SIXTH TASK: Cure Barrier eliminated, you make your way back to your sanctuary easily. The animal seems to have settled in, and no longer regards you warily. All that's left is assembling the cure - whether that's constructing a splint or making a poultice - and administering it to your charge. OOC Footnote 10. After working a bit, you step back and allow the animal to approach and examine your work more closely. +2 trust Current HP: 01 / 30 Current Trust: 48 + 02 = 50 Section notes: Progress points 00 + 03 = 03 / 30

Light was a deep sleeper. Asleep on his back the whole time, he was rested against a big boulder, both cooling yet still warm from the desert heat. He'd murmured something about Above Heartache in his sleep, his happy heart still longing to see her again. One of his legs sporadically spasmed and it woke him up. Not sure where he was, still in a dreamy daze, the grandpa acha looked around rather lost. "Hmm how did I end up here? Was I sleep walking again?" he asked himself, questioning why he was laid down in the mud. but his thoughts of what happened earlier soon got erased and filled with a pleading cry for help. Turning his ears towards the sad sound, Light in the Ocean discovered an injured Mongoose. It laid wedged between a slab of granite and a dead tree trunk - completely stuck unless someone could lift it out of confinement.. . FIRST TASK: Bribery Light wanted to get closer to see how he could help. "Maybe you're hungry?" he asked the critter, and nudged an acorn with his nose towards the Mongoose.
It held onto the sustenance and sniffed it, desperately wanting to eat it. but the mongoose started to wriggle madly again as it saw the acha approach closer, dropping the nut while it panicked.
OOC Footnote 4-5: You find something it likes, but it doesn't stay close long enough for you to get a good look. Still, you gain 2 trust. Current HP: 30 / 30 Current Trust: 10 + 02 = 12 Section notes: 9-10 to succeed Sure, you want to help. But you can't really do anything unless you know more about the nature of the injury. As any injured animal would be, this creature is more than a little jittery. You're going to have to bribe it to be allowed any closer. Each time you roll, describe what you're attempting to bribe the animal with.

He still wanted to help the Mongoose out of its entrapment and waved a fruitful branch with berries in front of it, hoping the critter would squirm itself out.
Mistakenly seen as a threat, the critter screech and squirmed some more.
"Oh no no, no, please calm down, I'm not here to hurt you. I want to help you" pleaded the acha. and Light dropped the stick almost immediately out of his mouth.

At this time, Light decided to be upfront with the Mongoose.
"Look, I don't eat meat, so I won't eat you. I want to HELP." he spoke out loud. "Let me help. Do you understand?" he asked the critter.
With slower movements, he picked up a plain tree branch in his mouth and mumbled "Herre. holdth onto thish" he spoke as clearly as he could, saliva slowly oozing down the side of his mouth.
THe Mongoose, surprisingly, seemed to understand the big blue animal. Reaching out with both paws, it held onto the branch, allowing Light in the Ocean to slowly pull the critter out of its dilemma.

SECOND TASK: Identification He wanted to get closer to see why this Mongoose was in so much pain. Curiously, he nosed his way straight towards the tail, trying to lift it up and see if it was injured. However, that's what he intended to do but surely, the critter's sharp claws met the side of his face as it defended itself, resulting towards hostility.
" Ouch!" yelped Light.
Using his back hoof, he rubbed the spot that was sore. The acha watched the critter and wondered how in the world he could get near it.
OOC Footnote 6. Unfortunately, there are parts of the animal's anatomy that you just have to look at, to eliminate all possibilities. The animal doesn't seem pleased, though, and the examination unfortunately produces no results for you this time. -2 HP Current HP: 30 - 02 = 28 / 30 Current Trust: 13 Section notes: 00 / 03 clues

He decided to give it some space. A long long time of space and silence.
Light had no idea how long he stood there, still as a rock, as he had watched the Mongoose. It didn't run away and instead, looked up at him with gentle eyes.
The grandpa acha became nervous, not wanting to scare the critter away, and hunched down low to the ground, trying to make himself into a tinier being.
He inched forward bit by bit, still staring at the critter, and it remained immobile, letting the acha get near him.
Phew.

When he got close enough, he nuzzled the Mongoose's back, hoping its spine was not injured. ..
And it wasn't.
The Mongoose purred as he slowly turned around and exposed its injured neck and belly at the Acha, thinking that Light was going to groom him.

THere! THere it is! he spoke out loud in his mind. It is injured at the neck!
Light dove his head down a little too fast wanting to lick the wound with his tongue, but it startled the critter instead. It squirmed and wriggled itself away from the acha.

The acha took quick actions and nudged his nose against the Mongoose's neck. Something wet greeted his nose and he jerked his head back. Tongue sliding out of his mouth, Light licked his own nose and tested the metallic liquid. He shivered. Blood. It's the taste of blood.
Looking at the critter again, it was not happy with his actions and it stood on all fours, its hairs upright, all in defense mode. But at least now he knew that the neck area had a small open wound.

Next he wanted to see the Mongoose's belly again. Quickly, he pushed the critter over with a quick sweep of his hoof, and then he dove in to nose the belly too. Sadly, that was a wrong move. The Mongoose leaped into the air and scratched his leg, and then bit him.
"Ouch Ouch!" he wobbled away for a few steps, flabbergasted at the critter's surprise attack.
OOC Footnote 5. Something you did sets the animal off immediately, and it lashes out at you surprisingly violently in reaction. Perhaps that's a sign of what went wrong here, though. +1 clue, -3 HP Current HP: 28 - 03 = 25 / 30 Current Trust: 16 Section notes: 02 / 03 clues
