Ryan would spot the Goldeen first and point it out to James. This was going to be a tough one as well with the Water vs. Water typing. Not that would stop James from opening up with a Water Pulse. The Goldeen would spin around and retaliate with a Water Pulse of its own.
James wouldn't back down and would fire off yet another Water Pulse, trying to wear the Goldeen down as fast he could. The Goldeen would answer back once more with Water Pulse as well.
It was with James' third Water Pulse that his ability would kick in and he would score a critical along with securing the battle.
Lillie would step in and have her Clefairy heal James up.

Another round of bad news Grappler. Ryan sighs and shakes his head, but he had to trust in James, Himself, and Lillie to get through this. James would get off his opening Water Pulse, but this time, his opponent would pin him with Octolock immediately.
James would fire back with Water Pulse again, only to get clobbered with a point-blank Submission slam, which even caused his aggressor to take extra damage.
This allowed the third Water Pulse to down the Oct, even without it being a crit.
Lillie and Clefariy would be over to James almost immediately to heal him.

This was an excellent rebound fight from such a brutal one just the fight before. Once again, Ryan was pretty sure that the poor Growlithe never knew what hit it as the Water Pulse would come in blindside and knock it out. Lillie was a little less anxious this time, just glad things were a tiny bit easier for James.

Ryan and James were walking along, unaware of the ambush they were about to walk into from a Nickit. Until it went horribly wrong for the tiny thief fox, as it took one last step forward before attacking, it stepped on a twig on the ground, the snapping sound drawing the eyes of its former victims now squarely fixed on it. James would light up as he dashed forward, triggering a Sniper U-Turn that would send the poor fox blasting off again.
"That was just bad luck," Lillie says.
"For him," Ryan says with a shrug.

((RC, are you trying to make a friendly competition out of this? Lol))
Brian gave a slight sigh as yet another Stufful popped up, though he didn't have to speak before Lu shot forward with a Quick Attack. This Stufful was a bit hardier than the previous one, however, as it barely flinched when the attack hit. "Low Kick," Brian ordered, but the Stufful used Baby-Doll Eyes to lower Lu's attack right before the Low Kick hit. It still did a lot of damage, but not as much as it could have without the stat change. Another Baby-Doll Eyes was used, and right after Lu used Vacuum Wave, effectively knocking out the Stufful thanks to the super-effectiveness of the move.

'Good grief, how many of these things are we going to have to battle?" Brian asked, as another Nickit jumped at Lu. "Screech, then Vacuum Wave," he said. Lu jumped to obey, letting out a screech, followed by a Vacuum Wave. Surprisingly, the Nickit got back up, seemingly having taken only a little damage. "Hmm, interesting," Brian said. "This Nickit seems to like battling." Just as he said that, the Nickit used Hone Claws, followed by Snarl. The Snarl didn't do all that much damage to Lu, despite the boost in the Nickit's attack, thanks to the typing, but it still hurt. Lu growled angrily at the pain, then shot forward at Brian's command with Quick Attack, right into Low Kick. This did quite a bit of damage to the Nickit, but to Brian's surprise, the Dark-type was still standing, albeit barely.
"So it's going to be that way, then," Brian sighed, looking at Lu, who was panting now. He could tell she was starting to get tired, but they needed to finish this. "Alright, Lu, one more Low Kick should finish it," he said, and Lu gave a nod before leaping at her opponent with a final Low Kick. The move made contact, and this time, the Nickit went down and didn't get back up. "Lu, ye need to rest," Brian said. "Eat this." He passed her a few berries, a couple to heal her back to full health, and another as a treat for doing so well.

Their next opponent turned out to be a Magikarp. Brian almost facepalmed at the irony of it, despite knowing how weak Magikarp tended to be. Still, if trained right, they could turn into powerhouses, especially when they finally evolved to Gyarados. This wasn't in his plans, however, so it needed to be dealt with. "Vacuum Wave to knock it out of the water," Brian said, and Lu immediately fired her Vacuum Wave into the water just in front of the Magikarp, causing it to use Splash to throw itself into the air. "Now Quick Attack it back into the water." Nodding, Lu jumped into the air and hit the Magikarp from above with Quick Attack, throwing it toward the water with such force that it knocked the poor Water-type out upon impact. "I wish the poor thing had put up a bit more of a fight," Brian sighed, before turning and walking away.

(( Dragon, I promise, this is not me running up numbers, this is just my dumb luck!))
The next pokemon Ryan and James would come across, even Lillie would recognize on sight. Stufful was something of an Alolan staple/bedtime story. If you grew up in Alola at any point as a kid, you knew about Stufful, and the horror it evolved into.
James would fire off his Water Pulse and soak the Stufful, which made it very unhappy. And as such, charges into James with a Take-Down. That would do some serious damage to James, and to its self.
Jame would use Water Pulse once more and send the Stufful packing.
Lillie and Clefairy would then Heal Pulse James back to full. They were proving lifesavers of late.
Before the set could move on, they were descended on by a pair of Roto-Drones, offering a free sample of bait. They take the samples and the Drones, zip-off, no doubt off to stun other trainers.

Ryan was having doubts about the validity of the claims the bait add offered, seeing as yet another poor Growlithe came to pass in front of them. James would just quietly do his job and Water Pulse the poor fire pup away.
"Ryan, try the bait again." Lillie urges him.
Ryan takes a deep breath, then pops open his SNAG and places a remote order with the Golden Sarcophagus. Minutes later Nebu would pop up next to him and handoff his purchase before disappearing.
"Don't ask." Ryan says with a wave to Lillie as he deployed a bait from his new stock.

Ryan just shakes his head. This was getting ridiculous, but at least James was benefitting from it. He knew his Drizzile had joked about taking a 10-minute nap and becoming Inteleon, but an intense workout? Just might.
Speaking of James, he would launch off his Water Pulse to catch the attention of the Machop, which was less than thrilled by how James did it and punched him back the face for it with Karate Chop.
It would take just one more Water Pulse and that Machop was sent to cool off as Lillie would have Clefairy top off James just incase a tough fight came up once more.

It was another bear all stuffed with fluff. James takes a step and hits the Stufful with a Water Pulse, making it a now wet and mad bear. As such, it would charge right into James with Take Down.
After catching his breath for a moment, James would strike back with Water Pulse once more and send the Stufful sprawling.
Lillie would have Clefairy heal up James once more.

Ryan would have to stop and look this one up. Huh. This one was kinda cool, especially when it evolved, but it wasn't the one he had been told about, so to battle it was!
He would have James start out with Water Pulse to get the Chewtle's attention. It would wobble over and then Bite down on James. James would Water Pulse again to try and get the Chewtle off him, which he did. But it came back with a Headbutt.
Once James shook his head clear, he would use Water Pulse again, this embued with the glow of his Sniper and would KO the tiny turtle.
Lillie would have Clefairy come over and heal up James with Heal Pulse.

Now this was a Pokemon Ryan wasn't expecting, but a fight was a fight. James would strike with his Water Pulse, sending the pink blob tumbling along, but once it had stopped, it would turn into James and rush in using U-Turn!
James was annoyed with this turn (hah!) if events and would use Water Pulse once more to secure the KO. even though Dittos were rare, they were also exceptionally weak.

It didn't take long for Keiko and William to run across another Pokemon, this time finding an icy bear cub.
"Aww, it's so cute," Keiko cooed. "I almost don't want to battle it. I'd feel bad if it got hurt because of me."
"I'd rather avoid fighting it as well," William agreed, looking nervous. "I"d rather he didn't hit Hydrangea with any super-effective Ice moves."
"It's mother could be right around the corner, too," Keiko commented, starting to look worried as well. "Yeah, let's go."
The two walked away, but were soon interrupted by what looked like one of the event organizers, who immediately went on a tirade about the event's sponsor before dropping a piece of bait into Keiko's hand before running off.
"Thank you," Keiko said, looking confused. Curious, Keiko threw the bait forward, the small ball of good-smelling mystery substance landing a decent distance away from the two trainers. Keiko and William stayed where they were, keeping their focus on it to see what Pokemon it would attract.
