My most recent experience with critical analysis and critical thinking was this week while doing coursework for Developmental Psychology class where I am learning about the human lifespan and all that entails, such as the environment in which we are raised, the influences of our peers, family, how culture and tradition play a role on how we live our lives, how we react, the choices we make and trying to interpret the research of all the theories that are presented throughout the lifespan. It's very eye-opening and intriguing.

I’m not sure what my comfort level is concerning writing essays about literature as I feel like a fish out of water finding my way back to the ocean but I am excited to strengthen my writing skills while taking this course.

I am currently reading a novel called Shallow Waters by Anita Kopacz. This is a fictional novel about the Yoruba deity Yemaya or Yemonja. Yemaya is believed to be a powerful orisha who is said to have followed the slave trade through the transatlantic and said to mother all the enslaved people who were thrown and jumped overboard.

My favorite creative text is poetry, particularly by Langston Hughes.

What is your most recent experience with critical analysis and critical thinking?
My most recent experience with critical thinking was during my Computer Science l course. During my course, I had the opportunity to learn the programming language called Python. Python requires significant problem-solving skills and algorithm design. You need to critically think when designing algorithms because as a computer scientist, I break down complex problems to identify key components, also known as debugging. Once I find the issues, I create a step-by-step algorithm or solution to fix and solve the problem.

This is an intensive writing course. What is your comfort level with writing essays about literature?
I am very comfortable in writing essays about literature. During college writing l, I had to write a few essays about short stories and I enjoy writing and answering key questions.

What are you currently reading?
I am not currently reading any books or short stories but I look forward to reading all the texts in this course!

What is your favorite creative text -- such as a novel, memoir, poetry collection...?
My favorite creative texts are short stories. Short stories are unique and have a powerful form of creative writing. I find short stories quick and engaging because as readers we are provided with a complete narrative experience in a short amount of time. These are great for people who don't want to read a full novel but still want to enjoy a rich story.

1. What is your most recent experience with critical analysis and critical thinking?
- My most recent experience with critical analysis was during my ENG 1205.019 class, where I worked on a Drama Analysis Essay. I compared plays like *Electra* by Euripides, *Electra* by Sophocles, and *Tomoe* from Noh theatre. Analyzing the literary aesthetics and themes of these plays pushed me to deeply examine how different cultural contexts influence storytelling. This experience has enhanced my ability to critically analyze texts and construct thoughtful arguments, which I look forward to applying in this course.
