"No. We have not been out since after the war. Our goddess deemed it neccessary. Said when the time is right, that we must help bring what is lost back. Shh, go back to sleep my little one. I'll wake you later then."
Seems the child was more tired then she let on.
"No..I only have this map as my guide."
Looks to the woman by the window.
"My people are dying. . .I must find a doctor. And the only place seems to be in Lyr. I will go there no matter what the cost. Even if I have to 'Jump'. . I'll just ask around for someone to give me a clear discription of the place. The sooner I get there, the better. I don't think. I like the idea of a box floating over water as a mode of transportation."

((I still don't like riding a boat unless it's really near land and I can swim to it without taking so long. XD XD))

"We might be in agreement over something then." Was Eithne's short reply. "I heard that naught two weeks ago a Lyran ship exploded in one of the harbors nearbye. They've been trying to ressurect the same machines which started the war years ago, so it serves them right I gue-" Eithne was suddenly cut off as a pillow was flung at her, the Runist blinking as she caught the item before it actually hit her.

Jamie went from laying down to actually standing on the bedding, her face scrunched up as if in anger. "You're Lyran, aren't you then, Child?" Eithne's question had Jamie seated back down on the bedding in a flash, arms crossed and an upset look on her face. She was still half asleep, her mind clouded, but she'd started hearing them talk about ships. Ships weren't boxes on water, and machines didn't start wars, people did.

Celestra blinked as the whizzing pillow went by.
"Shh. Your still half awake."
Pulling her to her lap.
"What has gotten you so upset little one?"
She looked down at her, so she was a Lyran? Seems everyone has changed quite a lot from their books.
"I wonder . . . are you a survivor from that ship she talked about little one?"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 18, 2006 10:07 pm

"I know nothing more about the ship save that it lit up the night sky in a burst of mana and light, and the sound rippled across the entire island." Eithne mentioned, sounding as if she were quoting whoever had actually said it. Which was likly.

Jamie scrunched up her face again only by less, pushing herself out of Celestia's grasp and hopping down to the floor. She didn't look at either of the women, and simply walked towards the far corner of the room to sit down, facing the wall and bringing her knees up to her face. Her ribbon had fallen out while she'd been sleeping and lay on the matress where the pillow had been before she'd flung it. The name 'Jamie' was scrawled on the back with a white thread, and was clearly visable to anyone who were to pick it up and read.

"I'd take that reaction as a yes." Eithne replied to Jamie's stalking off, frowning slightly as the child put herself in the corner, and by how she hadn't uttered a word... "Is she a mute?" Blunt, direct, and rather unlike her, Eithne looked squarly at the other woman as she asked.

Celestra shook her head.
"Shocked, they were trying to sell her off so I took her."
Going to the little girl and picking her up. Hugging her.
"I am sorry little one. I did not mean to hurt your feelings. I mean. Jamie. Hmm, I will miss calling you little one."
Pulls her back to her knees cupping her cheeks to look at her.
"Dear one, I meant what I said earlier. I will take you to Lyr with me now. And help you find your mother. So please. Don't push me. I want to help. Okay. You can trust me. I have no reasons to lie to you."
Tying her hair back.
"We have a picture. And I know your name. I will make sure you get back to your family. I swear it to my goddess."
Looks to her with her soft glowing eyes.
"Truce?"

"There were supposed to have been a lot of survivors though..." Eithne murmured, more to herself than to the pair as she folded her arms and leaned back against the window sill for a moment, considering the child's predicament. Survivors, but no one had thought to take in the child?

"Hair like that anywhere south of Lyr would fetch a good price... And since she's so young... That was probably why they were selling her, they could have gotten a large sum out of her." Although her face was hidden, it quickly became apparent that Eithne was frowning behind her scarfs.

Jamie looked sullenly up at Celestia as her face was cupped by the woman's hands, eyes almost blank like they had been in the cart earlier that same day. Giving a slight nod, she turned slightly to finally look at the woman at the mirror. She frowned at first, then brought both hands up; one covered her mouth and noes, the other went over her forehead, creating a small space between her hands to see her eyes which held a question. Her hands covered the same general area as Eithne's scarfs. Wasn't it hot to wear that black around her head in this weather?

Celestra chuckled.
"It's something most Runist wear little one. Oh..Jamie."

Iroka walked quickly, her light blue tunic pulled high over her knees to allow for swift movement. She scanned the quiet street with her grey eyes, pulling her black hair out of her face. Not many people about, she thought to herself, still moving fast, Good, I need to get in and out of here before anyone figures out I don't belong... She pulled a hood over her head, attempting to cover her long locks, and turned a corner quickly. Bad idea. She ran directly into a young man, dressed in a loose robe and sandals, who had the same calculating grey eyes she did. "Excuse me," she said quickly, attempting to slide past him, "You'll have to forgive me..."
((FYI: She just bumped into Mekky's character, just in case you couldn't figure that out! xd ))

"Hah, I have to, do I?" he said, with a little more aggression in his voice than he realized- after all, he had meant that just to be a spiteful comment to the world in general, not to her. He looked at her directly in the face for a moment, holding an expression between a glare and a blank stare. Ah, another grey-eyed one. Strange, he had been running into more and more rarities these days- the runists, one with grey eyes, and now another one.

Again, superstitions rose to mind, but he pushed them aside, like what he sorely wished to do to Iroka. But that would've been a bad idea. Attracting attention in the middle of a street, no matter how dark it was, didn't matter. "Just watch your step," he said gruffly. The spark of light illuminated his right side as it orbitted around him.

"Mm, I'm going to have to get used to calling you by your name. . ."
Blinks..if she's a Lyrian, then.
"Jamie, luv. Can you still picture vividly your homeland? Famous landmarks? Anything about your home?"
Then she could jump. There will be no need for a boat. The sooner she gets help, the higher the chance of her people surviving.

Eithne merely blinked at the pair, having been smiling at the child's question about her scarfs, but tilting her head to the side as the pale woman asked about the girl's home.

Jamie nodded at the explanation Celestra gave her, but continued to look at Eithne curiously until the woman asked her something. Blinking a bit in surprise and a bit of confusion, she looked off for a moment or two as if to picture someplace like what Celestra wanted. Living in a port city right under the shadow of an Old City, Jamie could remember the outline of the dusty skyscrapers and haunted old building which people said spoke to one another at night with no one around. The Old City had scared her, but there wouldn't be any point in going their anyways...

'Christopher and I will be going into Dashna while you and your Father are away. Your Father will be bringing you back to Dashna too when you come back. I trust you remember it.'
Firm, unruffled words, her mother having spoken to her before their goodbyes from the Port city. Her mother would be in Dashna, not home in the Port.

Closing her eyes tightly as she tried to remember the city she'd seen so few times, the only thing Jamie could think of was the strange place called "The Platform". It was a raised metal and stone building linned with Mana veins to carry mana along "tracks" which had sat in the sky up on big bridges before the war. It was the only place Jamie could remember. Opening her eyes again and looking at Celestra, the blonde girl finally nodded in reply.

Celestra smiled to the child.
"Good girl. Do you want to go home, now? As in right now? We can 'jump' there."
Sitting the child in an upright position on the floor.
"We can be there in a blink of an eye little one. It will be a bit uncomfortable to the new ones. But since you lack the capability to use mana, it will be less of a comfort for you."
Chuckling at the confused state of the child. She explained the best she can.
"'Jumping' is a very ancient technique lost to time. It's a way of instant transportation from one place to another place far away. Only a select few are allowed to do such a thing. As the goddess proclaimed it very and tiring process. But since I am in a hurry, I don't think she would mind a little shortcut on my behalf. Now little one. Go pack the things you had with you. I must find a suitable place to perform the 'jump'."
Letting the child go her way, she pads to the window. But looks to the woman first.
"I do not know what you want of me, or if you are trying to stop me or not. But I must, and I will to Lyr."
Looking to the window.
"I already know I might have a harder struggle asking the outsiders to come to an 'old' race and save their lives. But surely there are others that wouldn't want to see an entire populace die out and have that a burden on them."
Sighing out.
"I will have to trust in the human compassion."
Closing her eyes, using her minds eye to locate the nearest ley lines of the mana. Where they cross and meet. It would be easier to 'jump' at the crossroads of mana then without it. For it will take quite a strain on her with barely at all. Though it is possible, but it wasn't something she would risk off hand unless truely necessasary.

(( And with that I sign off till Sunday! Going on a lil trip! Ciao ))

Retrieving the box from where she'd left it on the floor, and then her ribbon from the bedding along with her shoes, Jamie was confused by Celestra's words, no one could jump across an ocean.

Eithne didn't feel the same way as the child, curious yes, but merely shaking her head at the other Runist's words. Pushing back from where she had been leaning against the sill, she dropped her arms and tilted her head to the side slightly as she spoke.

"I will not hinder you, and I will not kill you, although I can see nothing wrong with either, I won't be shamed with Rouge blood on my hands, least of all in front of a child." Closing her eyes there was a bit of finality in her voice. "You should probably go to the Geosn Temple further into the city if you want to perform more complex spells though, it would be easier to recharge your body while casting if anything. We don't need something going wrong, now do we?" Yes, there was indeed finality in her tone, which included the 'we' instead of 'you'.

Celestra blinked, did she just say 'we' instead of 'you'.
Looking to the grey eye woman, her eyes large and glowing.
"You are coming?"
The temple? Ah yes, she was there yesterday. There was indeed a steady flow of mana there. A crossroad must be nearby. She will head there with the child of course, but, this woman?
She was silent for awhile as she assessed her current problem. Sighing out as she could only think of one conclusion.
"Keeping an eye on me?"
Turning around to see the child ready she smiled.
"Do as you will. Shall we go now little one. I need to go to the temples. There should be a ley line of mana there that I require to do this."
Taking her hands out to hold the little girl. She had promised herself that the child would come to no harm. She wasn't that cold or cruel, even if her eyes says otherwise to others.

The time of great change was coming, and her goddess will see to it that she will be saved. At least long enough to do whatever task her goddess has in store for her avatar to her people, and to the lost that had forgotten her. Their Star-Eyed Goddess who dwells on the moon as her sanctuary.
