It seems like his attempt at any amount of humor was unseen or ignored. Either way, his offer seemed to ruffle some feathers he didn't mean to mess with. In truth, Bangizwe would have carried a lioness if he needed to, or would have tried anyways. Despite the look he was receiving and the sharp words from the lioness that probably needed rest the most besides Njalo and the Umama, he smiled. These lionesses were strong, that was obvious and truthfully, he did not even know if one on his back would not just collapse him to the ground in an ungraceful heap of mud and fur.
"That is a good way to live. I look forward to meeting the rest of the pride if they all live with the same view."

With slow, methodical movements Njalo watched her paws sink into the ground before she pulled them out of the imprint with a sucking sound, her gaze dropping between her forepaws to watch the step she had just left behind fill up with water. Maybe she should have been more alert for potential threats, but her brain had shut off to block out the pain, leaving her empty head to flit from one distraction to another.
She missed the conversation where her pride sisters had expressed concern for the unfamiliar rogue being so close to the cub or she would have cheerily assured them that Bangi wouldn't eat their cub. After all.. he wasn't really enough of a meal to then have to fight off the onslaught of enraged lionesses that would follow, was he?
Lost in her own daze though she was, she heard the Cinga's vulture overhead with her one good ear, though she had to tilt her head to follow the birds movements to catch every word. It's shrill voice was difficult to block out. Blinking in clear confusion at the bald-headed avian. Why would Nja be carried? Nja can walk fine. See?
Exaggerating her steps to show Idla that she was capable of the most basic and necessary of motor skills with an a suddenly amused laugh. Nja wishes she could fly like you though..
She didn't give the suggestion any more thought than that, turning her head to watch the Umama and Bangi deliberate.
Simosishle nodded in silent agreement with Bangizwe's decision. It wasn't a bad one, but then, none of them were particularly bad or good. Still she agreed with the choice. Allowing everyone the comfort of shelter while they rested would be better than very little shelter for those who needed it most. It was likely to slow down the faster moving of their group rather than speed it up. Of course, that was all her opinion and speculation.
However helpful it might have been for Bangi to carry Umoya, currently the slowest of their group, Simoishle didn't press the issue. She had tested her group enough today and with the aid of Esasile and Imula to lean on she wouldn't slow them down much as long as they kept moving at a steady pace. They had been more than compliant and sometimes it was better not to test the limits of acceptance too far. The thought is appreciated, but we've endured worse than this.. we'll get on alright as we are.
Lifting her shoulders in a gesture that could only mean "what can you do?". Smiling faintly at the stout heart of the Bonelands lionesses, she turned a glance across their weary and increasingly impatient faces, she shook her head. If he wanted to harm the cub he's already had plenty of chances, it isn't much of a meal for the amount of effort it would take to fend all of us off afterward. There's plenty of us to keep watch.
Ironically, Simo had spoken the same thought her friend would have, had she acknowledged the conversation, though perhaps not exactly in the same manner. Anyway, I don't know about you all.. but I'm done talking. Let's get the hell out of this rain..
Reluctantly allowing Ilanga to help make the journey easier by offering a shoulder--the Cinga really hadn't given her any other choice--Simo finally looked ahead, ready to keep moving forward until they had finally reached their destination.

The rain began to let up, but still the sky spilled water upon the group of lions as they followed Simosihle's direction to the alcove that would house them all. Bangizwe kept guard outside, despite some minor protesting from the lionesses. Hopefully the rain would stop and the clouds would disperse to reveal the sun, but that would not be for another hour or more at the very least. The herds moved in the distance, their calls lulling the cub and some of the others to sleep with the familiar sound. If the herds were around, at least there was no immediate threat to any of them.
Eventually Imbali joined them just as the rain was beginning to stop, hauling with her a quarter of a zebra carcass. She told the group that she had taken it from a leopard hunting on their lands and complained heavily of how these two damn hyenas tried to take it from her again, but explained that Isidlo had managed to peck one's eye out. At least there was something for them to eat, despite the scolding that Imbali received for leaving the group for so long without word.
Mcheni on the otherhand was not with the Cinga, though Imbali did comment about how she had passed the striped lioness and called out to her, but had been ignored.

Quote: ((Ukuthula is naming this litter in Zulu, after conventionally impressive animals. The two named already are Umkhombo (rhinoceros), Izinyathi (water buffalo), and Uheshe (falcon). She's a tough, brash, and occasionally even mean lioness who's got a bit more brawn than brain. Their grandmother, Wodi, is actually tougher (and smarter), but less unpleasant, though she tends to be rather sassy and feisty. Physically, the cubs' maternal line runs small: Wodi is petite and pretty as a result of Mistweaver blood, while Ukuthula is slightly larger than her mother but very burly thanks to Surtak.)) The info from little gray cub's sister applies to him as well, though he does have some additional IC circumstances! He's basically the runt/disappointment of the litter; Ukuthula very much prefers his sisters and darker, larger brother, while the gray boy is just sort of...there. Thula won't be actively mean to him, but she is indifferent at best (you'll note her conspicuous absence from the rescue mission). If anyone else - his siblings included - is mean to him, she is unlikely to intervene. His brother Umkhombo in particular will probably pick on him quite a bit. His grandmother, at least, will be far fonder of him than his mother is.
