Jolene had been starting to think she may have been stood up when Joy finally joined the party and made herself known. She smiled anxiously at her, wow the woman was more dressed up for this than she was and she immediately felt self conscious over that fact. Had it been a date for that person? Jolene had been under the impression this was simply a meet and greet thing and not a full on date-date. In any case she extended her hand to the person. "I like your dress too, it's very pretty."

Then she nervously tried to think of anything, anything at all to talk about and blurted out the first thing that came to mind, "There's so many people here, where are we supposed to sit?" The smoothest.

Large group of people. Check.

Not sure why she got a text to be here. Check.

Her sister up to something again. Check.

Lunaire scribbled her name with a dying marker onto her name tag before tensing up a bit in the middle of the room. Notices that this was for speed dating hung on the walls and her heart sank just a little bit more. Not this again.

The voice of her weapon seemed distant but amused at least, << You could use this, I grow bored looking at your little magic book screen. >>

She opened her mouth to protest against Lei but someone was calling her name. Someone wearing a silly tag with an umbrella.

Slowly she made her way over to October frowning, "Lunaire, and you are?" She glanced around, a long hand sticking up in the distance, "And I guess that's Inoke?" She frowned, "Why is it three of us instead of one on one? Isn't that how these dumb things work?"

"Likewise. There are people I have never met and plenty of new hunters around. Socializing is what I enjoy and I was curious how this would go. Considering we aren't in the Sahara yet, I find it a success so far. Though I wouldn't be opposed to something more should things move that way...and I certainly wouldn't mind with current conpany."

He continued to amile. "So what would you be getting up to that is so bad that you would need a play to lay low?" He glanced at the pillows near them and back to him.

Sid rose a brow and then just a hint of a smirk, maybe a little pride that the other man didn’t think he was a complete waste of his time, to be fair he had no objection either but it was still the first date of the night. “Sahara? Is that something that happens often at events around here?” As in did he need to be a little more prepared when showing up to the next party incase some sort of zombie attack were to ensure, should he have stuffed his pockets with a few snacks just incase.

When Melvin glanced at the pillows, it took a second before Sid let out a chuckle. “Not that I would object to laying low in that sense, present company included. I meant more of just a few places to hide out when s**t hits the fan, though this island isn’t as big as I hoped it would be.” Little less of a resort as he had hoped too.

Joy shook Jolene's hand, surely this didn't count for the "no touching" rule, right? "Thanks, I didn't realize it was a speed dating thing actually. Otherwise I would have dressed differently." Joy admitted. She was looking to just unwind and mingle, but now with the whole "date" thing was messing with her.

At the concern about seating, Joy gave made hmm-ing sounds, "The floor maybe? We can just snag some of the pillows and sit on them."

A beat.

"So, uh, I'm actually not sure what you do at speed dating? Only dating-type shows I've seen were those mystery bachelor-date set ups." Joy wasn't even sure if she wanted a real date-date to begin with.

With Kade finally off of his lap - although there was, admittedly, a brief flicker of disappointment to this that Nash instinctively squashed - he could focus more on his date, Nash sliding off the desk he'd been sitting on. He leaned against it instead, hands tucked into the pockets of his black skinny jeans.

"I think that's why a few people are here," said Nash, but it wasn't condescending, because it was why he had made the whole thing in the first place. Meeting people on an island where they were permanently stuck was an important thing, after all.

His grin widened. "Confidence can be attractive, yes," he said, voice casual, though deliberately pitched just slightly higher than his usual speaking level; there were a lot of people in the room to talk over. "But dresses are nice too, I have one or two lying around, but mostly skirts, those are easier for me."

And entertaining. Nash raised a brow. "What sort of countries have you been to?"

Acheri slid through his thoughts. Nash ignored him and said, "I like dares and excitement and people. Not necessarily all together, but sometimes. I used to do all sorts of s**t, like seeing how far you can push things without breaking rules, but you gotta be careful in a place like this."

Gretel was spacing out, slightly bored by the social gathering. She would prefer to spend her day in the infirmary, taking care of the injured while reading a novel. In other words, she didn't fit in at all. As if to bother her more, the mist trainee heard her name being shouted like she was a lost kid. She stood and made a short sigh, moved to whoever was calling her name.

"You can stop that now, I'm Gretel, who you're looking for." She gave him a rough glance, and her stare paused at the name tag over his chest. Land Essex it read, so he was her partner in the orientation?

She showed him her name tag, on her hunter coat. "I'm quite new, so what we need to do exactly?" Gretel honestly stated her problem and asked the man who seemed to have a grasp of what's going on. While she was checking the place, she spotted someone was sitting on another's laps and she frowned at it. Even the man got off later, she felt awkward to be in the same place as he did. The trainee took out a bottle from her pocket and got a pill-like mint candy to put into her mouth.

Everything on the island was so strange to her, it seemed normality didn't apply well there. Realization of that made her anxious.

Ace grinned at the man talking to him, "Isn't it a good name? I thought it for myself." Just a few seconds after that, he supplemented. "I guess it's not a bad start if I would leave you an impression." He reached a hand out for a handshake, "Nice to meet you, are you possibly Mr. Ever Ambrodiel?" The smile on his face deepened.

He leaned back, putting the pillow once on his laps aside. "Mind sitting with me?" The Sun trainee didn't wear his black gloves since it was unnecessary for non mission day, he carried them with him though. "To be honest, that's my first time joining a speed dating, it seems fun but what shall we do?" Ace threw his partner the question with a mischievous smile, it was hard to tell if he was lying.
