1"She's very likely dead," Sindri said outright, brightening mildly. "Are you going to perform a funeral rite? May I attend?" Carefully she plucked a small red flower growing from a crack in the ground and pocketed it away with the air of someone who had accomplished what they'd set out to do and was ready for the next adventure. "I could coax her Last Fear into a trinket for you." Like a particularly un-emotive parent coaxing a child. 2The soft click was followed by Bob's yell as he fell through the sudden hole in the ground. Ever, just barely missing being dropped down himself, must choose to climb down after Bob or carry on to the next chamber. 3"Hmmm...perhaps not then," Nest considered Cee's protests. "I will take this life, worth so little." A smile, in a motion of ancient pages bending to a new reader. "So replaceable."She paused as Bob, unconscious was dragged in by the familiar figure of one Jack Hawthorn. "Are you sure you're worth so little? Not even this one...?" note to self Tunnel 1: Zeke and Paige Tunnel 2: Ever Tunnel 3: Carl and Beth Bob and Cee Tunnel 4: JaimeTunnel 5: no one

Bob lost consciousness as soon as he hit the bottom, head cracking on something and leaving him dazed. Cee bit her lip, feeling panicked now. She looked at her skin, still too old, and at the ambling figure that looked like a guy she'd seen around the island. Thankfully she was acquainted with the concept of clones but it made her itch to fight again. There was something very wrong about them. The body dragged forward made her stomach flip and then suddenly ease. It wasn't any of her friends it was just Bob. How easily she categorized people. She knew she was what some would call a bad person. She'd been acquainted with that since she was a kid, since she'd steal boyfriend just to watch other girls suffer, since she'd start fights over things like copying her style or haircuts. People either meant something to her or they meant nothing. Bob meant nothing. Even as he groaned as he was dragged, as blood trickled from his head wound and his leg twisted from the fall. Cee didn't feel the sympathy that others would say she was supposed to have. All she could think about was that he could possibly give a little bit of his life, maybe all of it, so she could get back to normal. "Take him too.." Her fingers twitched, picking at her manicured nails with audible loud clicks. Her voice was soft, almost reticent. "He's no one to me."

Paige let out a noise; it hovered somewhere between absolute agony and blackened rage. No, Cee wasn't dead. Paige would know. She would know because they were best friends, or maybe Cee was more than that to Paige -- but Paige would know if the other woman was dead. Cee was the closest thing that Paige had to ******** family aside from Zeke, and Paige would know. It would be like a dim bulb finally giving way with a low, distant pop. "She ain't dead," Paige half-snarled, watching Sindri pick the red flower from the ground. Oh, how her fingers itched to summon Harle; the weapon was seething, vivid yellows and searing reds. "She ain't dead."

It wasn't Ever's intention to throw himself after a man he'd barely known a few days, and it certainly wasn't a choice that made him follow. Instead, as Bob disappeared down the trap door, Ever simple reacted. He stumbled forward a bit to look, leaned forward because there was nothing to see and, well. He lost his balance. Ever at least struggled to guide the fall that followed as he tumbled down in Bob's wake. lizbot I accept that this might do some damage >_>;;;;

The enraged outburst from Paige was expected, and Zeke tightened his hold on the back of her jeans, fingers pressing into the small of her back as he drew her in a little closer. A silent agreement, or a reassurance, maybe both. Where one Mist was visibly ready to leap at the horsewoman, the other remained seemingly calm and collected. Paige would feel the tension in him with how close she stood to him, but it wasn't obvious to petite form addressing them. "If that were the case," he finally ventured, voice cautious. "If we wanted to preform funeral rites, would you take us to her?" Hard to know if it was the wisest choice, but it seemed like the one most likely to lead them to Cee. If this horsewoman knew where she was, and could show them, it would be worth not drawing down on her here and now. If not? Well, they could always attack later. He wasn't entirely sure what to say in regards to a trinket formed of a Last Fear, but since he was as of yet unwilling to believe Cee was really dead, it didn't matter.

1"Yes, I will guide you," the horsewoman nodded with gracious dignity. Turning she began to walk around the shallow pool to one shadowed corner of the cavern. "Stay away from the waters, the purity is greatly prized." This was bullshit. "This path is a shortcut to the Mother's most favored room for the slaughter of many and many more." Also bullshit, this was her first visit and she'd entered by the same path they had. But considering Famine's general reputation, it was a good guess that every room held something that would happily kill humans. Quote: Should they follow Sindri: roll 1d20 to determine how lost they get Should they not follow: they can always backtrack to one of the other paths or take some other action. Roll1d20 to determine their success. 3There was a good chance of Ever suffering a similar fall and capture as Bob, leading him to being dragged along a minute after the other hunter. But there was also the chance of Ever managing a lucky and undetected fall, allowing him to safely observe or even disrupt Cee's decision and Bob's loss. The student placed hands on Bob, murmuring irritably that it felt more natural when they struggled at first as the Jack clone stood watching with a vacant expression. note to self Tunnel 1: Zeke and Paige Tunnel 2: Ever?????????? There were any number of things that could likely go wrong from following the horsewoman--she could have been luring them into a trap, she might not know where she was going, she might have been sent to delay them--but on the chance that she did indeed know where Cee was, and was not actively trying to attack them, it might just be worth following. They would, of course, have to stay on high alert, but since they both seemed wound tighter than a watch spring, that shouldn't really be a problem. Zeke gave Paige's back a gentle nudge to get her moving ahead of him but whenever possible his hand lingered. A reassuring touch to let her know he was still there, so she didn't have to divide her attention between where she was going, and where he was. As requested, he kept his feet away from the water. It was he mention of slaughter that had him frowning as he curled a finger through Paige's belt loop again. "How long is this going to take?" This was directed to the horsewoman. pinchmonster summon the liz on your tag.

Ever didn't land on his head, at least, when he hit the bottom, but he also didn't exactly land well. In the best of times, he wasn't the most graceful human being, and when he was tumbling head-over-heels, he was even worse. He hit the ground, hard, feet-first, and he heard something crunch as he went down. At least it was distracting enough that he went silent instead of crying out, breath stollen by the tumble, and maybe his collision would go unnoticed and ignored. The question, then, was just how he'd keep exploring. He needed to sit, just for a minute, before he'd try to get up and limp his way deeper, leaning against the wall.

Paige fought the urge to spit in the water for the simple reason that it was considered sacred. Harle flashed like a wild thing in her mind's eye, a brutal cacophony of horrible colors; nothing more than a seething beast that demanded freedom. "Can we walk faster?" Paige sounded like an impatient a*****e, but that's because she was. In a low aside to Zeke she murmured, "I got a bad ********' feeling about this."

Quietly as well, Zeke answered. "I've had a bad feeling sense we left the base." Or rather, to be more accurate, since he woke up on the ladder that first morning. "Let's just go with it for now."

???The dark and narrow passage seemed to spiral downward until a steep set of steps led them up once more. "Humans are very impatient," she noted with calm warmth. "Your time is brief and limited so that is wise, but do not be careless in your hurry." The chiding tone was one she sometimes took with Lurks Beneath before he managed to earn, unknowing, some form of penance to appease her unspoken ire. While they traveled she told the two of gruesome Famine rites and traditions that she'd made up on her journey to this lair, but were spoken of with such muted but sincere enthusiasm that it would be hard to truth from falsehood. Even for her. After a very great long while that likely lasted much longer in their worried state than it truly was, Sindri came to a dead end and turned her gaze back to the two hunters. "Now you must prove your strength against this wall," she intoned sagely. Outside of 3Ever goes unnoticed as Bob awakens and begins to scream, the sound fading into pained croaks after several minutes. note to self Tunnel ???: Zeke and Paige Tunnel 3-ish: Ever Tunnel 3: Carl and Beth Bob and Cee Tunnel 4: JaimeTunnel 5: no one

There was no response to that chiding comment, at least not from Ezekiel. He continued on in silence, watching and listening for anything that wasn't them or the woman leading them through the maze of a lair they'd found themselves in. Lagertha was uncharacteristically quiet as well, but her disapproval over the situation was thunderous. At what point did he throw Paige over his shoulder and make for the day light again? They couldn't leave without Ever, of course, but they didn't have any clue where he was now. Splitting up had been an awful idea. Through narrow halls, up steep stairs. His sense of direction was lost before they'd even started, and the horsewoman spent the whole of their trek speaking of rites and traditions that seemed gruesome and archaic. Then they were at a wall, and their guide was looking back at them, direct them to prove their strength against it. For a moment Zeke just looked at her, eyes narrowed and brows drawn. Then he glanced at the wall with a loud sigh. "Is Cee on the other side?" He was summoning his weapon even as he asked.

"Yes, she is most probably beyond... the veil. Turning up the daisies. Kicking a bucket. Biting big ones. Purchasing farmland..." Sindri listed with pleased agreement.

"Jesus ********!" Cee's hands rubbed against one another, still too old. "Why you lettin'm suffer like that, just... " She had to get out of here. Just a bit more and she'd be good... <********> How was she gonna get out of here? Even if more people came, wouldn't this crazy b***h just kill them too? Snap pressed upon her mind, silent and ever present and for once Cee was reassured by it.

Zeke's lip curled. "On the other side of the wall," he'd clarify, his patience obviously waning.
