While the grunts seemed to discuss amongst themselves the most like horrifying discovery –judging by their expression, the truth about Lafayette was coming to light- the blonde’s focus was on Noah. The Dewott had been struggling against his captor for quite some time in an attempt to free himself and had almost achieved it. He was one little wiggle and a pull away from freeing one of his arms and the distraction to the grunts had given him the opportunity. All Lafayette needed to do was keep them distracted and the otter would free himself.
And hopefully slash someone in the face in the process…

”Murderer.” Lafayette blinked, his attention snapping back to the rather darkened expression of the lead grunt. His grin faded to what looked like an annoyed frown, an eyebrow quirking ever so slightly at the man.
"I ain’ no murdera’ mate." He replied simply, causing the scowl to become all the more pronounced on the plasma grunts face. The others around him seemed to share the sentiment of their leader, others squirming while a few looked just downright confused. The one holding onto Noah seemed to be of the middle group, glancing between Lafayette and his comrades, attention not quite on the less squirmy Noah who had sneakily freed an arm, waiting for just the right moment to go for one of his shells.
”To think scum such as yourself ever defiled our ranks!” The grunt hissed, fists clenching. Lafayette continued to frown, shifting and tilting his head in the other direction, his own expression growing dark.
"I was doin’ wha’ yeh yakkas failed ta’ do." Was the blonde’s response, earning himself another vicious glare. ”What you did was nothing Team Plasma would do! We seek to liberate pokemon from their manipulation by the hands of others.” The grunt’s gaze narrowed further. ”Nothing about what you did… was for liberation.”
This seemed to strike a chord with Lafayette. Quietly, he just stared the man down, before he took a sharp breath and gave a leery look. Whatever was running through his mind at that moment didn’t cross over to his face, which simply remained in a disinterested look. Finally he spoke.
"Tell me then mate… what’s more liberatin’ than death?"

- It seemed there would be no further exchange of words after that remarked. The atmosphere changed immediately concluding Lafayette’s admission. He didn’t care. Not once during his time in Plasma had the blonde questioned his take on the ideology. And even a year after ‘leaving’ because of them, he still didn’t see anything wrong with what he’d done.
After all, if there were any truth to the claim that pokemon were simply being brain washed into believing that they could not exist without their trainers, then there wasn’t much else to do on the liberation front than to permanently eliminate them. It was hard and harsh but… it worked. How many had he liberated? Quite a few.
He had no guilt.
The distraction had paid off in the meantime. Attention once more shifted as Noah snatched free one of his razor shells, slashing at his captor in a single upward strike. The grunt gave a sharp yell, immediately letting the Dewott go and allowing Noah to fall and scramble his way free of the group before any could act. Soon he was right back at Lafayette’s side, shell clutched in one hand other coming to grasp tightly to the side of his trainer’s leg. As opposed to continuing to be angered, the grunt just seemed disgusted by the action. Reaching for a pokeball he unleashed a pokemon if his own, for once not a Krokorok like the others had consistently sent out. A Druddingon actually. Now this would get interesting…

A battle between dragons was fit for the medieval setting. It was just too bad that the Druddigon didn’t stand much of a chance in the end. Confusion had been its downfall as well as Nova’s speedier reaction, causing the massive Unova-native pokemon to hit the ground without much injury to Dova. Lafayette watched quietly, giving the stunned grunt a look of disinterest.
It was nice not have to fight another of those Krokorok’s but if that was the strongest, the best they could offer –and Druddigon’s by nature were usually rather strong- than they would be looking to eat a lot of dirt in the next few moments. It didn’t take long for another grunt to step up into battle, trying to cover the lack luster battle of their leader’s dragon. This time it was a bug type, a Whirlipede. Annoying little menaces with poisoning issues to boot. The blonde didn’t hesitate to send out another of his own, letting Cheri take the field to handle the new comer. He had to suppress a bit of a smirk at the look of unease that once more appeared on the grunt’s face at the sight of the staring Espurr. Maybe that gaze was good for something after all…

The Whirlipede didn’t stand much of a chance against Cheri and it showed as the thing went down in a single blow. It did manage to do the very thing that Lafayette was concerned about though and that was to poison Cheri. It didn’t quite show on the Espurr’s face –what emotion did?- but the occasional twitch of her eye was all he needed as a tell for what she was suffering through.
The fact that they’d just poisoned a pokemon didn’t seem to stop the grunts though, yet another stepping forward and calling out a Liepard. In fact, the fact the continued their assault despite all their calling for liberation was quite… funny? Humorous? Down right stupidly hypocritical? It was something. Not hesitating, he decided to let Micah finally take the field to handle the cat pokemon. It was really about time they got a taste of what the most liberated of his team was capable of.

These jerks were out for blood it seemed. Their liberation intentions seemed solely focused on Lafayette at this point, barely seeming to recognize that there were other trainers in the area they could’ve well been focusing on. With the Liepard down yet another grunt stepped forward to strike, summoning out yet another Whirlipede.
Lafayette scowled. His team would eventually needed a moment to breath but would he get that chance? There wasn’t much of a delay in the actions of his old team it seemed. Maybe it was a bad thing they’d figured out who he was… still he'd just keep fighting. He didn't care; they wanted the challenge him? He was happy to face them down. Maybe he'd pay the sage a visit too once he'd whipped this lot.

That Whirlipede didn’t even stand a chance unlike the former one. The massive amount of wind that Dova had kicked up sent the creature spinning head over many tiny heels and it ended up punching itself in the face in the end. It was clear by their aggressive expressions that these grunts were starting to lose their patience. Only a few were still shouting and calling for liberation, those that seemed to recognize him for who he was falling into dead silence. Where they shocked by the strength of his pokemon? Disgusted that he was using them in the first place? It was kind of ironic really, given that they too were actively using pokemon like… well trainers would. Of course he was certain they had some doublethink reasoning for the pokemon in their own possession. That was how it worked with Plasma, he knew.
“I’ll handle this trash.” A grunt remarked from the back, stepping into clear view and calling forth a foul smelling creature. Lafayette’s face immediately scrunched up in disgust, a gloved hand flying up to cvover mouth and nose. The Gardobor towered considerably taller than himself, trash composed arms wiggly through the air as garbage dripped from them.
"Realleh mate…," Lafayette murmured to himself, gaze narrowing as Cheri once more took to the field despite her current condition. If the smell was effecting her, he couldn’t tell. But damn… that poker face.

The Garbodor collapsed into a heap as Cheri delivered her final blow. It was a good thing that whatever held the abomination together didn’t immediately fade upon its defeat, or else the fields would’ve stunk for quite some time from the trash and filth. Lafayette was still covering his face to shield his sense from the stench, his attention turned to a struggling Cheri. She’d taken quite a few blows and despite her stoic disposition and blank stare, he could tell she was hurting. It didn’t help that she was coated in sludge either; that had to be unpleasant. While he took in these issues, the blonde realized that there was a lull in activity, gaze returning to the grunts. For once they finally seemed to be reconsidering the situation… which wasn’t surprising really. He’d probably liberated most of their pokemon from consciousness where his own stood still ‘shackled’ to the confines of awareness. Without hesitation, he scooped Cheri up and under his arm; he’d find a way to wash that gunk off her as soon as these grunt jerks dispersed for good.

Lafayette scowled quickly reaching to try and find some potions in the midst of the downtime. He wanted to get his pokemon a quick heal though the poor Espurr was still poisoned and he had nothing for it, before yet another grunt stepped up to do battle. Did these fools never run out of pokemon? Actually, for liberators, they certainly owned a lot of pokemon. It was noteable and something to be questioned.
Even he hadn’t owned that many. Noah had been abandoned by his original trainer after all, nearly getting himself smooshed on the rail ways until Lafayette’s father and swooped him up and out of the way. Dova had just been a random occupant of the tunnels, much as most bat type pokemon were, but even then he’d never really claimed her as his own until after she’d evolved and become to massive a nuisance. And Micah? Well the Arcanine, formerly a Growlithe, had just been in the family the entire time. These were bonds, not forced slavery as Plasma liked to put it. These very bonds were the reason why he’d thought to join them in the first place; they’d seemed so convincing….
There wasn’t much time to think honestly. There was now a Ferrothorn looming in from of the group that needed to be handled and he still had a poisoned Cheri to tend too. Micah didn’t hesitate to jump into action though, flinging himself forward into battle so that Lafayette wouldn’t have to choose.

His pokemon were hurting. Lafayette saw the flinching as Micah finished off the Ferrorthorn in a single chomp. If there was any good point, it seemed that his pokemon had type advantages to most the ones they were calling forth. It wasn’t enough though; there was no break and his pokemon were twiddling down in their own strength. Maybe that was their plan? Tire his team and snatch them away? It would’ve been a good plan actually.
He didn’t quite have a chance to consider the ramifications of all this fighting as another challenge appeared. Noah seemed to be sensing his frustration, jumping in to battle without allowing Lafayette to protest. He could handle this ninja looking bug on his own. Noah didn’t really know what hit him. He was fairly certain that this ninja bug didn’t have the skills to take him and yet… that draining. So much draining. He hit the ground well before Micah even had a chance to intervene. Lafayette was on the scene in a heartbeat, glowering in rage now as he scooped up the poor fainted Noah as well. The grunt ‘tch’ed once more of Lafayette stood in the middle of the fray, noting the growing agitation on the man’s face. Much like Lafayette he seemed to understand his growing predicament. Noah was out and Cheri, Micah and Eve were hurt and could use some healing. That left only Ori and Dova at full strength to battle. Though that might’ve not been for much longer as yet another grunt summoned out a pokemon; another Garbodor that proceeded to smell up the place. He scowled against the smell again; there was no sending Cheri back in and so with a bit of a head jerk, he sent Dova out to handle it.

Dova whimpered as she darted her way behind Lafayette, rubbing vigorously at her face to try and rid her nostrils of the horrific stench of the fallen enemy. Good grief those things stunk! It hadn’t helped that it’d slammed the weight of its stench down on her like it didn’t matter. She’d been too stunned at times by the smell to even properly attack. It was terrible.
At this rate, things were turning rather grim. Now Dova was down considerably and Lafayette had a feeling that there would be no advantage for Ori to make use of, a point quickly proven as a Golurk of all things was sent out. Great, just great. He was about ready to get involved punching pokemon himself when Eve stepped up to take on the challenge. Apparently, she wasn’t quite down just yet…

Lafayette let out a breathy sigh, composure still stoic as he faced down the group of grunts. Eve had handled herself well, though it was probably just luck that she happened to know a move that did such powerful amount of damage on top of restoring some of her own strength. Still, that would only serve them for so much longer.
”You’re team is faltering. But really, is it any surprise?” The lead grunt commented, arms now folded over his chest as the other grunts shuffled behind him. It took a keen eye, but it was noticeable that they were shuffling the fainted pokemon out, exchanging them most likely for newer fresher ones. Which was absolutely unfair given the situation. But then again, Plasma wasn’t about fairness. They were about their mission.
”When you force pokemon to fight like that, it is only a matter of time before they fail. That is why humans and pokemon should be separate.” He stated in a sort of matter-of-fact tone, earning nothing more than a vicious glare. "Yeh jus’ gonna whinge an’ b***h like a dinkum whacke’, mate?" Was Lafayette’s remark, gaze narrowing as he took several steps forward. He saw the grunts tense up, some reaching for pokeballs in unconscious defense.
"Yeh don’ know nothin’ ‘bout me or meh pokies. Yeh so so deadset on ya principles…" Lafayette stopped in his advance, giving the lead grunt a sly grin. "Yeh just a drongo though. Everyone of yeh." For a moment it was nothing but tense staring between himself at the group. What... was he thinking?

Apollo only nodded when Cy gave a vague suggestion as to what to do at the tourney fields. Truth be told, he himself wasn't all too sure what exactly could be done there, he just didn't want to stay in the main entrance any longer. He hadn't been in the mood to see a play, and he wasn't hungry, so the tourney fields were their best bet for any sort of entertainment, at least in his mind. Upon arriving at the fields the musician looked around in mild interest, though he hadn't even seen everything the area had to offer when his attention was almost instantly drawn to a group of the oddly-dressed people, similar to the ones he'd seen back at the main entrance. He didn't think much of it, besides the fact that their costumes were a 'fashion don't', though his gaze did linger long enough to watch a battle between the group and a lone knight who seemed to be holding his own; very medieval, if he did say so himself.
Beau, in the meantime, had also taken notice of the gathering of Plasma grunts, though along with that he'd been made aware of the spark of irritation that resonated around Apollo's companion. It'd appeared when he and Kahn had rejoined their trainer, so it stood to reason that, for some reason, their presence had aggravated the dark-skinned male in some manner. It was... rather odd since, to his knowledge, neither he nor his companions had done anything to the man. He didn't give himself the chance to worry too long on that matter, however, and instead stared out at the plasma grunts as they continued to send pokemon after pokemon out to combat the lone trainer's pokemon. So this was a team effort, bullying and harassing trainers to try and 'liberate' their pokemon, and not just one person's unorthodox ideals?
"..Just as I thought." Apollo looked up and towards Beau as the mega spoke out, unintentionally physically broadcasting his musings. A mental sigh followed before Beau turned to face Apollo and Cy. "Apollo, I must confess something to you-- to you and Sylvia" the pokemon revealed, his fingers naturally lacing themselves together. "When I became separated from Sylvia it wasn't because I became lost, rather I took it upon myself to intervene a... 'liberation attempt' by a man dressed similarly to those individuals over there." Beau gestured back to the group before he continued on. "Essentially, it was nothing more than a mugging, they were trying to take a couple's pokemon-- which is what I believe is happening to that gentleman right now."
Apollo pursed his lips gently as he listened to his pokemon, his gaze naturally drifting back to the group of grunts and the blond they surrounded. "I didn't tell you this so that you'd feel obligated to help," Beau explained quickly. "I just thought I'd inform you." The musician nodded before he chuckled, unable to help but express some amusement despite the seriousness of the situation. "Geez, Beau. You say that, but you act as if I have any other choice but to help." The mega nodded slowly in understanding, "there's always a choice," he responded sagely. "You could simply ignore this and continue to enjoy yourself." The man shook his head, "not an option." Beau nodded once more before he moved to take Apollo's bag into his hand. "Very well. I've assessed your team's capability, and I believe it'd be wise for you to update their moves and give them the plates you earned before continuing on-- despite their appearance, a few of these men and women carry with them rather strong pokemon."
Without waiting to receive his trainer's permission Beau began to remove a few TM's and plates before distributing them throughout Apollo's team, even going as far as to call out Eris and switch her ball out for one he recognized as a GS Ball. Apollo shook his head before he slowly turned to look at Cy, his expression filled with determination. "I'm going to help that guy out," he explained, as if his entire conversation with Beau hadn't led up to this announcement. "You'll help out too, right?"
Kahn learned Thunder, he forgot Screech! Eris learned Blizzard, she forgot Quick Attack! Beau learned Energy Ball, he forgot Magical Leaf! Sylvia was given a Meadow Plate to hold! Eris' ball was swapped out for a GS Ball!
