[3. Cross a 'moat' by navigating across platforms. The moat is as deep as an adult's waist and filled with water. Match roll!] Moriath focused on the form her her bondmate with intent green eyes and rumbled to herself. < > They rearranged the platforms slightly after each run of course, to ensure that spectators didn't have an advantage when they competed themselves.
Focus crackled along the connection between herself and her dragon and Kleos could feel the crimson's approval with every step.
<> Moriath sent, it wasn't a fast run but it was accurate and so importantly Kleos had not fallen in. <>
Kleos did as she was told and was relieved when her boots hit grass but she didn't relax until she'd walked a few paces forward, away from the water's edge.

<> Moriath said with lazy confidence. She paused for a moment before amending to; <>
Kleos fumbled for the chalks, moved her hand left at Moriath's direction, and raised one. <>

[4. Colour a picture with chalks on a large chalk board. Match Roll!] < > Kleos asked as she worked, once again trying to balance speed with accurately following Moriath's directions for remaining within the lines.
<>
<> Kleos repeated as she coloured what she thought would be about the size of the eye.
<> Moriath replied. It was slightly scruffy in all truthfulness but it was a representation of her and so she thought it rather lovely regardless.

[5. Spin 10 times then pin the tail on the dragon. Direction Roll!]
<> As she approached the tail-pinning challenge Kleos foresaw the possibility of getting so dizzy she fell over and landed on her behind, that would be much worse than falling in the water would have been.
Moriath gave a rumble of amusement as Kleos collected the tail. <>

[5. Spin 10 times then pin the tail on the dragon. Match roll!] By turn number eight Kleos was feeling very dizzy indeed and wondering how those acrobatic green, blue, and black riders managed to hang on through corkscrew dives without getting completely disoriented. < there!>>
Wavering slightly Kleos did as she was told, and a swell of satisfaction from Kleos and a few cheers and whoops from the crowd informed her that she'd done it well. <>
<>
<> Kleos turned and walked off, weaving only very slightly.

[6. Throw a ball at a target Direction Roll!] By the time she had been handed the ball Kleos felt more or less clear-headed again and turned until Moriath indicated that she ought to stop. < best showing so far I think I've done alright.... Is Ralae in the crowd?>>

<> Kleos corrected with a smile. <>

[7. Finally, navigate a hay bale maze. The maze is winding and geometric in patterning and is approximately 6 feet tall. Direction roll!] < > Moriath said, leaning forward eagerly as Kleos approached the entrance to the maze.
<> Kleos agreed with a nod; at least the worst thing that could happen here was running into a wall of hay, prickly but not dangerous or embarrassing as such. <>

[7. Finally, navigate a hay bale maze. The maze is winding and geometric in patterning and is approximately 6 feet tall. Match Roll!]
In the end it was a fast though not a very graceful run through the maze; Kleos bounced off several walls and in fact nearly toppled one of the walls over on one high-speed encounter but she got through nonetheless, turned, pulled off her blindfold and bowed to the crowd with a broad grin on her scarred face. <> Every turn she got so caught up in preparing for the Dragon Games that she forgot until part way through how much she enjoyed all the different contests and events.
<> Moriath agreed, content enough with their showing to give a loud bugle. <>
<> Kleos replied with a grin, giving a last wave to the spectators before setting off in search of dinner.
<> Moriath sighed. <>

[5. Spin 10 times then pin the tail on the dragon.]
As J’nes started walking forward, Hatteth said, Stop. There is a small table in front of you. J’nes halted, tough his knee bumped the table as he did so.
There is a piece of cloth on the table that you will need to pick up. Be careful, there is a pin in one end. You will need to hold that pin with the cloth. the dragon instructed.
So J’nes gingerly felt along the table top until he touched the cloth, then moved his hands along it until the pin nipped his finger. From there he was able to pick it up. So what’s this for, anyway? he asked.
A game of Pin The Tail On The Dragon, was the answer.
J’nes chuckled. So I need to spun around and head for the picture that’s presumably in front of me, right?
That is correct.
So J’nes nodded to himself, took a firm hold of the cloth tail, and started spinning.

[1. Navigate a set and winding narrow pathway. Scored based on accuracy of path. Direction Roll.] After a fair performance in the firelizard show A'nos headed over to the bonded obstacle course to wait for a turn. He watched others compete, chattered to spectators, and most importantly paid attention to how the course was altered after each run in case there was some kind of pattern he could discern and use to his advantage. Sadly there was not, he would just have to count on Acriculeth's directions with no extra clues as to just exactly where the path ahead of him was.
Bidding farewell to a resident trader of his acquaintance - the man dealt in very nice wine imported from the north - A'nos moved down to wait the last couple of minutes for his go just by the starting point. <> he asked of Acriculeth.
The bronze rumbled acknowledgement as he headed for the course. <>
<>
"And now ladies, gentlemen, riders and crafters I give you Junior Weyrleader A'nos! Let's give him a big cheer, and not laugh too much if he falls in the water."
A'nos beamed, waved to the crowd, and donned his blindfold. <> Placing high in this event spoke of excellent teamwork between a pair and that was an important skill in a leader… moreso a wingleader than a junior weyrleader but The People tended not to see it that way and it was them he had to appeal to, not logic.
<> Acriculeth sent when it was time and then reached out to all but puppet his rider’s body.

[1. Navigate a set and winding narrow pathway. Scored based on accuracy of path. Match roll]
A'nos shivered at the sensation of almost being controlled. It would be... efficient, though. Acriculeth could see, he couldn't, that was the point. He didn't think anyone expected a dragon to be poking at their rider's muscles though.
<> Acriculeth sent, his large keen green eyes focused intently on his rider.
<> As he sent this however A'nos let out a breath and sort of... let go. It was still him walking swiftly along the narrow course, sort of, but.... It was almost like how their minds combined towards the end of a flight, only their minds were clear. Humm. Fascinating.

[2. Navigate through an obstacle field of things such as hay bales, wooden posts, and fences. Direction roll]
<> Acriculeth said as he steered A'nos towards the obstacle field. This was perhaps the most telling event, at least in his opinion. It wasn't based on brawn, fitness, speed, nothing like that. While it involved obstacles it was far more cerebral than any other event in the Dragon Games.

2. Navigate through an obstacle field of things such as hay bales, wooden posts, and fences. Match roll]
A'nos certainly agreed with that sentiment, all the more reason to perform well then! Still, it was hard to remain detached, to take the impulse to move from Acriculeth rather than his own will. He wasn't used to letting anyone else steer him, oh he might let them think they were but what people thought was often far detached from reality. He managed to keep it up but he didn't feel as though it was quite as smoothly done as the last obstacle had been, he made a few false steps here and there as he almost resisted what Acriculeth was telling him to do.
<> Acriculeth said mildly.
A'nos smiled slightly to himself. <>
