"I see."
So, not everyone was here, that could be tolerated for now. But there memories, that was another matter. Unfortunately there were some gaps in the superior's memories as well, though they were very few. But for all that his knowldege, even he did not know why they were here. But such a thing did not matter, they were here, the key was here, and that was all that was needed to reach Kingdom Hearts.
"Nobodies, those who were never meant to exist, but yet we do. The empty shells of those who gave up their hearts, we only exist in this world of nothingness, cold and empty. That keyblade will lead us to kingdom hearts and there we will find our own hearts."

Kingdom Hearts? Saix remembered that now. That was going to give him his heart back, which he wanted more than anything. But he wouldn't show that emotion to anyone else. "Xemnas, sir, when can we return to gaining Kingdom Hearts?" Saix remembered questing for it, but not anything after that. "And...if that's not the keyblade we are after...where is the other?" Saix remembered something else. "Xemnas! I know where Marluxia is! I shall retrieve him for you!" Saix ran off as fast as he could to retrieve the pink-haired assassin.

It's ok, Demyx," mumbled Axel, trying to reassure his companion, but truth be told he was just as shocked as anyone by Xemnas' pronouncement of what they were. Axel tensed at the mention of Kingdom Hearts. That's right. They had been after that. And he wanted a heart, he really did, so he could protect the ones he cared about. That's the only reason he was here, afterall...
Half remmebered thoughts of feelings welled up inside him. He chocked back an unexpected gasp, and tried to look anywhere but at Roxas.
They...had been friends once. Best friends. That's why he seemed so familiar. Axel took a step closer to Roxas, trying to make himself feel better about this whole situation.
Axel's attention was diverted by Saix saying he'd go find Marluxia and bring him back. "Kiss-a**," he muttered under his breath, glaring at the other audio's retreating back.

"W-we aren't supposed to exist?" Demyx's mind reeled. What the heck was that supposed to mean? "I mean....h-how can you just tell someone they shouldn't be h-here?" The blonde remained latched to the red head, walking forward as he did so he wouldn't have to let go. Somehow he knew Xemnas was speaking the truth...but even so, how would anyone react to being told they were nothing more than the empty shell of what was once a person?
"Saix said we had no hearts...but still..." He sighed, rubbing a few tears away on Axel's coat sleeve. "That emptyness..it's just so WRONG. I hate it...I want it to go away..." For once his spastic ramblings were...kind of making sense? "But to do so...we need each other...we gotta stop all this stupid fighting...right boss? Everything will be alright..." Hopeful eyes turned to Xemnas, searching their boss' cold eyes for a bit of understanding.

His eyes narrowed. "So what if we dont have a heart? I know what I feel is real!" Yes, the anger and conflict and memories of something painful, it had to be real right? But try as he might, Roxas couldn't remember exactly what those memories were, just vague flashes. Something talking.. some kid... what was his name. "Sora.." he suddenly muttered. His eyes opened, wide, alarmed at the flood of memories that one name brought. "Sora. He's the real key... keyblade... keyblade..." and then the memory flitted away as fast as it had came. Whimpering slightly, unsure now, Roxas slowly edged towards Axel and found the other's free hand, squeezing it to try and find some reassurance in the one best friend he had- What?! There was not denying the empiness now. Something missing that he wanted to chase away, just as Demyx had said. But a part of him knew the way Xemnas wanted to fill this completeness was still fundamentally wrong. Perhaps it was what had caused all of this in the first place.

Xigbar's head dropped as Xemnas' words struck him. He knew all that the superior spoke was true, he had always know it, he had never forgotten. But unlike the cold Xemnas, Xigbar could not bring himself to speak of it.
But although he knew these things already, it was painful for him to hear it, to be reminded again of what he tried to push from his thoughts. The words cut through him, his body trembling with the silent tears that escaped his closed eye.
He had just wanted to escape, to not feel the pain that consumed him so. But giving up one's heart only left a cold emptiness that was far worse than any pain or sorrow and memories still remained. He wanted his heart back, desperately, more than anything he had ever wanted, he wanted that cold emptiness to be gone. It didn't matter what the consequences were, if kingdom hearts was the only way, then that was what they would do.
Shake from his thoughts, his head snapped at the mention of a name. Sora...Roxas...
"So...that was who it was..tch."

"Those who have no heart cannot feel, we can only remember. But when we reach kingdom hearts, we will all feel again and escape this world of nothingness."
His words were bold, grand, and inspiring, they were meant to be as such. If they were to reach kingdom hearts it would take all of them. And if a few fell along the way, then so be it. That of course did not mean he was looking to sacrifice his subordinates, he prefered they stay alive, but nothing would stop him from reaching kingdom hearts.
"We will begin our quest again, no matter how long it takes. Nothing is eternal, we have all the time we need."

Xemnas' words filled him with as close to an approximation of rage as he could feel. "If we...weren't supposed to exist...then why are we here, now?" He looked directly at Xemnas for the first time since he had come into the main chamber, eyes challenging him to give him a decent answer. None of this 'Nobodies' and 'Heartless' crap. Everybody has a purpose.
Axel put his arm around Demyx's shoulders, offering him shelter and comfort. He hated to see the blonde spaz cry, it was just too...heartbreaking. Or, he supposed, it would be, if he had a heart. He looked over at Roxas, starting slightly as the name Sora passed the child's lips. "That sounds familiar," he mumbled, but the thought was soon interrupted. The corner of his mouth twitched in a smile as Roxas grabbed his free hand. He squeezed back reassuringly. He would protect them both.
He almost thought, 'with memories like these, who needs a heart?' but he knew he'd only be trying to fool himself. Demyx is...Roxas was....even Sora....memories fading quickly was all that time ever was. He sighed, suddenly weary of it all. If they had to start over again...it might happen again. What was it Saix had said? To keep from repeating the mistakes of the past, they should all try to remember everything that had hapenned? 'Maybe' Axel thought grudgingly, hating to admit it even to himself. 'Maybe Saix was right afterall.' He clung to Roxas and Demyx as much as theyclung to him, finding comfort in the physical even as he despaired at the emptyness where that emotion should have been. A faintly remembered sweet thing that flitted away all too quickly.
Axel tried to decide if Xemnas' last comment meant that nothing can last forever, or that nothing ever lasts forever, then gave up. Either way, it wasn't an appetizing prospect. OIn one hand, if they did not succeed, they were all doomed. On the other hand...What hapends after? When they aren't 'nothing' anymore...when they can feel again, and know what's in their Hearts...would they still think the same? Remembering things like this...would they still...
abandoning those painful thoughts, Axel sniffed and replaced his usual smirk on his face. The anger that had filled his eyes at being called 'nothing' was replaced by a blank, long-practiced facade of friendlyness. "Well then, Boss, when do we start?"

Saix stomped around thrashing about screaming for Marluxia. "PINKY GET YOUR a** OUT HERE! OUR LEADER HAS RETURNED!" Saix sounded excited more than mad. "HURRY! HE HAS SUMMONED US ALL! QUICKLY LET US GO!" Sliding to a hault he spotted the pink-haired sythe wielder infront of him...damn either Saix was a lot taller than most of the other Organization Members or they were all just...really small. Saix looked down on him. "What are you waiting for? Didn't you hear me calling? Lets go. I will lead you to Xemnas."

Sora...Sora...Sora....why did that name sound so familiar? Demyx fidgeted nervously. That name...something bad happened relating to that name. But just what was it? Roxas was okay...it wasn't him. But that key...and this Sora....sigh.... As Roxas moved closer to Axel, Demyx forced a smile for him. The kid was alright, and was just as scared as he was. But together the three of them would be fine through this whole thing.
...Wouldn't they?....
Glancing to where Xigbar stood, Demyx was surprised to see the older Audio looking rather...well...depressed. The usual confidence was replaced with utter sorrow, head hanging in defeat. What was going on in his head to cause him to act like this? Whatever it was, Demyx didn't like it. As usual, he hated seeing anyone in pain, and Xigbar...despite earlier situations...could be quite a nice guy. The blonde made a note to himself to cheer up Xigbar later, perhaps the two could share some cookies? Those always seemed to cheer up Demyx, so they should work for others too!
Gaze snapping back to Xemnas, Demyx listened intently to his words. So...the boss wanted to lead them to this Kingdom Hearts, whatever that was, so they could get their hearts back and be normal? Well that sounded good...but what would happen if they succeeded? Despite not liking the emptiness inside, Demyx certainly didn't want to forget any of the other members. As disfunctional as they were, they were the closest things, besides Bax, he had ever had to a family. As scary, depressing, and just downright unfun as they could be at times, Demyx would miss them if they were gone, especially Axel and Xigbar.
As the arm was wrapped around his shoulders, Demyx snuggled closer into Axel's robes. As childish as it was, it made Demyx feel safe, and right now that's what he wanted the most. So until he felt safe on his own, or Axel told him to let go, he would remain latched to the red head's coat.
Strange...
They didn't have hearts, they didn't have feelings...or so Xemnas said. But to Demyx the feelings were very real. Were his memories of feelings simply stronger? Or....what? Who knew... the whole thing was making his head hurt. As soon as this whole serious situation was over he was so going to drag Xigbar off for some cookies, then maybe go make some more crayon doodles.

'Heh... so our Superior has returned.' Marluxia thought. He could hear the commotion all too well, afterall with Xemnas's return of course their would be a lot of noise made.
Then again he didnt hear much, mostly it was faint mumblings... but the voices where descreet.
Marluxia sat on the steps close to the room, his scythe wasnt out at the moment. Perched next to him was his little familiar, whom he had grown used to now. THe little cat like creature turned its head and made a 'chu' noise, peering at its master.
Marluxia had been sitting down for a while, his charred tail was now begining to heal again. WHile sitting he was thinking about the many gaps in his memory... a word poped into his mind that the pink haired one couldnt seem to erase. This word was... "Castle..."
Placing a paw on its head marluxia scratched behind No Names ears for a second. This was short lived though, the screaming of the long-winded Claymore-owning male was soon heard rining in his ears. Instinctly he stuck out his arm and summoned his scythe to him.
"I hear you i hear you." Using the pink weapon as a pole he hoisted himself off the ground. When he stood the scythe disapeared again, himself not wanting to carry it around.
Jumping onto Marluxia's shoulder no name Churred and gave Saix a wary eye.
"Lead on."

"But why us?" Roxas couldn't help the retort, the warmth from Axel's hand for some reason strengthening his resolve. "And why the keyblade, what IS Kingdom Hearts?" He paused, eyes looking down, suddenly so scared and tired of it all. "Why cant we feel right now?" The others' compliance, the willingness to follow the boss, it still felt wrong. All Roxas wanted was to find things out himself, to have his own free will. It felt like something was squeezing his chest tightly as Axel asked the boss what to do next; even with the warmth of the other's hand, everything suddenly seemed so lonely and wrong. Even Demyx's general cheeriness seemed forced. Roxas sighed; there were so many questions, and the strange images that fleeted through his mind: islands, battles, Axel fading away (wait? fading away, wasn't he right here?) lead to the conclusion that they were about to repeat a mistake they had committed and obviously paid for. Perhaps their memories were gone or disjointed for a reason. Yet there were others, maybe those who were missing would voice an opinion he no longer was sure of.

Nothing was eternal... Even so, Xigbar didn't exactly want to spend enternity as the nothing he was now. He'd rather die now than live this way forever, as an empty shell.
His hand went to his chest, clutching at what was no longer there, desperately clinging to what was left of his humanity.
Kingdom hearts... Those two words played over in his mind again and again. He too wondered what would become of them when their hearts were returned, but unlike the others he was willing to dismiss those thoughts. Whatever it was it had to be better than this.
Living as nothing was a difficult burden, it had aged him far beyond his years, his hair growing gray long before it should have. He just wanted it to be over, to live again, to feel again. Even death would have been better than this. At least in death the nitemares and the memories would no longer haunt him.

"It is a door, the door that will lead us from this world of nothingness."
For all his knowledge, even Xemnas could not say for certain what was beyond the door to kingdom hearts. He only knew it was connected to the hearts of the worlds, perhaps it contained the heart of all creation. Surely it was there that all fallen hearts gathered, and once they reached it it must betwow on them their own lost hearts.
Xemnas looked over the group, cold yellow eyes taking in their reactions. So many questions, questions that he knew he had answered before, that he had even written down. All the things that they had forgotten were written in those reports, perhaps it was time to find them.
"The reports, we must find them. We will find the answers we seek there."

Axel frowned. Reports? Could he mean....that paper Xigbar had found? From what he had seen of it before Xigbar snatched it away from him, it had been a kind of..report..thing. He almost opened his mouth to say something, too, but he glanced at Xigbar first and saw the confusion of thoughts in his features, the way he touched his chest, where his heart should have been. Axel averted his eyes and firmly closed his mouth.
Besides, he thought, if I do tell Xemnas about the report, then the chances of me getting to read it are pretty slim. If Xigbar wanted the boss to have the report, he'd give it to him in due time.
so instead, he only changed to a quizzical expression, tilted his head, and remarked: "Reports, Boss?"
