Skingrad is actually 25 thousand, with all the furniture it ends up being around 65 thousand, I bought it for my old character, but I've found that without using cheats it's really hard to make THAT much money. The most money I've ever had was 200 thousand, whereas in morrowind, where I never used any cheats, I had four million by using the Talking Mudcrab.
I wish there were merchants who had at least 20 thousand gold, for instance, the estucheon of Chorrol is worh 16 thousand but the most I can sell it for is 2000 and that's AFTER I become a master of mercantile. Lame.

I make gold really fast and easy in Oblivion. It just get annoying when I have deadric armor to sell and they only buy for a max of 2000 (just an example, I know some buy for more than that). Which makes me think, who pays the most for your goods? (without being a master of Merchantile)

I've recently started playing, so I don't live anywhere yet. I'm thinking about making a home at one of the many abandoned farms.

I am currently living in Skingrad and using the Bravil house as my storage. I have yet to find the Skingrad home's treasure, get a servant, and as always...looking for Frostcrag Spire...

They do. But that's part of the fun. Chasing down some bandits in a cave with a claymore. "GET OFFA MAH PROPERTY." *slash!*
Personally, I live all over the place. I have a character living in the Arcane University, one living in Shetcombe Farm, one living on Gnoll Mountain, one stays at his house in Bruma, and my last character is simply a wandering adventurer, who stays at whatever inn I decide to stop playing at.
