"What sorry? This is interestin'." Otto remarked, impatiently watching him set up; his legs crossed and his hands on his knees. "You ever been to a planetarium? Can you like.. actually see stuff on the planet in them?"

Otto seemed to give planetariums a bit too much credit for their strength. Perhaps they were super powered.

"I didn't know you could see that many planets from here. Mars is the closest, right?"

I wish I knew s**t like this, he pouted idly. He felt a little stupid in comparison, but his curiosity was stronger than the shame.

"I've been to several," said Chance, still sounding a little winded, like he'd been running instead of just talking about space. "But no, not really, you'd have to take pictures from a space station or, say, the Mars Rover to get a feel for what the surface is like, and even then some things are just too far away to be explored."

He shifted backwards and sideways a little, the telescope now in place.

"Mars is the closest, yes," said Chance with a smile, gesturing Otto over. "I've always been more interested in the constellations than the planets, though, so I tend to know more about them."

Otto shuffled closer, taking a peek into the telescope.

"If the planet is always spinning, how come the constellations are always in the same spot?" Again, he felt like an idiot, but he was more comfortable with Chance than, say, some random space guy. He wouldn't get looked down on or judged for being stupid. Otto's curiosity could get fed safely.

"How does that ******** stuff stay floating..." He mumbled to himself as he looked at the stars. "Think planets or galaxies ever.. like.. smash into each other?"

"Stars do tend to move a little, but they move all at once, unlike planets," said Chance amiably. "Or at least, that's the theory. While the stars do appear to change position in the night sky, they do so all together. Planets move in specific orbits independent of the motion of the stars; they also tend to follow the general path of the ecliptic, which is the imaginary path that the sun follows across the sky from east to west."

This was the sort of thing that Chance craved knowledge for, drank in greedily until he could know almost anything, in spite of there being no possible way to know everything. But he had always enjoyed learning, and his studies of the skies had taken that to an entirely new level.

"I always wondered that myself," said Chance, glancing upwards at the inky blackness above them, glittering with millions and billions of lights. "Like...I know most things have a regular path, but I wonder if any of them just like...go off course suddenly, you know, like a car, and then just..."

He made a gesture with his hands, a soft sound effect of an explosion escaping.

Some of the words that came from Chance went over Otto's head entirely. Still, he felt like he'd learned something. He eased away from the telescope after a while, and chose to watch the sky with human eyes. The way the blended and formed streaks of light and colour.

Chance's sound effects with met with a snort. "Boom. Space jam." He said with a serious nod.

He snorted with laughter and sat back down near Otto's feet, Chance leaning back to stare skyward once more.

"Space jam, party up in there," he said with a laugh, but he was restless, fingers itching to move, and he got to his feet again, pacing back and forth with his gaze directed upwards, face flushed with pleasure at the sight of all that lay above ********, it's gorgeous out here."

Otto wasn't nearly as restless, half watching Chance putter about. "You're like a puppy or some s**t." He teased with a smirk. The man was pretty animated about the sky. How humans came to be attached to certain subjects was amazing in itself. Otto couldn't spout facts are say anything smart, but he had his own passions and interests he enjoyed without words or explanations. And that was enough.

He smiled to himself, laying down on the ground with his hands behind his neck. The fire crackled loudly, the bugs buzzed and the sky was alive with light.

"Sorry, sorry," said Chance with a laugh, shaking his hands out beside him as he paced. "I tend to get - well, I said, I tend to get worked up when it comes to the stars, and it takes me a bit to calm down, otherwise I just sort of channel all of that excitement into, uh, other things, so I'm just, you know, getting it all out."

He slowed and smiled down at Otto.

"I still haven't gotten to hear you play, but I would assume that how you feel when you drum is similar to this, kind of, maybe."

Other things.... either Otto had a dirty mind, or Chance was trying to work off something more than just a little extra energy. Otto wasn't sure if it would be appropriate to laugh or not.

Otto shrugged. "It makes me happy. Dunno if I get as jittery as you do about it." Then again.. "Drummin' takes a lot of energy as it is, though. By the time I'm done, I'm ready to crash."

He stared at Chance a little longer, wondering if maybe he really had just gone into the gutter or not.

Chance let out a laugh, resuming his pacing for a few more seconds. He glanced up at the sky and then back down at Otto again, a restless grin on his face.

"I don't really know why it affects me the way it does, but I guess just because I don't have much else that I'm passionate about, it kind of just." Chance waved his hands. "overflows. It's just a lot of extra energy that I'm seriously not used to, which makes it harder to handle."

"Well, I'm just glad you got somethin' you're passionate about. Even if you gotta run laps or do push ups to deal with it." If Chance worked on it enough he'd end up buff or something. Kind of weird to imagine, truthfully.

"But you're makin' me antsy pacin' around like that. Sit your a** down, dude."

He laughed again and did a few more quick paces back and forth before he finally collapsed next to Otto, flopping down onto the ground.

"All right, all right," he said breathlessly. "I'll just...lay here, then. Maybe."

He rolled onto his stomach and smiled against his arms, prodding Otto's arm with a black painted finger.

"Pushups are too much effort, but running laps seems like it might be a good alternative to the contrary."

"Man you're hobby is just soundin' more complicated by the minute." He teased, looking over at the fluff head after being poked. "Push ups aren't that hard. Just gotta practice. You need some more upper body strength." He playfully jabbed at the man's arm right back.

"It's only complicated because I make it complicated," Chance groaned good-naturedly. "That seems to be where I ******** up the most, unfortunately." He batted at Otto's hand.

"Also I have no upper body strength, alas. I am mostly just a beanpole. My only exercise comes from shooting a bow and arrow and sex, mostly, though the latter of those has been relatively few and far between, surprisingly."

"Sad, bro." Otto flopped his arms back again, letting his gaze fall on the sky. "I kinda have to stay fit. Tenya demands it." She was huge, for sure.

"I don't remember how long it's been for me. No girlfriend, no sex." Though admittedly, the last person he had sex with was not his girlfriend.
