She was on the hunt. The prowl. The mission, (which was not impossible). Looking for potential targets she pictured herself as a much more subtle and less bitchy Black Widow seeking to eliminate those who stood in her way. She wanted to walk away with pockets overflowing and able to buy Kavinsky something nice. Like, a nice new dress suit nice so he'd not look so shabby on his date which she was going to set him up on once she did the second part of her mission which was find her teen father a date.
Violet eyes caught sight of a couple, very clearly in love, (to her approximation at least), and into each other to the point that pockets wouldn't be noticed. Stealing a small plate with a few cookies on it from one abandoned table, she made her way over, all causal like- and pretended to bump into a chair, spilling cookies on the floor. Getting down to grab the cookies, she slipped her fingers into a pocket and-
Jackpot.

Splashing some water on her face she was just being nit picky and decided to just go ahead and head home.
Drying off her face she grabbed her things and headed out.
Getting back to the table with the tote bag, Roxy was disappointed to see her little furry friend was gone. She spent some time searching for it, but had to give up as the night closed. She hoped the cat got out without getting caught. She finished up the night at her curfew, having to leave before the adult guests, and was picked up by her father, heading home.

Magnus lavished in the attention he got from the girl. In fact, he didn't even go after her hands for touching his delicate tummy. Instead he remained prone on the floor for her, only rolling back onto his stomach when food was presented to him.
With it laying on the floor, he reached out with a paw to bat it closer to himself before lowering his head to sniff at it. Eventually he hefted the shrimp to his mouth with a clawed paw to munch down his tasty little delight.
Point one for the cat.
Then the girl scampered off to get something, but Magnus had already found his attention drawn to a table littered with bags and smelling of sweets. Taking care to utilize the tabled drapes to his advantage, the large cat made his way through the room. When finally he made it under the correct table he stopped, licking maw, as he positioned himself on the back side so he'd hopefully not be seen.
A flick of a tail and Magnus half reached, half hopped to bat one of the bags off the table. In moments he was trotting off with his prize in his mouth. Taking the same route he had coming in, the Guardian slipped out of the stuffy charity ball before being seen again by anyone else.

Cassadega Bright
"Yeah, yeah," she replied, rolling her eyes at him even as she grinned. "I know, it's typical rich people party, look how generous we are it's a charity event." She pressed closer to him, something mischievous in her eyes. "Mostly wanted to look at people."
The silver ring in her lip was toyed with when she let her gaze sweep across the partygoers, the ones either eating or chatting or looking at whatever was around.
When he asked, she glanced back over at him to take in how devilishly handsome he looked. While Cass knew she cleaned up well and made for sexy eye candy, she could say the same for her boys. "I say, you need to find more excuses to go out all dolled up because I really enjoy how handsome you look," she stepped in front of him, fingers walking up his chest until she found his tie and she tugged on it to draw his much taller self down to her height for what looked like a kiss
Instead, she let her lips linger near his, barely apart, to tease.
"As for the party, looks cute. If we're going to spend the day together, might as well be at some fancy soirée where I get to show off." She moved to close the space between them.
When she drew back, she coaxed him towards the dancefloor.

Adaline Prescott
It took her five seconds to register who it was that she'd run into. When the event flyers had gone up, and she'd found one, she had spent hours googling the various hosts and the designer who's gowns were provided for it. That meant she had spent hours googling one Trey Cameron and now he was in front of her.
He looked worse for wear and nothing like the pictures google might've provided of him.
"Omigosh, are you Trey Cameron??" A enthusiastic squeal escaped her and suddenly Adaline was grinning from ear to ear. "Man, your mom is like, an amazing designer." She had started rambling without a second thought. "Oh, no. I'm not-- I mean, I was kinda but like, no this is way cooler than whatever I was doing."
Honestly, she couldn't remember what she'd been trying to do before she ran into him.
"I love your hair. Wait. Are you okay? You seem a little..." she waved her hand like it would fill in the word she was blanking on by gesture alone. "I mean, the place looks amazing and you totally had a hand in it didn't you?"

Noah Jones
Most of the food was pushed around the plate; vegetables were arranged in a way that prevented them from touching the other items on the plate, the portions of meat he had were cut up into small and easy to chew pieces, and the potatoes were occasionally speared by his fork and popped into his mouth. He wasn't eating much, he never did, but he was eating and that was going to have to be good enough.
Noah spent a majority of time watching as his companion ate, as many meals at the Jones house went.
By the time the ginger had decided that he was finished, a little under half of what had been plated had been consumed. Meager amounts compared to that of Paul, but more than normal so it was an improvement. "You hate this s**t Paulie. I have to drag you to them." Noah's tone was flat and his expression skeptical.
"But you know I like how attractive you look in a suit."
Rory Willows
Successfully catching several pieces of lettuce on her fork, they were popped into her mouth with the girl chewing thoughtfully as her boyfriend rambled on about what they could do next. Easily her thoughts drifted to their first meeting, the way he'd twirled her on the dance floor and indulged in her silly, tipsy whims.
Rory felt so brave then and now she struggled to remember what that was like.
She knew she was being silly and she took it out on the vegetables on her plate. Most of the food was eaten by the time she let her fork stay resting on her plate. Fingers tucked hair behind her ear and she leaned against the solidness that made up Akio. "As long as I'm with you, that's all that matters." The words seemed cheesy but he did wonders for soothing her nerves and insecurities that she tried so hard to keep buried.
"I wanna see the rest of the place first. We haven't even looked at the dresses or the tables."
Kavinsky
"If she gets a ******** cavity, you're getting her bill," Kavinsky snapped, though the heat wasn't quite there and it was clearly for show. Everything Banks was doing for him and Mory was a godsend and it was half of the reason he was at the stupid ball per the older man's request. It was the best thanks he could give considering all of his money went to making sure that he could afford to take care of the girl more prone to getting into a hairy situation than he had at her age.
He solved his problems with his fists where Mory solved hers with a brash attitude that gave no ******** and held no verbal punches.
Of ******** course he'd end up attached to the problem kid and feel like he wanted to do more for her. Maybe it was the kindred spirits thing or whatever.
He didn't know.
Shrugging at the lawyer he put his hands in his pockets, mumbling in Russian to himself. In english he said; "Yeah, yeah. Thanks...for her and everything." He was uncomfortable, clearly.

Paul Jones
He grinned at the comment, setting down his fork when he noticed the younger man retiring his to the dinner plate. There was still a fair amount of food but he could always get more elsewhere - keeping a spouse entertained on nights like this one, that was Paul Jones’s priority for the evening.
The napkin soon followed as eyes cut over to the redhead. “Yeah but doing what you want usually earns me a reward in return.”
A scuffle behind him drew his attention away for a split second, a cookie rolling off across the carpet as a clumsy girl appeared to have stumbled and dropped half her plate in the process. Hmph. They'd let children show up to anything these days.
Nevertheless, there was a wink as he pushed his chair back, focus returning to Noah. “And I happen to very much enjoy those rewards. But for now, I want to show my husband off on the dance floor.”
Rising from his chair, he stood tall and began to tug out the wrinkles and creases lining his dress shirt. Hand shifted down to adjust the lining of his slacks when Paul suddenly froze. His hand patted his back pocket for a second time, then all but scrambled to reach inside and discover a vacant space where his wallet was supposed to ******** widened as he shoved his chair to the side. Violet eyes scanned the carpet but came up with nothing but crumbs.
No, this couldn't be happening. No, no, no - he had a little over four hundred dollars in ******** class="quote">

Akio Yoshida
As she leaned back into him, his arm moved to wrap around and tug her closer. He'd abandoned his plate and the attention he held for anything else in the gala, turning his sole focus onto his date.
“Sorry, beautiful, I'm getting ahead of myself.” Lips found her temple and he leaned in to give her a quick squeeze. “I'm ready to check out the rest, if you are.”
He'd spotted the flower table when they'd entered and made a mental note to revisit it for one of the corsages. The dresses he was indifferent about but if his sweetheart wanted to view them, he'd happily accompany her throughout the entire ballroom if it meant keeping a smile lit up on her face.
Plus, there was always the promise of dancing to come…
Robert Banks
“Already concerned about cavities, hm? Look at you, you're fitting into the father role nicely, Kavinsky.”
He couldn't (or rather, wouldn't) hide the smirk that followed. It was easier, teasing and using banter as conversation rather than focusing on awkward moments that left him feeling more vulnerable than he'd care to admit.
Gratitude was exchanged and that was simply that.
He thought he saw a confection rolling across the carpet a little ways off but dismissed it as an overeager buffet participant. The thought did offer up an idea, however.
“I assume the two of you came by bus, then?”
His arm rose and a slender wrist offered his watch up, hazel eyes idly glancing at the time as if he had some place to be. “My client has already paid a…call on me this evening, so whenever the two of you have had your fill of Destiny City’s elite and snobbish, I can arrange a ride for the three of us.”
Pause.
“Maybe with a stop for food from something less…rich, even?”
He refused to look over to his companion, eyes watching the guests take advantage of the spacious dance floor. Most were blissfully unaware of the other dancers around them while some made a point to show off their skills over the untalented others.
“You clean up nice, by the way.”

Priscilla Stratford
"Coveralls? As in... like, in the garages?"
Her steps faltered for a moment as Prissy digested what the other girl was telling her. She... she hadn't intended on wearing a dress at all to the event? Her uncle - some man plucked the outfit out for the poor girl to put on instead of looking like a greasemonkey to a formal affair?
Oh goodness.
"Of course shopping is necessary. It's practically a hobby - you and I'll go, next week. What's the point in having a credit card if you don't use it now and again?"
Or, in Priscilla's case, use it every other day.
The steps resumed and she grinned, feeling even more magnanimous at the thought... well, and the promise of more shopping to come. With all the stress that came with planning balls and trying to stay on top of her energy quota, it would be nice to get out and about for some girl-time. "You will go with me, won't you?"
Cue: the saddest puppy dog eyes that the pinkette could manage.

Queenie Powers
The young woman had settled in to watch the event from the wall that Suri had chosen for them to rest against. It wasn't the most exciting of spots but it beat wearing an apron and trying to see things from the small window in the kitchen, right? When her superior suddenly disposed of her wine glass and took hold of her arm, however, Queenie couldn't help but let out a small squeak of surprise.
Her smile failed to hide the sheer elation she had at being led to the dance floor. Sure, Suri wasn't a handsome (and rich) young gentleman but she was the closest thing that Queenie had to a friend - and spending time with a boss-slash-friend at such an event was just as good, in the assistant's opinion. Maybe someone would notice her out there, looking graceful on the dance floor. Maybe no one would see her but her boss. Either way, she was destined for at least an enjoyable evening and that was more than satisfactory in her book.
One hand obediently moved to rest on the former teacher's shoulder while the other entwined with the blonde's.
"Waltzing?" The cheerful amusement was hard to suppress, "It sounds like this isn't your first rodeo when it comes to fancy soirées, Ms. Ellis."
"Ye...Yes." She looked away, "I don't do balls." It was a sad fact. Regan was not some upperclass citizen. She was an....She was a poor girl, from an abusive family and terrible school upbringing. The sheer fact that she was...close to anyone like Prissy and Chase would've been unreachable had it not been for...Chase or Adamantine.
"A hobby?" She didn't think she had many hobbies like that. Her exprience were just....cars. She was literally a car maniac. She built small models in her spare time.
"Chase won't be upset?" Her head cocked, as the card Chase had given her had only been used to purchase parts for Hermes or any of the other bikes in the garage....or tools according to it.
"Oh." Prissy was asking to go shopping....with her....later in the week. She didn't know what to say, usually the wolf pack did their own things. Her face totally met the puppy dog eyes and her face, for the first time, showed a bit of panic.
"Y..Yes." She said in a rush, missing a step in the dance. "Yes I will go."
Cue back to the stoic face again.

His expression, if anything, became even harder to read past and even more firmly the jovial mask. Trey wasn't, strictly speaking, surprised that he'd been recognized by sight, but he hadn't been expecting to be either. He could have happily gone the night without it, but now that he had been, he felt rather caught.
No way he could go back to anonymity now. Politeness, at the least, demanded small talk with what seemed to be a fan of his mother's work, and the business demanded he put some effort into wooing this fan to part with her hard earned money in some fashion... and if not money, than an unwitting spokesperson, spreading their brand by word of mouth. It was the same run-around it had always been, but right now, with everything on his shoulders... it made him sick.
Why don't they all just leave me alone? ...But of course he could never say that, let alone act on it. Suck it up. He allowed himself just a flicker of a moment to indulge the feeling before he pushed it firmly aside and dragged the business man to the forefront.
"Yes, I'm Trey. I'm so glad to hear you like Joellen's designs! She'll be very happy to hear about it, and I'm sorry she's not here to meet you in person. She loves to talk fashion with people who appreciate it the way she does." He said as he straightened, settling in pose of ease and easy conversation. She looked so excited by it all... he could at least take a little satisfaction in that. For all the panoply of it, the drama queen designers and stuck up models, the politicking and maneuvering... There was still that small kernel of joy that fashion could bring to people, if you looked hard enough for it...
He tried not to grimace as she asked if he was okay. Damn it. If a stranger could see the cracks, enough to be concerned about it, he must really be losing control. Trey waved a hand to clear away her concern, laughing softly.
"Oh, I'm fine! I did have a hand in organizing the ball, with Mr. Black's guidance, of course. I was quite pleased to do it and its been really a labor of love... which is perfect for the theme, I think. I hope you've been enjoying it? I really particularly like the caterer we got for it, and I suggest you try the cream puffs for sure, they are wonders."
"Oh my goodness, you fox!" Giggling, Lovi pushed him playfully. "Nobody said anything about your dancing skills on there, I promise." Most of it basically described him as this jockish football star with more charisma than he knew what to do with, and she wasn't entirely sure where all that came from. Jack was only a little taller than her, kinda twiggy, and that one type of person that took a while to come out of his shell. What were they called? Not shut-ins… Introverts? Yeah that sounded right.
Lovi raised a foot and dug at the heel of her shoe. "We can do both?" Her eyes lit up mischievously. "You are way more sly than I thought, young man!" As her foot found the ground again, she pointed her finger mock-accusingly at him. He was cute, in his own way. Maybe not her type, but he had a lot of personality and a pretty good head for doing what he wanted. Or what she wanted, really. Which was super sweet of him. Sorta like Xi-Wang, but more in a dately sense? Was dately a word? Whatever; they had a plan now, or he had a plan, and they were both totally gonna do it. Spill food on the security guards, get out, and then probably get thrown out. But it'd be worth it, right? She just needed to…
Carefully Lovi sidled alongside Jack, taking baby steps, nodding along (she really was listening), but sloooowly rotating her date until her hip bumped against a table. Then, while still making eye contact, two gift bags of candy found their way into her purse. Total accident. She definitely didn't tip them in there or anything. Why would she do that? The table had a reservation on it, after all. That'd just be mean.
"Okay. Get food, chat with guards, you distract and I look at the dresses. Got it. Oh, and I can totally run in these shoes," she said with a wink. "Let's go!" She wasn't gonna give him time to back out; Lovi snatched up his hand and dashed toward the long banquet tables, and they disappeared into the crowd for a dose of light mischief before the curtains on the charity ball closed.
It would be an eventful night, she was sure. One where a young man named Jack Burnett would earn his kiss on the cheek.

Pat O'Ryan
Pat's rather reserved smile at small crowd gathered around him loosened to one of more natural ease when the young lady who introduced herself as Melody enthusasticly greeted the other young lady of the group, Lilith. Apparently they knew each other quite well... honestly the stink eye he was getting from the first guy and the much nicer speculative look from the pup pretty much cemented the 'they all know each other really well' vibe, or at least the two boys knew Fiona.
The 'Ahhh!' moment when Fi introduced the guys, they might have already said their names but it didn't click at first. Zach and Khaleel. Fiona had mentioned them before. Not much but enough that he knew their names. So these were the Lost Boys. That ment that he really needed to make sure he didn't make an a** of himself.
"It's quite alright," Pat basicly waved off Melody's apology on intruding before commenting to Zach, "Right back at you. Fi has told me about you and Khaleel. So it's great to finally put a face to a name." He might have been fudging it a bit, since Fi had talked about them but nothing really in depth. Their conversations tended to run towards other directions. Before Pat could really say much else, not that there was much to say, the pup... Khaleel, got to remember his name is Khaleel... mentioned to his date about flowers, food, and dancing which prompted Pat to lean towards Fi and murmur, "I'll go get us some refreshments. Spend some time talking then I'm totally stealing you to dance the night away."
It was a dance afterall. With a smile, and after stealing another quick peck on the cheek, Pat went to find some refreshments for the two of them. Sparkling water for himself, since he was driving, and champagne for Fiona.
Pat's going to do the 'dodge the drunk' shenanigans now ^_^ he will be back with new pants and a slightly grumpy attitude xp

Adaline Prescott
Once she started rambling at him, Adaline realized that it might not have been the best idea to launch into all that she'd gathered from the good old inter-webs right off the bat. But it was too late to back off now and she was in the pursuit of knowledge at this point so she couldn't really stop...
"Do you know how long her like process is? Does she do the like sketch phase or put together these pieces herself?" She paused to look up thoughtfully, nose scrunched up. "You know what, never mind I'm sure there's an interview on google I could find later. Have you know Mr. Black very long?" Jumping topics was pretty easy when it came to Adaline and she was easily convinced to talk about the person in front of her so she could learn more.
"Yeah, yeah. I mean, I had a nasty run in with a dude who drank too much." She made a face but her grin was back on her face as she continued to ramble. "Aaaalmost caused an incident and got the heebie jeebies from...the one guy, with the piercing gold eyes? Yeah, he's kinda scary but in a neat way? Aaaaanyway."
As fast as she spoke, there were hand gestures to accompany them. "The staffing is like, incredible. They got me cleaned up quick. What about you? Meeting some neat people and doing that, uh what is it, networking? Yeah! Networking like these fancy things are for?"
