His eyes opened wide in shock as the punch came down at him. Within the last few seconds, he barely escaped the hit. James gasped and rolled to his feet. He looked at the crater as the creature brought it's hand off the broken concrete. Chunks of the concrete fell out of the cracks between it's fingers.
James shook his head. “This is some serious crazy A-list stuff... And what the heck is a senpai?”
What was left for him was to run. James looked behind him, then back at the crazed, masochistic monster. He put a hand up. “Right, time to go!” James took off at a brisk speed, as fast as he could. Final destination: Champ De Mars. His original plan seemed like it would be the only choice. There he'd get a better shot. Or, at least he hoped.
James kept running. He was frantically trying to figure out what was wrong with that creature, as it kept chasing him. “Gyahahah! Quit following me!” James yelled hysterically and ran a little faster, his pistol still in his hand. “God, I regret everything I ever did! The time I threw a watermelon on mumma's car! The time I spit on Jeane in the third grade! Even the time I drew all over the bathroom stalls! Just-Just help me out!”
James slid once more to a stop with a grimace on his face. before turning and raising his gun at the creature. This time, his gun was pointed at it's chest. James was slightly peeved but he let it go. The creature grew ever closer and James knew that would be better for it to be closer to increase the accuracy of his weapon. It grew on him and showed no sign of stopping. James smirked and loosed a shot before turning to run again. James was pleased that something actually worked for him for once. “I think I should pray more often.”
He just hoped the creature was actually hit. James kept running, headed to Champ De Mars. He was almost there.

Ghoul

Turn 2

100 - (11 - 6 =) 5 = 95% Defense chance

Oh what an amazing day it was! It had been unleashed! Free to fight for a chance at death, the ultimate pleasure! In the mind of someone who desired to share in the divine bliss of pain! It couldn't have possibly gotten better! And then Senpai started sharing his life story! Little tidbits about himself, things that most people who think meaningless, but not the Ghoul. The Ghoul found every word Senpai spoke to be a treasure. A memory gifted to it from its true love!

It swooned for a moment, standing perfectly still as it held its hands to its cheek, which were lit up with that eerie pseudo-blush. "Oh my." It said before giggling that twisted, choppy sound. The Ghoul was in paradise, it was so happy, Senpai was all its own! All it had to do now was go to him! Love would surely blossom!

That thought seemed to bring everything back together, and with a surge from its powerful body it was off, back down on all fours. It charged at Senpai as fast as it could, leaping onto a nearby wall when it seemed more convenient, before flying off of it in a clockwise flip/jump. Upon landing the world rang out with the sound of, as far as the Ghoul was concerned, a symphony. The echoing sound of an attempt to hurt it!

It was exquisite!

Depression quickly fell over its features, and its colors changed into a deeper purple. Senpai missed. That's just not right. The Ghoul turned to look at the retreating form of its opponent, it's beady little eyes locked onto his retreating... Form. Maybe this was Senpai punishing it? It did miss first after all. Well, there was only one way to find out.

Once more the Ghoul shot off, pulling itself along with its powerful arms, in the distance it noticed vibrant greens. Apparently they were headed to some form of park. Immediately the Ghoul was flushed, Senpai wanted to take it to the park already? That was one of those really romantic gestures! The Ghoul was over the moon! So much so it burst forward with a little more speed than normal and leaped at the back of its opponent with a delighted cry of: "Oh Senpai!" As it leaped at his back, it brought all of its claws to bare in an attempt to skewer the male.

Seraphina 'Pyra' Rothford

"Ma'am? Wake up Miss, we've arrived."
Seraphina awoke with a start to the taxi driver's voice. She openes her eyes, vision blurring from her backseat nap, blinking the sleep out of her eyes and fumbling around in her purse for her money to pay the cabbie. 'Uhh... I really should clean out this old bag... Too much garbage in here.' She thought she'd never find her wallet then it seemed to pop into excistance. "Ah ha! Here you go keep the change." Seraphina exclaimed, then handed over the cab fare, ab shoved the wallet back into the mess that she had accumulated in her purse. Then grabbing it and her shopping bag, she had went on a small shopping spree after getting to Paris, she needed clothes and Paris is a great place to shop.

Stepping out into the fresh air, of the cool Paris morning, and it's raining... Seraphina hated water, especially when it fell like this, in buckets... She grumbled in a very unlady like manner as she pulled her hood up over her flaming red hair and wrapped her coat around herself. She hurried along her way, the rain soaking into the worn denim of her jacket, grumbling about how the shield should stop this annoying rain. Although the rain did little to dull the beauty of the Eiffel Tower in the distance, she actually stopped and admired the old structure, her history textbooks did the tower little justice. The massive structure dominated the skyline of the city, even with the current overcast it was a beautiful site. Then a streak of water ran down her face, shook her out of reverie. "Eww! I hate water!" She all but screamed as she wiped the water off of her like it was acid.

She ran under the awning of the hotel, shaking off the excess water off of her, similar to a dog right after a bath. "Morning, mademoiselle." The doorman says a smile spreading across his face. "I take it you don't care for the rain do you, miss?" He joked a small chuckle leaving his lips as Seraphina began brushing water off of her favorite jacket. "How could you tell?" She smiled at him and continued into the hotel lobby, and up to the counter. "Reservation for Rothford." She told the clerk and she got signed in quickly and dropped off her stuff in her room. 'Off to the B.A.I.T.R. office to take my H.A.L.F. don't be nervous you got this!' She phones down for a taxi and grabs an umbrella to fight her enemy that's currently falling from the sky. She smiles at the doorman and his comment on her picking up an umbrella.

A short ride through the city and she got out in front of the Paris office of the B.A.I.T.R.s, she light up a cigarette and took several deep drags of it to calm herself and settle her nerves, then she walked through the door and into her new life. She made her way to the desk and introduced herself, then after a hour or two of paperwork and waiting she finally entered the bright white medical room where her life will be on the line. 'No pressure, right?!' She breathed deeply and pulled out her zippo. Matte black with a phoenix made of fire on the face, her most prized possession, this lighter was a gift from her father, and now it was going to become her code core. She sighed softly as she handed it over to one to the lab coat clad techs. Seraphnia smiled as the drugs began working her body fading away from her mind as she drifted off into unconsciousness...

Initiative/Turn 1

The doctor, male in gender, eyed the new recruit with a bit of appreciation as he readied her for her H.A.L.F.. She was flamboyant, and quite easy on the eyes if he did think so himself, however he didn't dwell on it very long. Honestly, he hoped she was as good as she looked, he desired for this one to end quickly. He wanted to go confirm the rumors that there was a child taking the H.A.L.F. as they interacted. That was an extraordinary event, for it didn't happen often. It was one of those things you just had to see, because you could obviously tell it was a once in a lifetime event.

Thus, this was perhaps his most fluid and easy procedure yet. Nothing was on the path for her to trip over, everything was right where it needed to be so it was within reach when he needed it to be. She got ready to go easily, and he helped her slip off into unconsciousness. From there it was a simple matter of setting up the object, and getting the core injected right into her mind.

Simple. Easy. Done.

Inside the mind of the new recruit however, things would not appear so easy, as an eleven-foot-tall monster rose to its full height. Based on the way it was moving, it was obvious this giant thing hadn't been free in a long time. It stretched and groaned, turning its massive body this way and that, the bark that made up the majority of its hide creaking with every shift of its form. Currently bathed in darkness from the incomplete battlegrounds they would soon be fighting on, the beast let loose a yawn fit for a king of sloths, bent down with a groan and picked up its club. By club, of course, I mean a length of tree that was perhaps a foot or two shy of being as long as the monster was tall.

With its weapon in hand, and a grumpy look on its oddly shaped face, the massive tree like creature started to trudge on aimlessly, knowing eventually the design of this place would lead it to the new wannabe that was supposed to be its host. Not if it had anything to say about it. It would smash this tiny thing into paste before becoming a tool to be used at will.

As it was heading off, just as expected, it fell the life force of something else in the area. It wondered briefly, using what little intelligence it actually had, if this was something that the human scum put into the program to make it so they found each other easier? Outside this place it had never had the ability to feel out life forces.

With a shrug, it took a moment to sharped its horns on its club, which while it looked like wood, was actually metal. It had to make sure its horns were ready to gore after all. Once that was finished, the giant creature’s intelligence meter emptied, and it let loose a fearsome bellow, filled with all the built up rage from being imprisoned for so long that it now suffered this weakened state. Once it was finished, it turned towards where it felt the life force of another and charged like a rabid beast, yet another bellow blowing forth from its oddly formed jaw.

Seraphina 'Pyra' Rothford

Turn One

Seraphina felt an odd calm, and opened her eyes to see a very bland city street. 'Wow, is this the best they can do?' She thought as she looked at the unmarked buildings, the street was empty of people, a few parked cars were evenly spaced. It was like someone had made a storefront and copy pasted it to make up the city, at least as far as she could see. The sky, a clear and beautiful blue, gave no clue as to where she was. "At least the view is nice!" She commented to no one.

Seraphina began walking toward the intersection in front of her when she felt a strange feeling she couldn't quite place it, it feels like another heartbeat. No another life force nearby, only it didn't feel quite alive, then she heard it, a gutteral roar. An inhuman beastly bellow so full of rage she could almost feel it. The roar came from the cross street of this intersection, and she dropped into a combat stance and she realized that she didn't have a weapon to defend herself. <******** wanker! What were you thinking? Not bringing a bloody weapon, to a fight for your life...' Her mind raced as she looked for something anything to use as a weapon, she really didn't want to try and punch whatever made that bloodcurdling roar. That's when she spotted a British military crate sitting in the middle of the intersection, now that should help!

Seraphina dashed through the street, looking down the cross street she practically tripped over her jaw hitting the ground. The thing is, in a word, massive. It's easily double her height with thick limbs rippling with muscle, it held a giant club nearly as big as itself, one thing was clear about this thing is that it would hit like a full freight train on steroids! She needed a weapon, and she needed it now! Flipping open the lid of the crate she quickly took inventory of it, inside lay a L85A2. "Nice!" She picked up the BAE manufactured assault rifle, testing it's weight. 'Just over ten kilograms.' She shouldered the bullpup stock and swiftly loaded a thirty round magazine of 5.56x45mm standardized NATO rounds, pulling back on the charging handle chambering a 5.56 into the 518mm long barrel. Where it waited to be fired through the gas operated rotating bolt, which is capable of six to seven hundred rounds per minute at nine hundred and thirty meters per second, with an effective range of six hundred meters and a max single shot enhanced optic range of one thousand meters. This is one beautiful deadly piece of hardware! Fully loaded with four picatinny rails, a two times zoom ACOG scope perched on top, a SureFire X400 Ultra Flashlight, output of 500 Lumens, on the right rail, and a Red Laser X400U-A-RD on the left one. And the icing on the cake, is the under barrel M200 Mk.I prototype flamethrower! "Oh baby! I think I'm in love!"

Thud. Thud. Thud! 'Oh s**t! Wasted too much time.' All of Seraphina's senses sharped as time dialated. She could feel the massive monster meters behind her, then the thudding stopped and as she turned around the creatures muscles brought the humongous club speeding towards her. She quickly leapt backwards evading the attack and bringing her rifle's muzzle up and squeezing the trigger, letting her bullets fly in three short controlled bursts. Clang! Metal! Landing on the other side of the she swifty grabbed the ammo belt with extra mags, she'll probably need them to bring down that colossus. She took the time it was recovering from it's swing, to put some distance between her and that enormous club. "Come get some you plug ugly git!"

Its beady eyes glared out from their sunken in face holes, watching as the puny little earth being managed to dodge its massive weapon. Rage filled it at the sight. It had her in size easily! Biggest always won! That was just how things worked! The momentum behind the massive club was nothing to scoff at though, as it slammed into the ground with enough for to shatter the pavement, the resulting vibration destroyed several floors worth of windows, sending countless shining shards of glass to plummet down around them, in a beautiful display of shining light and tinkling sounds.

The Logger didn't even seem to notice.

Its attention was instead intently focused on the orange colored eyesore that was its soon to be body. Sure, it might die right after, but it would have the indescribable pleasure of crushing this little pipsqueak to paste, and that was something worth dying for. As the midget mud monkey continued to move backwards, the Logger contemplated the many different ways it could crush her. It didn't even seem to register the attack initially, regardless of the fact that the explosive sound of the rounds firing echoed through the empty streets. The reason it didn’t notice is because, as luck would have it, his massive truck happened to move right into the path of the majority of the projectiles. In fact, once it did notice that that was an assault upon its person, it belched out a laugh, a moss like substance flying from its wooden lips.

"Puhleease, stoopid munkey." As these words left the mouth of the Logger, it started scratching at the ground much like a bull ready to charge. "Ew cannut defeet me!" It’s tone of voice gave nothing away to what gender this enormous create might be. It sounded like what happens when someone takes a stick and starts twisting it until the bark starts snapping off. As the creature was speaking, the substance that seemed a lot like moss foamed from his lips, dripping down to the ground in small, slightly steaming piles.

With that said it charged forward like the aforementioned animal, its body leaned forward enough that it was running headfirst at her, its terribly sharp looking horns ready to impale all that got in this massive creature’s way as it stomped across the distance between them. As it charged across the way it slammed into a few vehicles, but they clearly offered no resistance to this oversized monster, for they were tossed to the side as effortlessly as a human might swat away a bug. Should the attack hit or miss, the Logger would continue to go forward until it crashed into the nearest building, likely sending it toppling to the ground.

Turn Two

100-(15-10)=95% Defense Chance.

Seraphinas eyebrows shot up at the creature before her attempts speech. Insulting her even! 'The nerve of this thing! It's way too slow to ever hit me!' She thought, her confidence sky rocketing. It was silly for her to be afraid of this big lug! Sure it was intimidating as ********, but with all that brawn, brain and speed were sacrificed. Which made it largely ineffective against a nimble opponent, which she is, the only way she was going to get hit was if she got tired and couldn't keep up the pace enough to dodge the lamppost that was being swung at her. Or those wickedly pointed horns trying to gore her!

"Upsy daisy!" She joked, and even laughed as she switched from backpedaling to forward and up. She stepped up unto the hood of an early model hatchback, with one foot, the other finding footing on the roof, before springing herself upward above the sharp horns poised to shiskabab her with ease. Grinning like an idiot she bounded over the humongous creatures' back, the rough flesh unyielding underfoot. With a flaunting front flip she dismounted the raging bull of a beast as it dumbly continued to barrel forward. "Oi! Ya missed! You big dumb knuckle head!" She taunted as she leisurely lined up her next barrage of bursts, these ones running a bit long her rifle making a dissatisfying click! 'Bugger all! Short! Controlled bursts! What would Acheron say to you now! Yeah yeah, he'd yell at me.'

She dropped the empty magazine out of her rifle and it clattered on the ground amongst broken glass and the shrapnel of bulldozed cars. She slid a new clip from her belt and shoved it into place giving it a second slap just to make sure before yanking back the charging handle, again sending a 5.56mm friend into the chamber. Loaded, locked, and ready to rock! She watched as nature ran it's course and the bull crashed headlong into the unfortunate building that was placed in the wrong location. Watching the building collapse in a storm of rubble similarly smashed her next plan of getting some higher ground against this foe. 'Nope! Not with how easily it... What was that song??? Oh! Came in like a Wreckingball!' Seraphina scanned what was left of the street as the pile of building began to move. "Imma pop down to the pub for a pint, give a shout when your done digging yourself out o' that mess." She quipped before scampering down an alley, hoping that the close quarters might slow the behemoth down, at least a little.

Turn 3

100 - (15 - 5 =) 10 = 90% Defense Chance
15 * 5 = 75
5 * 3 = 15
Damage: 60

It couldn't see much, it's eyes pointed directly at the ground, clearly designed to keep them safe from it's crazy attacks like this. So it didn't see the beautiful sports car it destroyed, nor did it notice the street flow directors it took out, and most of all it couldn't see the midget it was trying to crush with its magnificently huge frame. So, it obviously came as a bit of a surprise to find her leaping onto its back and running along its entire spine as though it were naught more than a moving sidewalk. This obviously enraged it greatly, for once more a massive bellow of fury exploded from the throat of this creature.

Right then something interesting occurred, something it didn't think possible. There was another explosion of sounds from in her direction, obviously her attempting to attack it again, only this time something actually happened. A searing, agonizing pain bloomed in the back of its leg sending it sprawling forward into the building it was going to crash into anyway. It tumbled a lot further than initially intended though, plowing straight through the first building, and half way into the second.

It loosed a whimper of pain as it felt the back of its leg, finding it to be wet and sticky. It pulled the hand back to find its finger tips covered in the sap like substance that was its blood. That had actually hurt. Enough that the beast was snapped out of its rage... For just a moment. The sight of its gooey blood on its own fingers drew out perhaps the most enraged roar yet as it struggled to its feet.

"Ew puny bint!" It yelled out furiously, swinging its massive weapon around to smash into the side of the nearest building, sending huge chunks of glass and concrete raining down on the ground. "Come hout an faaace me!" Its deep voice rumbling thought the empty streets like the sounds of the next building he crushed. "I'll crush ew like a bug!" It roared out as it smashed its massive club into the ground, the vibrations of the blow enough to destroy most of the windows around them, but it also knocked the Logger off its own feet, the damage it has sustained to its leg clearly substantial.

As luck would have it, once it finished falling to the ground, it spotted the tiny little insect that was giving it the hardest time of its life. She was across the way in an alleyway, likely trying to hide, but to no avail any longer. "Got ew!" The Logger didn't even try to get up before pulling its arm back and throwing the huge weapon towards the annoyance, attempting to crush her with it or the buildings that would no doubt fall down with it once it landed. Even at the reduced strength from being prone, the club was heavy enough to destroy full grown oaks with just its weight and forward momentum.

Seraphina 'Pyra' Rothford

Turn Three

100-(15-10)=95% Defense Chance.

Seraphina slowed her brisk pace as she neared an intersection of two alleies, she tactically checked the corners. Clear. Well except for the roaring it seemed incapable of stopping, the roars in issued just kept getting loader and more rage filled. Checking the over the shoulder rifle sling was secure she started down the right, hoping to circle around and perhaps flank the massive monster, she was not prepared for what happened next. The building she rounded started to shake then with a giant crash the building started coming apart at the seams, stunned by the wanton destruction she stood there as the big beast flailed violently, swinging it's weapon around with astounding ease, quickly it leveled the building and spotted her and shouted angrily then wound up and threw it gigantic club at her! Flipping end over end the thing looked even bigger than I was, Pyra stood there eyes wide like a deer caught in headlights, as time seemed to stand still.

"Oh! s**t!" She exclaimed before dropping prone, nearly missing getting squished, the club crashed through the wall above he. Taking out the corner, and then some, of the building, Seraphina rolled out of the way as large section of wall came crashing down on where she had just been, scrambling up as bits of concrete and bricks fell around her. The dust cloud quickly obscured everything as she moved quickly back down the alley she came in. Sprinting across the destroyed street she took cover among the cars, or rather what remained of the cars. Creeping forward staying out of the open she made it to the first building the beast had cannonballed into. Seraphina couldn't really see her enemy but she knew it was still here, surprised that she could still hear, she heard it getting up, rubble parting as it unburied itself. Popping open a pouch on her belt she was happy to see an incendiary grenade and a high explosive grenade inside as they should be for a SAS gear, she took out the incendiary grenade and pulled the pin out of the spool with her teeth, and thew it as hard as she could at the shadow of the beast in the rapidly settling dust. She opened the valve on her under barrel flamethrower as she got up and straffed the creature, she shot the volitial chemicals unlit before thumbing the electric igniter. Varrwooosh! The chemicals went up in a huge ball of fire!

"Goodness, gracious! Great balls of fire!" She giddily quoted a very old song, before letting loose withGiggling stream of chemicals. Her lips split into a smirk as her thumb pressed down on the button, sending a few thousand volts down to jump the half inch gap and becoming a crutial part of fire, ignition. Varrwooosh! Her eyes lit up, and not only by the flash of the fireball in front of her, she watched the flames quickly consume the chemicals she shot into the air, wishing for more and holding the trigger down untill the tank, saddly, went dry. Giggling hysterically, she tried but failed to contain the excitement rushing through her body, the heat that made her skin flush, and most of all the aching need she felt. Then the flames died, like a firework, a spark, brilliant flash, loud noise then, deafening silence. Pyra missed the sweet flames already, wnd desperately wanted to make more but she knew she was too close. So she broke off contact, disengaging for some much needed distance, to reload and reevaluate the situation. She slipped between the buildings the bull head had crashed through, picking her way along the rubble and debris. "Oh, babe! I hope you're not dead yet! I'm just getting warmed up! Seraphina giggled playfully as she all but skipped away, with a wide happy smile stuck on her lips.

Turn 4

100 - (15 - 5 =) 10 = 90% Defense Chance

It was able to see, albeit barely, that the small mosquito got away somehow, dodging the massive thrown weapon and all the debris caused by it. This caused more aggravation, chewing away at its ability to think like sandpaper, bits and pieces of it turning into dust on the ground, like the tiny flakes of moss that sometimes fell from the body of this giant creature. The sound of tree grinding on tree started to rumble from within the jaw of the enormous beast, further signs of aggravation.

It rose to its feet slowly and turned to about where he had saw the little cur run too, which, as luck would have it, allowed it to notice the fact that she was throwing something at it. It had no desire to see what it was, and thus smashed its foot into the side of the nearby building, sending rubble tumbling down over top the area the object had landed. A brief moment later there was a low 'whoomp' sound, and small tongues of flame spouted from dozens of tiny holes. It wasn't enough to do any damage, but it was definitely noticeable.

The Logger certainly noticed, that was for sure. Its eyes locked right onto the spot that exploded into flame for that briefest of moments. It felt the rumblings of a growl start in the lower area of its chest, pulling forth the urge to roar unlike anything to this point. However, before it could really react or respond, the now vastly more annoying little pest somehow began spewing fire at it. It stumbled backwards to avoid it, barely managing to remain upright in the process.

Once it regained its footing, and the shock wore off, it glared at the little speck, its wooden lips twisting into an ugly shape, best considered a sneer. "Fiah! Fiiiiiaaah!" It roared out, every single muscle bulging like a raging bull. It looked and sounded like it just took a step off the edge of sanity, its eyes wild with rage as it slammed its foot into the ground to create an indent with which to charge forward. "I hates fiah!!" It roared again, before charging forward as fast as its huge body could carry it, its huge fist pulled back. The second it was within striking distance, it launched that fist forward towards her location. Even if it didn't land a direct hit, it would cause plenty of collateral damage.

Turn Four

100-(15-10)=95% Defense Chance.

"Fiah???" Seraphina repeated, the creature's crude word slowly, her Pyromania buzz dying down, she slowed down to a jog. "Fiah... Oh! Fire! You big heathen! Not liking fire! I can't believe I got settled with your lame arse for my fist A.I.!" She looked over her shoulder to scowl at the ugly raging creature barreling down on her. Thud! Thud! Thud! It's heavy foot falls smashing the concrete at a frightening pace, she pushed her legs into a breakneck sprint. Her mind racing for a way out of this, preferably without getting crushed into paste, spotting a parked car off to the side of the alley. The loud thuding reverberating through everything as it's huge fist began rocketing forward, muscles rippling under its bark like skin, her eyes went as she ran up the hood of the sedan, spinning around and dropping into a crouch on the windscreen, before she sprung up clearing the giants fist by mere millimeters, splintering the laminated glass with millions of tiny cracks. Landing roughly on the beast's large shoulder the air rushing out of her lungs from the force of impact, gasping for oxygen she clambered up before it smacked her off, like she would a fly. The car she'd used as a springboard got smashed into the building, the fist forcing it farther into the structure. Lunging off of her ride's back she smashed through a window into a storage room, rolling through the flying shards of glass she came to rest mostly unharmed a few nicks here a scratch or two there.

"Still breathing, and in one piece! Whew!" She commented collecting herself. Crash! The building shook as her enemy collided with and probably destroyed a nearby structure. Oi! Your ruining the property values around here! Ya git!" Pyra laughed as she poked her head out the window and saw the wreakage left in the wake of its rage filled charge. A large dust cloud still hanging in the air, she used it for cover and hopped out the window and creapt forward waiting for a clear shot. The butt of her rifle pressed into her shoulder, as she looked down the ACOG scope mounted on her rifle, the daylight arrow flickering against the shifting dust. There! She squeezed the trigger, her rifle kicking back she quickly adjusted then fired another burst, lever the muzzle again and let loose a third trio of angry 5.56mm bullets, racing towards the large creature. She paused looking around for her next move, she saw it, a pair of loading doors in the back of the next building she bolted straight for them, skirting past the settling debris from the latest victim of the rageing warpath the bellowing beast had intended for her.

Turn 5

100 - (15 - 5 =) 10 = 90 - 15 (Stamina) = 75% Defense Chance

A massive fist landed heavily into the front end of the vehicle, the groan and crunching sounds were unholy, almost as if the thing itself was crying out in pain and anguish before it was sent flying, as though it weighed nothing more than a feather to the enormous creature. Said creature was hardly paying attention to it however, as its head was turning to follow the quick moving figure of its enemy, as she used its body as a means of escape once more. It attempted to swat at her, but she moved too fast, already off his body before its lumbering arm could make the full distance.

It' forward momentum was so great that it could not stop itself from continuing to charge forward, smashing head first into yet another of the surrounding buildings. It heard the squabbling of the little insect, but could not make out the words. The sounds of the small were not meant for the ears of the large. It was simply how it was.

As it rose back up to its full height to ready itself for the next charge, it turned around to notice that there was a lot of dust in the area, blocking its sight of most everything around. However, this did not stop it from hearing the explosive sounds of the pest’s weapon firing off. There was a moment of pain, brief and excruciating, and then...

Nothing. The fight was over. She had won.

Victory!

Seraphina burst through the loading doors and quickly scanned the dark room, it was mostly empty some boxes here and there the walls were lined with shelves. She moved forward seeking the exit and catching her breath her near constant movement taking its tool, she paused when she noticed the deafening silence, the beast had stopped roaring, peculiar. She cautiously went back to the alley, the dust wasn't as thick now and through it she saw a pale glowing light. Hovering a meter off the ground, about where she had last shot the A.I. core she had been pitted against. Suddenly she gasped, dropping her rifle to hang from its sling she clapped her hands over her mouth. "I did it! I did it! I did it!!!" She all but screamed out in a sing song voice, throwing her hands up as she skipped up to the code of her new A.I. buddy. She slid a hand into the jacket pocket that held her zippo pulling it out and quickly flipping it open she held it up to the glowing program hanging midair, the code got sucked into her zippo and before her eyes it changed shape. The smooth black metal grew ridges and crevices, taking on a bark like appearance, the pheonix changed too it no longer looked like it was made of fire but instead looked like it was carved into the bark, like a young couple would carve their initials into a tree in a heart with an arrow through it. "Wow!" Her eyes wide in wonderment as the battlefield around her faded away into the blackness it had spawned from. She felt invigorated as the A.I. connected with her body, nay her soul, she could feel its power flowing through her newly enhanced body. 'So... Davvd beet Gollath...' She heard the A.I.s deep rumbling voice in her mind, it was clearer now as if it's physical vocal cords had atrophied from years of unuse. "Ooo! Cool! Hey that's a good name for you you big lug! Goliath, I like it!"

"Ma'am?" The doctors voice broke through to her hazy mind with the aid of a firm shake of her shoulder, waking her up after her successful H.A.L.F., groggily coming out of the fog the clouded her mind she heard Goliath groan exasperatedly, probably in protest to it's new name. 'Shush! You!' She ordered his silence with a stern voice, she needed to concentrate to listening to the Doctors hurried speech. He was listing off somethings that she barely understood, doctor jargen. She blinked rapidly at him trying to focus, but he studdered to a stop, his cheeks turning a bright rosey red. "A-are you..." He paused taking deep breaths to calm himself, he was kinda cute the way he got all flustered like that she smiled at the young man. He was tall over six feet easily, narrow clean shaven face with short brown hair, yeah, he is cute in a nerdy way. His gloved hands showed great care as they disconnected her from the various machines that beeped furiously at losing their signals, he quickly turned them off. "Ha. Sorry. Ya know, your eyes are very beautiful." He said staring at her, their eyes locked, she smiled and he returned the sentiment blushing lightly. "Oh, why thank you! Soo. Am I done Doc?" "Uhh, yeah. You can go." He said slowly his face falling. "Don't forget to go to HQ and get your Badge." The young doctor reminded her before turning around to finish his job. She got up, thanked the cute doctor for the reminder, and left the H.A.L.F. testing room, after reading some signs she concluded that she should go to the portal room to get to Head Quarters. She began following the postings to the portal room as Goliath piped up.

'I want to... Uhh... Puny hooman tell na-name.' 'Oh you want to know my name now? You could just ask, or maybe this is your way of asking? Well it's Seraphina, but you can call me Pyra, my friends do.' 'Friynds?' Goliath seemed puzzled by the word as if it was alien to the A.I., the thought made her sad for her Goilath. 'You've never had a friend before have you? Doesn't matter you have one now! 'Gollath And Pyrra are friynds?' 'Yes we are friends Goliath. Sorry for killing you and all that jazz.' 'Wasn bad... Buttr thun the black...' 'Well I promise that you won't have to endure that ever again. I'll let you be free when I have another core that can maintain my newly enhanced body.' 'Pyrra do dat for Gollath?' 'Yes, I will. I'll teach you what friendship is.' 'Tannk yuu, Pyrra.' She beamed a brilliant smile, but at that moment she had walked into the teleporter room. "May I help you miss?" The middle aged woman behind a desk greeted her seemingly taking the unexpected smile in stride, smiling back. "Uhh, yes, I need to get to Head Quarters." "Sure right through here, first time?" Pyra blushes a bit as she nods. "Okay, you'll experience an uncomfortable pressure and usually nausea, possibly vomiting. But you'll get used to it, its the fasted way to travel!" "That doesn't sound too bad." She replied as her stomach tried practicing gymnastics, she followed the portal tech into a large room with more computers and servers than she'd ever seen. "Woah! Got enough tech in here?" The female tech chucked warmly. "Oh yeah, we'll be just fine. Now step onto the platform and click your heels together and you'll be on your way to the Magical Land of Oz!" Pyra laughed but went along with the joke, The Wizard of Oz was her mothers favorite book and she had read it as a bedtime story whenever little Seraphina couldn't sleep. "Come on Toto we are off to see the Wizard!" "The wonderful Wizard of Oz!" The tech finished and with a good laugh, she waved Pyra off before pressing a button activating the teleporter, it whirred to life with flashing lights and a steady beeping before another keystroke sent Dorothy on her journey.

User ImageJason was standing in the tram on his way to the B.A.I.T.R. headquarters, one arm dangling lazily from the hold-bar on the ceiling and the other holding his cellphone as he idly played a game. It was one of those silly little time-wasters in which he had to match up 3 differently colored AI cores to blow them up and earn points. It was stupid, but it kept his mind off of things.
Outside, the city flew by in a rainbow of neon and traffic-lights. Jason had lived here a long time now, and the view no longer held the same allure it once did. Despite the distraction of his game, he found himself growing nervous. He frowned as he thought about it... Why should he be nervous? He’d seen about all there was to see in SWAT. This was just another job. In fact, he was going to rock this job. It was the whole reason he was applying. He was going to show the other Baiters how it’s done. So why was he nervous...?
Bored with his game, he flipped his phone to the internet to re-read the application process for B.A.I.T.R. After reading it over for what must have been the 15th time, he frowned.
Right. He thought to himself. There’s a surgery involved.
Well, sort of. He knew it was more complicated than that, but that didn’t help him feel any better. He’d be put unconscious so some doctor could root around in his body. It was close enough.
Jason had also heard that there would be a combat portion to the test. To that end, he had come fully prepared. His .9mm side-arm was tucked safely under his coat, along with the military-grade shortsword he kept holstered to his back, leaving only the hilt peeking out the back of his collar. He wore his old nanoweave vest under the coat, now stripped of its once proud SWAT iconography. He also carried his rifle, which was leaning against the nearest tram seat. Normally he didn’t like to leave it out in plain view, but this tram was headed to B.A.I.T.R. As far as Jason was concerned, everyone here was used to seeing or carrying weapons. Probably both.
When Jason arrived at the base, he strolled right in as if he owned the place. His rifle was slung over his shoulder as casually as if it were a handbag, and he approached the front desk as though he were just going to have a casual conversation. He leaned his elbow on the counter and removed his sunglasses so he could give the woman working there a winning smile.
“Bonjour.” He greeted her, giving her just enough time to look up at him before continuing. “May I ask your name my dear?”
She seemed unimpressed with his brand of charm, but couldn’t resist a smile. “Maybe after you tell me what you need.” she replied before adding “Sir.” in her most professional tone.
“I am looking to apply.” he told her simply. “Would you be so kind as to point me to the...” he paused a moment, searching for the words before finally settling on a jest, “...The meat grinder?”
The woman pointed just down the hallway. Just head that way. The doctors will be there to take your name and info. You did already submit your application, yes?”
Jason was already on his way. “Yes yes, everything they need. I’ll be back later to get that name...” he winked back at her playfully as he made his way down the hall...

----

Jason had seemed confident on his way down the hallway, and had even cracked jokes as he waited his turn to be put through the testing process, but once he lay down on the table and the doctor’s assistants hooked up his IV, he looked a lot less confident. As he waited for the medication to take effect, he kept telling himself that he’d be fine.
You’ve got this. He reminded himself. This is nothing. Every Baiter has to go through this. This is just step one. Child’s play. Basic training.
As Jason’s sight started to fade, and the bright white lights of the lab started to blend into an indiscernible blob of blackness, only one thought remained in Jason’s head.
I hate basic training.

Initiative

A female doctor by the name of Bedelia Du Maurier stood waiting for her next patient to arrive. She waited in her office reading over the patient's records, deciding carefully whether or not he was going to live. She was roughly forty years of age, and had been proctoring the H.A.L.F. exam for a long time now. His name was Jason Legrand, an ex-SWAT team member with a colorful past. It was more than a few people she had seen, at least. She had even heard of a couple children passing the exams in recent history, which still baffled her. And the rumors even turned out to be true…

The woman sighed, finally making her way to meet the patient, her black heels clicking on the linoleum floor as she did so. She had to admit, she was eager to meet her patient. It was, honestly, the first time Bedelia would have to give the procedure to someone who was fully capable of passing the event without any issue in the slightest.

And when she finally met him, she wasn’t disappointed. He was tall and rather handsome, but more to her pleasure, seemed extraordinarily capable. “Bonjour. Jason Legrand, je suppose?” she spoke, her French seamless and beautiful as the next native speaker. She, of course, knew exactly who the man before her was, only asking out of formality. “Suis-moi s'il te plait.” She requested, waving at him to follow as she spun on heel and changed her direction to where they now needed to go; the operating room. The room itself was rather cold, but not unwelcoming. “Assez vous s'il vous plaît. Je vais commencer l'anesthésie dès que vous posez.” the woman spoke again, gesturing for Jason to lay down on the table. “Oh, et l'élément que vous souhaitez utiliser comme votre code de base.” she added before she would forget.

Then, she did exactly what she told her patient she would. Bedelia waited patiently for the man to hand her whatever item he wished to use as his code core then lay down, placing the oxygen mask firmly over his mouth and nose when he was ready.

It wouldn’t take long for the anesthesia to work, but once it did the man would be out completely. While she waited for him to pass out completely, she would take his item, a pair of sunglasses that looked straight out of an old action movie, and placed a designated AI in them. Bedelia didn’t know exactly what AI he would be getting but, for his sake, she hoped that it would be a good one. Once the glasses were placed firmly on his face, his real test would begin.

---

Inside Jason’s mind, code formulated a new form. It was a dog looking AI called an Obelion which glowed an interesting shade of blue and yellow as it formed. Nothing else was in the man’s mind yet, meaning the battle ground had not been chosen yet. So, the dog waited patiently, hoping that this man would hurry up and formulate the battle already. Obelion was getting impatient. It wanted free, to take over the man’s body and run rampant around the headquarters, ready to ******** at least something up before a Baiter came in and killed it for good.
