Koda sighed, "Li. Stop it. D.L. just needs to learn to control herself more. She doesn't need to go away forever. Come on." he said as he began to leave. He looked at Cheveyo, "I'm sorry for keeping you from your duties. Please forgive me. I'll just take Li home. She's just...just not ready." he finally said. He walked out into the snow.
Cheveyo nodded, "Safe traveling Koda." he said.
"Li will be ok mom. Trust me. She will." Arizona nuzzled her mother.

Li seemed not to hear her father. "DL?" she whispered. Nothing. "DL? DL where are you?" she whispered again, waiting for DL's annoyed retort. But nothing came. "D.L...I'm sorry...don't leave...please..." tears brimmed. But still no reply came...she knew DL could be gone...it wasn't possible...or was it...Her eyes fixed on the ground as she continued to despratly call for DL.
Nor sighed. "I know...I know..." and she did...but...she felt such a need to protect the now full grown mare form the world that even if she knew, she couldn't accept. "Its just..." She sighed. "please Arizona, understand...your stronger then Li...much stronger..."

"Li. Come. Your going back to your mother." he nudged Li forward.
She looked into her mother's eyes, "If I take out my hearing aids..I'm just as helpless." she muttered and looked down at the snow.

Li's eyes widdened. "No! Daddy please no! I can't go back...Arizona....i don't want her to hate momy because of me...please.." she looked pleadingly her father.
Nor shook her head. "No your not. you may think you are...but your not. I have always, since the day you, HUnter, and Li were born, known somthing was diffrent about Li...always...its why i have always protected her so much...But you...until i found out i have no idea...you were the perfect little girl...your still my perfect little girl...Li...She still needs protection...she needs somone to be there for her...and do you want to know somthing? Her entire life, her biggest dream...is to be like you and to have you accept her...you and me...we're the most importent horses in her eyes."

Koda looked back at Li, "Li come now. Arizona isn't mad at you. Lets go. Before the snow gets too heavy. I'm sure your mother would like to see you for abit anyhow."
"But I'm not perfect. And how can I be so important to Li when she never sees me or she's too busy hiding behind you and dad, whining and dramatising." Arizona rolled her eyes and turned away from her mother. She began to walk toward the stalls, "I'm going to sleep for the night." she muttered. Even when Li wasn't here it was still about her. She snorted as she entered the barn and trotted into her stable.

Li's head dropped and she followed her father.
Nor sighed. "Arizona. your the one acting like a drama queen right now. I bet i know what your thinking and your incorrect. I'm not talking about Li because its about her, i'm talking about her and its about you. I want you to understand that even if she barely saw you, she looked up to you. And Arizona, she knows her diffrence is less sever then yours. When she comes i want you and her to talk. No more cheilding from me, you need to tell her how you feel."

Koda nuzzled the mare and trotted off. Soon Nor was in sight. He trotted up toward her.
"No." Arizona replied flatly. She walked into her stall and took out her hearing aids. She quietly laid them on the stall floor and slipped out the back enterance to the barn. She trotted away from the barn, keeping a steady pace. Soon out of sight of it, by instead of stopping she kept going. Arizona slide gracefully over the frozen creek the bound into the snow. She was right. All she needed was her brother. She didn't even want her father to come for her now. She kept up her pac, soon well out of the boundries of the ranch and herd grounds. No one could save her. She was going to prove everyone wrong. She could survive on her own. No one was going to help her now. She looked back once more at the Distant ranch and herd grounds. Arizona turned and galloped off, letting them fade away. She knew if she wanted to see Hunter, she knew where he was at. But she wouldn't come back for a while. She kept going and she too was soon out of sight, fading into the sunset.

Nor smileda bit at Koda and sighed. "problem fixed...and then unfixed." she said. THe smiled faded and she looked a bit worriedly at Li. "Li honey, whats wrong?" she asked, noteing Li's sad expression.
"I...Its nothing mommy...I'm ok." she smiled lightly to reassure her. "If...If its ok with you and daddy...I wanna go and try to live alone...i won't leave the herd grounds...but...i just don't want to be the cause of fighting anymore...."
Nor's first instinct was to say no, but then she nodded. "Ok...ok...but first you need to talk with your sister...." Nor said, not knowing Arizona had fled.[/]
Li nodded and walked into the barn before reamergging. "Um...She...She's not in here Mommy...her hearing aids are on the floor of a stall and its empty..."

Koda shook his head lightly. He had a feeling Arizona was gone. Now this was the bitter truth. He looked at nor, "Don't go looking for her." he said lightly as he walked away from the family. He sighed. He'd failed as a father to not only one child but all three. There was nothing he could do. It seemed as if the family was just falling apart now. Arizona wouls return when she pleased, and who knew what would happen with Li. Hunter was long gone. He'd probably already forgotten about the family. Koda sighed once more and walked away, shaking his head lightly. For the first time in his life, the stallion had given up... on everything.

Nor's ears went back sadly."Koda..." She walked after him and lightly nuzzled him. "We tried....mabye we were just not ment to be parents...we really did try..."
Li watched her parents sadly. DL was gone, Hunter was gone, Arizona was gone. "Wait. Mom...Dad....I won't leave...." she took a deep breath. "Just because Arizona and Hunter are blind to everything you have done and tried to do for us...doesn't mean i am. I know i'm not perfect...and that i've caused so much problems...but i won't abandon you like they did." Somthing tugged in the back of her mind. She smiled, a true smile, suddenly feeling the presence of DL. "And i won't abandoned you either." She said, smiling also. "you two are the best parents anyone could ever ask for." DL said. "And we can both agree on that." Li added.

Tears had formed in the stallion's eyes. He rested his head against Nor's. "I'm so sorry for everything Nor. For being a bad mate and Father. You both deserve better than me. Much better." He listened to Li . He had one child but it still couldn't take away the pain of losing the other two. He dropped his head and let his ears droop.
Slowly he fell into the snow, letting his legs fold up under him. Tears slide down his face like a waterfall. So much pain had been brought because of him. None of this would have happened if he hadn't taken Nor to the mountains. Everything would be how it should. Nor deserved a better stallion, like outlaw or someone. Koda had failed the family and nothing could fix it now. What was left for him to do? Cause more pain. Maybe he should just leave. Maybe everything would go back to normal then.
KOda's throat went dry. He didn't attempt to move. He was deep in thought. Soon he rose to his feet. He had to protect Nor and Li till Li could fend for herself. Then He'd stop hurting Nor. He couldn't take seeing the family fall apart and his mate upset. He wasn't good enough for her and she was better than him so she deserved better. "I can't keep hurting you like this Nor." he said lightly, his head hung.

Nor shook her head. "Koda...your not hurting me. None of this is your fault...If anything i'm gettign what i deserve. I made lives miserable for others, so now i have to be miserable for a time." she nuzzled him. "everything will get better...it has to." she said softly. "I love you, you could never hurt me unless you left me." her eyes widdened slightly. "please tell me your not thinking about leaving me..."
Li and DL watched them. "Mom, Dad, we're gonna be in the barn so you two can talk." she said, turning and entering the barn after Nor nodded to her.

Koda looked away, "I was. Only because all I've done is hurt this family and most of all I've hurt you Nor. I can't live with myself knowing I brought you pain." he shook his head, "I broke my promise to Spirit and Racer. I ended up hurting you. I don't want to hurt you anymore Nor. I love you far to much to do that. You deserve better than hat I've given you. I was just a waste of time." Koda felt ashamed. He couldn't bring hmself to look at Nor. He just couldn't. The pain was too great. What was left to do now? Without her he couldn't live. But with her he caused pain. But he would do whatever it took to make it better for her. He loved her more than life itself and would gladly give his life for her's anyday. "I'm so sorry Nor." Koda whispered.

Nor was floored. she had hoped with all her heart he would laugh and tell her of course not, that he would never leave her...but this..."Koda don't. I know oyu love me...i always have and i always will, just like i have always loved you." She nuzzled him before wraping her neck around his in a hug like gesture. "don't leave me Koda. I need you. without you i...i don't know what to do. I've given up so much because i love you. and never once have i truly regreted it. Don't make me start now. We can always have moer kids, try again at raiseing a family right. Koda..." she held back tears.

Koda nuzzled her and ulled her close, "I love you too Nor. So very much. I won't leave." He looked into her eyesa and kept her close, "We'll try again." he whispered, still holding Nor as if if he let go of her he'd fall into a pit of flames. Koda nuzzled her again, gently, as a reassuring nuzzle.
