[ THE DISSECTION ROOM ]

After looking back and forth between Lucky and Caroline a few times, Mimsy cautiously determined that not answering Mark's question about losing anyone else was the only viable route. The most honest answer that she could give was also the most damning to her humanity, so she simply fell silent again.

There was enough to keep her occupied in the meantime, and she busied herself with sifting through the other abandoned items. Caroline, seemingly forgetting what they were here for, had already begun to take apart the radio transmitter. At least she looked like she was having fun.

This continued until Mark made a mention of something new to explore, at which point Mimsy dropped her useless attempt at scavenging; Caroline stuffed the now-silent radio into the satchel she'd brought and pulled her goggles on in preparation to brave the sandy terrain.

"You coming?" Caroline asked Lucky, beckoning for him to follow them. "We're a good team. If we stick together--can't be that bad."

Moments later, having traversed the sand, entered the cave, and wandered into some kind of chamber, she discovered that it could absolutely be that bad - and worse.

"Holy s**t," she coughed, pawing at her scarf until it completely covered her mouth and nose. As long as they were relatively fresh, corpses in almost any state didn't particularly bother her, but this was a horror show.

Mimsy tried not to look too excited.

"If you cannot tolerate an inventory of contents, I do not mind doing so alone." The offer was extended both to Lucky and her mother, but only the latter received a smile of pitying condescension. She didn't wait for any further discussion, assuming that they would join her if they chose to, and took one slow step after another as she made her way into the room. If her posture and the gentle, wide-eyed way that she was observing everything served as any indication, she was marveling at what she was seeing, hushed and awed--

"There's--we found a bunch of god damn people cut up in jars, Mark," Caroline blurted into the headset, ruining the mood for Mimsy entirely. She turned to Lucky, her unease apparent in her fidgeting. "Have you seen something like this before?"

The spell now broken, Mimsy faintly sighed and began to inspect the jars for any indication that they might contain someone familiar. A hand was trying its best to 'crawl' up one of her braids, but she left it there, unaffected by its presence.

"No, it's okay," said Mark over the microphone, which was surprisingly still quite clear now that they drastically improved it, "I really don't want to know. Just um, you know, tell me about the bakery store instead. And how Dwight is not in there because he doesn't like sweets- he's not in there is he!?" The DS beeping noise had stopped playing, Mark was serious.

The jars had nobody familiar in them, they were mostly just single items, such as one eye, one set of teeth, one severed ear, that would make black market organ trafficker cry at the waste. The eye in the jar continuously looked at Mimsy, rather erratically.

PRISON ROOM ]

Waving to the newcomer, Jason nodded to kai and started tying up some of the coats to make a makeshift bag...holder thing. It was just a bunch of coats tied by their sleeves. He hoped it would help the trainee though. "D-do you need me to carry it?" He asked.

All the talk about man eating bugs, face melting and mummies left the moon feeling rather sick to his stomach, and a lot less confident about going into the cave that had been discovered. Not that he was confident in the first place.

"A-a-any bugs here w-w-would be d-dangerous. Because f-famine. A-also mummies are bad." A pause. "N-no offense to a-any w-weapons." Because you never knew if a hunter had a mummy for a weapon.

Heading into the cave, he walked to the front of their little group, looking over his shoulder to do a mental head count. The place was filled with bugs, the large scorpions making him quiver in his boots, but he pressed onward towards the left as directed, summoning his weapon to provide a small amount of light. "S-stay close" He whispered.

In all honesty he had no idea where he was going. There was no marker to differentiate the winding corridors, and the light made it incredibly hard to see. So he was surprised when they stepped into a long corridor lined with prison cells.

"Mark! We found some prisoners" He whispered quietly, afraid he might disturb any horsemen nearby. "I can't confirm their condition, but they appear to be half awake. The doors are s-shut though. Is there a way we can open them?

Sherry was doing her best to keep an eye on things, that was probably how she found this particular staircase.

The smell hit her first. Decay. Death. Of course. Of ******** course. A room full of bodies. How would there not be bodies. Sherry stood on the bottom step for a moment fighting the urge to run back up. It was ok. She could do this. She wasn't even the only living hunter down here.

Two steps into the room, oh holy hell things were still moving. Not even whole people just parts.

Sherry closed her eyes and sighed. She could do this. She'd dealt with worse. Opening her eyes she glanced at the other hunters in the room before glancing around the room again, trying not too see the bodies. It's just dead people, just gross.

Sherry summoned her glaive to try and poke at a batch of the green moths. She they were just prettier to look at.

THE TUNNELS

Shu was glad that Mark finally decided to do something actually helpful. With the location marked on the Spectre watch, afte a while of walking, she arrived at the entrance of the cave as well. She picked a pair of googles from the boxes some hunters carried over and dropped there, muttering a quick "thank you".

The insects rested on the side of the cave and filled the dark cave was a shocking sight. Still they were better than Mark's minions. Put on the googles, and used her scarf to wrap up most of her face, she braved into it with other hunters, one by one, but gradually lost them due to the awful visibility.

She descended along the stairs, wind whipped aginst her as if she wasn't welcomed. At the beginning, she could hear multiple footsteps in front and behind her but those slowly disappear as she went further down. Shu just had a belief of keep on going. Dwight was someone who she would never cease to express her gratitude to. With his assistance, her brother could live long. That hope was crucial to the petite Asian, as the last family existed.

When she was absorbed in the memories of her past, she didn't notice how deep she walked. The dim light from her weapon allowed her barely make out a path. Shu didn't want to miss any clue to find the man, thus she took a deep breathe and stepped in. Her body twitched in reaction when so many insects crawled away under the commontion she created. Oddly, they were like fireflies which glew in the dark.

The petite Asian raised her weapon to lit up the path onwards to no avail. She could only see a collection of newtwork-like paths and the wind carried the smell over from the deeper part of the maze. It smelt like everything released into the air after being sealed for million years. It made her winced like accidentally sniffed a rotten fish. Such mystery gave her goosebumps all over her body and sent a chill down her spine.

All her instincts for survival had warned her, but what if Dwight was there, waiting them for rescue? Shu really can't allow herself to gamble and neglect that. A voice greeting her incessantly broke her chains of thought all of a sudden.

"Mr. Dwight?" She asked. "Are you there?" Then walked forward into the maze.

[ ROLL a 3: THE TUNNELS]
The stairs seem to never end, the only intersections in between large dark rooms that are nearly unidentifiable. They are tiny, and stepping into them yields hundreds, thousands of insects that crawl all directions. The insects glow in the dark, leaving a trail into deeper tunnels. Following them leads into a maze-like network that anyone can easily get lost in. There is a horrific smell coming from deep within the maze and then a strange clicking noise. All your senses tell you not to go further ], and you faintly hear someone saying "hello" in the distance over and over.

THE ORCHARD (2)

"Six years, Gale. Six. Years." She felt a hot stinging at the edge of her eyes, the beginning of tears forming from some combination of the harsh light and catharsis. She was surprising even herself with how much pent-up rage the encounter was bringing out in her. She'd thought about it a lot. What she'd say, or do, if she had had the chance to see him again. This was turning out like exactly none of those scenarios. "I thought you were dead. Everything was falling apart. I could see those things - the same things I know you saw - the same things that got you sent away, and left me alone. And you're asking me why I got out of there the first chance I got?"

She looked like she wanted to say so much more, but couldn't even formulate the words. Tempest looked away for a moment, took a deep breath, and sighed.

"No. I'm not having this conversation with you in the middle of a godforsaken desert." People were starting to crowd around something, which from the distance looked like some sort of cave. Tempest pulled the goggles over her eyes and glanced in the direction of the commotion. "We'll talk about this later. After we get back."

Tempest had evidently never been to the Sahara before.

"Let's go see what they found." She made as if she was about to walk past him, but doubled back to give him a quick hug. "I'm... glad you're okay."

At the cave entrance, Tempest didn't even hesitate to walk inside, careful not to scatter the strange-looking bugs. There were so many winding paths, and so few people sticking together, that it was easy to get separated from the others and end up alone in a cavern filled with trees that seemed to pulse and beat like organs.

Tempest tapped her microphone button. "Sir, I found some kind of garden, but no sign of any missing persons yet. The trees here look like they're... moving, or breathing."

Kai took a coat and tied the arms of the coat about his shoulders as a backpack and left one out for Jason. "Nah, I'm good. You lead the way."

Following Jason in, he thought he had been right behind him. Spelunking wasn't something he ever did, believing only insane people with too much time and money did those sort of crazy things. Inventing ways to waste money or risk their necks. Blinking in the dark, he held his hand out against the walls for a time until something crawled across his knuckles and he jerked them away, swearing as he shook his hand and wiped them on his pants.

"Nasty." He called out, and noticed that the sound of footsteps wasn't there.

"Jason?" He asked and reached out into the open space to find no one close by. Moving forward, he could only make out the faint gray his eyes managed to sense as walls and kept moving but heard nothing.

"Damnit. Hey! Where the hell you at?!" He called out and only head the skittering of bugs around him.

"Ah nah. I ain't being that guy who gets lost in The Mummy to get eaten." He moved on, turning and kept going before he heard the faint call of "hello" further off.

So he called back. "Jason, dat you?! I'm here man!" He picked up his pace, the pack of water bottles sloshing against his back.

PRISON ROOM ]

Well it was time to head in, and waiting out here wasn't doing them much good. It was better that she had found Ace, at least now she wasn't AS bitchy. The bugs were still biting like mad, and as Ace had suggested she covered what she could of herself to keep the insane insects at bay. They were so much worse than the ones they had faced before, likely because, as Ace and she had both concluded, they were in Famine land now.

"These ones are not taking chunks out of me at least, and it isn't a burning sensation so no venom seems to be taking effect." She glared down at one of the large bugs and whacked it hard until it kind of popped. "Ewww..." With a flinging gesture she sent the corpse flying away.

She peered into the tunnel, took a breath and gestured for Ace to follow. "If you are expecting anyone else leave a mark or something for them to follow and let's head in. We don't want to fall behind if a fellow hunter needs us."

Her walking took them into the Prison area where another hunter seemed to be radioing in about something, and it didn't take her long to notice what. "s**t.. Ace.. are those hunters?" She moved fast but carefully toward the cells and peered in, straining to see what was going on in there.

"Are any of you awake?" She asked softly, before glancing at the other hunter in the room, noting that he was speaking to Mark already. She frisked her hands over her body seeking something sharp or pointy to try and jimmy the locks on the cells. "Ace you have some kind of pin on you?"

Cursing under her breath she glared around the room more. There had to be SOMETHING they could do.

[ PRISON ROOM ]

He grabbed a pair of goggles from the box, finally his eyes were free of torment. The four of them, Jason, Kai, Kimberly and himself entered the cave as a group, with Jason leading at the front. "At least they're not aggressive," Ace added to the conversation.

Spelunking was kinda exciting in his opinion, and Jason was experienced. The chat about the horsemen with Jason kicked in, and he remembered the hunter had dealt with situations like this. He had Catherine summoned to assist in their descending though the haunt seemed to be digusted by the place. The tall Sun hunter didn't mind the insects at all, he let a scorpion climbed onto his gloved hand and observed a while before putting it back onto the wall. Docile, he would call it.

Soon, they reached a landing and along the corridor, there were rooms with shackled prisoners inside. One, two, and including himself, there were three people. Where's Jason's friend? He gave Kimberly a shrug, Jason was seeking advise from Mark while Kimberly tried to talk to them.

"Pin? Nope and no need." Said the hunter laid-back with the scythe's shaft on his hand. He drew his weapon backwards and slashed at one of the doors swiftly, hoping to cut it open. If those were metal-made, Catherine's blade would be sharp enough to slice through.

"By the way, I guess we lost your friend, Jason."

"Jason right? Look for a key - I dunno - like any key hanging around. If not try your weapon I mean you do have one of those right." Now was not the time to get sarcastic, Mark. "What do the prisoners look like - are any of them called Dwight?"

The prisoners themselves were oddly all of the same person, a dark-haired girl that looked like it may have had some vague family resemblance to Dwight.

The moths scattered immediately at her touch, some of them scurrying to other lamp fixtures. They released a strange gas with a soft hiss, something that was increasingly making Sherry feel tired.

"Mr. Dwight, are you there?", echoed a voice in the tunnels, but only once, and it didn't sound like Ace's voice at all.

Meegane

"Okay whomever you are," Mark began, "Do not touch anything. Seriously no touching of the fruits. They'll probably give you an infection like so bad you'll, like, vomit blood nonstop for a week as a minor symptom." He paused. "Don't eat them either."

The flowers in the center tree were budding, each slowly turning into a very, very large fruit shaped hilariously, quite similar to a grapefruit.

"You're nasty," a voice called out to Kai deep within the tunnel, before devolving into maddening laughter. "Nasty, nasty child. Nasty child eats Jason lost Jason mummy there."

[Prison]

Terry got the goggles and hefted the box towards the cave entrances for the others to take one. His own was already on his head and while his survival instincts were telling him he was probably safest waiting outside in spite of the desert heat, peer pressure was compelling him to go in.

He wasn't sure what to expect but the whole prison thing was not it. His face froze in his usual blank calm but on the inside he was definitely definitely freaking the ******** out.

Trying not to scream as the others examined the prisoners, the oddly identical prisoners, their lack of a response had Terry wondering, "How many prisoners do you see? And is it just me or the lighting? They seem similar to each other."

Sherry blinked as the moths fluttered away. Oh, that was an odd defense mechanism for moths to have. "Be careful," she said into the headset for anyone listening, "The bugs have are weird here. Pretty sure the moths are gassy. Probably best not to poke them"

Then she yawned and rubbed at her eye. Maybe she should have gotten more sleep before this whole thing. Then she turned to try and examine some of the fresher corpses nearby, for any sign that they might have been a hunter. She was really just poking at them with her weapon, though. At least, she was, before she paused and wondered if it would be alright to sit down. She was very, very tired.
