Jordan Miller - 25/25 - asking a question

There was someone pointing at Jordan and Temperance, someone blond who looked vaguely familiar and rather fancy in a way that suggested that the party's dress code had imposed itself. Jordan couldn't quite place who it was, but he raised a hand in a wave anyway.

To Ashton, he said, "I'm learning that about magic," a little ruefully, then quieted to listen as the cats spoke. What they said had him frowning thoughtfully, and the questions people were asking both helped and complicated matters.

He spoke up, directing a question to the cats. "Is the identity of the victim known? Or will it be decided on during the event?"

Nathaniel Parrish: 25 / 25 - with Lily talking to the cats

Oh.

Well, then.

It wasn't so much that Nathaniel was just simply easygoing. He was a scientist and a mathematician on his best days, devouring complicated formulas and discovering explanations for the most questionable of equations. But he also was aware that there were things that simply couldn't be explained by using a bunch of numbers or reasoning, and it was this, ironically, that he was the most interested in, because it couldn't be explained.

Or maybe he was just reliving his childhood dream of wishing Hogwarts was real after all, but that was beside the point.

"You're not weird," said Nathaniel reasonably, glancing at Lily's ears. "Wasps are weird. People who wear socks with sandals are weird. You're just..."

He considered for a moment.

"Curious. As is the rest of...well, whatever it is that's happening."

The corners of his lips quirked up into a small smile, but Nathaniel's attention was drawn to the cats once more, head tilted towards them. The idea of murder and mayhem certainly put a damper on what could have been a lovely party - especially considering how cryptic they were being.

Nathaniel frowned. He was still loosely holding onto Lily's hand, his other lifting to absently tap at the mask on his face.

"What purpose does the victim have?" he asked the cats. "Can we offer up something...uh, not...human? Instead?"

He wasn't sure whether or not it was a lame suggestion; he was new to this whole...bloodshed thing, after all, and it sounded particularly unpleasant.

connor hill- 25/25 - standing w/group around shun

He had to agree. This entire thing was messed up. Murder, sacrifice, god damn talking felines. Connor was already not a huge fan of cats, and these fluffy freaks weren't giving him any reason to start liking them now.

As Chel leaned slightly more towards him, Connor slipped an arm around her waist and gave her a light squeeze. He couldn't blame her for being nervous or uncomfortable. This situation was completely <********>.

"Sounds simple in theory, nobody wandering off, all sticking together, everyone watching each others backs...but you know it's probably not going to be that ******** easy, darling." He muttered, quietly, for Chel.

And then he fell into silence, as he waited for the question's that other people asked to be answered, as most of them mirrored his own thoughts.

connor hill - 25/25 - also squad

"Just being ******** realistic, sweetheart." He smiled, but it was tight, forced.

He really wished it just could have been a normal, fun party with too much booze, and maybe a regret or two or ten. That would have been acceptable.

Alexis Tucker / 25/25 / Talking to Autumn
"Are you sure about that," Alexis questioned, still in a close simalcrum of Autumn's voice -- then they cleared their throat, and everything was back to normal. "Nobody's died yet, what's the big deal? I'm actually gonna see what these drinks are made out of." They were uncomfortable in the outfit, that was clear, even with it being quite lovely. "Want me t'steal you one?"

Diana Vyn, Talking To Chester Poole

"Thank you for bringing me along, Chester. I'm not too sure about anything going on here, but I am excited to get the chance to experience this all with you.," Diana started, placing a gentle hand on Chester's arm. It had been odd circumstances that had gotten her to this point, but she was pleased nonetheless. Chester was a kind boy and she would do her best to be the best plus one for him.

"Shall we look for anyone else around we may know? Maybe go see if they have food or anything?" she continued to say, brushing her hands over her dress. It had been sort of a costume dress she'd found at work, but she had tried her best to fix it up and make it look presentable.

"I would appreciate if, in the future, we didn't call a planned murder a shindig," Autumn replied, smile falling as she regarded Vega. "But otherwise, yeah. Sticking together sounds like as good of an idea as any to me. No way in ******** am I playing horror movie rules and splitting up. Nuh-uh." It hadn't failed her on the first trip, and it wouldn't fail her this time. No separating, no dying. Especially if she got cornered somewhere in this stupidly heavy ballgown.

"And jesus christ, Alexis, do you hear yourself? Yet. Like you're waiting for it." Autumn pinched thr bridge of her nose, and tried to breathe out as slowly as she could. She wasn't going to freak out. Nope. If s**t went bad like at Blackfriars, they were going to need a healer who, you know. Didn't get her s**t ripped apart by a ******** werewolverine.

"...Yeah. I'll take a drink." Lord knew she was probably gonna need it.

Rabbit Vaughn: 25/25, talking to Hux

His only regret was that he hadn't had time to quit his dead end job prior to the arrival of the summons. To be honest though, it might have been for the best. It was hard enough to find an apartment on a receptionist's salary. Finding one with no salary at all would be next to impossible. Rabbit strolled across the cool marble floor, all confidence for the time being, and bowed before the cats with a toothsome little smile. Everyone else was doing it, and he didn't want to stand out more than he already did. He turned to examine the crowd, making it to Hux's side in a diaphanous swirl of gold and green just as the cats made their announcement.

"Good to see you, man," he said in a lull between visitor questions, his voice low. "I feel like the whole town's here, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised you are too." He grinned. "How're your niece and nephew and stuff? And this murder thing? Crazy, right?" He spoke quickly, as if small talk was the Thing To Do, but his attention was everywhere else. To say he was curious to see what this night would bring was the understatement of the century.

Hux Keighley ┈ 25/25 ┈ talking to Rabbit

Upon the crowd's initial beckoning, Hux had found himself at the edge of the bulk; soft smile never quite leaving his lips as he listened to the exchange between human and non.

When Rabbit approached, Hux offered the other a reciprocated grin. "Hey, man. You look good." He said, eyes doing a quick up-down of his appearance before he focused back on Rabbit's concerned countenance. "They're doing as alright as they can be, considering..." He glanced at the rest of the crowd, doing his best to read the emotions hiding beneath their masks.

"Yeah," he said, off-handedly, when murder was mentioned. "and blood." Rabbit knew already of his piss poor response to the fluid.

He looked back at the cats, indicating them with a brief, pointed glance. "Those things are pretty freaky, too. And, uh, y'know, all the other things passing through those gates. Are we supposed to wanna go in there or something? 'cause I'm not really feeling it."

Alexis Tucker / 25/25 / Stealing some drinks

"Look at this ********' place, Autumn," Alexis explained patiently, like Autumn was a very small child. "Someone's goin' to get murdered -- hopefully not us -- and I think it'll be a lot easier on you and me if we're drunk as ********." They ghosted off into the throng of partygoers who had already been there -- some of them had tentacles, how did you drink with those -- and snatched a drink or two out of the hands of people who were otherwise occupied.

Surely this would have no negative repercussions. People stole things at balls all the time, right?

Al Gladstone ┈ 25/25 ┈ standing @ the back of the crowd

The rest of the night's attendees had moved forward but Al stayed purposefully back. He crossed his arms over his wide chest and frowned as he listened to the cats' words. He wasn't too surprised to hear that the evening wasn't going to go as expected. The otherside didn't seem like the type to just enjoy a bit of dancing and dining.

Susan Greer ┈ 25/25 ┈ standing @ the front, mumbling to herself

Susan, on the other hand, had pressed forward- eager to hear whatever message it was the cats had to impart. Once their initial speech had ended, she found herself frowning. The choker around her neck seemed suddenly a bit too tight and she moved to loosen it. "What the hell did I walk into..." And was it too late for her to go back?

Shun Kuroda 25/25 | Standing near gates with people and talking to Chel

Shun raised his brow at Chel. It was a good question; he had seriously considered bringing a sidearm. However... practical weapons ironically weren't really... completely practical on the other side. Not with magic involved. Instead, he had opted to bring a small blade. It had a little more utility.

"I did not. I would not doubt there is something around here that would be able to force me to shoot myself in the head... or someone else, if it came down to it," he muttered under his breath, leaving Connor to answer the next thing that came out of Chel's mouth.

Tapping his fingers against his arm, he looked around the crowd, listening to the questions they had for the cats.

Chester Poole: 25/25, talking to Diana

"Not a problem," he said, brightening a bit when he saw he wasn't the most ridiculously dressed person here. These clothes were far... tighter than anything he would have chosen for himself, but his chest was covered at the very least. "If we don't die, it'll be a fun story to tell." He swallowed. "Not to be morbid or anything." There were cats making important announcements about murders. Surely he wasn't speaking out of turn.

"I'm going to say no to the food, only because I think it might be storybook food that doesn't let us leave once we've eaten it. But we can look around, sure. Find some people we know." Chester smiled. He had somehow managed to use the word 'we' unironically, even though he didn't have any friends.
