[ Dormitories - Ever]

"What does it mean?" Ever's response was a mumbled one, unhappy and uncomfortable -- and maybe his weapon didn't talk much, either, but he still noticed the absence. It wasn't an active thing: he didn't sit up and wonder where the familiar presence was. Instead he lay, sprawled diagonally across the bed, not making any visible effort to get dressed himself, and probed at the feeling himself.

It was like a loose tooth. Like a missing tooth. He just generally felt shitty.

"Find out what's going on, Zeke." He rubbed at his face, hot and shaky, still half under a sheet.. "Ask in the hall."

Jacob, his body in peak bean-pole condition, was promptly knocked off his feet, and try as he might, wasn't able to save face by turning his tumble into a dodge-roll. He might have yelled at the guy to watch where he was going, but he was more unnerved that whatever was happening, it merited people running through the freaking hallways.

"Yeah, I get that! Definitely not safe." he replied, pushing himself off the floor, and following close behind the pair. "What I don't get is what is actually happening. I can't summon my weapon."

So Wilson’s hunch about Lucky knowing something had been right on the money, how fortunate. Unfortunately, he didn’t like what the other man was saying. He ran a hand through his hair before crossing his arms while trying to digest everything. “Okay, so.” A pause as a hunter he didn’t recognize didn’t to join the conversation.

“If Lucky knew a cure, I’m sure he wouldn’t have been panicking as much as he had been earlier.” A dry look to said-hunter, and the mention of not getting sick compelled Wilson to bring his hand up to Lucky’s forehead to feel his temperature. His expression revealed nothing as he pulled his hand back. “So, don’t get too sick. How difficult could that be?” Apparently they were all starting to come down with something and were still functioning normally. All they needed to know was how far was the threshold?

A serious look to Shiloh and he pointed to his forehead. “Actually, some more elaboration on this it would be appreciated for once. Just throw all your speculations out here. We'll sift through the unnecessary information if we have to. I just want to know as much as I can so we can figure out what to do.”

[ Bradley ]

He listened as Lucky and Wilson, and some other guy talked. This had happened before. This wasn't something new, and Lucky was sure they were under attack. Bradley must have been under a rock during that. So being sick was bad. Try to not get to sick, obviously. He could do that. Maybe.

"Well then... I guess don't cough on people or start puking." The tall hunter commented, looking at Shiloh and and the group. A lack of being able to talk to his weapon wasn't helping.

"Were you unable to talk to your weapon the last time this happened, Lucky?" he asked, fingering that earring again.

courtyard

Dawson made a sympathetic wince. "Tummy's a lil' restless too," he said, and admitting it just seemed to make the feeling worse. Or maybe he was just working himself up too much.

Keeping an eye on Chance in case he decided to collapse or something, Dawson followed him over. While their interactions had been a little strange as of late (had he missed something? even during the strange effect, something had seemed off), his concern for her was still evident in these uncertain times. Maybe a little less so for her buddy.

Well, until she turned him over and he looked downright awful. Awesome.

"Keep his head up n' stuff," Dawson suggested, his brow furrowed. "Should we get him s-some water, ya think?" He cast a nervous glance at the wall of thorny vines fencing them in, wondering if it was somehow listening in on every word.

Dorm -> Courtyard

He didn't look all right, but hearing him say it was enough to satisfy her, at least a little, because he was in front of her, talking and alive, and that was what seemed most important at that moment.

"Oh...." Her face flushed a little. She wanted to tell him to kiss her anyways, but she bit her tongue, her hand squeezing his more tightly instead as he tugged her along. "Oh, yes, of course." She used her free hand to push her glasses up, and followed along, her fears of going out into the hallway now vanishing, because if Aro had come in from out there, unharmed, then chances were it was safe, right?

But then he jolted in front of her, and she ran into him from behind, her nose smooshing into his back as she let out a startled sound, reaching up to rub at it while looking around him at whoever he was speaking to.

"Oh, hi." She gave a brief smile, lifting a hand in greeting

"Ohhhh, you too?" She asked, as he began to follow along with them, Aro tugging her along once more. "I...I can't hear Rorric. It's most upsetting."

One foot on, Zeke paused and straightened to turn a puzzled look down tot he man beside him. Of the two of them, Ever was usually the quicker to wake, the dutiful. That he had barely moved, let alone showed more discomfort than concern, just didn't seem right.

With a frown her reached over to touch his shoulder, then frowned deeper at the warmth beneath his fingertips. "I thought we couldn't get sick," he mused idly, pushing curls off Ever's brow to feel his forehead. Warm. Too warm. "You have a fever."

They still needed to know what was going on, so with a small sound of frustration he returned to his previous task of doing up his other boot. "Whatever it is, you're probably going to have to get up." There was a note of apology to his voice as he stood up and went for the door, poking his head out to stop the next person passing to ask them what was going on.

He didn't get much in the way of answers. Turning back, he closed the door again before leaning against it and bringing both hands up to rub over his eyes before combing fingers through his hair. "State of emergency." That had been about the only concrete thing he'd managed to get from the wide-eyed trainee that'd been rushing past.

Quinn - Courtyard

His mouth opened once more, another question about to be fired at lucky, instead all that came out was a Squeak. An all-too-familiar voice was soon folowed by a shoulder grab. Ian always loved to grab him, Ian was to touch as butter was to toast, they just were constant companions. He had forgotten that about him, Maybe Quinn really did need to see the light of day more often.

"Oh uh-" He turned around, suddenly facing Ian and Shiloh and (giving lucky the break he might need). "There was a lot of paperwork and..." Truthfully, Quinn might have found himself buried in paperwork hell over in Death Division. He always thought these rumors about mission reports and paper pushing were a myth, boy was he ever wrong. He might have ranked up, but for a while he was the 'new kid' all the same. His hands dont miss the papercuts.

He looked to Shiloh hoping his knowledge of death divisions love for mission reports would back him up.

It wasn't until an unfamiliar face piped up that he realized the thing that had been bothering him this whole time in the back of his mind. Oki, his weapon, was rather quiet.

[ Dormitories - Ever]

At least Ever didn't argue -- though for a moment he just sprawled there, grumpy and uncomfortable, the world spinning just faintly. It had been a really long time since he'd been sick, and it wasn't a comfortable feeling. For years of his life, this had come and gone; he'd been sick almost as often as he'd been well, and it wasn't really something he wanted to revisit.

He only needed a moment: then he shifted, reaching off the bed for his pants, to haul them on in a blurry and distracted sort of way. "Great. They couldn't have waited until morning?"

But he'd get dressed. Get himself on his feet. Rubbing at his eyes.

CHANCE - COURTYARD
Chance winced a little sympathetically, kneeling down in front of Maebe and Otto, the latter of whom was clearly asleep. It was somewhat of a relief, though if he remained asleep, it would prove problematic if they had to move somewhere fast.

"Yeah, seems like there's a lot of that going around," he said with a sigh that shuddered through him unpleasantly. "I feel like s**t. And yes, you make a beautiful Moon," Chance added with a smile. "I'm glad he's not dead, I'd be severely disappointed if he was."

He put a hand on Otto's shoulder, just to reassure himself of his breathing as he squinting at him, and then let it fall away as Chance's eyes flickered up to Dawson.

"Is there anywhere we can go for water?" he asked, his gaze following Dawson's to the vines. He was unaware of any of the tension that might have laid between him and Maebe, instead trying to keep the dizzy nausea at bay. "What the ******** are these vines? It's like being stuck in a prison or something."

ARORANGI - DORMS
He'd laced their fingers together, Arorangi giving Lydia's hand a reassuring squeeze. It was partly to make sure that she was still there, but partly also to reassure himself. Without Ori in his head, he felt strangely ill at ease, and Lydia's sold, warm presence made things much easier to bear.

"Yes, neither can I," said Arorangi to his accidental run-in. He didn't recognize the face, but he gave him a pleasant smile anyway, in case it might help set him more at ease.

"I am Arorangi, by the way," he said, as cheerfully as possible, as he herded the pair of them down the hallway. "This is Lydia, are you a new trainee or have I just not met you yet?"

Maebe's eyes flickered to Dawson the moment he decided to speak, even if it wasn't really at her. It was just helpful advice, meant to help the person who really needed it. Because, she reminded herself, Dawson was just a nice guy. So she tried very much to treat him as just a nice guy. That was what she'd promised herself.

His eyes went to the vines, and she finally noticed them, but at this point she was already on full alert. "I think what he needs is for us to find out what's wrong with everyone, and what that s**t is. It's probably making everybody sick." She smiled smugly. "Well. Except the really cute ones. We're clearly immune." But that meant she was insulting Chance, and that was unacceptable. So she leaned up and patted him on the knee. "Don't worry, big guy. Maybe you were just too pretty not to get infected."

Yes. The best Moon. The most diligent, work oriented, helpful Moon on the planet.

"Does anyone else feel like we're being herded? Because if these vines come any closer, we're all about to get better acquainted with each other, real fast."

A pause, and then. "And does anyone have a god damned cigarette I can bum off of them?"

COURTYARD

The courtyard is teeming with confused, angry, and scared Hunters. Everyone seems to have delegated, as much as possible, though there is no sign of most if any, of the leads, or assistants.

Most Hunters seem to be looking at the wall of thorns surrounding all of Deus, speculating with each other what could be happening. Some hack at it without much success.

There are a few Hunters running around the perimeter of the courtyard, looking for openings. One of them suddenly doubles over, coughing violently. He passes out, in cold sweat. The other Hunters don't seem to notice, perhaps it is too dark.

DORMS

A lot of the dorm rooms are closed, signalling that many Hunters simply never woke up. Perhaps it is simply the chosen ones that woke to this very specific nightmare.

A couple of Hunters are slumped against the hallways. There are no signs of injury, but they are shivering and sweating, signs that they were not in any restful state of mind.

If anyone dared venture to the third wing, where the division leaders usually rested, all their doors were open, but there were still no signs of them. There were however, obvious signs of a struggle. Broken glass and blood litter the hallway, along with a good amount of bodies suffering severe injuries. Hunter bodies. Unrecognizable Hunters, perhaps ones that were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Jacob. You can call me Jake, and yeah, I'm a newbie. And, you know, as a newbie, feel free to clue me in. If a whole buncha people can't summon their weapons, what do? We keep a stash of guns and silver bullets somewhere?"

It just wasn't fair! Here he'd had a perfectly awesome weapon, and now he couldn't use it, couldn't even talk to it! Without Wrong Way, this Hunter gig had turned into a game of Dark Souls. With permadeath. It reminded him of life before he'd been chosen, and Jacob was not going back to that!

"I dunno," Dawson answered Chance helplessly. Just because he could throw out suggestions didn't for one second mean he was capable of moving himself. Maebe's suggestion of being penned in certainly didn't help his mood.

Frowning, he began, "Mayb, this ain't a time t'be smokin'--" and then abruptly stopped. Someone hacked and coughed loudly, and as Dawson turned towards the sound he heard a hunter crumple to the ground. So many alarm bells were ringing in his ears that it was amazing nobody could hear them.

"M-Medic! Someone went down! Where're the leads?" he asked everyone assembled frantically.

Dorm -> Third Floor?

She nodded as Aro introduced her, and again when the new hunter gave his name. "It's nice to meet you!" She chirped up, smiling a little wider now than before, though that was quick to subside as the reality of their situation settled back in.

"Well no...not exactly. There are runic weapons, but you have to be cleared for them before they'll let you even touch them." And Lydia, thus far, had not been cleared for a single one.

Suddenly, a thought occurred to her, and she stopped walking, tugging on Aro's hand to get his attention. "Should we check upstairs before we go outside? We...we have no orders, and the leads rooms...." Her voice trailed off. "I just wondered if maybe we should go and look, their might be somebody up there that can tell us what to do."
