The acquisition of more coal was always good thing. Rota was getting closer to the upper echelon goal of 20 lumps of coal. He just needed a little more luck, and a smidgeon more determination. Rota pondered if he would ever meet the Figure, or if that was a goal that was unattainable. If the Figure was a god, then what was it doing here, and why bring him and possibly everyone else here? What was the purpose of all of this? Rota could ought but swing his pick and be an armchair philosopher about the whole situation.

As soon as the coal was there, it left once again. Oh well, Rota had proven that he could find more if he had a mind to. And right now he did. He remained ever vigilant that he could find the remaining three coal he wanted. He could scarcely believe that he had this much coal now. Three more pieces, then he could take a break. No matter what now, Rota had enough coal and iron ore to make what he needed. He just wanted to keep it an even number. He didn't think that was too too much to ask.

Again the sire's call of coal had gone cold. Rota was gaining iron and quartz just fine, but right now it was Coal that he truly 'needed'. He decided that after three more tries of gathering materials he would stop. Not even getting coal would reset this counter. If it was the Figure's will, then the coal would be delivered unto him. If not, then he was satisfied with what he got. With this resolution in mind, he brought his pickaxe down on the rocks, starting the stretch that would end this day of mining.

A Treasure trove had been found as the first prize of ending off the day. It was a great boon especially for the Coal that Rota so desired. Rota hoped that in these final two gatherings, he would reach the coal levels he was wanting to hit. Only time would tell if fortune would smile upon him, or if he would return to the village, mildly dissatisfied. He continued the heartbeat of the pickaxe and hoped that his luck would stay true.

Another Mother lode. With this, Rota had hit the 20 coal upper limit he wanted to reach. everything else beyond this was a bonus. he felt joy in his heart as he set aside the materials once more and lifted his pick for what would be the final time that day. It did not matter now what the mine gave him next, for it had already given him enough. The Figure oversaw this entire expedition, and for that Rota was grateful. He could not have done it this efficiently without its help.

Rota brought his pick down, and for the final time that day, he picked up a piece of coal. 21 coal was a sizable number to have, and he was glad to have it. He sat down and rested for a bit before moving to the mouth of the mine and carving into the stone with his pick Rota's Mine. He went back into the mine and sat by where the branch ended. The branch was about a city block long now, and that made him feel very accomplished. He slumped over, finally feeling the effects of his exhaustion, and passed out.

It HP was dropping so rapidly that Alyx imagined that it would not be a problem for much longer, and turned his attention to the next boar in line. If he could make quick work of these things, he could be on his way, and could finally explore the dungeon. He wouldn't fight the boss today, he decided. As much as he wanted to, he wouldn't kill the boss yet. He was probably strong enough to last for a while against it, if he had a mind to, but to be honest, he didn't feel like leaving his comrades behind. Rota walked around the perimeter of the village, waiting for Alyx. he couldn't wait anymore. He decided to take some matters into his own hands when it came to his skill. Rota was setting out to gather materials from deer, and if he fought anything else along the way, he would be ready to take them down.

Name:Rota Level:4 HP: 83/83 Rabbit HP: 10/10 Rota heard a rustling from the undergrowth. He prepped his Gloomsword for the deer, but when he reared out he found a Rabbit instead. It looked surprised that anything could be coming at it, and seemed like it wanted to run. As much as he would have wanted to let it go, Rota knew that he couldn't. Roll1 55(35+20) vs Roll3 50= hit confirm 55-50=5/4=1+4= 5 physical damage 1 poison damage. Name:Rota Level:4 HP: 83/83 Rabbit HP: 4/10 Rota had done substantial damage to the Rabbit, him cleaving a large slice from neck to tail on its left flank, but the hopping herbivore just refused to go down. With such a nasty cut, it started to move away. Rota couldn't let that happen. not because he refused to let something run from him, but because the animal was now suffering due to the damage he caused. The blade he used dealt poison, which meant even if the rabbit got away, that meant that it would be dealing with THAT on top of the battle damage. Rota was too kind of a person to see something suffer like that. He HAD to put the rabbit out of its misery. Roll1 51(31+20) vs Roll 3 90= Hit failure 1 poison damage to Rabbit Name:Rota Level:4 HP: 83/83 Rabbit HP: 3/10 Rota had missed. As he swung his blade towards the ailing bunny, it sprinted out of his reach and turned back to look at him. For some reason or another, Rota could see that it wanted this. That was the only explanation. Tears in his eyes, he knelt on the ground, sword laid flat in front of him Bushido style and watched the rabbit leave his range. he couldn't do anything to stop it. 1 poison damage to Rabbit Roll is for an encounter Name:Rota Level:4 HP: 83/83 Rabbit HP: 2/10 GONE Rota contemplated that. He was an artisan, not a warrior. Alyxandeyr was a warrior. He inspired those he fought alongside and defended them with his life, using the techniques that he had gained fighting presumably on his own in an untamed wilderness. Rota had gumption, cockiness, and wit. he didn't have the talent to last on his own. His biggest success would be living vicariously through the actions of others, being the footnote in the story of the ones who used his blades. The name "Rota Emptiet Abyssian" would be above no door save for an asterisk. the sign that he was piggybacking on the talent that others possessed where he could only make nice things for them. Rota grabbed his sword in rage. This would NOT be his destiny. The figure had told him that he was not good enough YET to be where he saw it. Rota had questions that needed answers, not the least of which being what the figure's intentions were. He needed an explanation, no, he DEMANDED an explanation. Rota roared a challenge out for the woods to hear. "I AM ROTA ABYSSIAN!! If any beast dare take me on I say GO AHEAD!!" Rota stood to his feet, shouldering his sword while hunching over in a pose that made him look ready to charge at any second. "I am the master of my OWN destiny! Name:Rota Level:4 HP: 83/83 Rabbit HP: 10/10 As Rota roared his challenge, another rabbit popped out of the undergrowth. Surely fate hated him. He prepped his sword as it sat stunned at the young demon in front of it. Every muscle in its body told it to flee, and every intention in Rota's was to make damn well sure that the first rabbit running was not repeated. He hefted his sword in front of him, readying all of his muscles in his arms to strike true. He knew that these animals didn't fight back, so he could be aggressive. Rota thought back to the look that Alyx was giving him when he was doing that against the Super Boar. That look was filled with acknowledgement that he was ballast, a greenhorn to combat who couldn't hold his own without someone to protect him. No more. he would stand on his own two feet, Alyx or no Alyx.
