A building in the heart of Petalburg held a rather large group of people outside it's doors. Curiosity rang and Eon found herself nearly front and center. Apparently, a huge story surrounding the Petalburg gym had erupted into a full scale news-worthy incident. Did she hear something about stolen Pokemon? It didn't surprise Eon that there would be people out there stealing Pokemon... though she didn't understand why, catching them in the wild was pretty simple. Glancing down she noticed Ran between her legs... he had something in his mouth. Leaning forward, Nori clutched on to her head to stay up there while Eon picked up Ran and pulled what he had in his mouth into view. "What is this?" She asked him. Ran seemed upset she'd taken his prize... he'd found that fair and square. "Oh, a Heart scale." A male trainer stated motioning towards the heart-shaped scale in Eon's hand. "Your Zigzagoon likely has the Pick up ability." "Pick up ability?" The boy sensed Eon's confusion. "The pick up ability allows some Pokemon to find objects a lot easier than others. A lot of early trainers catch Zigzagoon with the Pick up ability to help them find items." Eon had no clue there was such an ability. She wasn't even aware Pokemon had special abilities like that. It made her wonder about Saga and Nori's abilities. Thanking the man she quickly parted from the crowd and stopped on a less busy area of the street to scan Saga and Nori once more.
"Overgrow powers up you grass-type moves when you get weak, and Shield guard keeps damaging moves from added effects.., neat." Crouching down in front of Ran she held up the Heart scale towards him. "The Pokedex says this can teach you a move or something.. do you want to use it?" Ran seemed to contemplate this, but in the end shook his head. His eyes trailing over to Nori. "Nori?" The bug looked over at Saga, who nodded her head. She didn't mind. Holding down the scale closer to Nori, the bug let Eon rest it down on her head. For a moment the scale began to glow before it vanished. Nori didn't seem effected at first until a sneeze brought up what looked like a web... electrified. "What did you learn?" Eon pondered, scanning Nori once more. "Electro Web, huh... I guess that's good." Collecting her team, Eon motioned forward. "Okay, let's get moving!"

In little to no time, Eon had gotten lost. Petalburg was a lot larger than she'd gave it credit for. Stopping at a corner, she leaned forward, her hands resting on her knees. "Sheesh, I need a minute guys." Saga signed teasingly, crawling down to the street to rest beside the bag. Eon sat back against a cool brick building, tucking in her legs. "I don't think I've ever had to walk this much. It feels good, but I can't over do it." Leaning forward, she felt Nori adjust on her head then crawl down to her shoulder. Ran came in beside Saga and sat down, the brown racoon Pokemon held an orange peel in his mouth. "Where'd you get that?" Eon asked. Her answer wasn't to far away. "H-hey!" A girl shouted from down the street they'd come from. In her hand she had an orange peel, but no orange. Eon looked down at Ran. He didn't... did he? Resting her head down between her knees, she heard the girl stop her approach. "You owe me an Orange!" The girl shouted. Eon looked up, meeting gazes with the female. She looked furious. It was just an Orange. "I don't have any money." Eon replied. "Well then how about a battle instead?" Eon's eyes widened for a moment.... wait, battle? "If you win I'll forget all about how your Zigzagoon stole my orange." Pushing herself up, Eon turned towards the girl. "And if I loose?" The girls eyes narrowed. "You'll have three fainted Pokemon." Well, that was blunt... but true. "Fine let's battle." The girl held up a ball, sending forward her first Pokemon a Carnivine. Eon took a moment to scan the Pokemon. "W-wow..." This girl... was serious.

Eon felt her inexperience in battling was surely going to end with her losing. She wasn't even sure who to send out to fight. Nori took the liberty however, scuttling forward a bold look in her eyes. The girl snorted as she laughed. "A Wurmple" She teased. "Carni, this girl is obviously a freakin' newbie... just use Growth." The Carnivine did as it was ordered, raising it's strength. Nori glanced back at Eon, her little mouth calling back to the still in shock girl. Saga rolled her eyes, patting Eon on the head to get her attention. Snapping to from Saga's touch, Eon spoke far to quickly. "Oh, Right, Nori, Tackle." Even at her exasperated speech, Nori understood and quickly bounded off the ground, tackling the Carnivine just under it's jaw. The large mouthed Venus Flytrap fell to the ground, out cold. "Uh-" The girl was finally speechless. Nori, a Wurmple, a bug had knocked out her Carnivine in one hit. Eon smiled wearily... she hadn't expected that. "Lucky shot." The girl finally spoke up. "You won't stand a chance against my Rotom!" The ghost emerged shaped like a push mower. Eon was unaware this was merely one of the many forms Rotom could take. "We're not going to go easy on you this time. Rotom use Discharge!" The ghost unleashed a flurry of electrical bolts, several danced away only to fizzle out in the street, while a few managed to gain contact with Nori, shocking the bug in submission. Eon darted forward, ignoring the sting of static electricity still surging through Nori's body. "That was uncalled for." Eon stated, her eyes narrowed. The girl folded her arms, a pompous look in her eyes. Ran's hopped forward, taking Nori's place while Eon pulled her up into her arms. "Now you have a Zigzagoon... easy enough to trick with shiny objects." The girl continued to tease, but her Rotom had taken that as an order, issuing it's move 'trick' "N-no, Rotom...." The girl's jaw dropped, as the 'trick' attack did nothing for her or the Rotom, but gave Ran the opprotunity to jump up and Tackle the ghost. "Grr.... You only got a hit in because I misspoke." The girl stated in frustration. "Yea, whatever. Are we done?" Eon retorted, still coddling Nori. "No we're not done. I have one last Pokemon!." The girl replied, calling back her Rotom. Sending forward her last Pokemon, a Tangela. "Tangela, Constrict that Zigzagoon! " Ran was quickly grabbed by the Tangela's finger-like vines, but it wasn't enough to hold back the rambunctious little racoon. once he got some stability on the ground, he darted forward, tackling the Tangela. It's round body sent it tumbling backward, knocking the girl down to her butt. Ran quickly retreated to Eon's feet, barking at the woman. Eon couldn't believe it... she'd won her first trainer battle.

Quickly taking her leave of the girl, Eon headed straight for the Pokemon Center. Though, it didn't take long before they were once more lost in the large city. She'd been so close to moving out of the Petalburg then that girl had to come and hurt Nori. Hugging the bug tighter, Eon turned down a vacant alleyway. On the other side of the alley way she found herself in a miniature garden of sorts... a large founded sprouted up at it's center. Below she followed a path that lead through a tiny maze... or that's what it looked like it was suppose to be. She didn't notice at first, but at the pond a Lotad had managed to get itself stuck upside down. Ran took notice of the Pokemon's cries for help and quickly darted across the maze to the fountain. Eon followed, careful of the flower path that made up the walls of the maze. When she finally noticed the upside-down Lotad, she gingerly set Nori down and reached into the water pulling up the Lotad. Once he was upright, the water and grass-type turned towards Eon with a grin, and then proceeded to squirt water in her face. "H-hey!" Eon called, rubbing her face with the sleeve of her jacket. "He's thanking you." Spoke a familiar voice. Eon turned, sleeve still held up to her face. It was the girl from earlier. "Thanks." She added. "Your.. welcome." Eon replied, somewhat hesitant. "Back already? Didn't take you long." Snapped a male voice from a nearby window. Both Eon and the girl looked up to spot a boy, perhaps a few years older then Eon and the girl. The girl's gaze turned deadly but instead of replied sarcastically, as Eon expected she would, she simply turned around and headed for a different building. "Such a baby... She looses once then gives up and goes to cry in her room." Eon lowered her sleeve. "At least she's trying." She stated. "I don't see you doing anything to help her either." The male's gaze turned down to Eon, while the girl turned back to look at Eon. "I'm not a trainer." He replied. "Then why are flapping your lips like you're some hot shot?" Eon quickly snapped back. "If you're going to talk the talk, you'd better learn to walk the walk." The boy rose from his spot, leaning out the window, both hands firmly grasping the window. "Why, you....." She snarled before finally vanishing into his room. Eon placed both her hands on her hips grinning at her accomplishment. Where the heck had that come from? "T-thanks... again." Eon turned towards the sound of the girl from earlier. "Think nothing of it... I don't really know what came over me." The girl chuckled, she seemed different now. "I"m sorry I was such a brat to you.... But what he said was true.. I've been trying to leave Petalburg to be a trainer for the past three years.. but every time I lose to a trainer and end up coming back home..." She kicked at a loose stone in the path. "I don't cry though... Not anymore." The girl glanced up. "I'm Resa by the way." "Eon. And well.. I'm not sure if I ever wanted to become a trainer.... But I know giving up isn't going to make anything happen... truth be told, you were my first battle..." Resa's eyes widened. "And you won it too..." She stated, though a smile suggested she wasn't upset. "I suppose... maybe I'm not cut out to be a trainer, but you're right again.. I shouldn't give up... maybe, maybe I'll try something different. I hear there's a breeder school in Rustboro." Eon nodded. "That's the spirit. And hey, I'm actually on my way to Rustboro as well.." Adjusting her bag, Eon motioned towards the direction she thought was towards Petalburg woods. "We could go together, if you'd like." Resa nodded. "That'd be perfect. But uh.. one thing..." She motioned behind Eon. Turning the green-haired girl was rather startled when she found the Lotad from earlier rubbing up against her... she hadn't even felt him. Her skirt was completely soaked.
Eon arched a brow.... "Uh, hey... Would you like to come with us too?" The lotad nodded, though a dertermined look crossed it's eyes as it backed away. "It wants to battle first." Resa mentioned. Eon glanced back towards Resa. "How do you know?" Resa chuckled. "Well, I've grown up around Grass-type Pokemon my entire life, this garden attracts them, so I've sort of gotten to know their mannerisms and stuff..." She pointed back behind Eon... "And it just used Astonish..." Eon whipped around, finding Ran was the one it was facing... luckily Ran was immune to Astonish, but the Lotad wasn't immune to a tackle. Knocked out within seconds, it took Eon a moment to collect herself so she could grab a Pokeball and use it on the Lotad.

The familiar ping of a sealed ball elated Eon. Yet another member to her team. She quickly retrieved the ball, turning towards Resa. Her new travel companion nodded her approval. "You might just be perfect for the League challenge." Eon's brow quirked. "League challenge?" She repeated. Resa nodded. "Yea, you challenge each of the gyms in a specific region and after you get all eight you can take on the Elite Four. A group of super strong trainers." Holding a hand up to her chin, Eon thought this new information over. It sounded so foreign to her. Yet, it should be something she should know right? Perhaps in her lost memories. 'You really think I could contend in something like that?" Eon asked. Resa nodded. "The first gym happens to also be in Rustboro City. She trains Rock-types, so that Lotad you just caught would be perfect." Eon still wasn't to sure about all of that. Well, maybe. She'd managed to win her first battle without using all her available Pokemon. But the fossil came first of course. "Just give it a chance, whats the worse that'll happen?" A soft smile appeared over Eon's lips. She was right. All that would happen was she'd lose, and she'd be right back where she started, with nothing to lose. With a nod Resa's grin grew. "Alright, then let's get going to the Pokemon Center to get your Pokemon healed." Taking the lead, Eon followed. Resa would know the city more than her anyway.

Resa knew Petalburg like the back of her hand. Within no time she and Eon were standing inside the lobby of the center waiting for Nurse Joy to return with Eon's Pokemon. The nurse wasn't to happy to see Eon for the second time in a day, but she was understanding, especially with Resa there to explain what happened. It wasn't much longer before the girls were back out on the streets, Nori back on Eon's head where she'd grown accustomed to be. Ran dashed on ahead, eager to move on to a new hunting ground. His eyes were ever vigilant for something to snatch up. A Ralts suddenly appeared before the group, holding up it's hands in protest to their path. "Oh, A Ralts." Resa stated, clasping her hands together. "They're so rare!" Eon pulled out her Pokedex, scanning the small psychic-type. It actually wouldn't be to bad having one of them on her team... but she was already bordering on a full team, and from what she'd gathered from Resa... one could only have six active and six inactive Pokemon her team, though Resa herself wasn't to sure about that. She'd noted seeing people pass through Petalburg with more then twelve Pokemon following them. Perhaps the rules had changed? Whatever the case, Eon wasn't quiet feeling this little one. After all.. all it knew was growl.

"You can catch it if you want." Eon said. Resa shook her head. "Nah, I'm a grass-type trainer. All I know is grass-types." She replied, frowning a bit. It really looked like she wanted to catch that Ralts. Their opportunity vanished when the Ralts quickly ran away. With it gone so neither could catch it, they continued to walk on. It wouldn't be long until they finally reached the outskirts of Petalburg and finally started to head north towards Petalburg woods. Eon's mind began to wonder as they walked, pondering thoughtfully on her upcoming attempt at the Gym in Rustboro. Was she even ready for such a thing?

Passing by the gym for a second time, it appeared whatever event that had been going on was now over. Only a few scattered people had lingered around to talk. Resa suddenly stopped, motioning towards the gym with wide eyes. "Look, he must be a trainer, come to challenge Norman." Eon arched a brow. Wait that was a gym? Resa turned to catch Eon's confused look. "Petalburg has a gym too, but Norman is super strong. And I'm not just boasting 'cause he's the leader of my hometown gym, no Norman's the real deal. He only takes on people who've won four of the Hoenn badges." Eon wasn't sure why she suddenly felt so impressed, but it did sound pretty intimidating. "Come on, let's see if we can watch their battle!" Feeling a tug at her arm, Eon simply followed after Resa as they entered the gym.
The Challenger didn't mind them watching, so both Eon and Resa took front row seats to watch the action. Eon watched as Norman sent out a Vigoroth, to which she scanned with her Pokedex, and the challenger, who sent out a Pokemon foreign to Hoenn; Lucario. "Oh wow, A Fighting-type, good match-up." Resa whispered, motioning towards Normal's Vigoroth. "Normal-types, like Vigoroth are weak to fighting-type moves, like Lucario's Aura Sphere. But watch Norman closely, he's no fool or a push-over." Resa chuckled to herself. "Okay, now I'm boasting a bit." Eon didn't mind, frankly she wasn't paying much attention to Resa. She was witnessing her first gym battle. Pretty soon, she'd be taking on this very same challenge... but in Rustboro.

The battle started out in the challengers favor. Using powerful fighting-type moves against Norman's team was slowly securing the challengers victory. But what the man hadn't accounted for was the retaliation from Norman's second Pokemon. With his Lucario down, the male trainer was easy pickings. It seemed he had put his faith fully into his Lucario. Eon leaned back in her chair, thinking back to what Resa had said about Lotad being perfect for her battle at the Rustboro gym. Relying on one Pokemon wasn't going to secure a win.. she had to train up everyone.
As they left, leaving behind a frustrated trainer, Eon turned to Resa. "What types does the leader in Rustboro use?" "Rock-types." Resa replied. "Rock-types? ...So, I should use..." "Your Lotad. It's water and grass, a perfect combo to counter her Pokemon." Eon tugged at her backpack. "But shouldn't I use more than just Lotad -I mean, Hollr?" Eon inquired, looking towards the path ahead, they were still following behind the male... why hadn't he headed for the Pokemon Center instead? Resa realized the meaning behind Eon's words, and with a pat to Eon's shoulder she nodded thoughtfully. "Yea, relying on one Pokemon isn't going to do you any good. Your Treecko is a grass-type too." Resa pointed out. Saga? Yea, Saga would be good too. "The Wurmple is a bug-type, even if you fully evolved it, she wouldn't stand a chance... not to be mean or anything, it's just a fact. Bugs are weak to rock-type moves." Nori pouted some, but she regrettably agreed. She couldn't go up against a Geodude or Nosepass. Still Eon had a lot to ponder on. Saga and Hollr needed to be trained.. which meant more battling.

As if on cue, another Ralts appeared. Perhaps it was actually the same one, since it stopped upon crossing paths with Eon and Resa. Eon was still sure that she didn't really want to catch this one, so a battle was all that came to mind. Motioning forward, she glanced over to Saga. "Use Pound, Saga!" The Treecko leaped off of Eon's shoulder in a flash. She slammed her body into the Ralts, knocking it back, fully unconscious. She then returned to Eon's shoulder with a grin across her lips, though her eyes suggested she was bored by her easy win.

Training was going to be harder than she thought, if Saga managed to one shot everything. Surely not all the Pokemon in the wild were this weak? "This is going to take forever.." Eon sighed. Resa looked back, a smile creeping across her face. "What is?" She asked in a mused tone. "Training... I only just got Saga." Resa's grin vanished. "Yea, the Pokemon around here are rather lack luster. Uh, well... If you don't mind a detour, Dewford Town has a cave.... I hear the Pokemon are pretty tough around there. At least for beginners." Eon was somewhat intrigued. Did she for-go the fossil for now for some training? Her primary mission was to bring the fossil to Rustboro, but if she had stronger Pokemon she could protect the fossil better right? Clutching the bags strap she looked at Saga. "What do you think Saga? Dewford or Rustboro?"

Saga appeared lost in thought for a moment. She hadn't expected Eon to ask her what was better. She really didn't understand Eon's situation with the fossil, but she did know she did want to get stronger. Her thoughts on training on the mainland were mutual with Eon's. She motioned towards the left, as if to say Dewford, not knowing that was actually the direction they would head. "Dewford?" Eon asked, wishing for clarification. Saga nodded. Resa grinned, leaping backwards. She walked backwards for a while before finally turning back around. "I've always wanted to visit Dewford!" She grinned to herself... her reaction was almost childlike. Eon couldn't help but return the smile.

Their only problem. No ferry. "Whaaat!" Resa whined. The two girls had managed to make it out of Petalburg, but the house on the coast which was meant to have a ferry had a 'gone fishin'' Sign n it's door. "Gone fishing my butt." Resa exclaimed, stomping her foot down. "I guess we'll have to wait?" Eon suggested. She actually didn't wait for Resa's reply, sitting down on the edge of the porch. Resa turned with a huff. She dashed away so fast, Eon had noticed she'd avoided using all of the steps. Resa was down by the shoreline like it was her mission. Eon simply leaned back, taking in the calming scent of the sea... for a moment she got a nagging feeling in the back of her mind, once more something just out of reach from her mind's eye. Another memory? Perhaps.

Leaning against the post of the porch, Eon's eyes began to grow heavy. She realized just than how tired she was. Having not really slept since the evening she'd left for Littleroot. Closing her eyes, she hadn't planned on passing out, just resting. Saga kept a watchful eye though, curled up in Eon's lap with Nori. Ran rested on the round just under Eon's feet, while Hollr rested in his ball. The cool breeze and slight overcast made for perfect nap weather.
Resa on the other hand... was still an hyper as ever, deciding to calm herself by skipping rocks.

Nearly an hour passed before Resa returned to find Eon fast asleep, the only one of her Pokemon not in dreamland was Saga. Resting down on the porch behind Eon, Resa leaned into an adjacent pole. "It's been one heck of a day..." Resa muttered, leaned her head onto the pole. Releasing her Pokemon she watched as her Tangela and Carnivine entangled with each other. The two had been love-plants since they day she'd caught them. Rotom on the other hand began dashing about, mowing the grass as he did. Imagine Resa's shock when she found out not only did she have a Rotom living in her house, but it had taken control over an old Push-mower. Why her family had a push mower in the city was beyond her, but she was thankful that Rotom decided to join her... still, he'd grown rambuctious as of late.. and a bit harder to control.
