"Very well," Lael says. "But if you need me you can just call. I'll go over to where Darian is. It's been a long time since we've seen each other, after all." She dives into the water and makes her way towards shore.

Kitara nods and lies down on the platform, warming up with the sun shining down on her.
'Now, this is a vacation. Able to relax, though due to a migraine, and not have to worry about anything... for a while, at least. I have to figure out supper, too.'
"Well, what about when you were kids?" Trea asks, seated between Darian and her father Jay, "What didja do when you were kids? Didja get in trouble often?"
Jay laughs, rolling his eyes, and says nothing. He awaits Darian's response to Trea's questions.

Lael comes out of the water and makes her way over to Darian, Jay, and Trea. "Hey," she says. "What're you doin'?"

"I s'pose you could say we did." Darian laughs. He turns as he hears Lael's question. "Just trying to pick one of our adventures to tell Trea about."

Jay laughs saying, "Sure, why not? I mean, it is just a recollection of the past, however humorous or boring it was."
Trea smiles and motions for Lael to sit down.
"Well, Kitara, Darian and I were all friends before I became a bluejay. We always got into trouble, somehow. Darian would always initiate the trouble, I'd play along with it and Kitara would get us out of it. ...or so my recollection says."

"Sounds about right." Darian laughs. "What would we have done without her?" He shakes his head as her remembers all the times his cousin has bailed him out.

"Not much," Jay replies with a sigh, "We would have had our necks gone before someone could say 'bop your uncle'. She was always reliable, though a bit timid of bugs and spiders. We got her over those fears quite easily, didn't we, Darian?"
He laughs before saying, "Why don't you tell Trea about that time we scared her with so many bugs that she swore to beat us up if we ever would do that again? ...that was a fun trick, though your parents weren't too thrilled about what you did, nor were my own parents...."

"Oh, man that one was fun." Darian laughs, remembering it vividly. "That was shortly after we first noticed how timid of bugs she was. We, or rather I, Decided we should dump a bucket full of bugs in her bed at night. We spent the whole day catching them. You should know that we were using one of those big buckets that was used to carry in wash water before the days of running water. Then in the middle of the night we crept into her room and dumped the whole bucket on her. She woke up and let out the loudest scream I've ever heard and then threatened to beat us up if we did it again. We never used that many bugs again."

Lael laughs. "That sounds brilliant! I did something similar to my friend once. Only I used snakes. Three of them. I'm not sure if he ever quite forgave me."

"I'm surprised Kitara doesn't have a problem with snakes after this one time." Darian laughs. "There was a cave near our village that everyone said not to go into so, being the troublemaker I was, I went in. Kitara followed to get me out of trouble if need be. Turns out the cave was full of snakes. None of them were venomous but they still bite. One bit me right on the neck. Jay wasn't there for that one but once we got back it took weeks to convince him I wasn't a vampire."

Trea, wide eyed already, turns to her dad and says, "You thought he was a vampire?!"
Jay sighs deeply before glaring at the elf beside him.
"Yeh, I did. ...and every so often I still wonder if he isn't part vampire, with his crazy ways and all...."
