Emi continued to walk towards the man as he whirled around and rubbed his neck, "what the hell is my problem? What the hell is your problem? You had no business with interferring with what was going on! she spoke in a cold and angry tone. As she finally was right infront of him she looked at the book she thrown at him "it is a book" she then sighed, trying to calm her nerves down as she placed her hands into her pockets.

"Of course it's a book." Rubido stared begrudingly down at the page, his dark eyes flicking across its print unfocused. Looking up, he snapped it shut.

"Now listen, little girl. Was that man your friend? You seemed apologetic at attempting to ruin him, so we're going to assume he's your friend." The words were cool and steady, but his eyes sparkled dangerously through the shadow of his hat. Rubido drew himself up so that he could look down at her, ever so slightly, and smiled. "Good people help other people not ruin their friends. The words we spoken as if to a small child, while Rubido clasped his hands behind his back. "Good people also take lessons in good faith, thank their allies for helping them, and don't hit those allies in the back of the head with small, black, books." Sighing, the young man offered Emi her projectile. "Do not call me on "the right to interefere" in times like these. Be thankful I am not immediately asking you something in return."
In the gap between sentances, Rubido's smile was once again friendly and genuine, his glance merely amused. "Now then! What possible thing can I help you with, stranger?"

Emi kept her mouth shut as he spoke to her, hitting some nerves here and there upon how he spoke to her and also about gramps, he was more that a friend to her but it involved the past so she knew to keep her mouth shut. Though her mind started to drift off into "la la" land as the man cotinued to ramble, she knew that if she told him the reason why she did that he would still continue to ramble on and on like this....(As if this man knows the word "good") she thought to herself within her thoughts. She returned back to reality and looked at him and raised a eyebrow so slightly at him "eh? What you were you rambling about? and What the heck are you talking about "helping me"? she spoke in a rather boring tone and smirked as she had finished speaking, at this time while talking she had quickly and smoothly took her book back, as if it just vanished from his own hand, the book was then placed back into her pocket as if she had never moved her hand from her pocket.

Rubido sighed, more amused then exasperated by the girl's question. "Never you mind. I have work to do and," He added, "I'm sure you do as well." Then, with a glance over his shoulder, he elaborated. "If you must talk to me, then you can either state your business or talk and move at the same time. And don't throw things. They get lost that way." Without waiting to see her reaction, Rubido strode off towards the other end of Kensington.

The baby's gaze switched over to Easter. His eyes seemed to stare into the depths of her being. Slowly she scooted over next to the child and reached to pick him up. His weight was more than she had expected. How in the world was she going to manage to get him home? She lifted him higher and settled him on her hip. 'This would probably work better if I had hips...' His small hands grasped the fabric of her vest for stability.

She stood there a moment in thought. Should she say 'thank you'? For what though? An infant that she had no clue how she would care for? Easter looked down at his small face, still staring at her quietly. Her mouth twisted around in confusion as she turned and walked out the door.

One would expect to have heard a click of the door shutting, but there was none. Looking over her shoulder the building was gone but the familiar gravel was back. The treck back home was silent and slow. But soon Rosewall came into view and the sounds of the beasts floated around the two.

The noises were something she was used to by now, but how would the baby react to them? If it bothered him he made no movement to inform her. His eyes were on the bushes. Easter wondered if he knew what could be just beyond the hedges.

“I acted before the awakening, not much though, too young for the main parts. My master, Thom Raither was a staple back then. I’m his apprentice of sorts, he gave me the name Feyd Raither when he took me on.”

...Costumes and props stood in long rows, heavy drapes in the window, blocking out the sun, “To keep the colors from fading,” he explained. Walking over to a pile sheets he lay Elliot down, glancing at Adlei with a worried expression “Is he usually this cold?”

No, he is usually colder, Adlei thought to herself. As a child, she enjoyed the summer season, a time for festivals and carefree outdoor games. However, summer no longer brought such pleasures; and even worse, summer now served as torture for her Actor, who originated from lands the sun dared not touch.

"He...he'll be fine," Adlei said, though her voice was too anxious to convince anyone, especially herself. "Would you happen to have any water that's not in use? We can pay for it."

As owner of her own place in Wynander, yes it was shocking that a (sort of) young woman owned her own place in this city, it was her responsibility to make sure things ran as they were suppose to. That meant hiring people to work for her, not many though she wasn’t rich, and making sure they had things to sell, be it food, drinks or bodies. What they mainly specialized in at The Red Rat was selling fantasies and escapes from reality. It was the job of those who worked there to take the peoples minds off of their worries for a short amount of time, till they left and realized that they were bled dry of all their money. That’s the gamble you take when you enter the doors of this tavern, but it never seemed to deter people, so they must be doing something good there.

However that was not why Ayira was out on the streets that day, she was out to not only find new customers, but she was in the market for a few other things her girls needed. You cant have a proper show with rags on your girls, not that she was about to get them silk dotted with gems. She had purchased a few simple yet easily removable garments for the shows, and had them sent back with one of the younger girls that worked there, so things could get started while she was out. In the meantime she was going to troll a while for a man or two to bring back to the Rat. She could always use more costumers and more “friends.”

It was then, while she made her way through the area of Rosewall, her heels clicking slowly and seductively while she walked, that she discovered something completely new to her. In front of her, a few steps away was a young girl, very young, walking with a baby on her hip. There is no way that one so young would have a youngling of her own…is there Ayira thought to herself as she slowed her pace, so the girl did not think she was following her. Going through all the possibilities in her mind Ayira chewed on her bottom lip, something she had always done whenever she was in deep thought. Ayira never made it her business to get involved with others lives, usually, but there were times when the sparks of humanity in her took over, and there was something about this girl that lit that very fire.

Picking up her pace to draw closer to the young girl Ayira brushed the wrinkles out of her skirt and fixed her hair to make her appearance more pleasing. She usually did this when a man came into view, one she was hopping to entice, but she didn’t want to frighten this young one. Only a step behind the little thing now she cleared her throat and tapped her on the shoulder.“Its dangerous popet, to be out, and with a youngling no less.” She said in a sweet almost motherly tone of voice. As she said it though she felt like she was going to throw up from the disgusting sweetness of it all. “I mean…look popet I am not sure what your doing with the child but you seemed to be struggling. And against my nature…I wanted to offer you help.” She said, the last part in a whisper mumble sort of way, as if she was ashamed to say it. After she offered she looked around the street making sure no one saw that, it would do her reputation poorly to be seen being kind. Ayira waited for the girls response, not really sure of what else to do.

Feyd laughed, but softly for the sake of the sickly Elliot, "If I wanted payment I would have taken the brooch when I first let you in." Shaking his head he stood, brushing off his slacks. "I'll be back in a moment, wait here." Without another word he turned and slipped out of the room shutting the door behind him.

It didn't take long. The wooden door soon creaked open again and Feyd re-entered, a bucket in hand. He must have taken a slight detour though for he now wore a light tunic over his chest.

Setting the pail down beside Adlei he turned to rummage through a case of props. Coming up with a rather gaudy pair of goblets he offered them to the girl, assuming she was planning on drinking the water.

"We used them in the last production of The Pirate King."

Nekura nodded his head slowly, "I'm Nekura. It is a pleasure to meet you Grondax." He sat back and sniffed at the drink, taking a small sampling sip. He seemed to be figuring out the concoction by taste at first, before he took a drink. Obviously he deemed that whatever he could taste in it to be safe.

"Outside you ask?" Yami repeated and shortened the words of her sister, biting her lip as her mind repeated her words again and again. The thought annoyed her a bit, considering how the world is today, and the thought itself pushed her teeth farther into the skin of her toungue, if more thinking was involved, she would have pushed that limit until it penetrated, getting into her thoughts of her sister's being outside rather than paying any notice to the bitter corrosive taste of blood building in her mouth.

"Fine, outside it is" the girl came to her conclusion. "Just make sure you stick close" Nothing really could go wrong...as long as she did the talking as usual, and the words kept on flowing smooth, there shouldn't be much to worry about. "Fresh air would be nice" she added, as she turned yet another doorknob and said: "Lets go, shall we?"

He seemed to be figuring out the concoction by taste at first, before he took a drink. Obviously he deemed that whatever he could taste in it to be safe.

"Well then Nekura, you should know that helping people in this god forsaken city is taboo. That is unless you are helping Sehket. which judging from your appearance, you'd end up making your medicines from a jail cell. Of course there would be no soap, so you wouldn't have to worry overly much." Grondax mused as he joined in the drink, "The first thing you have to realize is that every basic necessity is hard to come by. Forget gems and money. Food, protection, and medicine are the must have items."

Grondax toyed with his hair, which was now lying over his shoulder, before looking seriously at Nekura. "If you want to help people then I can help you do it. Materials, shelter, and protection can all be taken care of. You'll have to ask for food in payment for your medicine. On my end all I ask for is a third cut of what you produce. So if you make 9 doses of medicine I would receive 3 in payment."

Grondax folded his hands together and awaited the mans response.

Nekura sat back and mused over what the man had proposed. "I never expected to be giving out free work, I may be out of place in the gates of hell however I do know how to find a proper, safe niche under anyone's attentions. As for the deal...It sounds tolerable however if I decide to end the deal it will be after I have used up whatever supplies, given you your cut and returned the unused supplies to your possession. He stated.

He tilted his head to look at the drink, "There appears to be enough violent people who would shank me for a scalpel...It would not pay for me to intentionally make enemies now would it?...Regardless...I see a long fortunate future for the both of us as far as this arrangement goes." He smiled at Grondax, for once, there was no purity in his smile. It was almost a warning that if he gets shafted, he will leave a scalpel or some sort of medical tool in a place that only another doctor could remove it, non-lethally.

After he had walked a small ways, Dr. Severin Oddssen switched the lumpy package to his other arm, careful to not let it open. His strength was not what it used to be, that was a definite fact of this famine, even if he did have a rather steady food supply. At one point in his life he had been a lithe and strong man, it was easy to intimidate others as he was generally taller than everyone around.

Now... Now his health had declined from various things, most of which was the takeover of that damned Dictator. His tall stature still remained, of course, but he slouched considerably and often looked several inches shorter than he really was.

With a thin-fingered hand, the result of much writing in his life, he ran a fingertip over a gash high on his cheekbone, surrounded by a purpling bruise. He may be weak, but someone he was strong enough to cause himself harm whenever he had a breakdown.

Caught up in his thoughts, the Doctor didn't notice that another man was walking through the graveyard until they had come rather close to one another. Shocking out of his musing, he gave the man a quick onceover and frowned, he didn't seem like much a threat. Smaller, kind looking, despite the fact he was picking up rocks.

Severin decided to try and go unnoticed, so he hunche dhis shoulders, lowered his hat so the bill of his hat cast a shadow over his face, and shuffled in a direction away from Larry.

Grondax could not help himself. He smirked and barely contained a laugh. "Don't worry my dear Nekura. If you are indeed a skilled doctor take solice in the fact that you are useful to someone. As long as you remain that way I will do my best to insure your safety."

Grondax finished his drink and signaled for Nekura to follow him up to the bar. "I assume you have received the shipment without any troubles George?" Grondax inquired of the stout man organizing things behind the dusty bar.

"Yes yes, everything is in order. In fact Hans and his crew are just finishing a nice hearty breakfast."

"Very good. When they come out tell Hans to get this man whatever accommodations he requires on my orders. Make sure he knows that Brock and Sam are to help as well. This man, Nekura, is now a very important customer. Have them report back to you with the information so I can visit him tonight."

Grondax turned his head back to Nekura and simply said, "You will be in good hands I assure you. They aren't the brightest, but they can follow orders. Don't feel obligated to engage in small talk with them. They still know what to do with juicy information"

"We're plenty bright," barked George putting his hands on his oversized belly, "just because you fancy yourself some sort of mastermind doesn't make us your lackeys. You just happen to be good for business."

"I'm glad I am useful," smiled Grondax wryly, "I would be in trouble if I wasn't. Nekura, I will visit you with a delivery of herbs tonight. Belladonna and wolfsbane shouldn't be too hard, and I will see what else I can find."

"Good day to you both."
With that Grondax bowed slightly and made his way out towards his room, if it could be called that. He would have to take notes of today’s events before heading to the merchants tables. This man would certainly be a large investment. He had better pay off, Grondax thought as he entered his damp shell of a room.

Her sandles spun her around quickly and stepped backwards away from the startling person. The small boy pulled himself closer to Easter as she instinctivly hugged him tighter. What did this woman want? She couldn't have the boy. He was her responsibility now, just like the card had been. But, at least the card hadn't been so obvious. "I'm doing just fine. I don't need any help."

-rrruuumble-

Curse her stomach. It wasn't near time to eat. But the added strain of the infant was draining her energy quickly. She hoped the woman would just go away and let her be in peace. But, unfortunatly now she couldn't go directly home. She always made sure her belongings were well hidden, but she didn't want people snooping amongst the shambles of the house anymore.

Mercy took that sign in the glass as a simple break from the mundaine that she had become a custom to. She shook her head with a sort of vigor that comes from not wanting to remember from their past. She laughed as her silliness and took a breath when she heard her stomach growl. Maybe she had been a bit hunger, when was the last time she had eaten? It didn't matter, she had slipped out of sight of the light and walked down the alley with the speed of one of the hunger orphans that she trained.
