The banshee headed over to another box, and she knelt in front of it, looking at the lock carefully. It was a bit weird to her and she wasn't sure how to deal with it, but she was going to try.
This was where her previous class paid off. She fiddled a bit and the lock sprung open, it had been hard but she had found the right pressure.
Another chest, this one was really tiny. Keen looked at the tiny lock and wondered if the picks would fit. She was going to have to be really careful not to break anything.
The lock eased open and Keen found a little jeweled frog inside. This time the item made a bit of sense.
The banshee lifted a box out of some dirt and looked it over. The lock was built in, and seemed too delicate. She picked her smallest pick and wiggled it inside a bit.
Keen frowned down at the box. No matter how hard she tried the box was not going to open and after jabbing the lock with the pick a few times she decided to move on.
Twin boxes, Keen peered at them and started on the left one. Hopefully one more would do it. Once more the lessons from before paid off and she got the last item. It was a mini pet chew toy. Keen took the items to the teacher and offered him the book for Scarling sitting. It may have been good to read before the Rabbit incident.

The second year was totally unaware of the incoming pounce, at least until the last minute when furry red ears swiveled in the direction of fast approaching steps. Teal orbs peered over shoulder in time to widen as a blur of white tackled. "Ayeee!"A pop of electricity crackled through tails but luckily was absorbed into the bangles worn around them before shocking whomever had pounced them. For a moment Tavi was stunned and simply blinked down at the other kitsune before grinning widely and playfully asking as the tip of a tail swatted at nose, "whatcha think you doin? Heh."
Shiki was tiny for a boil in the academy but he had enough spunk for several, and as he hugged one of the tails he gave a little yipping sound of joy that of course sounded like a happy fennec. His large ears flipped around and he closed his silver eyes. "Doing...? Mmm... soft... warm..." He seemed in bliss and unaware of how intrusive he could be.
Shiki was a first year boil and he had few friends, okay maybe two at most and his foxfires one of whom was looking at him in dismay.
Kier was a little late for the class, not a surprise considering how she had been enjoying a rather long afternoon nap basking in the warm glow underneath a window. There were still signs of her nap such as the rather significant bedhead that stuck up on one side showing a resilient nature not to go flat again and the crumpled away her clothes stuck to her. There was of course the large yawn before receiving the lock picking tools from the professor and at the word of treasure her ears perked up.
Treasure was good yes? Stealth was good yes? Even better it was all things Kier felt she could at least somewhat excel in with her own skills. Cat’s where sneaky and most like shiny things, well if you sort of waved them around and dangled them.
Taking her kit she headed towards the first box, pulling out the right tools and biting her lower lip as she tried to wiggle them into the contraption waiting to hear the right noise.
Pop
The lock came undone as the lid bobbed up from being released, inside was a phony ruby and jeweled frog. The ruby was nice if you considered it as a paperweight but mostly Kier had little interest in them.

At some point, Ignatius would get at whatever was in this box.
That point was not this particular moment, as Ignatius continued to fail to open the box. Clearly, he did not understand how lockpicking worked, not even with beginning tools.
Easy does it, easy does it...Mahlan sloooooowly turned the L-pick while pushing the nubs with another pick, this time it's kinda r-shaped or something. Holding her breath when a faint *clack* sound finally heard and the hole can be turned easily, she finally managed to unlock a box! Inside of it was a small, green jeweled frog...which actually was quite cute. Can she keep this for later?

Pleased of her 'progress' in unlocking, Mahlan pocketed the frog ornament and moved on to the next box...wait what? "Teach, this is a dial-based lock, we can't open this with the lockpick tool???" She called, but the teacher seems busy with something else.
Well, then it's back to how lucky she was.
*few minutes later*
Fed up with the failed attempts, Mahlan tossed the box aside-she should've been done that sooner...stare

Arrakis was realising that persistence was the key to success, here. It probably did not actually increase his odds at all for him to try other boxes, so he'd at least keep trying whatever boxes he pulled out of the grass until he got them to open. Such a philosophy held true with his current box; it sprang open with a suddenness that made him jump a bit. Glancing around to see if anyone had seen--and hoping no one had--he cleared his throat softly and glanced inside. A jeweled frog and a ruby that was clearly fake. Well, they were shiny at least? He tucked them in with his other treasures and glanced over to see how Ignatius was faring. Arrakis figured he had to be getting close, but he didn't want to just leave Ignatius there if he continued to enjoy good fortune and Ignatius' didn't turn around.
Picking another nearby box, Mahlan looked at the key first...oh, this time it's easier...NOT.
It's one of those lock with square-ish key on it. Darned it, she can't use normal lockpicking method for this-so she piled it on with the padlock key one.
