The Worker looked long and hard at the woman as his fist connected, peering into her eyes as the sound of her arm snapping rang out in the underground. This place really was becoming one hell of a mess. A mixture of Acel's blood and his own was beginning to really accumulate on the ground. Now he just needed to add a couple more people to that list, and his job would be complete. After the punch had successfully landed, the sound of the scythe rattling to the floor was satisfying--knowing that he had managed to hurt her, truly. Sure, Akio might have slipped on some of the blood on the floor and managed to avoid being struck by the punch he had thrown--but that wasn't the end of the world! No, not by a long shot. For now, this was a good moment. He was landing hits on the pretty little lass, and soon she would go down too...hell, why was he bothering splitting up the abuse anymore? The man was dodging all of his attacks anyway. He had singled out Acel no problem, so now it was time to do it again. The woman was the first to respond, after being hit by his attack, she had switched her weapon to a sword--able to be wielded with only one hand instead of the two the scythe took. She kept her arm close--obviously broken--and she lunged forward, striking out toward the Worker's arm as well. She wanted recompense for her lost limb, he was sure.
The Worker grinned--a clarity coming through his mind now that the rage from Acel's annoyance had died down. He was being more careful, and calculating his strikes much better without the b*****d ruining everything. As the sword lunge came in, the Worker immediately brought his body crouching low, and swept it to the side like some sort of hiphop dance move, easily sliding beneath the lunge and sidestepping while crouched low to move himself away from the woman. It was then that Akio came flying in behind him, once more. His first attack was aimed toward his back, and the Worker knew it was coming, aware of the direction Akio had swept in from. The Worker immediately swung his leg up, bending his body forward and shooting the foot up to plant it into his chest, causing him to be pushed back, and the slash to be shaken before it could make it low enough to hit the Worker's body after bending low for the kick. The second attack, as the man spun and swung the blade toward the Worker's side, the Worker narrowed his eyes and lashed out with both of his hands, gripping the man's arms tightly and stopping the attack once again, before it could hit its mark. The blade shook with the resistance from the Worker, the tip nearly grazing the Worker's skin.
The Worker then immediately shoved into Akio to break the hold and move the man away from him, narrowly avoiding the second cut. He breathed heavily--the exhaustion starting to kick in, and the Worker knew he needed to put an end to it all. He grinned as he mock saluted toward Akio, turning to Sarah and launching himself toward her. Each step took him closer to the girl and he smirked as he jumped forward, throwing a flying knee toward Sarah's forehead. If he cracked her skull and knocked her out--great. Either way, the knee would at least cause a hell of a headache if it bounced off its target. If it landed low it could also do some heavy damage to that already busted nose of hers. Then, as he was flying toward her, throwing his knee, the second strike came simultaneously from behind, aiming a vicious punch toward the bottom of the woman's spine. It was time to take apart another human body.

Sarah gritted her teeth as she tried to ignore the dull pain coming from her broken arm, as well as the pain from her eye, as she had made her attack and missed the worker. He dodged it so easily, it didn't help her feel any better for herself. Unseen to her a bruise was blossoming under her right eye and slowly spreading to the bridge of her nose. She felt physical pain before, but this was something else. This time her opponent wanted her dead and that was different all together. The pain she got was either from someone just wanting to scare her into doing what he wanted or training to teach her that was failing and needed to try harder. So many different pains, she never knew them until he started it. She shook her head, pushing the memories away.
Don't think about him, he's not a part of this. He would never become a part of this. His world didn't involve any gore. Not this kind. But her world did, it started with her. Sarah watched Akio's attack miss, keeping a close eye on the worker as her thoughts swam. Her, she was doing it for her. She was apologizing. That's why she was fighting, she had to keep fighting, even if she wanted to curl up and cry. She took a few deep breathes through her mouth as she watched the worker gave Akio a salute that seemed to only be to make fun of him before turning to her.
Her eyes widened when she saw she would be his focus this time. Purely his focus. She almost whimpered. She had hoped that he would keep attacking the both of them. Nothing against Akio, but she wasn't sure how many more hits she could take from the worker at the moment and with him spreading his attacks between the both of them, it was less to try and avoid. She swallowed hard as she quickly moved out of the way of his knee, twisting her body in time to see the man's hand coming toward her lower torso. With a quick snap of her arm, the sword blocked the attack, slapping it up so it missed her.
She let out the breath she had held as she moved, feeling almost angry. He was going after her face again. Hadn't he had enough with that damn headbutt from before. Unless he was one of those psycho guys she had seen in those tv crime shows that destroyed beauty, or something like that. It was hard to follow the show when reading the subtitles and trying to watch the actors. You missed a lot when doing both. That was definitely something she didn't miss about being deaf. She lunged at the man again, raising her sword and bringing it down in a slashing motion across his chest. She couldn't do much now. She didn't have her other arm to help her balance or else she would have kicked him in the side of the head.
It was less than what he deserved but she couldn't bring herself to do anything more. Her stomach wouldn't be able to handle it. Not with him bleeding already out of every cut they had made on him. She was lucky she wasn't bleeding herself. At least she didn't think she was. She still didn't dare look at her arm in case she was bleeding. Seeing her own blood from a fight wasn't something that would calm her or make her any more angry. She knew that. It would only make her shudder and freeze where she was standing. It was one of the reasons her friend asked her if she was sure she wanted to be a part of the this world. She would show that she could do it. Maybe.

60 - 58 = 2 - 100 = 98 - 45 = 53% The Worker was mocking him now. Deliberately mocking him! If the encroaching migraine wasn’t enough, he didn’t need this kind of ******** headache given to him as well. It was bad enough that his pain killers were wearing off, and that Sarah was now majorly injured, but he was absolutely exhausted. This fight was lasting way too long, and the constant use of his energy was draining him, as well as everyone else in the battle. He saw it on the Worker’s face, and in Sarah’s movements. Every single one of them were absolutely exhausted. At least this night he wouldn’t have trouble sleeping. Even as the worker shoved into Akio, it felt significantly more weak than any attack that he had to deal with before from the man. Could have been his imagination, but it was more than likely due to depleted stamina. How long had they been in the fight? It couldn’t have been more than a few minutes, and yet he was already ready to welcome a good night's sleep.
Breathing heavily, Akio watched as the damned Worker then saluted him in mockery then went for a complete assault on Sarah. He knew that this was only being done to make him mad, to provoke him into an angry attack. With the small amount of energy and patience left, the Worker almost got what he wanted. Akio took a step forward, gripping his sword even harder than he did previously. The flurry of emotions that had been going through Akio through the day alone had been enough to drain him, and the anger only made it worse. And god damn it, did the man need a cigarette. Sure it had been, what, half an hour since his last one? But with all of this activity and stressed, there was no doubt he’d end up a chain smoker by the end of the day. Good lord, did he need help.
While Akio gripped his sword in anger, he was glad at least to see that Sarah managed to dodge the both attacks laid on her. It would have been unpleasant to see her hit in the face again, to say the very least. She could hold her own, but that didn’t make it any more comfortable for him to see. His nerves were shot, and he was tired. ‘End it soon… End it now.’ That was all he could hope for, so he made a snap decision to push harder, attacking with a greater amount of swiftness and strength, putting in about as much as he could. Yes, he was tired, but it was an absolute necessity that they both lived to tell the tale of their first mission.
Akio swung his sword with a great ferocity, stepping forward into the Worker’s space to throw him off, hopefully pushing him over in the process. He then took a step back, allowing for Sarah to do her attack as she slashed across the man’s chest. ‘How interesting… Another switch in weapons.’ Akio thought, taking the brief moment to distance himself enough for another of his own attacks. This time, he hacked at the side of the worker, slamming as much of the sword into the man’s side as he could possibly muster.

The woman was becoming a little bit of a headache, to be sure. As the Worker soared through the air, his knee outstretched and ready to clock her in the noggin, she managed to twist her body enough to swing out of the way of the flying knee. Then, as he sped himself up, shooting around her to strike her in the spine, the woman swung her sword up and knocked the strike up and to the side, enough so that it only grazed by her side, not doing any damage, but merely breezing by her clothing. He ground his teeth together--frustrated with the fact that he was being blocked out by this little...thing! It was then that she retaliated to the strike, waiting for them to enter a proper face-to-face stance before she lunged forward toward him and slashed at his chest. The man grumbled as the attack was thrown--less than impressed at the lack-lustre slash. It must have been the woman's first time being in such a long fight--or being so banged up--or watching the people she knew die horrible, gruesome deaths. The Worker laughed as he thought about all of those things and then as the sword came down, he had already pulled back. It slashed through thin air--even though it looked like the man hadn't even moved--the motion so quick that it was almost as if the blade had just passed right through him. However, as he was revelling in the ability to avoid the woman's attacks, the real problem stepped front and center.
Akio blasted inward--stepping forward into close quarters, and the worker wasn't ready for it. It scrambled to step back, out of the man's range, but he was already too close, and swinging the sword down as he moved, so the Worker had nowhere to go. The sword cleaved down across the Worker's chest and abdomen, opening up a savage wound in the man's torso. Now there were cuts on his front, back, neck, and face. He was starting to look like quite a piece of work. The Worker ground its teeth together once again, trying to bear his way through the pain, but Akio was not letting up and swung the sword down again, hacking at the Worker's side. The Worker was already dazed by the pain enveloping the front of his body, but as the sword plunged into the already wounded side, he shrieked out in pain, the scream bouncing off of the walls in the underground as he leaped away from Akio--trying to put distance between him and the electrified b*****d. The strength was sapped out of the Worker--he could barely even throw a punch anymore. The E-Trooper had the ability to crush the physical strength out of its enemies, and he knew that was exactly what Akio was doing...the b*****d. It would be the end of the Worker...but he had to survive. He could still do this--complete his mission...he just...had to survive. He narrowed his eyes as he looked back to the woman and he shook his head. It was time. One last attempt--if he couldn't kill the woman now, or at least hit her, he was out of there. He was leaving. He wouldn't wait for them to cut him to pieces. He had to run. He had to run. The man launched toward Sarah, throwing another punch at the woman, though he aimed for her gut this time, to try to take the wind out of her, and then if the strike hit, the second one would be an uppercut that hit her as she lurched forward from the punch to the stomach, and it would strike right in her damn face. The one that he had been targeting over and over to piss the man off. He was sure seeing the pretty girl punched in the face was not pleasing for the man. Then again...it took all kinds, right?

Sarah wasn't all surprised that her attack had missed. She wasn't sure if it was because of the pain she was in or because the battle had gone on as long as it had. She never had to fight for this long, not a serious fight anyways. She could train all day, that was easy. There was no one trying to take your life. But this was taxing on her physically, mentally and even emotionally. She could only try to move out of the way as Akio moved in for his attacks, both of them landing skillfully. She was glad at least he could do it.
She wasn't sure how much longer she could do this, she was so tired. She tried to keep a straight back, but it was hard. She watched as the worker came toward her, trying to move but she was too slow. The man's hand went into her stomach, forcefully pushing the wind out of her lungs. She gasped for the air she had lost, remembering that this wasn't his only move. He was still standing before her. She was his aim this round. She quickly twisted her body again, straining the now sore muscles in her torso that she could almost hear the screaming of pain from them as she dodged the uppercut, but barely, feeling the skin of the man's knuckles brushing her cheek. A twisted gentle brush of the cheek.
Sarah stumbled back, forcing her lungs to take in painful breathes as her lungs expanded, stretching the muscles. She didn't stand there for long, taking the air she could get in before lunging once again. She couldn't wait, he wouldn't. He was hell bent on getting on her no matter what, she couldn't stand around. She swung her sword horizontally, aiming for his mid-section.

Turn 15
42 - 60 = 1 - 100 = 99 - 45 = 54% Akio could tell that the Worker was on his last legs, barely managing to keep with his strikes as he attacked. While they all were absolutely exhausted, the Worker lagged and slowed unbelievably, no doubt due to whatever it was that the E-Trooper could do. The electricity was doing something to the Worker's body that Akio actually quite enjoyed. It was something he was still unused to seeing, but oh lord did it get him pumped.
Lightning still coated his blade, the metal sparking from the tip to the ground and backup again. Electricity hummed through his hand, the source of the power. No, that wasn’t quite right. It was the E-Trooper who did it, giving him the air he required to beat down this enemy. He relished in it, his panicked mind set to some small form of ease. While Akio wasn’t quite calm, he was able to focus at least a small amount on what was going on. When he was close to the Worker, stepping into his space, he couldn’t help but think about who this person was. Who they were before hand, and if they had a name. It didn’t matter to him, but there was something in him that was morbidly curious. He knew, though, that the information would only make it harder for him to kill this worker. This human. Even if the guy restlessly attacked them, knowing that they were living breathing humans as well.
Unfortunately, the Worker managed to dodge Sarah’s attack, but when Akio stepped in too close, the Worker faltered and Akio’s sword managed to slice open his chest. The wound was savage, leaking blood onto Akio’s front, and saturating the shirt that the Worker himself was wearing. Blood was everywhere, coating the floors and walls like a murder scene. And… Akio guessed that that’s exactly what it was. Acel was murdered here only a few moments before, and in a few moments the Worker was going to die as well. Everything was a mess, but it was something that they were going to have to get used to in their field. Not that Akio was happy about this fact in the least. The blood, the gore, the death. Maybe his father was right. Maybe the worker was right. Perhaps staying an engineer would have been the best place for him. Akio gritted his teeth. It was too late now, though. Akio couldn’t step back from being what he was, from fighting this miserable battle. He already was placed in the war, already passed the HALF. There was nothing he could do anymore but fight.
Both of Akio’s attacks hit the Worker, managing to slash the man open to near death. He hoped it was only going to take a few more hits for the man to go down, and they were finally able to go home. Well… As close as they could get to being home. But the Worker had other plans, choosing to fight until at least one of them went down, picking quite heavily on Sarah. He attacked her again, trying to land two blows on her, one to her gut, the other to her face. While the blow to the gut missed, Akio could see that the punch to the face hit her, though it was a somewhat weak attack. It was still an attack to a woman’s face, one who was already getting so beaten down, and it made Akio mad. There was only so much he could watch, so much that he could take of seeing someone get beaten down. Acel dying drew the line, the worker now venturing into something he didn’t know that he could manage anymore. A pure anger that he hadn’t felt in a long time. Even though he was already upset with the worker, this time his anger blocked out his hesitations, and even his panic.
Gritting his teeth, Akio attacked again, this time attacking with intent to kill. With a strong grip in both his hands, Akio swung, aiming once again for the jugular. He wanted it to be over, and hoped that this would be the last attack he ever had to do on this human. Or any human, for that matter. Then, he went for another attack, swinging his sword to make contact with the other side of his neck. This had gone on long enough, high time that it was put to an end. The man with no name had to die, and that was final.

He could hear his heart beat hammering in his ears. Faster and faster as the fight raged on. He thought he had time to kill the small little girl before the fight was over, but she proved far more durable than he had thought. Even when he had managed to land the strike to her gut, the b*****d woman was still able to twist at the last second so that the punch missed her face. His knuckles grazed her cheek, but just barely, almost a lover's touch more than a strike. She was able to easily dodge around his speed, even though she would barely be able to see him moving to set up the second attack. Had his strikes really become so slow and so weak with the damage that the other one was doing? When he saw the amount of damage that his last punch had done to the woman, it was disheartening. No longer were his strikes landing with savage ferocity. No...instead, when he hit her she was coming back from the pain in moments--almost not even phased by it. He was done for. The wound on his chest was bleeding already, but when she lunged forward, the sword caught him in the gut--not expecting her to counter-attack so quickly. The sword sliced horizontally across his stomach, opening up yet another wound. There was more blood on him than there was dry clothing, and the smell of copper filled his nostrils. The Worker almost laughed, but he knew that the other one would be coming from behind shortly after. If he attacked, too, and hit, then the Worker would be done for. He could not let this happen!
As the first attack came for his jugular, the Worker threw up one of his hands, balling it into a fist and slamming it into the side of the blade with everything he had, managing to pull all of the adrenaline and strength he had left in his body into the blow, and then immediately preparing and unleashing a second strike of the same nature to bat away the man's second attack toward his neck. He was breathing heavily, his sight blurring slightly as he stood there. He knew that he would die...this was almost the end for him--hell, soon he would bleed out even. But as he stumbled momentarily, his mind sharpened on his goal--kill the girl...if not...well, hell, he could at least maim her. A sick smile stretched over his lips as he ran toward her, his feet hitting the metal grates with slow thuds as he approached. He pulled back his hand and threw it forward, one finger outstretched in a horrible point--aiming for the girl's eye. She could move and avoid the eye-gouging damage, of course, but even to be hit by the finger would hurt, and it could likely pierce skin with the force it was thrown at. Immediately after his body would jolt to the side and he would slam his fist toward her rib cage, aiming to bust the ribs and reduce her mobility.

Sarah felt the sword hit it's mark, she kept her eyes averted, not wanting to watch the scene. The skin separating to the sharp blade, blood following soon after. She couldn't watch it, she would surely lose her self control of not throwing up, becoming completely useless to Akio. He would end up fighting on his own if she saw what happened. She tried to keep the worker in her line of sight without actually looking at him, but it was a challenge. A big one, because the scent of blood was really getting strong. She didn't notice it as much with Acel, but for some reason, it was stronger than before with the worker. Maybe it was from multiple sources instead of one this time.
Sarah realized how bad of a mistake it was to not look at the worker directly. She saw him lunge for her, but it was too late, her turned her head, but the man's finger still struck her, barely missing her eye. The man's finger tore at the skin, leaving a gash that ran from just under of her left eye all the way to where her headphones covered. She winced, reaching up to hold the wound but her hand didn't make it, having forgotten the second attack that came in forcibly into her ribs. She felt something give inside her, the same feeling she had in her arm. She couldn't help the scream of pain that came from her mouth. Two hits, both leaving their marks, it was too much to fight down. It hurt worse to breath now, her muscles from the last punch not recovered yet. Now it mixed with the pain of her ribs, making her breathes ragged and hard.
Her eyes filled with tears, she couldn't keep them from falling as they ran down her face, mixing with the blood that was starting to leak from the gash the worker left, the salt in them causing the wound to sting even more. It hurt, it really did. She couldn't keep it in anymore. The pain was building up on her all over. It didn't help with her breathing though, it only made it harder. But she couldn't stop it, she didn't have the energy to keep it bottled up. She gripped her sword, she hadn't dropped it yet, she almost did, but she didn't. She didn't deep breathes, there was no way she could without causing herself to kneel down in pain. Instead she looked at the worker hard with her gray eyes, she was going to take this jerk down. This pain was because of him, to get it stop, she had to stop him. He was close to dying, she could tell. He was getting slower, and all those wounds were a sure sign that he was close to being down. She just had to keep hitting him. She got him once, she could get him again. Surely she could. She brought up her sword, high, keeping her eyes adverted as her sword swung horizontally, aiming for the man's neck.

42 - 60 = 1 - 100 = 99 - 45 = 54% Akio was getting tired, his muscles beginning to ache and scream at him with every movement. He gritted his teeth and gripped his sword with whatever strength he had left. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to get him through the rest of the fight. At least, he hoped it could. With any luck, it wouldn’t last much longer. Sarah managed to get in a hit to the Worker, bringing him down to what seemed like his last leg. It was stunning, seeing someone manage to get in a hit without looking at the enemy. As blood gushed from the worker, though, she seemed as if she was going to be ill. He couldn’t blame her, though. Seeing someone in that state… That much blood in this small amount of area. Due to low ventilation, the smell was thick in the air, and as the blood coagulated, the smell only got worse. No doubt, they needed to get out of there soon. Perhaps call a clean up crew to get all of this out of the tunnels. There was no one who deserved to walk down these tunnels and see that kind of mess.
But they had to push through this, even if there was nothing about this fight worth continuing. Akio’s attacks landed on broken fists and open air, doing absolutely no critical damage, the Worker deflecting them with little to no effort at all. It was frustrating to see, but he understood. There was no point in wallowing in it, though he did feel a tightness in his chest caused by the anxiety of the fight and the death he had already seen. The twirling and clashing of swords did nothing to mask the draining emptiness that was encroaching on Akio’s consciousness. Soon, he wouldn’t care. The worker would die, and that would be it. Sarah would manage to move on after this battle and continue to grow stronger as everyone else did. Of course, he would to. He would continue to get better and excel at whatever he did, in his own way. Akio wasn’t here to make friends, but to repay his debts. Acel’s death shouldn't affect him like it did, and he wouldn't let future losses do the same thing. He couldn’t.
So gritting his teeth, he looked away from the girl he fought with, trying to ignore the tears that fell down her cheeks. It wasn’t his business that she was upset. Or, he didn’t want it to be. He focused on the battle before him, plotting how the next few motions were going to go. The worker would attack Sarah, and Sarah would retaliate with her own, leaving an opening for Akio. It happened every single time, so he knew it was coming this time as well. He waited patiently for his opportunity, then dashed forward into the workers opening, slashing in an upwards motion with as much power as he could. The fatigue was getting to him, but his attack still went right for where he aimed. He aimed for the shoulder, this time, hoping to drive his sword deep into the skin and deliver the final blow. He was only fast enough to deliver two attacks, be he knew damn well that it could be enough to bring him down. All they needed was one good hit and the worker was done for. So, he kept at it, moving as fast as his limbs and newfound powers could take him. There was little to no time between his attacks, one attack coming down on the man’s shoulder only to be attacked again with a stab, wanting only to pierce his sword into the man, knocking him dead. Then, and only then, would he be satisfied with this fight.

As the worker was struck by the woman's slash, he ground his teeth together--but the true and abhorring fact was that he was being cut up by a woman who couldn't even look at him while she did it! She couldn't even bear the sight of what her own strikes was doing to the opponent that she was attacking! How could such a weak-minded little BRAT be able to do something like become a baiter!? This anger fueled him even more as he had gone in for his hits, and when the first strike landed true (sure, it missed her eyeball, which would have been a gory and horrific wound, but a fun old time), and cut her down the side of her face he grinned. Appearing beside the girl, as she was too busy trying to ignore the fact that she was killing someone, he struck once more, landing the punch in her ribs and feeling at least one or two of them giving beneath the force. He smirked, feeling confident as he landed all of these strikes, but then suddenly the woman lunged forward and her blade was cutting across his throat. The man didn't know what the hell he was even doing before it happened--it just did. She just moved and there she was. He reached up in absolute shock as his hands felt the area of his neck the others had failed to hit. The jugular vein surged blood forward, spraying it across Sarah as if to say 'this is what you did with your sword'. A vicious laugh came from the man as he whirled around to Akio. The man was trying to slash him as well, and as he did, the Worker let it happen.
The first slash tore up through his ribs and pectorals--the second drove the sword down through his shoulder--but when he did this the Worker buckled, falling to his knees. The shoulder Akio had stabbed suddenly disconnected with a hiss and the arm fell to the floor as well. The Worker's eyes seemed to glow and it laughed once again--even with the jaw that was cut in two. "Well, seems you've done it, yeah? I am sure it does. Patch your little holes--keep us from getting in, will you? Try it, Baiters. Try your very best...and when you have failed--and you watch your world fall around you--fall to the hands of your friends and loved ones you thought you knew--it will be...beautiful." The Worker stated with another blast of laughter as suddenly he reached over with the only arm he had left and he slammed his hand into the grate--pulling up and lifting the hatch that Acel had used a few times in his battle. He pulled with all of his might and the Worker slipped under the grate, falling into the darkness below--disappearing from sight.

Sarah felt her sword hit something, then something hit her face. Or rather sprayed. She quickly shut her mind off, not wanting to think about what may have just got onto her. She looked up in time to watch the man's arm fall off though, her eyes going wide at the scene. 'That's... that's his... his...' She couldn't bring herself to finish the mental sentence, quickly turning her head. Dear God she couldn't shake the image. It was burnt in her mind. She hear the man speak. His words slowly reaching her. Her loved ones? Making the world fall? What was he talking about? Ignore him princess, he's probably just blowing off steam from being beaten, download the other guard. The guard said inside her mind. She could only nod, quickly looking up when she heard something hit, seeing that the man was getting away. She couldn't chase him though. They ran him off, and they knew his face. The locals would know who to look for. She turned toward the floating orb that was the enemy guard's core information. She gently touched it, watching was the code absorbed toward her headphones. 'Upgrade, awesome.' The Guard said inside her mind, sounding excited.
Sarah dropped her sword, slowly lifting the now free good hand toward her face. She touched where she felt something hit her, pulling her hand back to see it was red. It was the last strike. She quickly ran off, rounding the first corner she found so she could let out the contents of her stomach without Akio seeing. 'Aren't you considerate.' The Guard mumbled, sounding disgusted. Sarah ignored him, trying to hack quietly before sobbing again. She couldn't keep it in at the end. She couldn't. Once Sarah was sure she was done, she walked away from the mess she had created, rounding the corner then falling down against the wall, sliding down it till she sat down on the floor. It was terrible, it was still in her mind. But she didn't get sick from the thought, she already reacted to it. She was numb now. Almost, she was still crying, she was completely numb, but she was able to think about the gore without getting sick. 'You'll get use to it, it comes with the job. Just remember Lynda.' The Guard told her softly, actually taking pity on the poor girl.
Sarah glanced over, looking at the ruined jacket that was laying far away. She would need to clean off the blood, she couldn't just walk around with blood on her. She didn't want to think about how she looked. She ached all over, especially her face. She thought about the hits, making a note about what injuries she might have. A bruise definitely. The cut from the man's finger attack. She looked at her arm finally, gasping at the sight. The bone was definitely broken. Dear lord, she hoped that healed correctly. She couldn't hold a violin properly now even if she wanted. She didn't want that to be a permanent thing. She wanted to be able to make music again.

As Akio slashed and hacked, he could feel the battle coming to a close. With a final stab, Akio’s sword pierced the man’s shoulder and the Workers wicked grin bore into him, carving a path into his mind like it was nothing. This man was truly insane… This thought only escalated when Akio heard a savage hiss and a strange thump as the arm then popped off, falling to the blood coated floor. Unable to help himself, Akio dropped his katana and took a few steps back. He wasn’t going to be sick, that much he knew, but he felt his breath catch. Then, as laughter bounced off the walls, Akio stopped breathing, listening to the insane rambling of the man before him. He spoke of the ones he loved turning on him, leaving him, and of the organization failing… No, that couldn’t happen, could it? They were a strong group of people. Good people. Akio gritted his teeth, watching the worker laugh once more, fumbling for the grate before finally falling to the darkness below, disappearing from Akio’s line of sight.
Letting out a rough sigh, Akio stood for a moment, trembling slightly as he went over the situation again in his mind. Four enemies, all of them dead. No, that wasn’t right. Supposedly dead. Akio had a new AI, a good one who gave him rather interesting powers. Watched a party member die before his eyes. Oh, and he had killed a person. Yes, the man was insane, but he was still a human. Akio closed his eyes, balling his fists as he tried to collect himself. As he did so, he heard Sarah take off, followed closely by the unmistakable sound of vomit splattering on the floor. It was a normal reaction to seeing a dead body for the first time. To seeing someone die for the first time. ‘What, like this isn’t your first time seeing someone die.’ The Trooper said, obviously quite happy that the man he worked for was dead, or simply gone. But Akio had seen someone die before, he had seen the life leave a persons eyes as he sat there helpless and sobbing.
Truth be told, he felt like crying then, too. He felt like falling to his knees and losing himself in the sorrow and anger that always came with death. But instead, he opened his eyes and took a good long look at the grate the Worker had disappeared behind. He had a nasty feeling that this wasn’t the end. “Chikushō…” He muttered through his teeth, looking up to where Sarah was. She wasn’t doing too hot, but he decided to leave her alone, for the time being. If there was anything she had to do, it was collect herself and leave with her head on straight. So, he left her be and walked to the nearest wall, placing a hand on it to examine the structure. It was sturdy and strong, cold to the touch, and very solid. He still needed to fix the damned hole in the shield which was their original task.
There was still so much to do. Repair the code to fix the hole, somehow manage to return to HQ and report everything that had happened, reorganize his new apartment, finish his work on the holo-trainer, fix up Kiki, figure out another mission to do, train more… The list in his mind continued, rattling off more and more tasks, building speed and energy as the list grew, listing small meaningless tasks that served nothing. Akio looked back at all the blood which now coated the walls and floor, then back down at himself. Red coagulating liquid coated most of his front, soaking through the fabric of his shirt, sticking to his skin if he pulled on it. The blood was a mix of Acel and the Workers. This fact caused him pause, furrowing his brow as he thought about this. He had never been hit. Through the entire fight, he had somehow managed to refrain from getting hit at all. Sarah had her arm broken, and her face had been punched a good few times. Acel had died. All while he dodged left and right, managing to never get hit a single time.
Pain shot through his temples, a sharp, intense pain that caused him to stumble a little. Another curse escaped his lips as he turned and leaned against the wall, closing his eyes, then placing a hand over them. This was all too much, too fast. He wanted to leave, wanted to take a long nap and finally shower all of the blood off his skin. The blood that was his comrades. The one that died, more than likely believing that Akio didn’t care in the slightest. Again, the air caught in his throat as he thought about it, unable to move his train of thought elsewhere. Once again, he was responsible for someone's death. Once again, someone he knew had died under his watch.
The pain blasted him again, and he sank to the floor, holding his head in his hand. The pain served as a constant reminder of what he did. Of what he was responsible for. He had to live through the pain, and remain in this agony, all because he deserved it. Because he had let the person he had loved the most die. Because it was his fault, and he deserved to be in this long, intense pain. The constant throbbing reminder that he had ******** up…
So he waited for Sarah to return, letting her have the moment she needed to recuperate and recollect her thoughts, and was able to return to the tunnel, finally leaving. ‘Didn’t realize that the humans were this royally ******** up. Or is it just you?’ The E-Trooper chuckled, making fun of Akio’s mental state idly as they waited for Sarah.
Akio let out a small laugh, shaking his head, then wincing as it caused him more pain than anticipated. ‘Baiter’s are, as I’ve noticed. We’ve all got some s**t to deal with, evidently…’ He knew about Acel and his family being murdered. Then Dal and… Well, he wasn’t a hundred percent on that. The man lost a great deal, he knew that, but of the specifics he didn’t know. Fae was obviously screwed, something quite obviously messed around with in both his head and body. Of the specifics he didn’t know. Corrine, though? She only seemed to be a lovesick puppy, following around Dal as if she’d never seen a real man before. Then there was Sarah, someone who had self esteem issues and a various array of anxious behaviors. Almost as if someone had abused her in the past.
‘And here I was, hoping that if I ever got stuck in the head of a human, they wouldn’t have PTSD, or whatever. Akio could practically feel the E-Troopers eyes roll. Ah, this was going to be a long and beautiful companionship.

Sarah had closed her eyes, letting the emotions she that were mixing in her head slowly drain from her body. She was calming down, though the events were still playing in her mind. Acel and the worker's death were imprinted in her mind, just like Lynda's. Though with Lynda, she never saw the actual death. She breathed in a few breathes, figuring she took long enough. Akio was probably wondering what the hell was wrong with her. She was fighting, why would she need to take so long. She slowly climbed back up the wall, keeping her good arm against it, her bad one close to her still sore stomach. She wasn't going to sleep too well tonight, she was sure. She would be grumpy tomorrow.
Sarah slowly made her way back toward the hall where she had left Akio, feeling guilty. What if he got attacked again while she had disappeared. She paused for a second before rounding the corner, remembering the blood that was on her. She looked down at her red tank top, wondering if it would show too badly on it. She could only sigh as she lifted the top and rubbed it on her face, trying to clean it up the best she could. Unknown to her the blood had cleaned up mostly, but there was still a ting to it on her face. She didn't have a mirror so there was no way to tell. She continued her way back to Akio, taking note that he was holding his head in pain. She stopped for a second, trying to remember if he had gotten hit in his head or not. She was sure he didn't, in fact she was sure he didn't get hit once during the fight. But then she remembered when he had went to the hospital part of headquarters and getting some medication. Maybe it was having a severe migraine. That seemed likely.
She knew about those, she had them frequently after she had gotten her surgery. Hearing noises for the first time and her body getting use to the wires inside her head had caused a lot of problems for her until she had gotten use to hearing. The doctors had warned her and gave her medication to help with them when they got real bad. Her family had to keep playing to try and help keep her migraines down. Sarah looked around, seeing the weapons she had left behind during her running. She slowly continued her way, glancing at Akio, giving him an apologetic look. “Sorry....” She murmured picking up the sword first, pressing the button for a few seconds, watching it return to it's small box form before tucking it in her belt. She did the same with her scythe once she had it. It took her a second to grab all three of her knives from her fight with the Quazzar. She tucked them all in, muttering the word 'disengage' to turn the weapons off.
She went to her jacket, not wanting to touch it with the spit from the Quazzar on it now. She slowly picked it up, shifting it so she could reach into the pocket and get her phone out. She could leave the jacket, she didn't want to try and carry it the way it was now. She may have fought the thing but she didn't want it's spit on her. 'Squeamish Princess?' The guard commented with amusement. She merely ignored him as she started to turn toward Akio to let him know she was ready to go when he was.

The throbbing was intense. It was never quite this bad, the pain shooting back and forth between his temples, a jack hammer sounding in his ears at every little sound. Sarah walked by, picking up her weaponry and whispering at it to shut them down, but to him is sounded like another war. Swords clashing and metal sliding against metal, shouting and loud footsteps stomping through his head. Akio stayed still, trying his best to block out the sound of Sarah picking up her weapons. He needed to pick his katana back up, having dropped it earlier. A sigh escaped his lips, and even that hurt to do. It was fairly certain that if he stood, he would wobble and fall, so he remained sitting while he waited for his companion to signal that she was ready to go.
More than anything, he wanted to sleep. The taxi ride to the train station, then the train to Toronto, and finally teleporting to HQ suddenly sounded like a daunting task. Honestly, if he had a choice, he would rather stay there for the night. Somewhere deep in the tunnels where he could have some peace and quiet for the night. No, it would be better to actually sleep in a bed, or at least something soft. So, with silent protests, Akio lifted his head to check if Sarah was ready to go. As it turned out, she was. She seemed to be rather unhappy with how gross she looked and felt, and honestly he couldn’t blame her. He placed a hand on his chest, feeling just how sticky it was, and frowned. The two of them looked like they were murdered, brought back to life, then murdered again. Granted, Sarah looked a lot worse for wear. Her arm was broken at a nasty angle, the bone obviously broken at the forearm. The bone didn’t break through the skin, but it looked as if it wanted to. It made him wince a little, but it wasn’t the worst thing to look at, after all, he had looked in the face of death.
Still, Akio let out a small chuckle as he stood, using the wall for support. “Won’t we look stunning getting on the train looking like this…” He said, making a joke of the situation. His head still pounded, but he knew he could manage. There would be a point where he knew he would drop, unable to continue even if he wanted to, but he would absolutely push himself to that limit no matter what. So, with a chuckle, Akio started walking towards the entrance, picking up his sword and sheathing it in the process.
The two were lucky that they were Baiters. Sarah’s arm was already almost healed, and the bruises on her face had already faded away to nothing. Still, it was difficult to ignore the vast amounts of blood that were on their person at the moment. Once again, he placed his hand on his chest and grimaced. The blood was already heavily coagulated, turning a nasty, thick, brown color. He never imagined he could ever want a shower so badly in his life, and yet here he was. Covered in nasty, crusty, blood coupled with one of the worst migraines he could have possibly asked for.
So they made their was a quickly as possible to the terminal that held all the code for the tunnels and ran the shield that kept the AI out of the city. It was already getting dark outside, so he was thankful he didn’t have to worry about the sun, but there was still the terminal itself he worried about. When activated, it gave off a light, shining right in his face at the worst possible angle. Booting it up, it did exactly that, causing Akio to wince, grumbling about light and how awful it was, all in Japanese. It didn’t exactly save anything from where he left off earlier, but it wasn’t difficult to start back up again, going through the code to find out exactly where the hole was. “This could take a while.” Akio said, not turning to her. It wasn’t to be rude, but because he really didn’t want to turn his head. “And would you mind if I had a cigarette?” Thankfully, Sarah gave her approval, then walked far enough away that she couldn’t smell it.
He didn’t think he could be more thankful for something in his life. Akio pulled out his box of cigarettes as he looked over the code, tapping the end on his palm to pack it. ‘This thing is ancient…’ He thought to himself, placing the butt in his mouth and lighting the end. As he took his first inhale, he felt some of the tension leave his muscles. While his wicked migraine still plagued him, the silky mix of tobacco and nicotine allowed him to momentarily forget it was even a thing. He wisely used this small moment of reprieve to take another look at the system, taking in the crude technology.
Akio grumbled something about Chicago upgrading their defence systems, pawing through the nodes and buttons on the touch screen that was projected before him. Luckily, all he had to do was locate the coordinates of the hole, then patch it up, right? Unfortunately, he was wrong in the assumption, finding that no, the code didn’t only have bugs in it, but it was entirely wiped out. “Anata ga o susume watashi o karakatte kuso suru koto ga kimashita…” He muttered, looking over everything, hoping to whatever almighty there was that he could copy and paste something to make his life easier. Of course, there wasn’t. Only lines upon lines of useless garbage that only served to be useful for other quadrants and levels of the tunnels. It was incredibly inefficient and an absolute pile of crap that held this thing together. No wonder it was so easily crashed by a simple worker. So, with a great amount of irritation and pain, Akio recreated a long section of code that put the shields back online. He had nearly finished his cigarette by that point, so chose to rest for a moment to finish it up. ‘Adept in programing and quick thinking. Minor addiction to cigarettes, and a strong hunger for information. At least you’re not stupid. Then again… The E-Trooper trailed off, pulling at memories in Akio’s head to look at them. Memories of him as a child and being dragged by one of the dogs, of when he first found out he was allergic to peanuts by eating one, of his first time in bed with someone. None of those moments could be counted as intelligent, but neither were they stupid. ‘Can you not, actually?’ Akio thought, dropping the cigarette butt on the floor before stomping it out and blowing out the final breath of smoke it had given him. ‘That is sensitive information.’
Of course, the Trooper didn’t care, continuing to dig through, picking up random memories, then discarding them just as quick, almost as if it were simply bored with being in his mind. ‘What else am I to do while I’m in here? Play chess? Akio rolled his eyes, then winced in pain. Oh, bad idea. ‘Oh, and stop doing that. It hurts me just as much as it hurts you.’
Again, Akio sighed, finally making his way back towards where Sarah had walked off to. ‘All the more reason to do it.’ When he approached Sarah, he was at least good enough to act normal, so he did. He managed to not let on that he was still suffering slightly, every single movement of his head killer. There were moments where he couldn’t quite handle it, and the pain showed on his face, but for the most part was alright. He had lived with the pain long enough to do at least this much. “Are you ready to go?”
