It was kind of weird having another boy's hand on his head, but he certainly didn't mind it, and was ever so slightly disappointed when it stopped. He didn't say anything about that, though.

"Could always clip something into it," Toby suggested, "But I have no idea how any of that works. So...probably better not to." Still he seemed pleased by the tiny bit of jealousy. "But if you could easily change your hair color...what would you make it be?"

Toby laughed again. "Well, thanks for keeping it," he said lightly. He was honestly surprised that Izzy did, but he wasn't gonna complain.

"Happy to be me?" he echoed, considering. "I...guess I am, yeah," he nodded. "I do, uh, sometimes want to be part of something more important," he admitted after a moment. He was thinking, specifically, about wanting the people on his "side" in the secret magical war to be less of a mess, and more of a cohesive force, but there wasn't really any way to say that, so he shrugged.

"Or, wait, do you mean, uh," his face flushed red again, although it was hard to tell in this light, "looking *for* someone...?" He shook his head quickly.

"We're almost to my house," he added.

"Yeah, it's not bad. Though I'll bet living above a store is kind of cool, you know, when you don't have to work in it," Toby said with a smirk, and went back to the main topic.

"I mean, I'm always looking for more friends," he said, truthfully, "Though it'd be weird if everybody was my friend..." Girlfriends...how to approach that question...? "I don't have a girlfriend," he told Izzy, "and I'm not really looking, per se, but if I ended up with a...friend like that, I wouldn't mind."

Toby snorted, and shook his head. "Here," he said, gesturing to a somewhat narrow, but decidedly 2 story, house, and turning toward it before he actually responded. "You're...messing with me, aren't you?" he asked. "You would play matchmaker, huh?" He laughed. "Besides, being friends is more important than being a boyfriend."

The house was somewhat well lit, at the very least its garage and door had light, and there was light coming from various windows. The light showed it to be some variety of light color, with brick accents, and there was a faint sound of some variety of music drifting out from it.

"Three years, huh?" Toby replied, eyebrows raised. "That is impressive." He, apparently, took the boast at face value. "But trust me, I don't need a matchmaker right now." He shook his head. "I just wanna be friends first, then maybe we can graduate to boyfriends after that."

Well, that was almost the least subtle thing he could say in this situation, but he suspected the real meaning would be missed.

...Which was just fine, he figured, coming into the light and seeming a bit red-faced again, because he'd only just noticed he had a crush at all.

"I've got nothin' ta hide, I'm telling ya," he proclaimed as he fished out his key.

Toby had a look of mild confusion suddenly, his face pretty red as he pushed his door open.

It turned out that the door was pretty good at holding back sound, because there was a sudden blast of string music. "Hope the sound sheets on my door and wall are enough," he replied somewhat loudly in Izzy's direction.

There was a stairway just inside the door, plus ways to go left, right, and straight. The music was coming from the left, and Toby was pointing up the stairs.

"Oh yeah," he responded. The music was getting to a quieter point, so it wasn't too hard to hear.

He walked over to the archway on the left, stepped in a bit, and true to his guess, there was a man there surrounded by speakers, keyboards, he was holding a viola. The music was coming from the speakers, not him, but he was intently listening, and was doing, well something.

Toby called out, "Hi, dad!" and waved. The man looked up, smiled and waved back. His eyebrows went up when he spotted Izzy...although he didn't actually say anything.

Toby‘s dad actually turned down the music playing so they didn’t have to shout, which was awful nice of him...and it ensured that he clearly heard Izzy’s introduction. He nodded a little at ‘I’m sure Toby told you all about me,’ and his eyebrows managed to get even higher at the explanation of the outfit. His gaze drifted between the two boys for a moment.

Toby, naturally, had returned to having a very-red face, both looking and feeling thoroughly embarrassed by such a declaration.

Mr. Yates, after what seemed like ages (but was really only 2-3 seconds...just long enough to make Toby fidget. A lot), finally responded. He laughed. It was a big, hearty laugh, no sign of discomfort or disapproval at all. “Well. Good to meet you, Izzy,” he said finally. “I put an extra pizza in the oven when I got that text, so there’s stuff to eat soon if you want it.”
