He stepped out of the fire and before he had time to take stock of the situation, he heard the flurry of wings launch at him. "What the f-" He caught a bird's attack on his forearm, feeling claws rake across his arm, and shoved it back. A quick glance around showed him where the hotel was, and he made his way toward it, swinging his sword up to retaliate. Quote: Alright Cas Money. Let's do dis. 50 HP

His sword-swinging was rewarded with a squawk as birds scattered away from the bite of the blade. Cas pulled the weapon back to his side and broke into a run toward the hotel. He'd be able to think there, take a moment, reassess.

...in the vast, interminable whiteness of snow. Beth blinked and looked around, trying to take stock of everything. She thought she saw something familiar in the lodge, in a half broken, half trampled sign. Had she been here before? Or was this one of the many places her parents had wanted to go but didn't make the time for? Maybe if she had another second to place it-- But the birds, the damn birds they were fighting in the first place took advantage of her distractedness. She felt the rake of claws at her hairline, which made her jerk and cry out, instinctively raising her hands. Yekaterin Wellp, Beth, that's what you get for not being prepared. HP: 45/47

Get to the hotel. She could manage that, even with the eagle...things trying to stop her. "Get...off of me!" Beth yelled, flailing her arms around, trying to get her whip to act as it was intended, and not as a hazard to herself. She dove for the person who gave her the directions. "Hey there!" She kept an eye out in case more birds decided to try their luck. "Maybe we should...escape?" She gently pulled them out, giving them her left arm to shelter under or use as a support. "Okay, here we go!" She whipped out with her other arm, trying to deter the birds from attacking them, hoping neither they nor her rescued companion could see how unpracticed the swings were. Her frantic movements were more or less successful. She managed to keep them at bay long enough for the pair to lope through the snow and make it to the threshold of the besieged hotel. Yekaterin Let's try that again. HP: 45/47 Escaped to the hotel

It was like something out of a horror movie. The resort was trashed and mostly abandoned. He could hear someone screaming in the distance.
Adrenaline kicked in. Training kicked in. He reached for his sidearm but was met with strung wood and so hefted his bow. As it turned out, it was much harder to draw back in a fur coat. He huffed, his breath puffing out before him, and sent an arrow toward one of the birds. He missed. So, rather than waste his arrow, he ran forth, plucked it from the snow, and felt a bird tear down and rake its claws against his cheek.
He nocked the arrow again and drew back.

Thank god or... the gods for physical training! This snow was rough, and he could think of a few fellow officers who would have struggled. He was struggling in a whole different way. It had been years since he'd drawn a bow, and he found a lash at his arm again and he wheeled to retaliate.

Forget it! He had run into oncoming bullets for the sake of his country and even for the sake of his community, a few birds weren't going to stop him! He turned toward the hotel, where others had escaped before him, and began to run. He felt claws tearing at his flesh.

It had hurt a bit, sure, but he was less ashamed to come in with a couple new scratches than to keep misfiring. Besides, there were people here. They needed the help of the recruits more than the recruits themselves did. Civilians didn't have the protection of gods, so he took an arrow in his hand, slashed at an oncoming bird, then ducked and literally slid into the hotel.

Briiva had no time to look at her surroundings, as she was instantly swarmed by the birds. "Goddamm- get OFF ME!" Briiva did her best to make a break for it.

Running was doing precious little to escape, Briiva already had a few scrapes and cuts. Particularly frustrating was how useless she felt her bow was in the situation. "You know guys, I'm sure there are much tastier snaks here in the alp- OW! cut that out!" She hurled a chunk of snow toward the bulk, then watched it fall apart as it hit a nearby tree, a grin growing on her face. "Alright beasties, follow me!" Briiva ran through the snow, stringing her bow as best as she could.

Briiva grunted, brushing off one of the birds attacks before jumping headfirst into a snow pack. She quickly turned and readied her bow, taking aiming as quickly as she could. She loosed her bow and was rewarded with the hearty thunk as the arrow sank into the tree behind her, followed by an ungainly squack as the piled up snow fell from the limbs of the tree and down onto the birds. "Now, back to the matter at hand-"
