Glub Glub"Honestly..." Jamie muttered as he made it back to the old tank, half full and already looking better than it had in years. Any aquarium preparing for life was better than one sitting empty and unused. It was a little sad he hadn't done anything about it without Shiloh's urging. "We'll have to let it adjust to the right temperature and it'll have to be treated... With this much water, I actually dunno if we'll be able to put any fish in it until... tomorrow, at least."
Swaying back and forth from foot to foot as he watched the water rise higher and higher at a slow but steady pace, Jamie bit his lip. "Maybe... I mean if you can... you could, um, speeend the night tonight and we could pick out a Glub Glub tomorrow..."

Glub Glub"T-Tomorrow...? Oh." Shiloh hadn't expected it to take that long, but Jamie was the fish expert here, so he wasn't about to question it. Besides, this was for Glubby the second, and if the first Glubby was anything to go by, she was basically going to be the next Queen Cleopatra in the ******** making, so there was probably going to be every precaution in the world and then some for this fish.
He opened his mouth, sentence on his tongue 'Oh that's fine, I'll come back tomorrow' when Jamie sprung the spending-the-night idea on him. He gave pause, looking at Jamie with a neutral [removed](whether that was for better or worst was up to the beholder). "Spend the night? Like..." he looked at Jamie's bed, and then pointed tactlessly "Like, the me-with-you-in-your-house kind of spend the night?"
Because really, when was the last time Shiloh had spent the night somewhere? Answer? Never, not with friends anyway.
"I mean sure, I'd be game." honestly, he had a spare change of clothes in his backpack for... midnight emergencies, so he was incidentally all prepared for this weird new adventure into friendship.

Glub Glub"Well... yeah you and me in my house..." What other kind of spending the night was there? Speaking strictly of the friendly variety, of course. "Sorry to, um, spring it last minute. I forgot to tell you before how long it would probably take..."
Good thing Jamie didn't have a chance to start doubting himself, Shiloh was too quick for that.
"Oh, um, really?" Eyes lighting up, he put the grin back on his worries had momentarily chased away. "That's great! We can... watch movies and stuff..." While Shiloh held the hose, he began to dig around for the heater, thermometer, and chemicals. Needless to say, his arms were full. "I'm so glad you talked me into doing this..." he muttered.

Glub GlubOf course it would be strictly friendly.
"Movies? You like em?" truth was, Jamie knew that Shiloh liked turtles and drawing and lots of other little things, but it was rare that Jamie spoke about himself and his own interests. His fish were an obvious one, yeah, but it was the only one he'd been able to pick up on so far.
"You got any favorites? Maybe we could watch those first." he swayed the hose, letting the water separate and splash around as he impatiently watched the water level rise. "And hey, don't mention it oka—Holy ********> that's a lot of stuff." Christ, Jamie was obsessed.
Not necessarily a bad thing, though.

Glub GlubToday alone Shiloh had been right about a lot of things, and one of them was this: Jamie was obsessed. Still, he had a reason for all the tools in his arms. With a small laugh, he set them down on a little table next to the tank. It was a folding table, and it hadn't been there before, but when Jamie managed to sneak it out of the closet and set it up was a goddamn mystery.
"Fish take a lot more work than people think," he told Shiloh, sounding sure of himself while he looked over his things and dove back into the cabinets for something else. "All this stuff is important if you want happy and healthy fish."
It felt like he was teaching Shiloh something, and maybe that was a little full of himself, but it felt kinda good to share his passions. It felt a lot like when he'd taught Mr. Watts about fish, too. As he rearranged everything he'd taken out, checking the chemicals and making sure he had all the ones he'd need, he shared a bit more about himself, too. Shiloh had been curious, after all, and Jamie couldn't deny he was happy for the simple question.
"I love movies, I have a ton..." A quick glance over at the tv stand was enough to tell anyone the cabinets nearby were completely full of dvds. "Oh, I know the perfect one! And then maybe we can pick one out together..."

Glub Glub"Oh yeah, I totally believe you." his tone was genuine. Few people knew the time and effort that went into caring for reptiles too, or hell, most animals. His lack of knowledge about fish was a thing he was readily able to admit to.
He did wonder about the table and all of the chemicals. Jamie was pretty efficient when it came to things he loved, huh? He wouldn't have guessed, because Jamie honestly didn't feel like the type to have a whole lot of energy. It wasn't that he was lethargic—he was so ******** jumpy—he'd just never seen him move so damn fast in his life. At least, move so damn fast for something that wasn't running or hiding in fear.
"Yeah? Which? Well, I probably wouldn't know it..." movies weren't a hobby of Shiloh's honestly. There weren't a lot of things in the world that could hold his attention. It was a miracle he could muster the focus to draw, days that he did. "You realize I'll probably be picking on cover art alone, right?" he laughed. It was a nice sound.

Glub Glub"Okay it's... kinda silly. It's, um, a Disney movie. Finding Nemo? Have you heard of it?" Looking sheepish, Jamie continued to fiddle with the chemicals despite having already organized everything. "I figured it would be kinda... y'know..." Gesturing to the tank, which was finally almost full, he reached for the right word. "... applicable."
Going quiet for a moment, he focused on the hose before running off without a word. In short order, the water was off, and Jamie was back at Shiloh's side, holding the other end of the hose, without missing a beat.
"You can put that in here," he said, offering a small plastic tub. "Oh, and um, I don't mind if you pick by box art... It can be fun that way."
Shiloh's laugh made Jamie laugh, too. It honestly was a nice sound, one that made Jamie feel a bit warm.

"Nope, never heard of it." Shiloh just didn't know movies. Disney was obviously a familiar name, but Shiloh liked their older works. The animation they implemented was so nice; it usually came back around to artistic direction for Shiloh. "But we can watch it."
He offered Jamie a small smile as he wrapped the hose back up, depositing it back into pandora's ******** box of fish supplies. "But first, real talk." he looked at Jamie, stone cold serious in his eyes, "Popcorn? Icees? We gonna run by 7/11 first? We're gonna need some snacks for this s**t."

Glub Glub"Real-?" Eyes fluttered from the cabinet to Shiloh's face, brows furrowing as soon as he saw how steeled his expression had become. In the two seconds between that look and when Shiloh spoke next, Jamie hadn't the time to worry or wonder or realize it was a joke until he delivered the punchline straight to his gut. That instant, his own expression blossomed into a smile.
"Well, duh," he responded, trying to sound as incredulous as possible. And then he laughed. "Of course we are. I want some peachy o's, too. And- And- And sno-caps!"

"P-Peachy o's?" Shiloh had obviously never heard of peachy o's and didn't seem all the sold on them yet either. He was willing, though.
"God we're gonna eat ourselves so sick." Shiloh laughed, lighthearted and excited. "It's gonna be great." Going to toe his shoes back on, he looked back over his shoulder at Jamie with a grin plastered on his face. Shiloh held his hand out.
"C'mon c'mon, we're wasting daylight."

Glub Glub"They're peach gummy rings, silly. They're delicious." Jamie had to assure him of that fact because it was absolutely unbelievable how incredulous Shiloh had sounded. "And everyone knooows gummies are the best candies to eat yourself sick on."
In the middle of pulling on his own shoes, he huffed. "Okay, okay! You're faster than me, hold on." With a hop-step he was clear and over there, grabbing Shiloh's hand like it was second nature, like it was simply how things were meant to be.
"Let's go!"
