The burst of initial speed proved finite as a sudden WHOMP overpowered the sound of the roaring engine, followed by a ker-putter-putter-putter, sounds that Ghouli was pretty certain racing pods weren't supposed to make.
Then again, she hadn't the faintest idea how pods were supposed to sound, good or bad. Conveniently enough, she had borrowed the neglected pod after noticing someone had left the keys in the ignition.

Berri cursed and jumped out to kick at her hunk of junk which had just skidded and slid into the dirt.
Except then it started moving on its own. While Berri was left in the dirt, literally, chasing after the damn thing. "GET BACK HERE!!!"

SOMEHOW Berri managed to throw herself onto the back end of her pod racer and clambered up into the driver's seat, hoping she'd be able to make a comeback.
