"It means some can and some can't. Don't take it to heart, cowboy," she called over her shoulder as she inspected the stairs. Having Connor here was...weird, and it made Temperance think of the last time they'd been together in a weird situation, when- She stopped herself, feeling her stomach lurch. Temperance didn't need to think about that, but her palms were already rubbing across her shorts, trying to clean off some invisible stain. Resolutely, she turned her eyes back to the cordoned off stairs.
Blocked with debris... and yet. She looked up, expecting a ruin of a ceiling to greet her, but it was fine. Frowning, she crossed over to the second set of stairs. The same. Once back into the main theater, she heard Lily and looked up. Swirling clouds greeted here.
"So, there's stairs up to the projector, but they've been artificially blocked off. And we have a rainy-day ceiling, and random things are torn and.. I just have a bad feeling about this. Is there an emergency exit anywhere?" She eyed the group one by one. "Connor, don't just sit ther-" Well, s**t.

Shun turned as he heard something off to the side. He saw several of the mannequins standing and staring at... something. He had to move to get a better view, and it was then that he saw two of the things grabbing onto the guy that showed up most recently.
"s**t... Let go of him!" he hissed, hurrying on over. By the time he managed to cross the theater, everything was done with and most of the mannequins had seated themselves once more.
"Oi. Are you okay? What the hell did you do?" he asked the man. He didn't see his foot yet. Or his face for that matter.

Juniper turned her attention back up to the ceiling at Lily's concern over the mural. When she looked back up, she also noted the clouds that seemed to be overtaking the stars. "It's like something out of Harry Potter." She said, picturing the Great Hall as it was described in the books. "God, I hope it doesn't do something weird and rain in here. I was just starting to dry out a bit." With how thing shad been going, she wouldn't be surprised if mother nature somehow was able to influence weather inside of the theatre. The woodland sounds were a soothing noise for Juniper considering she tended to do a lot of meditation and yoga in the park. It was Shun's yelling that caused her to jump and, in the process, drop the popcorn on the floor. She cursed both at herself and at the fact that the new guy seemed to be attacked by the mannequins. The whole thing didn't last long though and before Shun could get to him the mannequins had returned back to normal. "Hey! Is he alright?!" She questioned, unable to see what had happened as she moved to navigate herself out of the aisle, leaving her discarded popcorn on the floor in her haste to reach them.

They stand on either side of the screen, taller than any of the other mannequins. Their skin is ghastly pale, the ones that handled Connor. They are in fine business suits and stand motionless as the screen flickers. The forest fades away on the screen. It becomes the inside of the theatre and it is all of them on the screen. What plays is a replay of their actions, of their wandering around the area. Until it focuses on Connor as he sat down in one of the chairs. Then promptly kicked one of the mannequins in the back of the head. His voice echoed across the theatre. "Okay, I'm ready for whatever the ******** it is I'm here to be shown."The mannequin who's head was kicked was at an awkward angle on the screen and that was the focus as the screen fade. It was still like that in the aisle in front of Connor. That popcorn, now abandoned, promptly disappears. Juniper will go hungry now.

There is, as often happens in Connor's life, a moment when he wonders why. Why did he do or say that thing that ultimately landed him in a deep pile of s**t? Why couldn't he just keep his mouth shut, or keep his hands (or in this case, his feet) to himself? Why, when he had not a ******** clue what was going on, didn't he err on the side of caution, on wariness, on careful decision making? This was very much one of those moments. There was time for a startled sound of exclamation as hands wound around the top of his head and pressed against his eyes. The foot that was captured kicked, rather uselessly, against a vice like grip. He grunted, he pulled, he fought to escape. When he was released, he jolted forward in his seat as his foot clunked with an odd sound to the floor. Everything was dark. "Please, please tell me somebody just turned the ******** lights out." He said, rather steadily, struggling for a moment to blink or otherwise open that which was no longer even there to blink or open. For that split second, there was no panic, just forced even breathing, as people began to approach, startling him with their closeness. "I didn't do a ******** thing. I sat down, I put my feet up. Seriously though, I can't ******** see, what the hell is going on?"
Steady. Cool. No need to panic.
Yet. ((I'll respond to the new prompt in my next post))

Juniper tripped over the rope in her haste to get out of the aisle. She managed to land, bracing herself on hands and knees. Scrambling to her feet, she caught sight of the screen which had now changed and featured...them. Then it focused in on the new guy and what he had done to the poor mannequin. Now, normally Juniper tried not to be judgey, but what she just saw happen, and she compared the image with the mannequin that sat in front of him, made her judge the guy hard. "Well, I can't say he didn't deserve to be attacked by them. I'd have turned around and hit him if he kicked me in the back of the head like that." She said loudly, not caring if he or anyone else heard her. "And I dropped my popcorn too." She huffed. In fact, she was so unimpressed with the guys actions that she rolled her eyes and instead turned her focus onto something else. So, Juniper turned her attention back to the screen and in part the stage. Curiously she walked right past Shun and the new guy and looked around for a way to get up onto the stage. She was curious if she'd notice anything different in the theatre when viewing it from the stage.

Theo had vaguely heard someone mouthing off, but the world was filled with people who flapped their lips without thinking, a lot of whom found their way to his two places of employment each and every day. As long as he wasn't the one who got punished for their bitching, then... eh.
Whoever was making this particular ruckus was alllll the way across the audience too. So. Double eh.
Theo was squinting at the screen, trying to make out anything that might have clued him in to what was so important about a forest, when the picture went dark and the theater he was currently standing in showed up on the screen. There he was, looking bedraggled and damp, tapping at a mannequin and backing up again like it'd licked his finger. And there was the loudmouth, full on kicking one in the back of the head. Theo took his time making his way over to the group, muttering, "Agreed," on his way in response to Juniper's comment.
When he got there, he kind of hoped no one had heard. Theo winced, his stomach dropping with an equal mix of fear and disgust.
The guy had no eyes. That was ******** disgusting. He didn't know what to say. Not that he would have said it even if he had.

The heads of the two mannequins on the stage turned towards Juniper. A hand is raised, a finger shakes slowly back and forth. No.

And now he saw the man's face. Shun was taken aback by that sight, not expecting that. He just stared for a moment or so. Understandably, the man seemed rather alarmed with his circumstances. Before he said anything, the shift in imagery on the screen caught his attention.
The detective looked over briefly, furrowing his brow as he saw the moments that had transpired just before... this. Well that explained the retaliation from the mannequins.
"From what I can tell, you kicked a mannequin in the back of the head, and now your eyes are...gone," he stated bluntly.

Sometimes, Temperance's long legs worked in her favor. When she was focused enough, she could sprint quickly without falling over. She put a hand on Connor's shoulder. "Hey, Connor, sudden anophthalmia, possible overgrowth instead. Don't panic - it's dangerous here. Ok I'm going to put my hands on your face. I need you to try to roll your eyes for me, Connor." She placed a palm across where his eyes would normally be and pressed down lightly. This would help determine if he had eyes that were overgrown by skin or if they'd taken them. Everyone else seemed to be riveted to the screen, so she turned briefly to look. "No one deserves that," she snapped at Juniper. What a vile, disgusting thing to say. "And I'm sure your popcorn is the most important thing here." She saw what Connor had done though, and leaned forward towards the crooked mannequin. "Hold still, cowboy; I'm right here." She took her hands away from Connor. Reaching out, she placed her hands on the sides of the mannequin's head. God, but it was damn tempting to twist it right the ******** off. How dare they. Her teeth clenched, but she tried to tilt it back into normal position. "Shh, Charlie 2, just trying to help, trying to get your straight on."

When her hands touched his face, Temperance's thumbs would find that where Connor's eye should be nothing could be felt. It was smooth, warm plastic where they should have been instead. A feeling would come over her the moment her hands laid on the mannequin. Awareness. Fear. All of the mannequins simultaneously turned towards her once more, the sensation of eyes on skin heavy. Hands raised. Fingers shook back and forth. No.The broken head of the mannequin was still cocked at a broken angle.

She dropped her hands. Almost immediately her hand came back up, imitating the mannequins' finger waggling. "Don't you uh-" finger waggle. "-uh-" another. "uh- at me. I was trying to help, but you've turned all creepy and unhelpful." Fine. The mannequin could have his ******** broken head and stay that way. If it was human, it would require a different level of care, but Temperance had thought a bit of shoving would fix it just fine. Huffing, she turned back to Connor. "Can you feel this?" Slowly, she pressed her fingernail into his, uh, plastic-y feeling skin. For the moment, she would assume it was still flesh, but she wanted to test sensations. Prying it off, of course, was not a viable option. It was alarming, but as a nurse, she could not allow herself to be alarmed. ashdown whaler fine mannequins be that way says temp

Temperance would, in fact, cause Connor pain by dragging the nail across the plastic of where his eyes once were. He would feel it as it was his own skin, fresh and sensitive, and she was scratching at it. The mannequins resumed their seated position but their disdain, their lack of trust was palpable upon her. The Semblance of Unity the feeling of disdain and lack of trust is only felt by temperance.

Juniper looked at the two mannequins as they clearly told her not to proceed with her plans to get on the stage. She stood there for a moment, debating on ignoring them when she head Temperance behind her. Juniper shrugged and turned back to walk back to them. "Look. If that had been a person he could have really hurt them. Plus, until this point, those mannequins haven't actually done anything to hurt us." She looked down at Conner at that point and blinked. "Jesus..." The skinned over eyes was...weird. Actually, to tell the truth, it was like something out of a horror movie. Alright. Maybe taking his eyes like that was a bit too far, but really, he brought it upon himself."Ooookkk. So. Don't mess with the mannequins. Got it." And at that moment she was happy that she hadn't pushed her luck with the mannequins on the stage. Glancing at the mannequin that has been kicked, Juniper decided to try something. "We're sorry for our friends actions. Could you maybe put him back to normal?" Being nice couldn't hurt, right?

Shun took note of the way the mannequins reacted to when the woman touched the one that had been kicked. He took a step back, looking around at the plastic beings that outnumbered them. It was hard to say for certain if the mannequins were the real danger in here, or if it was whatever had attacked some of them. Or if it was something else entirely altogether. No matter. He didn't trust them. But he wasn't going to go out of his way to lash out if he could help it. If they were able to remove eyes and the like, it meant these things were more powerful than they. Yeah, he really needed to find Heliodora sometime soon. "Yes. Avoid pissing off the mannequins further, please. We may have other problems in here."He began to look for alternative exits. Find a way out, then see if something can be done about the poor sap that had angered the mannequins.
