Umm, the Auradome, I think she said, pausing to think on it a moment longer. Umm, I know it would be breaking the rules, but I don't think anyone would mind if you stayed in the girl's dorms if Adele hasn't woken up by the time we get back . . . she said, knowing that he'd want to stay with her and having no other hidden thoughts about the matter.

Draco nodded a little, feeling himself get a little lost in her eyes. They were so lovely...such a beautiful shade, too. He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, taking a few steps back once more. "We should get back then."
After hearing what she said about him staying in the girls dorm, he nodded once again. "And I think that that sounds like a good idea. We'll see how she is once we get back."
