Sinter examines the zombies... There are 52 of them!

Sinter tucked his gerbil away for safekeeping. He jogged to catch up with his team, er... The Holy Giblet. Sinter was about to voice his concerns when Tamiya noticed the zombies. Sinter groaned. Zombies really were intent on moving in hordes. Even gerbils, it seemed.
Sinter's sneer dropped into a look of horror as zombies spilled around the corner--and kept spilling. More than fifty daywalkers filled the wide, vaulted hall of the Battleship. "Oh ******** me, Messiahs..."
His name was Holy Fuzz Giblet, and he was the new star of the show. Frossa spent a moment taking shots of the rotting critter in dramatic poses, flicking through the many filters as she recorded. Gold. Pure gold. The audience would eat this crap up.
She followed Giblet closely, camera aimed at his little rump. There seemed to be a bite mark missing out of it.
The wave of stench hit her well before the wall of corpses rounded the corner; their stench made her eyes sting.
A trap!
"BETRAYAL!" Frossa cried, zooming the camera in and out on Giblet shakily. "Treachery! Deception! We opened our bloodpushers up to you, Holy Fuzz Giblet, and how have you repaid us?!" Turning the camera on herself, she threw a wrist over her forehead and let out a dramatic sob. The tripod was once again set up.
"Hehe, so after we're done here should we find the airlock~?" She called out, rushing in to bowl over the first wave of daywalkers with a smart maneuver of her flail.

Punkie broke to her knees in defeat. It turned to anger, anger at.. the false prophet. Giblet had betrayed them all! Punkie stood up, and grabbed the gerbil in one hand, in the other was her dagger. "I HAVE SINNED FOR I HAVE BEEN FOOLED LIKE A ********> She wailed, the pain of her actions attacking her plumpbiscuit. When the zombies came, Punkie slammed the false prophet into one's face, and then stabbed her dagger into the small creature's chest, and subsequently, the zombie's head.

The standard daywalkers felt so frail compared to their mutated counterparts. Sinter had almost forgotten what it felt like to cleave one into two. He relished the sensation while he could. He felt so much stronger on this playing field, despite the massive difference in numbers. As the living trolls entered the fray, Sinter was swept into the complete focus on zombie slaying. The kill count ticked higher at a soothing pace. He was tired, but efficient.

Sinter and crew were at full pace now, mowing down zombies in their path. Surely this was the bulk of their sector? A city-sized ship was nothing to shake a nub at, but more than two scores of zombies was a frightful sight to come upon all at once.
Tamiya crushed bones and smashed through gore and guts, holding her breath at the putrid smell filling the air. She took care not to slip on what she spilled.
The False Prophet Fuzz Giblet's cruxification was throughly captured on camera. But at a horrid angle! Frossa gasped, stumbling over the growing pile of motionless corpses in a frenzy to get back to the tripod- she needed a better shot of this! Retracting her flail, she opted instead to bash a few skulls in the old fashioned way.
Once the camera was safely back in her hands, Frossa made a point to get a close up of Giblet's still faintly writhing form empaled on a zombie skull.
What an arc.

Her rage continued, and it was hard to just end such a thing. She used it while she could, but it was without focus or direction. It was for the False Prophet, not the zombies around, tho they did help her let off some steam. Her plumpbiscuit beat for real revenge, redemption, anything that would tell her the Messiahs had forgiven her. She just hoped that they could do such a thing.

They were doing it. They were really doing it. The battlefield had changed as the bodies piled up around Sinter's ankles. He was forced to jump and climb to outpace his targets. Thankfully he had the agility advantage by a landslide. Or corpse-slide, as it was. A daywalker tripped backwards over its brethren. Sinter lobotomized it while using the body as a stepping stone to reach yet more doomed shadowdroppers.

Things were finally winding down. Tamiya stumbled and fell onto her hands and knees, retching in the face of a fallen daywalker as she took in the carnage from the floor level. Wiping herself up, she gave a shaky thumbs up to wherever the camera was and crushed a couple of heads while she was in the area.
There were only a few daywalkers left now. Frossa drew in a shaky breath, steadying herself as she swung her flail back and forth. It had been a glorious battle; one of overwhelming odds they had somehow flipped back to their favour. A true victory for Alternia.
...While they might have never been in true peril, the seemingly endless waves of bodies made for wonderously dramatic shots.

Her anger focused, and she was able to act more clearly now. "You TAINTED him!" She yelled at the undead. "He was probably a ******** fine piece of s**t before your kind went and undeaded him you ********> She yelled, tears of guilt, betrayal, and loss all glistened on her painted cheeks.

The last of the zombies fell. Cutting his way through the throng had conveniently ended with him at the far end of the hallway. He walked several steps until he was at the intersection of the hallway. He peered around the corner in case they somehow managed to underestimate their absurd number of zombie assailants.
Nothing in either direction. Sinter made a decision and moved ahead.

Sinter stared up at the door with an icy fire building in the pit of his stomach. This was it. The steering systems were just on the other side. The gravity of it all set in full force. Heavily, Sinter dropped beside the door frame and set to work disarming the security system. He'd become far too practiced at this act. Hopefully current generation Alternian technology had advanced beyond these set-ups.
Sinter disengaged the booby traps. Frossa would get the lock. They were in.

If the mini-boss reaches 0hp, look below:
If this is your first, second or third mini-boss fight look below:
If a member of your team is a trained Discipline or Endurace specialist OR registered as in-training for either:
You can close your eyes and draw on inner reserves to keep going. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained. If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Restore 1d10+3 OR 1/3rd (rounded down) of your hp. If you are a Novice in your skill: Restore 1d8+2 OR 1/4th (rounded down) of your hp. You can manage to cheer, rally, or cajole your teammates into finding more energy. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained. If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+3 (rolled separately) hp. If you are a Novice in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+2 (rolled separately) hp. If you are training your skill: Each team member restores 1d4+1 (rolled separately) hp.
If this is your fourth mini-boss fight, you have reached one of the steering systems! Roll 1d4 in the spoiler below:
1 - The other teams appear to have been successful in their endeavors. There's enough power available for you to reengage the system. The entire room illuminates and roars with life. It's perhaps dangerous to hang around in here too long, but in the meantime the amount of energy in the air makes you feel powerful. 2 - The tendrils of the ship's wiring look like a crime scene, or perhaps a particularly gory nest. Headquarters gives you harried instructions to shut down and isolate the area before the whole ship goes up in flames. 3 - An undead helmsman is still tethered to the center console. They don't have the ability to provide power, but their presence is preventing the back-up systems from triggering. You remove the zombie and the system reengages successfully. 4 - The room is dark and cold, but with instructions from headquarters and the efforts of the teams on the other decks, the system has enough power to reboot itself. The ship begins to thrum with life. It makes your horns tingle and your hair stand on end. Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

Tamiya heals Sinter for 10 HP! yum_pie
Tamiya deals 3 damage.
“Punkie,” Tamiya called. The orangeblood was inconsolable, screaming and crying over spilt hoofbeast juice. She puckered her lips, her nose wrinkling in distaste. All this for a creature. “Punkie-- PUNKIE!” Tamiya’s voice was a roar. She marched over to the soldier under her and grasped her round cheeks in a firm grip.
“Pull your goddamned self together.” She whispered, dragging her fingers gently down Punkie’s cheeks. “Focus, juggletits. Time spent on false prophets is time wasted in slicktrumpets and sheer idiocy. You are better than this. ******** gourd up and follow me.”
Tamiya produced a tub of white greasepaint from her uniform. “And for Messiah’s sakes, your make-up is starting to run. Here.” She put a hand on Punkie’s shoulder before turning to follow Sinter’s progress. He had made headway, scouting as usual to the success of the team. When she saw him stop, Tamiya hurried over to the door. She turned to her moirail, suddenly grabbing his arm.
“Messiahs watch over you.” She hummed, and pressed her nails into him hard enough to pierce. Tamiya’s rejuvenating blessing lasted a long beat before she gave her team a firm nod. “I will make the first advance. Follow closely.”
Tired but abuzz, the subjugglator slid through the door. Familiar sounds of metal-against-metal hit her ears. Another enemy, covered in blades - one of even greater size than their first opponent. The final commander. Tamiya’s throat bobbed as she swallowed her fears, and launched in for the attack.
