So, italics. Some people may be interested by my excessive and often arbitrary use of this text style format. Indeed, they may feel prompted to ask of me, or perhaps even of themselves, that age old question, omgwtf?
Now please discuss.

Well the thing that I've allways noticed about italics is that when one formats their text in this manner, it looks as though the wind has come along and pushed some of the letters over. One must of course realise that this is in fact a very insightful insight. Yes.

I find that italics are very usefull when you want to emphasise a particular word in a sentance. Often you can completely recontextualize the meaning of your statement by purposefully emphasizing and drawing attention to a word that would otherwise not be read as the important part.

What makes italicizing any better than using boldface or underlining? I would answer that it is much more discrete. It does not pop out of the page at you upon your first glance, yet it still serves its purpose when you get to it. Truly, italics are simple, elegant, and beautiful.

Recontextualize is a nice word, but I've been using it alot more than usual lately and find that kind of odd. Upon reflection, I realize that I've been very context conscious in recent weeks. Perhaps this is a result of my situation, I am ungrounded and not even very sure of where I will be living a week from now.

Hrm confused I'm not sure how I feel about that haiku. Perhaps I'll wait a while and then take another stab at it. Then I can see which I like better, or perhaps take what I've learned from the experience of writing each and use that to write a third combining elements of both, better than either surprised

I think that I could have done italics more justice than I did (the conversation seems to be drifting away from the topic at this point) but I am new at this whole mule chat thing, and am satisfied with how it went. I am glad that italics was my first topic, it would not have been the same with any other topic and I would not have the experience any other way even if I could go back and do it all over. This is funny because it directly parallels what I said to the first girl I ever kissed when it was decided that things weren't going to work out between us, though that was significantly more significant to the history of my life and so there is no real parallel between the events. Laughing is supposed to be now, however I suspect that my funny is off it's game tonight. I will buy it flowers just in case there is some personal tradgedy at the root of its problems. Aw man, now I'm seriously concerned about something that doesn't even exist intangibly. liek omgwtf?
