October 27, 2017 Halloween wasn’t a holiday that was unfamiliar to him, it had been catching on back home in Korea, so for Seung to go out shopping for decorations wasn’t to odd really. He’d gone out decoration shopping last year anyway, and that had been a bit of fun, this year though he was getting a few things for his and Terry’s room as the rest of the house had already been decorated.
He wasn’t planning on anything too insane, they shared a single bedroom so it wasn’t a lot of space, he didn’t want to wake up every morning to something too over the top and dramatic - just simple but did the job. He wanted something which said Halloween.
This was the reason he was bundled up and walking through the subway station, just having gotten off the subway he’d taken to the nearest party city to their home. The load of people moving around wasn’t anything new, he’d grown up in a city with how many people who all seemed to use mass transit, so he knew how to get around people and not get elbowed in the face...at least most of the time. There were still the odd times a person would do something he didn’t see coming and he’d get bumped, banged, and hit.
Looking over his cell phone, again, he had a list of what he was hoping to get on his phone. Seung was hoping they had everything he wanted, that he wouldn’t need to go elsewhere, but he was doing this a bit last minute so he might be a bit out of luck and have to find another store.
Sighing he dodged another person, with ease, but stopped dead in his tracks when he spotted very familiar greyish silver hair and watched in silence, as if watching a horror movie, as the owner of that hair turned around.
It was his own face….his own dark eyes and the same glasses he was wearing today. The same piercings -everything the same. Everything but that smirk...it was something which didn’t belong on his face, a look he didn’t think he’d ever worn on his face. It was...creepy and it left him feeling cold and scared. This wasn’t normal, not in the slightest, and he was scared and felt a shudder race up his spine as he watched the figure turn away from him and vanish amongst all the bodies moving about.
That had been him...right? He’d seen himself - right? He wasn’t hallucinating….at least he didn’t think so, there was no reason for that. No...the goosebumps on his arms and the feeling of dread, and fright, were nothing he could just manifest. There was a reason for it and the reason had gotten away...which might be a good thing, he didn’t understand it and he didn’t want to make a scene here - too many people.
Shaking his head, and getting walked right into, jarred him from his thoughts and had him hurrying for the sidewalk and party city. His fingers, the whole while, flying over his keyboard as he sent a text to his family - everyone but his own parents. His elder and younger cousins and Terry and Matt. he let them all know something was up and told Terry, and Matt, to tell their parents. He didn’t need them to encounter this doppelganger of him, there was no telling what it may or may not do to them if they approached it. It hadn’t looked friendly.
“I don’t like this….this holiday isn’t good...not here.” Not in this city. Word count: 602

December 4, 2017 Trips to his home world had been few and few between for a while, he’d been busy with work and school, it was something to improve upon if you asked Venice and this was the first step. He was working on cleaning up a bit more at his wonder. The bedding, in the private quarters, had been changed so they were a nice and warm and set for winter. But that he’d done hours ago, when he’d first arrived, he had now gone back up to the main floor in order to work on cleaning and trying to make the theater's main area less of a hazard to one's health.
The last time he’d come to his wonder he’d brought a portable light, a big one that would light up the area, and was powered by big batteries. He’d also gone and bought, and charged, an extra battery so he could keep the light on for a good while in order to clean up. It was, as he figured, the only way he could get this place clean. He couldn’t use a flashlight or some other small light, they didn’t produce enough light and had to be held, it had been a good investment if you asked him. He could see and cleaning was easier than he’d thought, though it was a lot of work.
He had a mop, broom, bucket filled with water that he’d brought on another trip as well, and the cleaning was going...as well as he figured it could. Muscles strained as he moved chairs about in order to try and clean things up. The chairs being placed where they should be, where they’d been ripped from, with the thought in mind to bring a means to bolt or screw them back into place next time. Next time he also wanted to try and start on the stage floor...and find a proper way down to the area under it.
Right now he was dragging another chair across the floor, not really a good thing as it left scratches across the floor, but he needed to get it moved. He’d have to find a way to fix the floor also….eventually.
Sighing as he placed the chair in it’s correct spot, or at least an open spot, the male stood himself back up and glanced about. He had a lot more to do but he had made progress, notable progress, maybe he could get a Christmas tree for here...or something else maybe, something more...Korean. They didn’t have Christmas in ancient Korea and maybe something traditional would be nice for his ancestor? He was already planning on dropping by when he next could and cleaning up down there as well, and trying to start fixing the stage floor.
Moving back towards the pile of chairs, glad that it was noticeably smaller, Venice went to grab another and pull it away from the pile. The one he grabbed seemed to be caught on another, or another was leaning on it it some way, and another chair came toppling down and nearly landed on his foot. Jumping back he fell, right onto his a**, startled and not at all pleased. Shaking his head, rather than get upset, he stood and went to fix things and move the chair to where he wanted to place it. “Soon it’ll be nice here.” How soon he didn’t know though...but eventually.
It was an hour later that he sat down, ready to go home, sweat dripping down his down and his arms feeling numb and not wanting, or able, to move another thing. His legs felt odd, like they didn’t belong, as he made to climb up to the stage and let himself drop down. He was glad for the pillow of curtains and blankets down at the bottom, not that it helped as much as he wished it would, it did soften the landing some.
The walk to the living quarters was slow, his legs not wanting to really work right, but he made it there and was able to bow towards his ever patient and calm ancestor. A low bow as he told the man he was going back to Earth for now. He had worked hard on cleaning up the main part of the theater and would be back as soon as he was able to return in order to clean up more. Apologizing for any noise the other had heard, to which he was waved off as the noise was a byproduct of his hard work, Venice was happy to smile at his elder.
<”I am going to bring a table and more with me soon. I want to prepare ahead of time for Seollal, I will make sure to be here for it to celebrate. It will have to be early though. Korea is being honored greatly by hosting the biggest sporting event. The eyes of the world will be on Korea and watching. We are hosting many great athletes and many more people. I will be there to watch. I have heard it would be unsafe for me to power up in Korea….as much as I wish I could. So coming here on Seollal will be impossible. I will prepare here however and celebrate ahead of time.”>
The mention of the events taking place, the Olympics, had his ancestors interest as he’d not mentioned it to him previously. He hadn’t been sure something like that, something so modern, would interest him. It certainly had however, as he found himself being motioned to sit down and explain - which he did. Explaining what the Olympics were and how things had to be built, and where exactly in Korea it would be, he explained the bidding process and how they had failed multiple times...only to finally be granted the honor to host.
Time went on with him explaining and his ancestor asking questions and mentioning what an honor it was to share their culture with the world - to play honored host to them.
When he finally got up to leave, stretching as he did so, Venice’s dark eyes remained trained on his ancestor, even as he bowed to him. <”I will return as soon as I can to continue my work.”> He would bring things for Seollal and clean up further, he would work on his wonder - it was his but he wanted to restore it for his ancestor also.
What he wasn’t expecting was his ancestors next words to him <”I think that I would like to be brought back home and buried in the land I was born, with my ancestors and those who have come after me.”><”You want me to bring your body to Korea? Your body is here...somewhere?”><”Yes, that is my wish. It is what I did with the knight who came before me. I was descended from her and brought her remains back for burial before I took over. My body has remained here long enough, it is time I return home.”><”Of course. I will do my best.”> It would not be easy to do that...but he would try. Perhaps Quinn could help him with it. He had no idea how transporting bones, or a body, that old would be possible...but he had to try.
<”I will return, and hopefully have a means to grant your wish.> A bow, long and low, and he turned to head off.Word count: 1,245

January 2, 2018 It had shown up on the news that morning - icicles of various sizes falling from the sky. There was no warning, no clouds needed, they just suddenly started to fall and as soon as they started falling they stopped. Lasting a short amount of time they were as sudden to appear as they were to vanish...leaving injured people in their wake as well as various damaged things.
He’d seen a report on someone being hit with one, in the arm, as well as their cars as they’d been parking outside a convenience store for a morning cup of coffee. The person was ok but their car was going to need a replaced front window, it had a big hole right in it.
As much as he didn’t want to go out, he’d like to avoid the chance of being hit with a spear of ice, Seung had decided that night to head out powered up and do a patrol. He’d learned not to trust winter and figured this was part of whatever had been going on at the end of last year and now this year, there was some trend going on, and he wanted to make sure nothing else happened - he didn’t trust it.
Assuring people he would be safe, and that he did indeed have his phone, Seung had headed out to patrol for an hour or two. His phone was tucked into the pocket of his coat, he needed the coat to keep warm, as he made his way across the cities numerous rooftops. So far nothing had been seen, no auras felt, and everything had been silent...though cold.
Watching as puff after puff of air hit the air, curling upward in a white cloud, Venice nearly fell over as the first shard of ice hit the ground just where he was going to step. Jumping back he stared up at the sky - a clear night. The stars were out, at least what few he could see in the city, and as he continued to stare he found a shard of ice heading right for his face. Falling to the ground and rolling he just missed getting hit, and anyone watching might find the sight funny, as he rolled about to avoid the next few spears of ice.
As they landed on the rooftop, a few sticking like throwing knives stuck in a wall, the squire felt one slice open his coat. The cold air rushing into his coat and hitting his uncovered skin - this wasn’t good. Someone back home would be upset, or a few people, and his coat was going to need to get fixed...not what he wanted. Cursing he managed to roll out of the area they were hitting, thankfully, and sat up for a moment before he climbed to his feet.
Watching as they continued to pelt the rooftop he waited until they stopped falling before grabbing a few of them. They looked, and felt, normal but who knows. This was not normal at all. Looks like his trip out was going to be cut short, he wanted to get these home and bagged. Incase there was anything off with them he wanted to preserve them and see if anyone could maybe check them out….maybe.
“And I want to adopt a child and raise them in this city….” He didn’t like this city for raising a child but what could he do - move? He couldn’t, and wouldn’t, ask that of his husband or their family. He and Terry would have to do their best to keep their child, once they were allowed to select a child, as safe as possible in this nightmare of a city.
Holding the icicles in his one hand he pulled his phone out with the other in order to call home. “I’m coming home...I have some icicles with me...have bags ready - I’m keeping...want them checked.” He didn’t trust that they were completely normal, and why should he? Once he’d hung up, assuring Terry he’d be safe on the way home, he pocketed his phone and picked up the pace on his way home. Word count: 692

January 09, 2018 (Back dating a bit.) When he returned to his wonder, to his ancestor, Seung had brought more things. He’d gotten into the habit of bringing containers with him so he could bring lots of things which he couldn’t fit in his arms otherwise. He could carry the container, and what was in it, where as he couldn’t carry all the items on their own.
Inside the large contained, which he finally got down to the living quarters, were all manner of items. He’d brought things for a proper alter for his ancestors, for when the Lunar New year rolled around, but there were other things so he could continue to try and make the living quarters more liveable. Most of it was basic things like pillows, floor mats and other simple things. He had bought things for the bathroom though. Towels and products to wash with, things he might need if he decided to spend a night here...which he might just do once things were a bit more cleaned up down here.
It was once he’d cleaned off the glass, and sink and countertop that he’d the products out on the countertops clean surface. Now that he could see it better he was fairly certain it was marble which made up the countertops surface while some parts, like little doors to drawers, were made of wood. The sinks, of which there were two, were some sort of metal that was tarnished but seemed to hold a goldenish hue.
With everything in its place Venice made his way back to the sitting room and to his ancestor, who had been waiting there for him it seemed. Seating himself on a mat, at the low table, he settled for asking the important thing he needed to know - where was the others remains. The location his ancestor had sent him to was a place he should have investigated long ago, back when he’d investigated the other three towers this wonder boasted. He hadn’t though, too caught up in other things. The last tower would only allow the currant knight Venice to enter, and only if they had their signet ring.
He didn’t meet a painting this time, as he had at the other three towers, here it was just stone wall with a small spot for the ring he wore to be fitted. When the stones moved aside he was able to step inside and the room was just a hollow tower with a casket right in the center of the room.
It was decorated, had cloth covering it, and he was sure the body inside would have been prepared properly though by who he didn’t know. Someone had to have done the work but no new knight had replaced the previous Venice. An assistant or some sort of helper perhaps...he’d ask his ancestor soon enough. Right now he knew where the remains were and that was a big step for him, he needed them if he were going to fulfill his ancestors wishes.
Taking the time to bow, a full on the floor bow, he stood slowly after some time on the ground with his forehead pressed to the cold stone. He didn’t open the casket, that would be rude, but he did run his fingers over the top of it. This was his ancestors body...this was what he needed to bring back to Earth and to Korea somehow. The problem was how would he get it there? Could he manage to teleport it...he didn’t want to disturb the body if he could help it...that was a taboo sort of thing.
When he finally took the time to look around the room he found it rather large and in need of some decorating, nothing like the living quarters or anything disrespectful, it could really use a proper offering table and some other things - things for the ancestors who had called this wonder theirs in the past. If only out of respect for them and perhaps for when he died? Though he wasn’t likely to die here but rather on Earth...a normal death there.
His mind on various things, what he had to try and do, what he needed for this room, Venice headed out of the room and went back the way he’d come. Heading down corridors that were, for the most part, empty of everything. Decaying curtains covered windows, he’d get to replacing them when he could. The one thing he was glad to notice, so far anyway, was that the floors and walls all seemed intact. No stones out of place, missing, or broken. It didn’t mean he wouldn’t encounter such a thing at a later date, or that some weren’t loose, but the structure itself seemed good. He was glad, it was one less thing to fix at his wonder.
Returning to the theater itself, stepping into the floor seating area, he headed for the stage and dropped himself down to where the set pieces were all kept. Down here was also the office and the living quarters, which was where he was headed. A bow to his ancestor, as a way of greeting, he let the elder know he’d found his remains and they were in a casket. He didn’t know who had prepared them but he would not be disturbing them if he could help it. He would find a way to bring them home - to Korea. He had found them though and he had no work to do as far as preparing the remains, something he was honestly glad for.
After some more time spent, seated at the low table in the sitting room, Venice finally got up to leave. Having assured his ancestor that he would return in two weeks, as it seemed he had to wait that long between visits, and would try and bring both of his cousins with him this time. He didn’t know for sure if he could...but he would try. The man wanted to see what were likely other descended family members, they both figured the knight and senshi blood came from the same family line.
Deciding that he’d maybe treat his cousins to dinner, or some time spent together, where he’d mention bringing them to his wonder the knight of Venice teleported himself back to Destiny City. He had text messages to send once he got home, and a husband to talk to so Terry knew of his plans. Word count: 1,073

January 22, 2018 It was a habit by now, for the last few weeks, to log onto his twitter account the moment he got onto his laptop. The reason was all the voting going on for iHeart radio, and before that tweeting at radio stations for air time. There were other things also which he’d been doing on twitter - a lot of other things. Being part of a fanbase was not easy, it meant a lot of work, but when he logged on this morning he took note of what was trending and scrolling about his feed.
It was while scrolling down his feed he spotted a post by Soompi, a site he trusted for news in the Korean entertainment industry, and it was interesting. Opening the link to the article he quickly read over it before going back to twitter, he was happy by what he’d read. It was a huge step in the right direction...really big. He just hoped that shows, like music bank and show champion, didn’t let it influence them being on the show or anything. End of the year awards...well those were months away, but he’d keep his fingers crossed.
Checking on one of the trending hashtags he spied another, one which made sense now. Clicking on Holland he wasn’t surprised now. It wasn’t uncommon for Kpop things to trend on twitter, even if most people were clueless about them. Glancing over the comments he added into the conversation, both in English and in Korean.
One hand reaching for his phone he sent a quick text to his sister to let her know what he’d seen. He knew she was in class, she’d get his text later when she was between classes, he finished what he was doing and got up and went to get ready to head out for some shopping. This semester he was taking off, he had a lot on his plate right now, so since he had the free time maybe he’d go and talk to his elder cousin as well? Maybe he’d just invite Hyeon out with him to do some shopping, he might need some things.
“A gay idol...and he’s out…” Whispering to himself as he headed back up to his and terry’s room, a bright smile twisting his lips upwards. That was a huge step...but would it be followed by more steps? What might he suffer for being so brave?
Even if Holland’s music wasn’t good, and he could use some work really, Seung would support him. He was brave for doing this, very brave, and deserved all the support he could get for that alone. It was an idol worth watching just to see what would happen, what would fans back in Korea think...he hoped the idol was treated fairly. It was nice to see someone that people might look up to, want to be like, being out in the open. Maybe, though he highly doubted it, other idols who were in the closet would come out?
There had been the one who had come out, not all that long ago, as asexual but that was still different from this - very different.
Pushing the door open to his and his husbands room Seung slipped inside. Heading for the closet to grab some clothing for the day, since he was still in pajamas, he passed his sleeping partner and quickly and gently pressed a kiss to his cheek. Word count: 572

January 23, 2018 He’d seen it mentioned online, on various sites which dealt with Korean music, and it had brought a smile to his face but it also had him scrambling to check his bank account. It wasn’t that he expected to spend a lot, far from it, but it was a habit to check before he went to purchase anything.
Seeing as he had the money in his account, not that he figured he didn’t, Seung was quick in checking iTunes and not finding what he was looked for he went to check the time. He still had an app on his phone that told him what time it was in various countries, he had it set to South Korea, so taking note of the time he sighed. It wasn’t time yet, though it was close. Another hour and the album would drop, along with the music video.
It wasn’t that he was a huge Shinee fan, a Shawol, when compared to others or fan of Junghyun but he wouldn’t deny the talent the singer had possessed and he did like Shinee a lot. He had the other albums by Shinee, and Jonghyun, downloaded and this one...this one he wanted to get now rather than wait - it was important. He didn’t know if, or even how, the title track would go up against other songs on the usual music shows since Jonghyun was dead now but he knew album sales were important for everything in Korea and he wanted to help.
Music sales, from iTunes and physical copies from certain sites, showed up on certain music charts that the shows in Korea went by. It also played a part in what turned up for end of the year shows such as MelOn and MAMA. If he could help by purchasing the digital and the physical album he would. He hoped that even though the idol was dead that he would be up for awards, if not the music shows than the end of the year shows in December. It was what Jonghyun deserved for how talented he had been.
Since he didn’t have work, or classes, today Seung decided to head for the kitchen and get a drink and something to nibble on while he tried to pass the time till the album release. Maybe he could still pre-order the physical album or order it in the meantime?
Snack and drink in hand, seasoned seaweed chops and banana milk, Seung headed for his laptop and pulled up KPopMart in order to check. Finding that he could order it, and it still had a poster option, he placed his order and typed in his address and bank card information. With everything typed in he finished placing his order and sat back with a smile in place. He hoped he’d still get a poster, he might not hang posters up but he did have a small collection of rolled posters from various album purchases over the years.
He knew, from the first time he’d ordered from the site, that it would take nearly three weeks to arrive if he didn’t go for faster shipping. He’d thought normal shipping wouldn’t be so bad, that it wouldn’t take so long, he knew better now so he had gone for the more expensive shipping just so he didn’t have to wait so long to get the album.
With the order placed now he really did just have to wait. Sighing he opened the bag of octopus chips and opened the tab on the can of banana milk. Sipping his drink he went to check the time, still too long, and then find something else to do online to distract himself for the last forty five minutes before the release should happen.Word count: 625

February 3rd, 2018 Even now, with the opening less than a week away it was hard to believe. Knowing how hard, and how many times, South Korea had tried to win the honor of hosting the Olympics it was still a shock that they had won the honor - finally.
The even bigger shock was that he was going to be able to see the Olympics up close and personal, rather than through a tv screen in Korea at someones home. He really did owe Quinn a lot, more than the blond knew, it meant a lot being able to go and while it was in part a business thing that had them going they would certainly be enjoying themselves as well. This trip was as much leisure as it was work, and he was fine with that, the only thing left to do was pack.
He knew it would be cold there, it was winter back home and they would be up in the northern part of South Korea, so he needed to pack warm clothing for himself and Terry. He knew Quinn would be packing appropriately for the weather, so he didn’t feel the need to remind the other to pack for super cold weather. It left him with just himself and his husband to pack for.
There was more to it though, this was more than just a work and leisure trip for Terry and himself...this was also a trip to deal with the adoption process they’d been slowly working their way through. They were so close, so close to being able to expand their family - so very close. The idea of a child sent a thrill running through him honestly.
It was because of this that there were also a few toys, and other little things, he was packing including some winter clothing. This was when they’d be meeting the children they’d be adopting if all went well. It was a set of twins, both older than they’d planned on adopting but they were both ok with it, and so winter coats and some other things were being brought with him as gifts to keep them warm and entertained.
He could, as they continued to visit and as he packed now, feel the end coming closer to them. Soon they’d have the twins home and they could get to parenting and raising them...giving them a proper family and home. To be honest he liked the idea of taking them shopping. School was the one thing he was dreading, since he knew how hard it had been for himself being new to the country. He could work with them, slowly, on getting them used to the difference in cultures and other things, that would be easy enough. It was all a matter of language being a big issue, at least in his mind, so he’d provided things to help them with their English skills so they could be prepared ahead of time - assuming him and Terry did get them.
Just in case though he wanted them prepared, it was for the best. Sighing as he folded up the long puffy winter coats, one for each of the boys, he settled them into the luggage he was filling with things for them. The rest of the clothing consisted of sweaters, fleeces, and other warm and fashionable clothing. He had been mindful of the brands as well, knowing how big name brands were back home. It meant he’d spent a bit more but he didn’t mind, it was worth it if it made them happy. He wanted to make a good impression on them ahead of time.
Another ten minutes and the luggage for the twins was filled. Now onto his own and Terry’s luggage….and all that they’d be needing. Last would be Seollal gifts for his family, he’d had to do a good deal of ordering and shopping for them, each of them from both himself and Terry. He figured it was about time to risk coming out to his family. He’d let them think Terry was his friend but the gifts would be from them both. Let them make of it what they would, for those who didn’t know about himself and Terry already.
He knew he was taking a risk, a big one, and he was opening himself up to upsetting his parents all over again. But family was important and he was adopting children...he wanted to somehow let his family know about himself and Terry so he could have one big family, so he could introduce the twins to his family. Of course this was provided the twins were placed with Terry and himself, he really did hope they were...he’d grown attached the idea of it. Twins was a lot of work, he knew it, but he could handle it. He had a good job and he could do part time schooling so he could manage everything else. He had support from Terry’s family as well as his elder cousin.
It might be a lot but it would be worth it, it would be worth it to give them a home and take them out of the system. To give them a future.
That thought in mind he finished packing Terry’s bag, and than his own, with a smile in place. He was ready to get back home to South Korea and try and get just a bit closer to that end goal. Word count: 909

February 4th, 2018 It wasn’t easy, whatever in life was? But it wasn't as hard as it could have been. Finding out the family structure for each of their employees in South Korea. It wasn’t that he was being nosy or had some nefarious reason for wanting to know, actually it was the opposite of such.
The reason for Seung looking into it was simple, at least in his mind anyway, he wanted to get an idea of what size gifts to get for each of the people Quinn employed in South Korea. With the lunar new year coming up gifts would be expected and he didn’t want to get something too small for each family, since he was figuring on some sort of small gift basket for each employee.
Already he had ideas on what to put into each gift, though finding some of the items might be hard, he was figuring on at least one of the items being purchased here and brought to South Korea with them. Some things were just cheaper here, mostly because they weren’t considered a luxury item here...in fact he’d heard some things here which were a luxury back home were looked down on here.
First up was spam, something he knew people didn’t much like here and even joked about, but back home it was expensive and a gift item. It was something he thought they should give, since it was especially easy to get here. After that he had fruit, as that was a common thing, as a gift idea to go into the basket he was planning. Beyond that...he was still working on it. He’d likely ask Quinn for ideas also, so it was more personal and from him rather than obviously just from him.
The hard thing to get would be those fruits though, since he didn’t want to buy fruit here and bring them on a plane, it would be so close to the New Year that he might not find anything or what he found might not be good enough or might be super expensive. Not to mention how to explain expensive fruit to Quinn?
No, he’d find a way to get the items himself and let Quinn get something else to put into the baskets; it would be better that way.
Idea in place he went to get his coat so he could head out to the grocery store, first he’d see if Terry was home and check the kitchen to see if they needed anything. Maybe Terry could come with him, and they could get anything the house needed as well.
Pulling on his coat, which he’d grabbed from the closet, Seung hummed a tune to himself as he headed downstairs and right to the kitchen. Starting with the fridge, his cell phone in one hand, he started typing in what he saw they needed. Cabinets were opened and more things were added to the list. Keeping in mind that he and Terry would be gone for a few weeks, so nothing that they exclusively consumed would be purchased and go bad, Seung finished up with one last check over his list and finding no one home he wrote out a quick note and headed out. October 27, 2017 Last year he’d gone the day before to his wonder in order to celebrate the lunar new year with his ancestor, because he’d spent the actual first day of the new year with his living family. This year was different however. He’d been busy the day before and so he’d set his alarm early and crawled out of bed before anyone else in the apartment was up.
A note was left, on the bedside table, for Terry to find incase he woke up before he returned. Once he’d showered and dressed he packed up some of the food they’d made the night before, they’d made a lot of food the previous night, and after leaving the apartment for a short walk he’d powered up and headed to his wonder.
His wonder had been coming along nicely, the help from Quenton with alternative lighting had helped, the place was cleaner and the theater itself was free from thrown about chairs. They were, for the most part, back in place and not likely to be moving any time soon. The curtains had been changed, for the winter, to dark blue with fur trim on the bottoms but once spring came they’d be changed again to a more springtime color. He was planning, as he had from the beginning, to change the curtains throughout his wonder with the changing of the seasons - to match them.
Now though he wasn’t here to change any of the curtains or to clean. He’d done that the last two times he’d visited, and now he was here with food and incense sticks for his ancestor who resided here.
When he got down to the living quarters, he really did need to find a better way down here, the squire of Venice went to greeting his ancestor proper - a full bow. The greetings and well wishes were as one would expect, at least those who knew the proper greetings given to elders on the lunar new year.
“I’ve come a bit early but I did not think you would mind.” Food was removed from the bag and set up on plates, he had brought those the last time he had been here. The offerings were set up on the table carefully, placement was a big thing, and the incense were brought out and set into the holder he’d brought to his wonder on his last trip along with the plates. A lighter he’d brought this time was used to light them and as the tips glowed red, and smoke filled the area Seung felt good about this. This was right.
“I will offer to my other ancestors later - with my family. To come here...and see you on this day was important. I only wish you were able to enjoy the food we prepared last night. Our other ancestors cannot sit here and look at the offerings as you can. It is a shame. I wish that one day you can move on and be at peace and be free of here. Not that here is not important - we both know it is. But to move on from here and be relieved of your duty which has kept you here...waiting for someone to take over.” He wished he was what was needed, that he was good enough, to take over fully so his ancestor could move on to what would await him. Surely this had never happened before in the past.
Bowing his head after speaking, to show his respect for his elder, he raised his head a light smile in place. “One day, right?” He asked. Eventually it would happen - it had to. How much longer could he remain here? Unable to move beyond the confines of these quarters.
Watching his ancestor stand he moved to do the same, halting when the elder raised a hand to keep him still.
“I do believe my wonder here is safe and in good hands. You have proven yourself to me in the time since you have awakened and come here. I have seen you grow and with it I have seen this wonder of mine slowly turn around. Spring has not come yet, not for this wonder, but spring is coming and the winter is losing its grip. I think it’s time that I can move on and leave this wonder in your hands. Spring may not come in your life time...but it will be close, close enough that the next will see it.” He was, of course, not actually talking about winter and spring but he knew his descendant would know just what he meant.
This wonder, which the elder had resided in for so long, was being tended to properly again. It wasn’t to where it had once been but it was getting there, the magic would help, over time and bring it closer to it’s glory again. He knew this Venice, the one in front of him, might not see it back to its full glory but it would get there with the next Venice then.
“I leave this wonder in your capable hands. I trust you can guard it well and do the title justice. You will not let us down.” Us, of course, being himself and the other knights of Venice. They would, he was sure, be proud of the latest knight of this wonder.
”I can finally rest at peace.” Whatever had kept him here, magic of some sort, had finally released it’s hold on the elder knight and as his words whispered into the confined of the living quarters he vanished slowly. Leaving behind the offerings which had been made to him and something else...something much more important. A transcended knightm no long a simple squire. Seung had proven himself and shown his devotion to his wonder and the cause. He would now have the protection of his wonder.
Sitting there, his clothing changed, Seung was left now as the only knight of Venice...and he was a knight - he could feel it. He knew what he was and he knew, from the glow on his chest, that he was like his husband...transcended. That was a big change and one which had him sitting there in silence as he tried to take it all in.
“I hope he finds the peace he’s been denied so long.” He finally whispered, glad that his ancestor could finally move on. It had been too long. No one should languish and wait so long. He was glad he could be here to take over. He just wished it could have been sooner.
When he finally did move it was slow, he was still surprised by this sudden development, he could feel his wonder...it was strange and something he was trying to accept as he moved to eat what food he’d brought with him. Cleaning up what he didn’t finish and the plates he’d eaten on he packed his things and made to leave. As much as he wanted to stay, and he really did, he still had a holiday to celebrate with his family and now he had news to give to his husband. Maybe it was time to tell the twins about the powered lives of their family?
He’d try and talk to Terry about it later...after breakfast. Word count: 1,225

April 21, 2024 He’d been planning on going with Erebus to his wonder, to find his piece of the code, as they’d done with the others' wonder and how they’d handled this together - as a team. Because they handled most everything together, it was how marriage worked, but when they’d arriving back on Earth a call had come in that one of them was needed by Terry’s parents for the twins. He hadn’t gotten all the details from his spouse, Terry had powered down and told him he’d handle the children and to go on up to space and deal with his wonder.
So he’d done just that, after pressing a kiss to the others cheek and assuring him that he’d get things done, and then he’d teleported himself off to space to handle things. He had a wonder to fix because it was out of sorts and needed some fixing.
Arriving at the theater the feeling was there, so persistent it was headache inducing, the feeling of wrongness and need had him closing his eyes and breathing as he pushed past it. He needed to find the code piece and fix this, the quicker the better, but in order to do that he had to push past the feelings which had slammed into him so quickly upon arrival.
“I get it.” He called out to the theater around him, hoping something would hear him and understand, the place had over time been coming alive with the repairs he’d been doing. It wasn’t just that thought but he could see a small insect flutter on by, that was something newer but not an unwelcome sight for the knight. It was a sign of progress and one he’d seen a few times now, he couldn’t be certain if it was the same one he saw each time or not but he almost always saw that particular creature. Always out of reach, always avoiding capture, he just wanted to make notes of it and maybe draw it as well.
Watching it flutter on off, out of sight, the knight turned his focus back to the task at hand because it was the reason for this trip here. This trip he was certain was fueled by his wonders need, because he shouldn’t be able to come here again so soon after his last visit. It just spoke to the need of his wonder, of the code piece housed here, and so he’d started to look around as if to figure which way to go…there were only so many options really. What he wasn’t expecting was a beam of light glowing against the floor - a signal.
Nodding his head, more to himself than anything else, he followed the light as it led him into the main theater and up to the stage where he dropped down to the lower level where he’d found years ago the living quarters of his ancestor. Above, behind the curtains and past the wings, where the rooms for the actors and such, here was living quarters and more rooms some of which he’d not explored before. It was to one of these rooms that he went.
Pushing the door open, taking note of how stiff it was, he was certain he’d tried to get into this room before but found the hinges particularly difficult, inside the room was simple, far simpler than he’d thought it would be or expected. But he should have figured it would be the opposite of what he expected. The code floated in the center while around the room were names, dust covered incense holders some with sticks still standing up from them. A room to perhaps pay respect to previous knights of this wonder? That was all he could think of this room, given what he saw around the edges of the spacious room.
The code was here…amongst all those who had guarded it, their names and small shrines to each one.
In this room the knight sat himself in front of the code. “I fail to find the humor in giving me a single feather when I wanted my weapon.” He stated, staring up at the code with dark eyes. If he was expecting the code to respond he would be waiting a long time, as it seemed uninterested in what he had to say, it kept silent as if waiting for him to do something other than comment on the knights faulty magic.
“Fine, I get it.” Shaking his head the knight fell silent as he let himself relax on the floor, legs crossed and an easy loose posture, Venice let himself be swept away by a meditative state. Memories of his ancestor flooding his mind like dreams but ones he could touch and feel and hear as if he were there. His ancestor wrote the plays which were performed in this theater, most with a message, something he already knew. But the other had once had a love, of course he had, but it had turned sour because they were a knight and could not leave their wonder. They would not leave and stayed…did not follow their love who wished to explore space and see other planets. They had been a civilian…not a knight or a senshi but a simple person.
He heard the news of their death as his ancestor did, an illness which had festered and taken them slowly. It was more than that though…a child who belonged to them both - a child who was missing but alive. A child that his love had not told him about, they had told others they did not wish their child locked down to a single planet and perhaps even a single wonder, they wished for the child to grow and flourish and make their own choices and have the whole of the cosmos open to them. For that reason Venice had not sought out this child…had found someone else to have a child, and heir to his title, with. THis first child, the one born from love, would remain free and his one true love had wished for.
As the trance ended Venice knew that he was not descended from the second child of his ancestor but rather the first…the one born from love and raised in the cosmos. He knew this and yet his ancestor, who had moved on to be reborn, had no idea of this.
Reaching out to touch the code piece he smiled up at it. “At least you’re done screaming at me.” And no more feathers he silently thought. It felt better, so much better, the peaceful comfort of his wonder and its power settled in him as he stood up with stiff legs. Stretching, slowly, he let the blood flow as he started to move slowly. The way back up to the main floor of the theater took time, a ladder was kept in place for people to climb up easily, and the way out of main room was as quick as walking up an isle of rearranged and repaired chairs that were empty as they had been since his wonder had fallen along with the planet they were on.
