xxxxCaptured Tents

Was it really wise for Naevius to skirt her guards? Probably not, but Shalvesta couldn't blame her for it. Instead she laughed and shook her head, giving the other woman a somewhat fond look.

Wait, what? Shalvesta blinked, mouth opening in surprise when the conversation turned so smoothly towards her profession. Tinging pink, the woman cast her eyes aside, hesitating, then blushed more when Ichil pitched in as well. She wasn't really used to achieving things, and being able to share her pride - so it felt strange to gloat about it. But she WAS proud of her skills, and there was a sort of pleasure to be had in her friends asking about it.

"It has been... interesting. Indeed, becoming a swordswoman has --"

Then they were interrupted, and Shalvesta was equally disappointed and relieved that the subject was changed. Trailing off her sentence, Shalvesta ducked her eyes and inched closer to Ichil, once again curling her hand around the woman's arm. Perhaps she was clingy, and possibly Ichil would be frustrated at her behavior, but it didn't seem as though this Saraf man wanted to speak to her, so she allowed herself to fall into old habits and duck away from the introduction of a stranger.

Once she was introduced, Shalvesta raised her gaze to Saraf, nodded in greeting, shifting slightly beside Ichil in nervousness. "So... you're a scout, you said? Would you have any guesses as to why the prisoners were brought along with the war party?" Shalvesta gestured vaguely towards the pen. Part of her thought it could have been to lure them over to becoming Loyalists, but the attempt from the captain had been so half-hearted it made her wonder. If Saraf had truly caught people, maybe he knew who had given the order to bring them along?

In case Cey wants to see her

Dyakida – Alkidike Artisan (Prisoner)
Supply tents to Captured Tents: It's very hard to be subversive when you can't see...

Her shift over, Dyakida was led back to the prisoner tents. She hadn't been able to find an oppurtunity to safely secrete any more sharp objects, but she was relieved that the weapons she HAD put aside hadn't been found out, hidden as they were. They were small – and tools besides – but they would be an edge, a threat, a bluff if nothing else.

They held her hands behind her back as they pushed her – admittedly gentler than she had been expecting – across the camp. She longed for her staff to strike them down, or her dagger to at least attempt to destroy these invaders, but she had nothing and, now, her helplessness was essential. Let them underestimate her, let them think she was nothing more than a crippled crafter, cowed to their side.

When my weapons she daydreamed are at their throats, they will regret leaving their homeland.

Finally, she was pressed against the hard wood of the fence, the vibrations through it implying something changing or opening in it.

“All right, you.” she heard them say, before she was pulled away and rudely shoved into an open space, “There you go.”

She staggered, disoriented, listening for the other prisoners. She had, after all, something to deliver.

Nuawahn – Wind Healer (Conscript)
Captured Tents: The World is falling apart

Nuawahn nodded and leaned into the comforting arm, sniffling. He knew he was doing the right thing. He was glad that this nice man understood... Oggie hadn't but Nuawahn couldn't tell Oggie. If he did, then they'd hurt him more... and they were already hurting him. He had already risked a lot by telling the nice people here: the Obans were everywhere, and he feared that if he even whispered it to Oggie, if he did anything other than what they wanted him to, they would know.

Nuawahn looked at the Ice woman with pained wariness. ”Help?!” he squeaked, shrinking back against Lerin. The tone in her voice made it sound like she was thinking about doing something... dangerous. It made his head hurt. Didn't she know? Didn't she understand?! It was bad! The Obans were bad! ”No... No! Don't do... Please... They'll hurt you too if you do something against them...” he pleaded, trying to keep his voice low so the Obans wouldn't hear. ”And they'll hurt Oggie, an' everybody...” he started to cry again, his headache renewed, ”Please... I don't want anybody to get hurt...” he shuddered, ”I can't let anybody get hurt...”

There was no hope for... whatever scary idea that the lady had. No hope. They just had to behave... behave and maybe things would be all right. Maybe, if Nuawahn was very good, they wouldn't hurt Oggie or the other prisoners any more than they had.

User ImageRayolun: Prisoner in Captured Tent
Post 5 (1/2)

Rayolun sighed and shook his head. "This is war lad... People will get hurt no matter what; once weapons are drawn there is nothing to do but fight... The time for words and pleas of peace are over. All your aiding does is allow them an easier time to hurt our people. Besides, battle will happen soon from the way that leader was acting. That means others out there are going to get hurt and die.. while you stay safe and aid the enemy and make their job in hurting those you are apparently trying to protect easier..." Did this boy really think the Obans would not hurt people? Had he not seen what they'd done in the last battle? What they were doing to his people in the jungle?

"Of course the enemy is going to say they will kill everyone! They are trying to demoralize you.. which, it appears, they have." Rayolun looked at Ethelfleade, "Come and talk with me away from the fence and the eyes and ears of the Obans...." And the crying boy who needed a backbone who could be a spy. If he was so easily swayed, he could be forced easily into telling of any plans they made in front of him.

He was a little disappointed in Lerin. Boy seemed more like the type to just.. accept what happened and not care. And this crying one was very much a disappointment. Villagers probably, he thought to himself, soft people who have never had to kill to survive. These villagers and city folk need to send their children into the wilds for a month or three to learn about the dangers of the world, how to survive, and how to struggle....

Ete chittered in glee. Cause trouble? Oh she knew how to do that! That was easy... She flew over to pat Senja on the head and chirp at her in a bossy tone before flying off to see what mischief could be done. She flit from tent top to tent top, keeping an eye out for things that could be toppled over, burnable things to spread fire, and a sharp item to take back to Senja... Or for her to use to cut ropes and make these tents collapse.

"Well... looks like she's off to go do this now.... And that means we need to get people ready." Senja said as she watched Ete fly off. Hope she makes it out safely!

She began to poke nearby people to warn them that a distraction was going to occur soon... one that would draw off some of these stupid spectating obans. A good time to hide weapons, attempt to sneak off and steal things or attack the obans, attempt to escape ... it would be up to them. She just hoped she could get out of here... soon. While she was no longer dragged off to help make potions (which ended up poisons more often than not for her) it did mean she had less to do to occupy her time. Time spent worrying more often than not now.

She did not wander too far from her "nephew" though, trusting to people and their gossip to take the word farther and faster than she could move. Plus she needed to sit and gather her energy for what ever came.

Ceyede: Post 1/2
Location: Lurking---> Trying to contact Dyakida w/o drawing attention.

After making her way around the entirety of the camp she came to a point just outside the captured encampment. Her faithful companion had returned to her side just hours before and delivered word from her parents. Her father had left for the Resistance camp to offer her services as an amazon, but to little surprise to Ceyede her mother chose to stay and defend their home against the Obans who may try and take it. Ceyede knew her mother was a trained Alkidike warrior but she had never seen her fight, nor had she seen her wield a weapon...

But now to get in and get others' out... Ceyede wasn't sure how she could get in, but she did have a particular four legged creature who could make it. Stripping her Radaku of its accessories and stringing them on herself she pointed to the earth at the edge of the fence, "Dig."

Achlys paced with her nose to the earth sniffing at the fences edge.

"Dig, Lys Dig..." Ceyede repeated while pointing to the earth.

Digging her claws through the earth, Achyls made short work of the holes she began putting against the wall, but to little avail; the posts were deep, but perhaps there were just segments that were dug deeper to fortify the strength of the wall.

Moving down a few feet she found where it looked as though with was a new segment of wall, "Dig, Lys." Cey again pointed to the earth, "C'mon girl, Dig." Ceyede kept careful patrol as Achyls got a hole dug into the ground. Thankfully, Ceyede was right There were only certain segments of the wall that extended deeper into the ground.

It took some time, but finally Achlys had a hole deep enough for her to wriggle her way underneath and up the other side. Now that she's broken inside she peeked back under the fence at Ceyede for orders.

"Look around... find a way for people to escape..." she whispered to the radaku on the other side, "I need to get out of sight... Be careful." Ceyede rose and headed for the trees to get an overview of the camp... If any ill fortune came of her pet she would swoop down like a hawk on its prey and show them the savagery her sisters are known for.

Now behind enemy lines, Achlys did her best to stay out of sight, trotting in and out of the shadows of the tents. To her surprise it wasn't long before she caught a familiar scent. Trotting up alongside Dyakida she placed her snout in her hands and wuffed a breath into it to let her know she was there.

Nuawahn – Wind Healer (Conscript)
Captured Tents: The World is falling apart

”No!” sobbed Nuawahn, ”You're a liar!” The shifter – who Nuawahn had noticed was injured – was a big lying meanie. He was saying Nuawahn was doing bad things, and he wasn't! He wasn't!

He knew he should go over and treat the man's injuries – that was what healers were supposed to do, and he was a healer but, with petulance fuelled by the pain in his head – which was now buzzing like a frantic wasp and bringing on bubble like distortions and opalescence to his vision – he turned away and tried to ignore the man. It was hard to do.

The Obans had said they would hurt everybody, and Nuawahn believed that what they had said was true. He refused to believe that his helping them was anything but helping Ogbonna and the other prisoners... because if it was...

What if it was?

It wasn't! He wasn't bad. He couldn't be bad. He was good... He was good.. Wasn't he? Yes he was. The shifter was just mean. The shifter was just really mean... He closed his eyes against the pain and snuggled into Lerin's comfort until the mean man went away.

”I just...” he mumbled, unable to ignore his action of ignoring, ”I just did a bad thing...”

Dyakida – Alkidike Artisan (Prisoner)
Captured Tents: Seeking Allies

Dyakida could hear voices – and very likely that was the direction she should go towards to deliver her weapons. She was preparing to orient herself and make her way to them when something very unexpected happened: something breathed into her palm.

Tentatively, she felt around it, finding a soft-furred muzzle, a mane, and horns: one set of small pointed horns and, as she felt further, a set of mildly curved smooth horns.

A Radaku?

And a friendly one at that: not something she expected to find here. She knelt, trying to feel – cautiously – for features that she knew. Cautiously, of course, because radaku had a nasty bite, and for all she knew, it could just be a hungry stray.

But on the other hand, it could be a sister's pet, come to investigate the camp. The way it allowed her to touch it implied that it was at least used to people (and she was thankful, because she needed her hands.)

”Hello...” she murmured, wondering if the Oban guards could see, and hoping not.

The prisoners really were unruly! Observing them from his tent, the cocky captain frowned and scritched his beard, then motioned for a soldier to come close. For a while, the prisoners had been grouping up, but now they were scattered again into small groups. Hopefully, that meant they were disagreeing on a course of action.

Already, a handful had given up. The weaponsmith, and a healer. They just had to keep sweetening the pot. "I want to get these savages to work." He grunted, motioning towards the pen. The big one looked to be a good worker, or had the build for one, but he was too difficult to maneuver - as evidenced by getting pulled into the pen. One of the youngsters who had been rebelling had calmed down - while reports said another was causing trouble.

"I want the troublemaker clapped in irons and seperated - get one of the volunteers to guard him." He said, referring to BarAmal. "Then grab the... dark one over by our volunteer, get them back to work. Set another volunteer on them. And that blue one and pregnant one, I want them fletching arrows. Put them in with the troublemaker, see if you can get those two to get some work done and talk their friend down. Lerin, Ethelfleade, and Senja.

((Looking for Loyalist volunteers to watch Nuawahn and Lerin, and another to watch Ethelfleade, Senja, and BarAmal. If none volunteer by next NPC post, assume they are being watched by an NPC.))

----------------------

Enki and his scouts had to skirt around the open savannah quite a ways, and so it took some time before they reached the Jauhar forests across the expanse, and followed the treeline back towards the Oban camp, crouching low to avoid detection. Once there, Enki peeked at the layout, then grunted in disdain, sitting back. "We'll have to work our way in carefully. Split up - our goals are to figure out the camp, but any sabotage that can be done is a plus. See if you can get close to the prisoners and talk - or find those beasts and see if we can do something about them. We'll have to stay clear of the Soldier tents, but keep an ear out for where Freya might be." True, Besian was here too, but Enki didn't bring him up for the moment - ally or not Freya was the first concern.

(( Now introducing a sneak/capture system!

Roll 1 D-100 dice, and state where you are. At this point, any Loyalist character in the same area (or one of the areas listed in parentheses below) may roll 1 D-100. If the Loyalist number is higher than the Resistance number, the Loyalist may choose to sound the alarm at which point the Resistance member is captured.

Exceptions are if you are caught on the outskirts, and the Loyalist number was within 10 of the Resistance number, you may flee into the forest.

Lerin pinched the bridge of his nose between his fingers. Things were getting a little out of hand, despite the already disheartening situation they were in. At this rate these strangers were going to attract the type of attention they were so desperately trying to avoid. And they were going to drag Lerin in. he simply couldn't allow that. From her perch at his side, tandoori ruffled her wings and looked up at him, tilting her head as if inquiring for his thoughts. Lerin's gaze slithered between the rag-tag group about him. Those who had clustered themselves around him seemed to have...

...zero people skills.

Bitching at some frightened Wind man would warrant them no results. It'd only serve to scare him and rile him up more. It was only proved when Lerin received a faceful of blond hair as the man snuggled against him. Of course, he couldn't entirely condone his actions, either. Screaming and panicking would only garner more trouble, which he thought was what the Wind boy was trying to avoid, but his attitude sure did seem to negate that train of thought. And the girl, the Ice girl, flower though she was. How could she speak so openly about rebellion when they were among so many Obans? They could probably hear her.

Lerin huffed and shook his head lightly. From the corner of his eye, he spotted one of the Obans drawing nearer. "That's enough," he hissed, tone unlike any he'd used previously. "Whether you're trying to help or hurt is of little importance. Keep talking, keep behaving like this-" he added with a pointed glance to the Wind male. "-and we'll all be in trouble. You're all attracting too much attention..." he muttered, turning to face the ground again.

Ethelfleade sighed as the traitor started freaking out so she stood and approached him. "I'm not the enemy. You upset your friend, if you want to make things right with him, show him you're not an Oban. The least you could do is heal the small scrapes we all have gotten, hmm?" She said barely above a whisper before turning back to Rayolun when her eyes stopped upon the person she had been waiting on. "Meet me in the tent." Her voice was still kept low and she set a stony glare on Lerin. "We're in the enemy camp. We're already attracting attention by not being Oban. By freaking out you, are attracting the attention. Keep your head down and do what we tell you to when the time comes." She was not about to let her entire plan go down because of one peace loving shifter. There would be no peace here. The fact that he couldn't see that made her wonder about his alliance.

She walked over to Dyakida, "You know this light isn't good for your eyes." She said both to let the artisan know who it was and for an excuse for any listening ears for Fleade to take her into the tents. Fleade took the Alkidike's hand and began leading her into the tent when she noticed the radaku at her other side. "You should tell your familiar to hide..."" Fleade said softly, somewhat hoping it would follow them into the tent. Inside the tent, she noticed the two shifters still in there and wondered if she should wait for the other. With a quick scan of the tent she made sure there was nobody she hadn't already talked to inside. "I...I think I need help convincing some. The shifter holding onto the one who helps the Obans seems content to stay in captivity. It's not good for me to be talking to everyone, they'll suspect something..." Fleade turned to Dyakida, "How did it go, were you successful?" She asked tentatively. Fleade didn't see anything on the artisan but that would be the point if she was sneaking things.

Ruelash did not like being in a big group – it just didn't suit him. Him, Iroia, and Direk was plenty, and he hadn't even taken Direk on this mission: Too much trouble to deal with her hooves and sneaking. So, when they'd been told to split up, Ruelash didn't need to be told twice. He slipped off from the main group, sneaking towards where the weapons and other things were kept.

He wasn't sure what he would do there, but murder was always a possibility. He looked to check that Iroia was following: she was the one with the ideas...

Healer Tent: The World is falling apart to Healer Tent

Why was everybody so mean?! Nuawahn was comprehending less and less by the minute, and he could find no comfort in his new friend. There was no comfort here, no relief for his aching head or his aching soul. So, he shrunk away, taking whatever comfort he could find in his own shaking body.

So when an Oban ordered him to his feet, he took the direction as a godsend: it was direction and purpose and it was all he had.

No Oggie, no friends, no Amma... nothing. He allowed himself to be taken to the Healers tent and put to work, again, on potions. Potions, at least, he knew...

Captured Tents: Delivering Results

Good for her eyes? Heh.

”Thank you, Ethelfleade.” she said, ”Go,” she said, her hands touching a familiar necklace about the Radaku's soft neck. Ceyede...

The sister had shown it to her not long after they had met.

”Successful...” she said, ”To an... extent.” she fiddled around her loincloth and extracted the tools, holding them out to the woman's voice and trusting to Ethelfleade that they were in secret, ”They are tools, and bladed, and will do if we have no other weapon... To get better...” she sighed, ”I will need help. They had me well-guarded.” a sly – if frustrated – look came across her face. ”Will anybody here assist a poor blind artisan in her work?”
