 "I had originally arrived here to watch my daughter participate, since she'd expressed interest in these sorts of things. Instead, I arrived to find that she'd instead signed me up for it." Vüsala made a frustrated noise after, then continued. "Truth be told..." he paused a moment to find the best way to say it. "You can find someone to be interested in in these sorts of things, I suppose. But what can you learn of someone in fifteen minutes that would make you want to date them as a recreational thing. Instead you can learn more of your own likes and dislikes."
It wasn't that he was dismissing everything the event stood for, but fifteen minutes wasn't much time, especially when you had to meet several people in a row. How were you to keep them all separate?
"If you are interested in learning of medicine, or magic, or even glass-blowing, I wouldn't mind teaching a bit or working alongside you." Vüsala nodded toward the time. It was nearly up for the two of them. Each of these "dates" had felt more like the beginning of having a nice conversation that got cut too short too soon. He wouldn't mind exchanging contact information with all of those he'd spoken with and perhaps talking with them some other time.
None of them had seemed interested in the romance aspect of this game though, so he wasn't sure why any of them had signed up. One of the nearby skyfish came up to try flying between the two of them and he huffed out a laugh at its antics. Looks like he had another pet.
