Acriculeth watched the smaller male fall, satisfaction flaring within him along with the flaring exhaustion in his limbs. catch rather than waiting to be chosen has no place in the wherholds,> he observed aloud. It was a brutal culture he and A'nos had chosen but they had chosen and everyone got a choice here in what they did, how high they rose - so long as they had the brain and the fight to go with the ambition - and of course in this case who they would and would not have.
Not foolish enough to approach Banshidheth right now the bronze halted his chase and began a steady orbit of the gold at more or less the distance he had been when she ripped into the brown.

The satisfaction she felt watching the brown plummet was fleeting, quickly replaced by disappointment. He had seemed a fine enough dragon...until he had not, and in dealing with him she had expended no small amount of energy. No more baiting, no more testing, she needed to choose. Two were left who had impressed her, but that was too many. She needed one. Bronze or brown.
Purple returned to her eyes, and now she reached. Rugarth. You are my choice.

Disappointed Acriculeth let out a small sigh and dropped away, spiraling down towards his ledge. While he would have liked to have won he comforted himself with the knowledge that the brown who had been selected had gained nothing save the ego boost of siring a clutch.
A'nos shook himself and raised his glass to toast the night sky.

Brown Snalth
He had thought that Toroeth had just about caught her when the gold struck out, clearly unhappy with his approach. He briefly though about dropping down to help catch him, but then, decided against it. It didn't seem as if he was floundering too badly, and he wanted to finish this.
Whether or not she chose him.
He didn't have to wait much longer, as it wasn't long before she reached for Rugarth. A good choice, and he turned, spiraling down to his ledge. It had been a good flight, and would lead to a strong clutch.

Rugarth was surprised when Banshidheth turned purple eyes on him, then announced her choice. Relief, triumph, excitement, satisfaction, gratitude, pleasure, all swirled through his head and purple-blue eyes as he rose to meet her. The strain of the long Flight was forgotten now as he approached Banshidheth. Thank you, Banshidheth. Let us fly together.

Ititth sighed as the queen made her choice. Despite all his showing off he hadn't won the heart of the gold. Perhaps next time. The brown spiraled down to get his just praise from his rider.
