Yup. That was one fallen wheel. He started to turn back to the group, his mouth opening to speak but was cut off by a rather angry 'HEY!' Followed by quite the perturbed blue fae. One of the newcomers he didn't know.
Take over doing your own thing? The demon blinked before straightening to fully meet the other, just as he stubbed his toe and began hopping around. He winced in sympathy before stepping forward himself. "Ah, really sorry for lack of introductions. Got a little tunnel vision with the whole...really bad wheel situation. As for who I think I am. Well, I'm Dameon. And my wife Starry and I are the village leaders." He reached up to rub the back of his neck. "So I apologize if we seemed a bit...brash to the situation. But surely you understand the severity of the situation, and why we would immediately insert ourselves in it." A bit of a smile to both the blue male and his companion. Was she his companion? Seemed like it. "Now! That all being said, I get if you want to head on your way, but we'd certainly appreciate your help if you stayed. We'd provide you with lodging and dinner and a place to rest your animals for the trouble for tonight. And of course...with the wheel fix, we'd have a working mill again." Oh, what a mess. The female bobbed above the surface, watching as everything suddenly had stopped, when whipped right back up in a flurry. Apparently the rams and mules were going to pull the wheel out...Oh! She should get out of the water then! The naiad flicked back onto the shore, shaking her hair back from her face.

"Oh my goodness! No! Bad! Naughty rams!" Eudora rushed to Pel's aid. As he hid behind her, she took the ram's muzzle in question and gently but firmly guided it away from the nymph's general direction before lightly booping the animal on the nose. "I don't know what's gotten into them! They're normally so sweet," she explained over her shoulder, shooting Pel an apologetic look. "I'm so sorry about that; I appreciate the help with them though."
Meanwhile, Eudora had forgotten about the dried grapes in her hand, but the rams hadn't. One of the cheeky animals butted its nose against the side of her palm until her hand opened enough for the treats to slip out and fall. They barely had time to hit the ground before the rams were contentedly chewing the dried fruits.
"Oh, you little devils," Eudora muttered at the animals under her breath as one of the new demons neared their small gathering. She wanted to comment on Pel's nickname for the rams, but the cloud comment would have to wait, as it seemed she was at least getting an answer to the mystery of who these new Pae were. Wait...these were the village leaders? Then...who was the eager young nymph? That was still a mystery it seemed. Still, that didn't change the fact that the village clearly needed help. Really, the question in her mind was simply whether they tarried and stayed the night, taking the advantage of the offered hospitality, or if they pushed on in the hope of making their next stop by nightfall. Shooting a concerned look towards Lucius' injured foot, she was inclined to stay if only to make sure he got some rest and stayed off of that foot for a while. If she said something though, with his current mood, he may push to move on just out of stubborn spite.
Keeping her concerns quiet, she simply asked, "Lucius? What do you think? Should we stay? We do still need that flour milled before we get to our next stop."

The little bushthing with eyeballs watched now that the other bush had gotten distracted. It pondered why all these large ones were standing around again. "When are you guys going to fix my... umm the mistake?"

Alma danced from the left to the right eagerly watching the animal teams at the top of the waterfall willing them to move. It was only the voices introducing themselves that caught her ear. They were estimating the job and their timing was way off.
Looking to Dameon her head tilted and brow knitted together. Starting to correct him, she heard the giggle bush also asked about the time line. Proudly with volume Alma responded, "As soon as the wheel is out of the water I'll fix it from that end and it will work." Probably, she didn't know how wheels work of this nature. "The next part is on me with rocks to keep this from happening again." Chal would help the animal teams, if the other fae would hold on just a little while longer the wheel would be up and the village could examine it before she bricked it in.

Lucius threw his arms in the air in defeat and hunched over. "Fine. What do you want me to do? I gathered rocks for the lil nymph. Do I need to gather some more or what?" Lucius thought it kind of weird that they would want to know the lineage of the helpers before helping with the wheel. And the way Alma zipped around trying to get it fixed reminded him of his mother's energy when it came to village crisis.
Eudora was at least staying cheerful and helping the blue guy with the rams."I guess we'll need to stay, Choice or not. I don't want to be stuck in the middle of Cha'en tonight" They had their meager camping gear for those long stretches on the trade route, but some places were unsafe. Stopping in the middle that so-called beach (should be a desert) is not safe with the night predators around.
In the back of his mind, he wondered if they could find a new mill or a way to get the wheat, coffee and cacoa processed. He moved towards Dameon and bowed his head a little. "I'm Lucius Sparks of Sparks Hollow. I have been doing the trading for sometime now, as this isn't my first visit. I have the chicle, latex extraction, bamboo, some spices and a few of my mom's new books up for trade once the mill is fixed. If it gets fixed. We're due in Las Venus after the next 2 sunrises." Of course, it wasn't a social call or vacation, as much as Lucius wished. No, they are a major trading partner because they always need Sparks' special spices and pineapples. The latex seemed to be important to them as well, because they always wanted a lot of it. They really had nothing for export, but the currency was helpful in other stops. That and they were able to get some clippings for Dizzy's gardens. After all, Venus does keep a beautiful garden on the island in her village.
"Eudora, let's just help finish. We can stay the night and get our milling done in the morning so the other traders can get their chance at it first." He sighed, as he hated to be late. Even if there's no such thing as 'on-time' in Telrunya's recent trading boom.EvilSilverDragon Because Alma is mentioned

Chal watched the water for his cue to get the animals moving. The naiad was moving away from the wheel so it seemed all was well. He turned back to the animals to make sure that everything was still ok on his end still, animals could be fickle after all. It seemed there was something going on with the mountain rams so Chal stopped and waited until all seemed calm again. "Okay, here we go!" Chal shouted a loud for everyone to hear. They didn't need anyone to get in the way crossing the rope or something. "Call out if you need me to have them stop for any reason." Chal gave the mules another gentle pat before saying "Yup" to the animals to get them moving, he wasn't sure if the rams knew the command, but hopefully they would get the right idea when the mules started pulling. Chal crossed his fingers that they had enough animal power to get the wheel out of the water. Quote: literally everyone who can hear

Star smiled to her husband, grateful he was able to explain the situation. But there was no time to linger in the thought. The bush was speaking again, and it sounded guilty. "Little Bush, we're fixing your accident right now." Star was still smiling, sweet. Not scolding. "Will you tell me what happened?" The dark blue demoness gently questioned, "I promise you're not in trouble." She tried coaxing the bush to confess about their mistake.Junior faintly heard the commands issued from Alma, and shrugged his agreement. She clearly knew what she was doing, and he was still in shock from the wheel being broken. The look-a-like exited the waters with his mate, kissing the side of her head. "I'm off to get the lumber to fix the wheel's lip." There was a 'Yup' from Chal, and the ropes on the wheel tightened, pulling the wheel out of river. It wasn't too far to get the required lumber, really, just as far as where the other pair of fae were gathering rocks.

Alma watched the wheel exit the water cheering with pride! The team was working and everything was on track. Her eyes followed Junior while he looked at the wheel. From her view point things looked rough but there was no way she'd know what was wrong with it. Starry spoke to the bush, but the continued wonder on how was lost on her. "Something about a bratty bush, probably a tumbleweed." It was an idea, but one without much base. Pip was a good giggle bush, she was glad the leaders weren't being harsh on it.
Satisfied that he knew what he was doing she called up to Chal, "Great work, try to keep the animals steady!" He knew what he was doing, there was no shortage of warmth for the male.
No time to rest, Alma left her post and went back to working on her bricks. If the yellow demon needed to fix the wheel, she'd get the other part together. While she'd been more focused on her work then listening to everything around her, she'd made progress. Here the premade brick groups formed from the rocks offered and the nymph worked to build the counter for the wheel spoke to sit on from this side of the river. Not only would it stabilize and encase the object, but it would help take the burden off the animals as she created. Quote: everyone else, go team go!

Skylie stood next to the oops bush, she looked from the funny 'helping' bush to Starry. "Da bush is helping, I help da bush!" she held up her hand with a couple pebbles in the palm "See? with dese" she told Starry before the bush started talking with a big smile on her face. Cinnamon skirted the little bush still trying to inspect it and figure it out.

At some point, Alma's voice snapped the young snek-demon out of his confused gazings and back to the reality of the issue at hand. He didn't have any particular abilities to help in any special way, so manual labor would have to do. Luckily for him, he'd ended up with a sizable number of rocks in his arms (no doubt due to the noisy bushes he was so concerned with).
As much as he was still wary of them, he was a simple pae. Arguably an idiot. If everyone else was acting as if it was normal, that must just be how it was.
(Even if it wasn't normal).
Flapping his wings and heading over to Alma, he presented her the rocks with outstretched arms and a (albeit hesitant and a tad on the nervously twitchy side) smile.
Once he had handed off the stones, he awaited a further order.

Pel watched, amazed as Eudora handled the giant clouds with such ease. Then stared some more as she ruffled their fluffiness. Eudora was nice. The cloud monsters were nice. He looked at the fairy in question, then the clouds, then back at Eudora, then back at the giant clouds. He opened his mouth to ask Eudora a question when she turned and asked the other guy about leaving. Pel furrowed his brows. He didnt want the clouds to leave. He liked them. Even if they did steal berries he didn't give em permission to take. Leaning to Eudora he asked "Stop? Your traders? " before jumping into another question "That means you live somewhere with the cloud critters, right? Are there more clouds where you live?" He asked. He even motioned at the happy clouds.

Eudora let her relief be evident when Lucius stated that they would be staying the night. "Sounds good. Better than trekking about in the middle of nowhere in the night," she agreed with an enthusiastic nod. Truthfully, she was more concerned about taking time for Lucius to rest his foot before they took off again. Even if it was just a light bump, she'd rather be sure before they moved on. They still had a long way to go before going home. Avoiding the night time predators of the isle was of course a legit concern, but also a good reason that would invite less argument.
While Lucius turned to deal with the village heads, she accepted her current task of watching the rams while talking with Pel. It seemed the wheel was up at last and repairs were on the way with the gathered supplies. A bit bumpy, but things seemed to be on track now. She felt less guilty turning away from the action to speak with her (and the rams') new friend. Cloud critters?! The term brought forth a bubbling laugh from the Fae's lips and she patted the closest ram fondly. "Yes, we're traders from Sparks Hollow. Lucius normally does the trading for the village, but I'm trying to help out, so this is my first time here. Do you live here too then?" She paused, taking a glance back at the wheel and to make sure she wasn't missing anyone trying to get her attention, then turned back with a smile. "Um...well, to be honest, I'm not sure. I'm still sort of new to Sparks Hollow. I just met these wonderful 'cloud critters' when we started our trip. I suppose there might be more back home?"
Oooh, wait! Had they been properly introduced? She didn't think so? For just a passing moment, the nymph had seemed familiar, but for the life of her, she wasn't sure why. Dismissing the notion, Eudora held out her hand in greeting. "So sorry! I completely forgot! I'm Eudora and that's Lucius," she said, pointing to the other Fae over her shoulder. "What's your name? It's very nice to meet you! What sorts of things do you do here in Star Grove?"
And the questions have begun.

Pelagious nodded as she explained. Then he tried to answer her questions. While simultaneously inching closer to the clouds. He couldnt help himself. They were so cute and fluffy. "Live here?" He paused and thought about it. "I'm not sure i live here, in this town. I mean, i made a home across the bridge on the shoreline." He pointed in the general direction of his not so humble shack. "I don't really do much." He said, stroking the clouds almost absently as his eyes softened a bit. "I take care of Pū, and make clothes. I make jellies out of my berries that these rotten little fluff monsters were trying to steal." He paused and leaned his head down toward the 'fluff monsters' affectionately and scratching their ears before continuing. "I used to plumb things. Be a plumber? I laid pipes and whatnot. I could go whereever i wanted in the valley. Still not sure why i stopped." He took a shaky breath as the fond memories of his adventures flitted thru his mind for a second. He jerked his head up and shook some of the moisture out of his eyes. He turned to Eudora and plastered a huge smile on his face. "Sorry. Damn memories. They come more readily with these wretched grapes. Tell me more about you?" He asked. "And what is Sparks Hollow like?"

Chal was completely focused on the animals, watching to see if either one of them was struggling, working to keep them focused on the task at hand. The other male who was helping with the mountain ram was conversing with the female they had borrowed the ram from, but Chal could hardly pay attention to the conversation. The only thing he was listening for was some sort of commands for him to stop or to change directions if they needed to wiggle it out. "Good work." Chal said to the animals, grabbing a treat for the mule from his satchel. He had already watched Pelagious give several treats to the mountain goat.
For a moment Chal's eyes drifted to the water's edge to see how they were progressing. "Almost there..." he said thoughtfully, the wheel was starting to come out of the water now, it was probably making a real awful mess of the mud, but it really was the best they could do.
With a little more effort the wheel was out of the water. "Alright, alright, good. Stop." Chal said to the animals, rewarding them with more treats. "Phew." He wasn't even doing the heavy lifting and he was tired.

Oh, so he lived close by, just not immediately inside the village. Eudora nodded enthusiastically while processing all this new information. Some details did give her pause and cause her to make a funny face for a moment. Taking care of...poo? Had she heard correctly? "So you...help clean up after the village animals?" she questioned hesitantly. Was that what he'd said? The other items sounded fascinating however. "Ooo, what types of clothes? And I do love jellies and jams." To be honest, she had been rather curious about the grapes, but wasn't quite sure how to ask that question...yet.
With a glance towards the wheel, she noted that the animals had gotten the dislodged contraption back up out of the river rocks. Good. She supposed that just left the ones to make the repairs to the center part and maybe they'd have things mostly taken care of.
"Plumb things? Pipes? What did the pipes do?" she returned to her questioning without skipping a beat. She'd not heard of this 'plumbing' thing before, but if he used to do that sort of thing all over...was it some kind of service? Was this something a lot of people needed? Only when she noticed the tears in his eyes did Eudora's mental line of questioning cease. "Oh gosh, I'm sorry! We don't have to talk about it if you don't want!"
As the conversation turned to her, Eudora considered her answer. "Me? Well, uh...I just moved to Sparks Hollow recently with my two girls. There's all kinds of Fae there, and even Nymphs and Water Sprites too! They study a lot there about ancient Fae culture and there are these neat treetop houses with walkways high over the jungle floor! Of course, there's homes down on the ground too, all decorated with firefly lights and even big mushroom houses." Eudora's enthusiasm was obvious as she related some of the wondrous things she'd seen in her new home recently. Of course, it had been the first sizable settlement she'd ever seen, but even so, she held the place in awe from just what she'd seen so far. That being said, they had a long journey ahead of them and there was no telling what sorts of things she may see by the end of it. "I wasn't really sure how to help out, having just moved in, so I offered to help with the trade route trip," she explained finally.
