Rebecca_Lupin DazzlingCherry12 Rebecca_Lupin hello my fellow clarinetheads (as my band director Mr. S. likes to call us) Clarinetheads? Hmm...it seems every director has a different name each section. I forgot what Mr. C called clarinets cause he doesn't do it often, but he calls the trumpets trumpet misters. Its always kinda funny when he does that, cause you almost always know he's gonna talk to them about their posture. biggrin our band director only calls the flutes and clarinets fluteheads or clarinetheads. its funny though because the other day we were practicing and his computer said trumpets are #1 and we were all like HEY! that's mean mr. santerre! he told us that someone kept going behind there and messing it up. and he didn't know how to change it. He could burn cd's but he can't change a screensaver. we called him electronically chalenged. Yeah, my elementary school band director had both a clarinet and a sax tie (he loves ties) and whenever he wore the clarinet tie, the clarinets would all be happy but whenever he wore the sax tie we would all get mad at him. It was quite funny. And trumpets are SO NOT #1. I have no idea where he got that statement!

We don't have any special section names. Clarinets, Trumpets (or sometimes Cornets), Flutes, Baritones, etc. These are lumped into Woodwinds and Brass, which together make the Wind section. Sometimes our band director calls Winds "horns," which is confusing, since we don't know whether he's talking about all of us, or just the Mellophones (French Horns).

Horns? But the woodwinds aren't horns!!!! Weird.
My middle school director used to always forget that there was an oboe in our band (except when we were tuning). He would say, "Okay, flutes play this for me," and it wasn't until either later or until we mention it, that the oboe player has the same part. Maybe it was because we just had one oboe player. It happened when my friend switched to bassoon as while, but he forgot her all the time when we were tuning. biggrin Times like these that it makes me glad that I play the best instrument of them all, clarinet.

Well, you know the commands. "Band, horns up!" applies to all the winds, so it's convenient to just call us horns, too.

Hey hey! I'm the new guy here! I'll just introduce myself...
I play clarinet, I'm a freshman, I'm first chair in the freshman band, and I'm loud. I started in 6th grade, and I also used to play piano and currently play guitar. My clarinet is named Colette and my guitar is named Ronin. And I'm damn sexy.
PS: My avatar has a funny hat.

I went and played basketball all the time (although I'm not a basketball person, and I discovered that I was pretty good at it too...) with my friends and my band director ( sweatdrop ) who was helping out and doing sectionals with the flutes when we had sectionals. He was such a mean basketball player. My friends and I called him Meany Foot-Stepper Blocker player or something like that. It was quite fun. Oh, oh, oh! *drags thought out of memories* And you can't forget those cold, cold, freezing cold mornings where you wake up and go put on your jeans, only to discover that they are so cold, they feel wet. I mean, to get them to a decent temperature in the mornings, you have to sleep with them in your sleeping bag all night to warm them with your body heat. That's why you see everyone still wearing pajamas in the morning to breakfast. And the hot chocolate! OoOoOoOoOoOo...they had the best hot chocolate. I swear, my friends and I (hot chocolate phantics) drank gallons every day. biggrin

Hahahaha...we clarinets are all Evil Little Goblins. And we break chairs. biggrin We don't have wars in band, but it sounds fun. Clarinet vs. Tubas in our band wouldn't exactly work because we only have one tuba and we have, about, eight clarinets. Same with the flutes. The trombones would be sadly in the minority (big minority!!!). I think, last year, we had Clarinet vs. Trumpet wars though. I dunno who exactly won. But lets just say the clarinets did, just for the sake of saying. wink GO CLARINETS!

When I came back from my second year of band camp (this past summer) I made a book, a page for every single person whose name I could remember....I wrote all the inside jokes and messages with that person, and then I sent it to another school with a freind so that she could get anyone who was in the book to sign it/write a message on their page...Twas fun...^.^
CLARINETS ROCK MY SOX!!!! <----lol..Band Camp Joke...
