Seren slowly came to consciousness, seeing that the Vermin King was defeated. Everyone had fought so hard, it seemed, and she felt a great deal of relief, seeing the beast's body sent off and out of their range, out of the ballroom. She turned towards the Queen and beamed... and then winced, as the light suddenly flooded the room. It was so painful, so hard on her eyes...
She tried to stay focused, but she could not... And her eyes closed, wincing in pain.
When it felt like the light had faded, she opened her eyes again... And found herself in bed, where she had fallen asleep. She blinked, and sat up, looking around the room in confusion. Her statue was nearby, and it seemed less... lifelike, less real then it had before. It also seemed to have shifted, how strange... Then again, that had been a very strange dream indeed, if it HAD been a dream. She sighed softly, then fell back into bed, and went back to sleep.

Gigi raised her hand against the sudden brightness as the shadows dispersed, taking their enemy with them. Was it over for real, this time? She squinted around the ballroom at the other warriors, but there was nothing left to fight. The applause surrounded her, a good sign that the rest of the party-goers were okay. And the queen was smiling, she thought, but it was so bright in here now.
She closed her eyes.
And just like that, it was all gone, all quiet. No more glamour or adulation. She’d left her bedroom light on.
Gigi covered her eyes again, sliding off the displaced coverlet and onto her feet with a groggy groan. She should go to bed properly. Or drink more coffee, always an option, celestially sanctioned. What time was it, anyway? Her phone was on the bedside table, the lock screen showing just after midnight. And the little ice fairy statue was next to it. It should have been on her trinket shelf, where she couldn’t knock the poor little thing over. Maybe she was still dreaming. She turned the statue over in her hands, but if anything it was more ordinary than when she’d received it. Less alive-looking. She carried it back to the shelf, and found another oddity sitting in its place. A little music box that she’d never seen before. Biting her lip, Gigi carefully repositioned box and statue together, in place of honour in her collection. Sometimes it was best not to try to interpret dreams.
