Between the adverts in the shops and the flyers all around, it would have been hard pressed for someone to miss that there was a party planned for New Year's Eve even if said someone was a cat - well okay a mauvian if you were being precise.

The whole thing looked exciting and like it was going to be a lot of fun.

There was just one teensy, tiny problem in that nowhere had there been any mention of cats being invited - in fact there had been no mention anywhere that they were allowingany animal apart from the stated service animals, although that in itself wasn't problematic - it just meant that he'd have to make sure that he wasn't caught.

It wouldn't have been a problem if either Orah or Arian had been around, because he would have just asked one (or both) to take him, but Orah was on Ida until the end of January (at least he thought January was when Arian had said she was planning to come back) and Arian had left a few days back to go to some sort of family gathering that involved his cousin and was being held out of town. He had mentioned that he'd be back on the 2nd - a whole two days too late to be of any help.

Which left plan B - sneaking in.

It hadn't been easy, not with all the pesky hotel staff out there to prevent a cat from having fun, but Liryn had managed. Being small had helped - lots of people turning up to take up the attention of said pesky hotel staff had helped even more.

Not that managing to sneak in meant that he was home clear since if the hotel staff caught on that he was there then Liryn suspected that he'd be right back on the hotel outside because they didn't strike him as any fun or understanding of the fact that whoever had come up with the party idea had made a glaring error by leaving cats off the invite.

He had ended up under a table with delicious food smells coming from above and sniffing around to see if there were any nice food bits around where he was.

A glimmer of something shiny caught his attention, the 'something' in question turning out to be a purple mask of cloth and glitter and (best of all) feathers.

Snagging the end of one of the purple ribbons, he used it to drag the mask further under the table and closer to him - after all it was on the floor so he doubted anyone would miss it.

Darren had eyed the orange domino mask with a bit of incredulity but beyond that, he sighed and slipped it over his eyes all the same. It was better than being at home - and quite frankly he needed the break. He had purposely slipped out and left his phone at home too - he'd take the flack from his parents the next morning, he needed something to do and this party seemed pretty much required attending.

Wandering the room, he began to doubt his actual motives for showing up. Had he really wanted to come here? This really wasn't his usual kind of party - and the fact that he'd gone to the trouble of digging out the suit from the closet was starting to feel like an act of desperation on his part.

It didn't take him long to spot someone of kindred spirits. The poor girl was tucked into a corner, looking broody and lonely and in need of some company. Her pink mask did not match her blue dress at all - but at least it didn't clash like the orange did with his green.

Moving over to her, he slipped beside her while lightly clearing his throat, not quite within an arms length of her, but close enough for it to be obvious that he was approaching her and not the wall.

"You know, your face will freeze if you keep it like that." He didn't make any special pains to hide his voice, like some would do. He didn't have to. He'd just gotten over a really nasty head-cold and his voice was still somewhat coarse from being sick.

Looking his girlfriend over he couldn't help smiling. He was so used to seeing her in other clothing, nothing this fancy, but it was a lovely change. He'd never ask her to dress up this much, never expect it, but it was very nice and that mask did look lovely on her; but he didn't think much of anything looked bad on her. As for himself...well this was new to him. he had semi casual clothing in his closet but he rarely ever dressed up so much, it simply wasn't normal for him. He was a science geek, of sorts, and played sports and so dressing like this wasn't the norm for him. His mother had been happy to see the clothing she'd gotten him almost two years ago, for some family photo, put to use once again.

"Upstairs with the loud music and club scene it is then." He said with a bright smile and a light color decorating his cheeks as he felt the press of lips to flesh. "I'm glad you think so, my mother did also. I suppose I can dress up from time to time for dates." Offering her the opportunity to have him dress up a bit more often. He was, typically, the sort to dress in what was comfortable and this wasn't too bad, though not as comfortable as his usual clothing choices.

"I was, honestly, going to invite you out to dinner and then out to the streets to ring in the new year. but this seemed nicer...and a lot warmer. I'm glad you like the idea so much. If they do this again next year we'll have to attend again." provided it went well this year anyway.

He was not social, not really, and he also wasn't paying attention to things. He'd been busy staring from the door way into the loud ballroom full of party goers. It was filled with people and loud music, so loud, and flashing lights and it was just a lot for Ian to take in. He had somehow managed to continue walking even with someone following behind him down the hall to the doorway, not noticing or hearing the person behind him, until it was too late and they were right there and surprising him with their question about the music, or something.

Taking a moment to focus on what they had asked he nodded his head as he turned to face her. "Ummm...yeah. Though it is loud." he stated slowly, as if unsure of his words. He wasn't unsure but rather hesitant and somewhat shy, The whole point of this ballroom was loud music and partying after all. "You too I assume." Trying to be polite and not come off as rude, or something else.

"Then let's go dance," Arilee murmured scanning for the closest elevator. Then, grinning, she held up her clutch and jiggled it a little. "Honey, who needs cameras when God gave us smart phones? You just tell me what you want a shot of and I'll get you a picture."

Giving Ava a quick hug, the tall blonde headed for the elevator, fingers twined through Ava's so that they wouldn't get separated. The idea of a wedding in a big fancy hotel sounded sort of fun. Except too big and too fancy. She wanted to be able to relax. This place... didn't seem terribly relaxing.

"I dunno, baby. Seems a little on the stuffy side. I mean, nice weather's coming up and we could always do something outdoors. Or even do a location wedding, you know? I don't think we'd talked about that possibility yet."

It was soothing to chatter about weddings and venues. It kept her jangling nerves from acting out too badly.

Only a couple hours have passed and its just have 9pm, but you are feeling rather tired, a little woozy, and like you might not make it to midnight. Nothing some of you haven’t felt before, you rarely make it through New Year’s Eve celebrations. Other’s wonder if maybe they have had a little too much to drink, if they spent too much time on the dance floor, or even if it is simply too hot in the ballroom. No matter the reason you believe it to be you feel noticeably more tired, but it’s pretty easy to brush off.

Abigail Miller was dragged along to the party against her will by her own father. Apparently some of his coworkers would be there and he really wanted to socialize with them and he couldn't leave his little girl home alone... the nanny had the day off too.

She sulkily took the red mask given to her, at least it matched her ruby red dress, and stormed off to the kid's ballroom. Her father called back telling her to be good and careful... blah blah blah. She was tired and her feet already hurt and she was peeved that she couldn't convince her father to stay home tonight. She had to be loosing her ability. It use to be that she could get him to do what ever she wanted... He couldn't be here to talk to a girl could he? Abby was surprisingly possessive of her father and the thought of him dating brought dread to her heart and tears to her eyes.

She had drifted over to the snack table once she had come into the party but once she thought about her dad and a possible date she turned abruptly and nearly marched right out the door of ballroom two but she spotted a small child struggling to make his ice cream sunday... that just wouldn't do. No matter how much she just wanted to go to her father and wheele her way into going home, first she would help the little boy then possibly pull the tears out.

(Abby has a red mask)
((I know the dress link is black but imagine its red and it hits just about the same spot on Abby as well.))

Arthur Quinton was running late for the party. It took longer to excuse himself from his parents 'gathering' and join his college buddies sown at the hotel. He knew more then a few were hoping to score but Quinn was just looking to have some fun, something he really rarely got to do at some of his folks parties.... Something abou some folks make them seem like a masive sticks up there bum.

He quickly paid the cover charge and received a simple black mask, it went with his deconstructed suit. He ditched the tie and vest back at the house, a few swipes with his hand made his sandy hair fall naturally rather then fixed in proper place with gel, and his starched white dress shirt was properly wrinkled and unbuttoned to let him breath. The charcole gray jacket would go as soon as he sat down but the deck of cards in the pocket would remain with him.

Danceing would be fun but if that didn't work out a good game of poker would work just as well. What Quinn wasn't expecting when he passed the second ballroom on the way to the third was the masive game systems in the 'kids' ballroom. He hesitated just a moment or so before shrugging... A grown adult playing Mario kart against preteens just wasn't fair, he had so much more practice then they did.

(Quinn has a black mask)
((Anyone is welcome to mess with Quinn))

Jessie had nursed her first glass of wine to death and was now working on her second. She was quietly watching the various antics around her. How many of these people even knew what really went on at night? It was a thought that really confounded her. To think that the couple snuggling up in the corner could be senshi or nega... The two on the dance floor doing some kind of karate could be knights.... Any number of kids in the second ballroom could be chibi senshi, which she still didn't fully understand.

A glance at a clock told her that she couldn't go home yet so Jessie politely hid her yawn behind her glass and snaged a chair. So many late nights made her sleeper apparently, it never occured to her that something sinister might be in the wind. Even when the floor seemed to move ever so slightly she just shrugged it off as the wine and put it down. What would it be like to come to one of these things with a date? she thought as she continued to people watch, a bit surprised by her urge to write the whole scene down to use later in a story.

"My dear lady, unless you wish to throw me to the wall, I would not worry about such things. Here." Jasper stood back up right and reached for her hand. Turning to lead her to the back of the dance floor which was emptier than the rest, he released her hand and gave another bow.

"Here, if you will permit me to be your teacher, we will take it slow." Jasper had been taught long ago the finer things in life. Well, the finer things when it came to wooing women at least. Dancing was one of them.

Taking one of her hands, he placed it on his shoulder before stepping closer and putting one hand on her waist. "Now, just follow me." He said softly and began a soft count of 1-2-3 all while ignoring a growing tiredness in his eyes.

Delilah was on her second glass by the time she started to wonder how this night was going to turn out. She had approached several people, all of which had come with dates..."Of course they would Delilah. It is New Years Eve after all..." The woman sighed and moved to find a chair. Her feet were getting tired being in those cursed heels.

Well at least she looked hot in her mind as she turned her eyes back to watch the dancers. Was it just her or were they slowing down?

Either way, her eyes went back to admiring the males in black masks

Evren took his hand and let him lead her. Evren actually wasn't bad at dancing in fact she seemed to be picking it up rather easily even though she seemed to be trying to be cautious by watching her feet. All seemed to be going well until her eyes went blurry and she stepped on his foot. To which she backed up a little and flushed.

"Sorry! I must have spaced out. I kinda do that a lot..." She laughed nervously. "I didn't hurt your foot too badly I hope..." Though her eyes still seem to be blurry as she thought to herself.

Andrew seemed to bounce and vibrate in place for a variety of reasons. One, because he had broken a very explicit rule and spilled his secrets and he was absolutely positive Lydia would be furious because she was very insistent about not doing that thing. Something something life in danger people will come after you thing. And he had resisted at first, but life was hard when you couldn't remember the last four years of your life, but you could remember this person.

Also he wanted to go to the ball. He wanted to see people and not hide and go to a party and since he had been cooped up for so long, it was a big event in his eyes. Hell, even if he wasn't deprived of outside social time it would be huge to him. Every aspect of the ballrooms were sparkly and shiny and novel.

"I dunno!" He squawked in his ill-fitting, off the rack suit. He was shocked he managed to acquire one at all, but it wasn't tailored and just a bit too short in the legs, a bit too tight at the shoulders, and a bit too baggy around the middle. He was still the picture of awkwardness, but he seemed to be more enthusiastic about it. "Food. Maybe. Chocolate fountain!"

The final words were announced like a charging cry as he dramatically pointed at one in the distance, golden eyes going wide at the wonder.

Elle's heart was actually pounding from nervousness. For all of her poise, she was always afraid that these large occasions were major tests in which she would fail and something would crack and slip and she would be seen for all she was.

She had taken an inordinate amount of time preparing and meticulously crafted her look from the vintage cut dress to the small lace gloves and shawl. She eschewed diamonds for pearls, afraid that in this setting her diamonds would be recognized as the fakes they were.

She took Ariel's hand and managed a restrained smile, and already that small action seemed to cause all of her internal hardware to tense up and crumble out of anxiety as she second guessed her make up choices and cut of her dress and everything else.

"Of course," She answered with measured monotone, and found herself reaching for Ariel's arm.

It allowed her to stop and focus on the other woman, who was bafflingly postured and dressed in a scope that Elle didn't realize was possible. She paused and stared with her mouth slightly agape, focusing on the various places where Captain Cinnabar typically had scales.

"Magic?" She blurted before she covered her mouth and looked around, and then to Ariel as she flushed red from embarrassment. "Not that... I was... implying, or doubting... um."

She quieted down and stared giving in to her nervous tick of twisting the fingertips of her gloves. "Oooh dear."

Where was the wine?

Back in the Destiny City. Back in the social circles.

Oh, how refreshing it was to wear a glamorous dress, fancy shoes and accessories. Her time in Japan had been amazing and fascinating but she had to admit, she had actually missed this kind of elegant atmosphere. Through her simple black mask which she had got beforehand, she eyed the growth in their gorgeous evening gowns and charming suits before heading towards the ballroom where the most elegant music was playing. She had no interest towards the third floor where people drank themselves in a condition where they made themselves ungraceful and un-controllable and even less towards the ballroom which was designed to be kid-friendly. Uh, kids. They were not her thing. Kids were loud and messy, quite opposite of what Jade was.

On her way to the ball room, she picked up couple cocktail treats on her plate before settling to watch people waltzing on the dance floor while idly enjoying surprisingly delicious food and pleasant music. It didn't seem to be a bad night at all.

Ever since having those horrible, horrible nightmares for serving the Negaverse, Cora had spent a majority of her time at home. It was nerve-cracking thought someone from Negaverse could capture her and bring her to their General-King for to corrupt... or death. Cora wasn't sure which destiny was worse.

But the cream-colored Mauvian could stay inside for so long. She had never been full-scale indoors cat and the sense of duty and curiosity drove her outside. Yes, the world was a scary place and there was a possibility for her to get in serious trouble but if she would not go out wouldn't that be a victory for the Negaverse as well? With those thoughts she braved herself outside from McMahon's house and trotted towards the city centre.

The trip went pretty well in her opinion and soon she came across adverts of New Years masquerade ball. How mysteriously fascinating! Right from the moment Cora knew she wanted to particiate. Who knows, maybe she would find her Prince Charming today!

Nearing the hotel, she noticed a familiar-looking tail disappear inside the hotel. Was that Liryn? Oh good, if it was. Cora wouldn't have to spend her time at the ball alone then. To her unfortune though, the grey Mauvian was quick in his moves and before she had managed to enter the building (which wasn't easy. Oh those pesky hotel workers and their silly rules... Didn't they knew Cora was a lady, not just ordinary feline pet?) she has lost sight of him. Oh bummer.

But she didn't have time to be disappointed for long when there was suddenly an orange mask dropped not quite far from her. Apparently, it belonged to a single mom who (despite her better knowledge) had brought her little child in the ball. Feeling a bit empathetic towards the crying child and to the embarrased mom who was carrying the child outside the cat watched them leave before turning her attention towards the mask and pawing it's feathers lazily, forgetting the other Mauvian for a moment.

Mask: orange

Mention. Looks like someone unconsciously lured the lady cat in the ball. ^.^

Emily didn't mind his excitement a bit - she herself was entirely wired, and managing to keep somewhat calm if only so she didn't get them thrown out. Andrew trusted her, and he'd asjked her out.

This alone was fabulous. So she managed to disregard the odd tiredness that tried to creep on her to follow, beaming in excitement behind the black mask over her face as she grinned, glad her aunt taught her the fine art of running in heels by dressing her for a while, even if normally Emily had considered that time to be practice for purgatory.

It helped now though as Emily grinned, following Andrew for the chocolate fountain quite readily, grinning.

"So are you excited for midnight?" She asked, then made a face. "Besides a bunch of people deciding to drunkenly smoosh face for things."

She was there with him for a good time and to enjoy themselves - not watch a bunch of people remind her ashe had never really had a boyfriend besides on the net.

Or really anything romantic in person. Briefly she considered sticking a cinnamon altoid in the punch in pure spite, and decided not. Andrew might drink it and he might be upset.

She did not want this.

With all those posters posted everywhere it was rather obvious how Benji's parents had gotten this blasted idea of what should they do for New Year's Eve. Any other day Benji would have simply said a happy "******** Off" and meandered off on his own direction for the fireworks but tonight was special. Special meaning a special "just behave for one night in your life you little brat" bribe that consisted of a good little wad of change that Benji just couldn't ignore. So for tonight, and tonight only, it was decided that Benji would accompany those old coots he had for parents to this 'party'. Being new to town and having been quiet for the past few months gave them plenty of reason as to why they should decide to show their faces around. New friends and what not.

Fancy clothes were such a burden on the fifteen year old. They clung awkwardly to his still growing frame and felt so constrictive. How the hell was he supposed to run in a stiff pair of slacks?! But a deal was a deal. As soon as the family made it through the doors of the lavish hotel and a purple mask was shoved onto his face, Benji broke away and headed straight for the icecream bar in the second ballroom. Free food was always a priority because food loved you no matter what. It didn't judge you for being cranky all the time or expected you to behave like some trained monkey. Naw, it was there for the consumption. Delicious, unnutritious, and highly processed consumption.

Plus video games! If he played his cards right, he wouldn't have to. As soon as his bowl was obtained he raced towards them not allowing for any of these other kiddos to have a chance. Little twits should have learned to move faster! Unfortunately there seemed to be another guy who had the same idea. He wasn't THAT much of a hog, and games were games. Plus two systems right? He could be nice tonight. It was part of the deal. And if he shared a system with this black masked dude then there was one left for the other kids and they would bother them less. That was just common sense.

"Hey, you wanna play a game together? I feel like I need to beat someone at something right now, and you look like you're up for a challenge. Kids aren't much competition are they?"

The night was just starting for him yet he still felt kinda tired. Putting on this mask (ha!) of being a good person was draining he supposed.

Jasper couldn't hide the wince from her as he felt the shoe hit his big toe. It was both painful and he had to admit that now he wished he would not have spent so much time polishing them. Ow...ow ow...

"Why don't we take a break for a moment? Maybe get something to drink and clear your head. If you need to rest, I'll grab you something." He stopped and stepped back for a moment, toes wiggling in his shoe.
