You know... There is always a single person in your band class that always tries to make everyone else feel like crap... You know, the guy that tells you you're crap, that you play like crap and you're just the worst person in band. Yet, that person can't read note values, doesn't know how to finger the notes, and can't read music all together. stressed

yeah i always wonder why band teachers still accepts those kind of poeple who dont seem to put any effort into their music...

Yes.. oh my god. Yes. We have one of those people in our band.
I HATE THAT KID SO MUCH..
He's the only tuba player, because no one wants to deal with his crying. He always tries to blame his mistakes on the trombones, and can't play worth s**t. He tries to act like a drummer, and he is NOT a drummer. He said that he was going to join the drumline, and we made sure that there were no spots left.
It's not even just in band, either. He's a flaming little annoyance, and won't stay the hell out of other people's business. I swear. I'll be sitting there, talking to one of my friends, about something COMPLETELY not concerning him, and he'll just be sitting there, ease-dropping, then has the nerve to come into the discussion. I seriously hope he shoves that tuba up his a** someday. God. I hate him.

We don't have anyone much like that, but we do have an alto sax that seems to think he's an officer and yells at everybody. Finally one of our officers shut him up. It was awesome!

I have people like that gonk

the first and second chair clarinetist (i'm third chair in my band) they play one octave higher (or even two) for no reason when we play! they think they are good when they lack musicality and can't seem to play notes at the correct octave (probably to be noticed) and once when the first chair flute, annie asked them if anything was wrong with their section the first chair said no, when there was (I'm section leader though...unfortunately not much people actually know i'm section leader, only a small group of the clarinetist...but i'm there one and only section leader and yet they don't know gonk ) for one thing, the first and second chair clarinetist were going too fast on one part just to show off, they didn't ritard or anything! just wanted to show off, and twice they said to annie (she conducts when mr. a isn't here most of the time) "Can we play faster!?" it really ruins the song, they are idiots, they don't deserve to sit as first and second chair! gonk

yesterday i asked them, "why are you playing one octave higher? you have to play as written" and the second chair clarinetist merely said, "well, its still the same note! it doesn't matter" even though i gave reasons how it could ruin the band, he laughed and said it's the same note so nothign changes---it DOES. they think they know everything, but they don't. I was so angry that a first chair and second chair would act like that, you'd usually see that in a normal seventh grade band, but in our band that is NEVER suppose to happen, we have higher standards to meet and they don't want to

then there is a sub that someitmes conducts, she's always a string orch conductor-ms. hua. god! I hate her, she thinks she knows everything, like once she told a mallet player (whose really good) that she was going to fast, but the mallet player wasn't and then she tried to play and she kept messing up! then once she told me i was rushing which was the funniest thing because she was going too slow, the tempo was suppose to be 152 and she made us play at like 60! she's so stupid...I HATE HER

gonk sorry

Hmm... I doubt it. Well, maybe a few years ago. Yeppers. There are always people who think that like that and likes to show off. But strangely, everytime someone new does that (once or twice every year) in band, thinking that they're a kick-a** in drums, I tend to kick their a**. o.O It's weird. First year was some (I don't want to be racist, and I'm not) 'colored' kid who has this bad attitude and he thinks he can play drums. To be honest, I admit that he has skills, but I just had to butt-in to show him to shut up and change his attitude. Second year was some jamaican dude. Well, I didn't have much problems with him because he was cool and all. Third year, a Brazilian guy. Well, this guy... [laughs] I found him quite funny. I didn't even try >_> Though I do feel sorry...

We actually do have someone like that, but we love him nonetheless.
He's a senior saxaphone player & doesn't really concentrate on make fun of the peoples' playing but he makes fun of other things, like some peoples names, peoples shortness (he's 6'4), and he tends to make very witty, some-what mean, humorous comments.

Ours plays Euphonium.

He drops his horn on the floor on purpose, and won't shut up.
His buddy, our Tuba player, is the exact same way. He hits his mouthpiece while it's on the horn so it'll make noise. One day he got it stuck. stare

i act like that sometimes.......the directors call me all-star and when i get used to attention i kinda get conceited for a short while and begin telling ppl off.............................then i begin to feel bad for them and then i lose friends.....but everyone tells me that i am the best there, but that doesnt give me the right to tell ppl off.

Yep. We have one o' those. He's a trumpet and he's constantly critisizing people on how they play...mostly other trumpets but sometimes he strays. Most of the time he's messing up on music that's simple... or he's just plain stupid. I don't get him. Oh well, he's a senior this year and I won't have to put up with him my last two years in HS.
