      Hawthorn (pronounced H'AW-thoh'rn). Cool, calm and collected is Hawthorn's way. Unflappable and a perfect gentleman, Hawthorn thinks things through carefully, applies himself with dedication, and believes strongly in a job well-done. Precociously astute and well-read for his age, Hawthorn and his adopted-sibling Peony take care of each other.

        Positive Traits
          gaia_nitemareleft Thoughtful. Hawthorn pays attention to details, noticing patterns, and picking up on minute social cues. It enables him to adjust his bearing and mannerisms to not discomfit others. This comes across as thoughtful, but it stems from a compulsion for etiquette rather than a sympathetic leaning.
          gaia_nitemareleft Optimistic. Not the ra-ra optimist, Hawthorn's brand of optimism is quiet and steady. He believes strongly in his abilities to persevere, and this leads him to always see a light at the end of the tunnel, a silver lining.
          gaia_nitemareleft Observant. Highly astute, eager to understand, and rapacious for knowledge, Hawthorn is constantly alert, ready to absorb information like a sponge. It has caused him to be a precocious youth, identifying more with older individuals than his own age group.
          gaia_nitemareleft Supportive. Hawthorn has high standards for conduct and behaviour, but if someone shows an interest in learning or improving himself, he is encouraging and patient to help them get there.
          gaia_nitemareleft Practical. Always a facts-oriented Litch, Hawthorn is not one given to flights or fancy. He likes tangible things, proven things, tried things. He's not one for leaps of faith or wild experimentation. There must be just reason and attainable results.


        Negative Traits
          gaia_nitemareleft Reticent. Hawthorn keeps to himself, especially emotionally speaking. He does not put himself out to make friends, and is not expressive with anything beyond his thoughts on the matter at hand.
          gaia_nitemareleft Standoffish. Disliking germs, loud crowds, or strangers, Hawthorn is reluctant towards most social situations, including those of personal risk to himself, such as dating.
          gaia_nitemareleft Cavalier. Often preoccupied with his own focus or world view leaves Hawthorn often dismissive and aloof towards other people's needs, interests, or sensitivities. It usually a distancing measure through blunt words, rather than an intentional cruelty.
          gaia_nitemareleft Precocious. Always very keen and proper, Hawthorn was never really 'childlike' he always prided himself on his expansive vocabulary, and is a bit of a show-off when he's knowledgeable about something. He aims to impress.
          gaia_nitemareleft Aloof. Emotionally, Hawthorn is rather aloof, not feeling very deeply, and largely uninterested in exploring this mysterious side of himself. He resists deep connection with others, largely because he fears they will disappoint him.


        Enjoys
          gaia_nitemareleft Meditation. Hawthorn requires alone time each day to charge his social batteries, order his intentions for the day, and focus on his goals. He starts every morning with a half hour to full hour meditation session. This is sometimes combined with a yogic practise for exercise.
          gaia_nitemareleft Etiquette. Proper manners, good hygiene, social mores, and chivalry are all well and alive in Hawthorn's world view. Rather than a shining knight, he is concerned with good conduct and good 'breeding'. titles would mean nothing if not backed up by behaviour in his eyes. Respect is earned by decorum.
          gaia_nitemareleft Horticulture. Mostly in the focus of a small plot of edible (re: useful) plants, Hawthorn grows his own herbs and spices for baking and tea, and cooking. This includes marigolds, cornflowers, roses, basil, rosemary, thyme, lavender, mint, parsley, sage, and coriander.
          gaia_nitemareleft Baking. Hawthorn loves fastidiously following the instructions to bake. He's not creative in the kitchen, for he requires the rigmarole of recipes to follow, but he loves the challenge of complicated things. He finds using pre-made, ready-to-bake, or store-bought ingredients distasteful (re: cheating!) so when he makes something, he makes all of it, right down to the stock or filo pastry.
          gaia_nitemareleft Staying Up Late. Hawthorn functions at a high level, and part of this is that he gets by on very little sleep. He would feel more rested staying up reading an extra two hours, than if he 'wasted his time' sleeping his life away. Besides, late at night, the world is decorous, quiet, and stately. Much of the rabble has gone to bed, revealing the world at its most honest level. A perfect time to contemplate.
